Good evening, Ore and Ricky with you for a new sound, we have | :00:22. | :00:26.
everything that you need to know. -- for Newsround. | :00:26. | :00:32.
We meet the creatures desperate for your health. I am Louis Walsh and | :00:32. | :00:37.
you're watching CBBC Newsround, OK? Keep watching. That's right. It's | :00:37. | :00:41.
nearly time to face the music. X Factor is back this weekend but no | :00:41. | :00:49.
Simon, no share all, no Dannii, any good? -- no Cheryl. | :00:50. | :00:53.
We have talked a lot about the thousands of people who have fled | :00:53. | :00:58.
famine and war in Somalia. When I went to Kenya, I visited the Dadaab | :00:58. | :01:02.
refugee camp near the Somali and order and reported on how | :01:02. | :01:05.
overcrowded things were. A new section of the camp has opened up. | :01:05. | :01:08.
Instead of flimsy tents, it is filled with thousands of proper | :01:09. | :01:14.
houses and schools, and today, families started moving in. | :01:14. | :01:18.
When this camp was created 25 years ago, it was only meant for 90,000 | :01:18. | :01:23.
people. Now five times that number are living here, and every day, | :01:23. | :01:27.
thousands more arrive. Many are escaping famine in nearby Somalia. | :01:27. | :01:32.
They walk for days to reach the camp, and arrive wheat and | :01:32. | :01:36.
malnourished. Conditions are so overcrowded that new arrivals have | :01:36. | :01:41.
to set up camp in the desert -- arrive week. Some of the kids were | :01:41. | :01:44.
living in makeshift tents. They have no toilets, know where to eat | :01:44. | :01:49.
and hardly any water. TRANSLATION:, during the day it is hot and windy, | :01:49. | :01:52.
during the night it is really cold. Drive a short distance down this | :01:52. | :01:57.
dusty road and you will find this. New houses, schools and toilets. | :01:57. | :02:02.
For months, it has been empty. The Kenyan government has done a lot to | :02:02. | :02:05.
help refugees fleeing the famine in neighbouring countries, but when | :02:06. | :02:08.
the new camp was built, the government worried that the | :02:08. | :02:12.
facilities were so good, refugees who moved in might never want to | :02:12. | :02:19.
leave. The camp or shut and no one was allowed in. Now finally, months | :02:19. | :02:23.
on, Kenya has decided to open the camp, and for the first time, | :02:23. | :02:28.
families are moving in. Just 100 to start with, but with space for | :02:28. | :02:31.
40,000 people, it will still be home to the likes of the Seine and | :02:31. | :02:38.
families who are in desperate need of help. -- the likes of Hussein. | :02:38. | :02:41.
There is good news for the comeback kings of the countryside. 40 years | :02:41. | :02:45.
ago, otters came close to dying out because there was so much pollution | :02:45. | :02:49.
in our river. But lots of work has been done to improve that and the | :02:49. | :02:53.
mammals have been spotted in every single county across England. Go, | :02:53. | :02:58.
otters, you are doing good! And to some not quite so cute or | :02:58. | :03:01.
cuddly creatures and because of that, they don't get so much | :03:01. | :03:03.
attention. When it comes to endangered animals, | :03:03. | :03:08.
we normally hear about the bigger animals, even though the threats | :03:08. | :03:15.
surrounding other species gets bigger every day. | :03:15. | :03:20.
Polar bears and leopards. They are facing an uncertain future. But you | :03:20. | :03:24.
probably already knew that. That is because these animals are | :03:24. | :03:29.
frequently on TV, and in the papers, when it comes to talking about | :03:29. | :03:32.
endangered species. However, there are thousands of other creatures | :03:32. | :03:36.
under threat, but they don't get the same amount of coverage, | :03:36. | :03:39.
because some would argue that they are a bit ugly, or to put it | :03:39. | :03:49.
:03:49. | :03:50. | ||
That is why a special conservation project called Age was launched, | :03:50. | :03:57.
which aims to highlight the plight of weird species facing an | :03:58. | :04:07.
:04:08. | :04:08. | ||
uncertain future -- Edge. I manage a focus -- a programme which | :04:08. | :04:15.
focuses on the Z less celebrities of the animal kingdom. -- Z list. | :04:15. | :04:18.
This is a mountain chicken frog. In its natural habitat it has | :04:18. | :04:22.
practically been wiped out because of the deadly fungus, and there are | :04:22. | :04:27.
only a couple of hundred left in the world. The disease emerged in | :04:27. | :04:30.
the 70s and it is leading to the demise of pretty much all species | :04:30. | :04:38.
of amphibians, all the frogs, all the newts. The more species we lose, | :04:38. | :04:42.
the worse it is likely to be for what is left on the planet, | :04:42. | :04:48.
including humans. Plenty of work to be done. | :04:48. | :04:51.
Absolutely. It is not often that a prince pops | :04:51. | :04:54.
in to tell you how well you're doing your job, but that is what | :04:55. | :04:58.
happened to a bunch of firefighters, police and ambulance crews today. | :04:58. | :05:03.
They told Prince Harry how much they'd dealt with the recent | :05:03. | :05:07.
violence in Manchester in silent -- and Salford. Harry visited some of | :05:07. | :05:10.
the shops affected and thanked the emergency teams for their hard work. | :05:10. | :05:15.
It is that time of year again, when we give up our Saturday nights from | :05:15. | :05:19.
now up until Christmas. It is a bit sad! X Factor is back. But not as | :05:19. | :05:25.
we know it. With three favourite faces gone, can it survive? | :05:25. | :05:30.
It is all change on the X Factor this year. Simon, Cheryl and Dannii | :05:30. | :05:36.
have gone. In their place, these guys. Take that superstar Gary | :05:36. | :05:41.
Barlow, Kelly Rowland, and Flowers from N-Dubz. Can the new series | :05:41. | :05:48.
work without Simon Cowell -- Flowers from N-Dubz. It is a big | :05:48. | :05:53.
risk, but that is what the show is about. It is about moving forward | :05:53. | :05:57.
always as a TV show. The public are always going to be hesitant when it | :05:58. | :06:01.
comes to new people. Especially when you are someone like Simon and | :06:01. | :06:05.
Cheryl, they are going to say, you better be good. What is it like, | :06:05. | :06:10.
not having someone like Simon on the panel? He left pop idol, is | :06:10. | :06:14.
survived. We miss him, but the show can be bigger without him, I think. | :06:14. | :06:19.
But then it Louis would say that. Despite claims that this is boot | :06:19. | :06:23.
camp will be tougher than ever, Kelly Rowland think she has spotted | :06:23. | :06:27.
several winners already. Everybody has always asked me since the X | :06:27. | :06:30.
Factor, what is the difference between the US talent and the | :06:30. | :06:35.
British talent? Truly and honestly, talent his talent. | :06:35. | :06:38.
We can't talk Saturday-night without mentioning Strictly Come | :06:38. | :06:43.
Dancing, which starts next month. They have big plans, with a special | :06:43. | :06:49.
show at Wembley Arena, and the final from Blackpool Tower, in 3D. | :06:49. | :06:53.
Not to be beaten, X Factor bosses confirmed this week that their | :06:53. | :06:59.
final will be at Wembley, so let the battle commence. | :06:59. | :07:03.
Kelly Rowland, or Anne Widdecombe in 3D? That is the choice you have | :07:03. | :07:06.
got to make! You have been on the news run | :07:06. | :07:11.
website, telling us if X Factor will work without Simon Cowell and | :07:11. | :07:18.
Cheryl Cole. "they may choose the wrong contestants to go through to | :07:18. | :07:28.
:07:28. | :07:38. | ||
Make sure you keep watching Newsround through the weekend, we | :07:38. | :07:42.
will have loads more X Factor gossip for you. It is here. That is | :07:42. | :07:48.
your lot for now. Just before we go, congratulations to Tom Daley, he | :07:48. | :07:56. |
