Millions of people vote on their favourite TV shows so why are fewer

people turning out at elections? Pudsey is in action in a few hours.

We look at what's in store. And, join me to find out who will

be singing the secret song for First, it's been described as one

of the lowest election turnouts ever. Yesterday millions of people

were given the opportunity to make changes to the way their

neighbourhoods are policed. All they had to do was vote. But hardly

anyone did. Today it was my mission to find out why.

Yesterday, people in England and Wales got the chance to vote for

something new - Police Commissioners who will be in charge

of targeting crime in their local area. But around one in ten people

actually voted. At one polling station in Newport in South Wales

no one turned up at all. Skraoeupl an issue a lot of people care about

so how come eligible voters weren't rushing to the polling stations?

didn't have information about who to vote for. I had the card throw

the door but that was it. I didn't bother. I have not had information

so I couldn't make an informed decision. It's been a shambles.

wasn't just the police elections, some areas were also voting for MPs

and turnout there was low, too. Yesterday's elections were

different from a general election, which attracts a much bigger number

of voters. But even when it comes to picking the Prime Minister, not

everyone takes part. For a long time only rich men were able to

vote in this country. Having the right to vote is something people

have fought long and hard for. Women weren't allowed to vote 100

years ago. Some of them campaigned by starving themselves and even

dying to try to get their voices heard. Here we are in 2012 with

more people able to vote than ever before, so why are fewer people

doing it? In 1950 nearly 84% of people who could vote in the UK put

their cross on a card. In the last general election, in 2010, the

turnout was 65%. It could be that people don't realise how important

it is to vote and how people might not realise how much their vote

counts. People aren't engaged as much with voting and what's

happened and what we want to do is let people know how important it is

they are engaged, making sure they have a say. It's a lot different in

countries like Australia and Argentina, where people are made to

vote by law. If they don't, they get fined.

Millions of people pick up the phoner week -- every week to vote

in Strictly or I'm A Celebrity. When it comes to electing

politicians for many people it doesn't have the X Factor.

Moving on to some other news now and the world's largest marine

reserve has opened in Australia. More than two million square

kilometres of oceans around the country are included in the reserve.

The marine life will be protected from overfishing and people won't

be able to drill for oil and gas in the area.

Now there are less than three hours to go until Children in Need. All

over the country people have been raising money. At Newsround's old

home - at Television Centre in London - everyone's getting ready

for tonight's big show. Girls Aloud will be singing the official single

'Something New'. But they're not the only ones getting involved. # I

like to move it, move it. # I like to move it, you like to,

move it! # Pudsey Bear meets Pudsey dog from

Britain's Got Talent for a dance- off.

And, Britain's Olympic and Paralympic stars, incuding Andy

Murray, Victoria Pendleton, Louis Smith and Ellie Simmonds show off

their moves with their own music video. One of the biggest moments

of the night will be the Children's Choir. More than 2,500 kids will be

joining in to sing one song live on air. We sent Hayley to Blackpool to

meet some of the singers getting in tune.

As you can see, these guys are in the last-minute rehearsals for

their national Children in Need choir performance which will be

tonight. They are sounding pretty good but I wonder how nerves are

holding up. I am really excited for tonight being on TV and singing

with all the other schools. I am feeling really excited. And really

giddy. What song are you singing? can't tell you. You can, go on.

can't tell you! I won't tell anyone. I can't tell you. It's top secret.

These guys weren't r aren't alone, they're singing 2,500 other

children from across the UK. We are off to the BBC studios now where

the cameras are waiting and these guys are still at it!

# When you see what you are... Last year, �46 million was raised.

The money doesn't just go to one children's charity, but loads of

different ones all over the country. But why did these guys want to

help? To help people less fortunate than myself. Children in Need is sa

great way to help raise money and help the sick to make them better.

Tonight's show will take place in the philharmonic Concert Hall in

Salford. You are going to have to tune in later to find out what song

they're singing. As long as it's not Gangnam Style!

Loads of you are getting involved and have been telling us about it

In Wales 2 out of 5 children speak Welsh and this month marks a

special moment in the history of the language. It's 30 years since

the TV channel S4C was created especially for Welsh speakers.

Hayley's back finding out how it started. From kids programmes, to

news, dramas and documentaries, S4C broadcast completely in Welsh.

There is even a Welsh version of Newsround.

S4C began broadcasting from here in Cardiff on 1st November 1982. It

was a massive moment for the Welsh language. Tpwu came after a long

and sometimes bitter campaign. Back in 1980 the newly elected

Conservative Government broke a promise they had made to start a

Welsh language channel. It sparked protests throughout Wales. This man

threatened to starve himself to death if the channel wasn't created.

All this forced the Government to change their minds and finally S4C

was born. Fast forward to 2012 and the channel celebrates its 30th

birthday. It's been a tough time for it recently with cuts to

funding, and fewer people tuning in. All this has led them to think

about a controversial plan to have more English voiceovers for

programmes. Everything on air is Welsh. We have to admit there are

people out there who would like to watch S4C but they're learning

Welsh or can't speak Welsh so it's a way of getting the family to

watch together, possibly. This is one of hundreds of Welsh language

schools in Wales where all the lessons are taught in Welsh. But

what do the guys here think about S4C's plans? It's a good plan for

people that don't speak Welsh. think voiceovers might be too

extreme. It might end up turning the channel into an everyday

English channel. Whether it's an English or Welsh, there's one thing
