can't drink it. With a population of the world growing there is an

increased demand for fresh drinking water. Taking sold out of the sea

water could be the solution but that is not as easy as it sounds. Even in

the UK engineers are turning to sea water to boost supplies. Here,

Clearwater 's work its way out from the salty solution through these

membranes, but they clog up with dirt from the water very early and

getting drinking water this way is 15 times more expensive than regular

water. On Gibraltar another method is being used. Inside these tubes

are hollow membranes. Water flows on the outside of these tubes and pure

water is drawn across. Very little energy is needed but the process

needs lots of pressure so it is a bit better than the membrane

solution but only just. Getting salt water into fresh water gets chosen

as the topic for people to look into, the challenge will be how to
