with snow and ice, | 0:00:20 | 0:00:21
as the "Mini Beast
from the East" sweeps in. | 0:00:21 | 0:00:27

Just when you thought
better weather was on the way. | 0:00:28 | 0:00:31
Lots of areas in the UK have
woken up to snowy and icy scenes | 0:00:31 | 0:00:34
but there are weather warnings
in south-west England, | 0:00:34 | 0:00:37
south-east and mid-Wales
and the West Midlands. | 0:00:37 | 0:00:41
5cm to 10cm of snow
is forecast to fall. | 0:00:41 | 0:00:44
There's disruption on the trains,
on the roads and at some airports. | 0:00:44 | 0:00:50
Still, at least someone
is enjoying it all. | 0:00:50 | 0:00:57
This dog is called Sir Benson -
he's only got two legs | 0:00:57 | 0:01:00
but luckily his wheels are helping
him go for a walkies in the snow. | 0:01:00 | 0:01:04
At Manchester United, | 0:01:04 | 0:01:05
workers had quite a job
getting the pitch ready. | 0:01:05 | 0:01:07
And anyone for a swim? | 0:01:07 | 0:01:08
I think I'll pass. | 0:01:08 | 0:01:09
Although it's not
putting this lady off. | 0:01:09 | 0:01:13
Here's hoping the Mini Beast
from the East will be gone soon. | 0:01:13 | 0:01:18

Talking of chilly weather,
meet the Grandma in Canada | 0:01:26 | 0:01:29
who has kept a snowball
in her freezer for 11 years! | 0:01:29 | 0:01:34
She was given it all those years ago
by her granddaughter, Alecia, | 0:01:34 | 0:01:37
who was five at the time. | 0:01:37 | 0:01:39
She treasured it so much,
she put it in a plastic bag | 0:01:39 | 0:01:42
and kept it in the freezer, | 0:01:42 | 0:01:43
even taking it with her
when she moved house. | 0:01:43 | 0:01:46
Grandma Mae had forgotten
all about it until her and Alecia | 0:01:46 | 0:01:49
found the old photo when she
gave it to her 11 years ago. | 0:01:49 | 0:01:57
And I was like, "Oh, my goodness. | 0:02:00 | 0:02:01
11 years, that's been there." | 0:02:01 | 0:02:02
It makes me really happy, | 0:02:02 | 0:02:04
because I know that she's thinking
of me and she has that there. | 0:02:04 | 0:02:07
Part of me is here
with her all the time. | 0:02:07 | 0:02:09
It's really adorable,
I love it so much. | 0:02:09 | 0:02:16
Let's get a quick round up
of the big sports news. | 0:02:16 | 0:02:18
There's been gold at
the Winter Paralympics for Team GB | 0:02:18 | 0:02:23
as Menna Fitzpatrick and her guide,
Jen Kehoe, won gold medals | 0:02:23 | 0:02:27
in the women's
visually-impaired slalom. | 0:02:27 | 0:02:30
It is GB's first gold
of these Games, | 0:02:30 | 0:02:32
and only their second
Winter Paralympic gold ever. | 0:02:32 | 0:02:36
Millie Knight
and Brett Wild also won bronze. | 0:02:36 | 0:02:38
Let's hear from the winners. | 0:02:38 | 0:02:42
It's been absolutely astonishing,
the way that this week has gone, | 0:02:42 | 0:02:47
from quite low to extremely,
extremely high. | 0:02:47 | 0:02:53
As soon we crossed the finish
line on the second race, | 0:02:53 | 0:02:56
my confidence got boosted. | 0:02:56 | 0:03:00
Winning the bronze as well
was absolutely amazing. | 0:03:00 | 0:03:02
To finish on gold medal | 0:03:02 | 0:03:06
and one of our strong performances
this week is beyond words. | 0:03:06 | 0:03:11
It hasn't sunk in, and it probably
won't until we get back to the UK | 0:03:11 | 0:03:15
and are back in our own beds,
and we can have a lie-in. | 0:03:15 | 0:03:18
The Premier League's
top scorer did it again | 0:03:18 | 0:03:20
for Liverpool yesterday. | 0:03:20 | 0:03:21
Mohammed Salah scored
four goals for his team | 0:03:21 | 0:03:23
as they beat Watford 5-0. | 0:03:23 | 0:03:25
His manager says
he's getting as good as Messi! | 0:03:25 | 0:03:30
And is Mark Cavendish | 0:03:30 | 0:03:31
one of the unluckiest
men in sport, or what? | 0:03:31 | 0:03:34
The British cyclist
had a big crash | 0:03:34 | 0:03:36
in the Milan San
Remo race yesterday, | 0:03:36 | 0:03:38
his third one this year. | 0:03:38 | 0:03:40
He's cracked a rib and has bruising
but his team doctors say he's OK. | 0:03:40 | 0:03:48
OK, history fans,
stick around for this, | 0:03:49 | 0:03:51
we're heading to Liverpool to see
an ancient underground army, | 0:03:51 | 0:03:54
kept hidden for thousands of years. | 0:03:54 | 0:03:56
Martin's got this. | 0:03:56 | 0:04:00
This is the Terracotta Army. | 0:04:00 | 0:04:05
It was buried deep underground,
secretly guarding the tomb | 0:04:05 | 0:04:08
of China's first Emperor
for more than 2,000 years, | 0:04:08 | 0:04:11
until it was discovered by accident
as farmers dug the land. | 0:04:11 | 0:04:16
The tomb belonged to
Emperor Qin Shi Huang, | 0:04:16 | 0:04:19
the founder of the Chinese Empire,
who had many enemies. | 0:04:19 | 0:04:22
He believed that his full-sized clay
soldiers would protect him | 0:04:22 | 0:04:24
in the next life, after he died. | 0:04:24 | 0:04:26
Now they've carefully been brought
back to the surface and repaired | 0:04:26 | 0:04:29
for everyone to see. | 0:04:29 | 0:04:34
But you don't have to go all the way
to China to see them. | 0:04:34 | 0:04:38
Some of them are
right here in Liverpool. | 0:04:38 | 0:04:40
So these kids have been
to check them out. | 0:04:40 | 0:04:44
How long did it take to make
the terracotta warriors? | 0:04:44 | 0:04:48
We don't know exactly how long it
took to make one warrior. | 0:04:48 | 0:04:51
But, as you can see,
they are so detailed and elaborate | 0:04:51 | 0:04:53
that I imagine it would have taken
quite some time to make each one. | 0:04:53 | 0:04:57
Each part of the body
was made separately, | 0:04:57 | 0:04:59
so the legs and feet were made,
and they are solid clay - | 0:04:59 | 0:05:02
because they are so heavy, the base
of them had to be quite sturdy. | 0:05:02 | 0:05:06
Who was the strongest warrior? | 0:05:06 | 0:05:07
The warriors
were obviously the soldiers | 0:05:07 | 0:05:08
that were ready to fight in battle, | 0:05:08 | 0:05:11
but in another pit nearby
were figures | 0:05:11 | 0:05:13
that the Emperor had made
to entertain him in the afterlife, | 0:05:13 | 0:05:16
and in that pit were acrobats
and strongmen, | 0:05:16 | 0:05:19
and those strongmen figures
had really big muscles, | 0:05:19 | 0:05:22
so I imagine they were
meant to be very strong. | 0:05:22 | 0:05:25
So what do they make of the army? | 0:05:25 | 0:05:29
I'm so amazed how big
the terracotta warriors are. | 0:05:29 | 0:05:31
I like how they look,
and they've got armour on | 0:05:31 | 0:05:35
and are really detailed. | 0:05:35 | 0:05:36
When I imagined
what they would look like, | 0:05:36 | 0:05:38
I wasn't expecting them
to be a really big size. | 0:05:38 | 0:05:41
I think that
it's actually pretty impressive | 0:05:41 | 0:05:44
that they came from China,
all the way to Liverpool, | 0:05:44 | 0:05:47
and that they're still
in really good condition. | 0:05:47 | 0:05:51
That's it from me for now,
Newsround's back at 2:15pm. | 0:05:51 | 0:05:58 |
