Why do with a special news from the Paralympics. Here is what is coming | :00:10. | :00:18.
up. Paralympics GB claim their 50th goal of the games with this | :00:19. | :00:22.
fantastic from Paul Blake. I find out what it is like for | :00:23. | :00:26.
children with disabilities who live here in Rio. | :00:27. | :00:38.
Hello, I am Martin, live from Rio de Janeiro. The Paralympics is in this | :00:39. | :00:43.
city and that means a whole range of people with different disabilities | :00:44. | :00:47.
have come here to complete -- compete. When you are here in the | :00:48. | :00:51.
part the access is pretty good but outside in the streets it is pretty | :00:52. | :00:55.
difficult, I find it hard getting up and down pavements and into | :00:56. | :01:00.
buildings. What is it like for people with disabilities? I have | :01:01. | :01:03.
been to meet an 11-year-old and here is his story. | :01:04. | :01:14.
I have come to a poor neighbourhood in the north of Rio to meet a pretty | :01:15. | :01:23.
cool dude. As you can see, he doesn't let his disability hold him | :01:24. | :01:29.
back. He was born without fully formed arms and legs, which can make | :01:30. | :01:33.
everyday life quite difficult for him. My aunt gave me a skateboard | :01:34. | :01:39.
for Easter when I was smaller, to help me get around, so I kept | :01:40. | :01:44.
training with this small plastic skateboard, just to help me. | :01:45. | :01:48.
Eventually my mum bought me a wooden skateboard and I started to come | :01:49. | :01:51.
here to the park to learn how to do it properly and it was a cool | :01:52. | :01:55.
experience and since then I have been coming here to play. Transport | :01:56. | :01:59.
is very difficult around the city. Things need to be more accessible. | :02:00. | :02:06.
The buses should be better for wheelchair users. There should be | :02:07. | :02:13.
more ramps everywhere. I would also like cars to be more accessible as | :02:14. | :02:18.
well. How do you feel about the Paralympics being in the city of | :02:19. | :02:23.
Rio? The Paralympic games are very important to me, I really like it. | :02:24. | :02:27.
It has encouraged me to do more sports. Each day I watch one more | :02:28. | :02:31.
sport and it encourages me more, it gives me more sports -- hope. If it | :02:32. | :02:36.
was in another city I would not be watching with the same emotion as I | :02:37. | :02:41.
am here in Rio. What message would you give to young people with a | :02:42. | :02:46.
disability? Whenever you see a barrier or some difficulty, have | :02:47. | :02:49.
faith and always keep your head up. Don't let anything keep your head | :02:50. | :02:56.
down. Remember these words, faith, determination and willpower and you | :02:57. | :02:59.
will go far and you will get your prize. It was an absolute pleasure | :03:00. | :03:05.
meeting him, what an inspirational young man. Let us look at the action | :03:06. | :03:10.
from today, it has been a strong start for Paralympics GB. The team | :03:11. | :03:16.
has now reached 50 gold medals so far with another great performance | :03:17. | :03:20.
from Paul Blake on the track and he built on the bronze and Silver | :03:21. | :03:24.
medals he got at London 2012 and he grabbed gold in the T 36 400 metre | :03:25. | :03:31.
race. Sophie Wells won her second gold-medal of the games in the | :03:32. | :03:37.
dressage. -- her second medal of the games with a silver in the dressage. | :03:38. | :03:43.
The basketball team are battling against the Netherlands to try and | :03:44. | :03:46.
get a medal in the bronze medal match. Earlier we had what it was | :03:47. | :03:50.
like for children in Rio de Janeiro to get around their home own city. I | :03:51. | :03:56.
would like to know what it is like for children watching the | :03:57. | :03:59.
Paralympics back home in the UK. Take a look. Before I watched this | :04:00. | :04:07.
year Paralympics I never knew that actual disabled people can do | :04:08. | :04:16.
sports. It made me so proud and meant I can achieve what I can in | :04:17. | :04:21.
life. It is really important they have the Paralympics we can show the | :04:22. | :04:27.
world what we can do. The medal chances just keep coming for | :04:28. | :04:31.
Paralympics GB. Later today we are guaranteed either a gold or silver | :04:32. | :04:36.
in the wheelchair tennis as Gordon Reid takes on his doubles partner | :04:37. | :04:41.
Alfie Hewett in the men's signal -- singles final. Hannah Cockroft will | :04:42. | :04:46.
be in action later in the 800 metres T 34 final. We have won so many | :04:47. | :04:51.
medals it is hard to keep up but don't worry, we have it covered. You | :04:52. | :04:56.
can go online for a full list of GB athletes that have muddled so far. | :04:57. | :05:01.
That is all from me in Rio. See you soon. | :05:02. | :05:02. |
