Good morning, I'm Ricky and you're watching Newsround live

this Thursday morning.

Coming up this morning...

The class venturing to the pyramids, outer-space and beyond...

And, Olympic athlete Tiffany Porter tells us how she's

getting ready for Rio.

Now, what will you be studying today at school?

History and the Ancient Greeks?

Maybe you're having a science lesson?

Well, imagine actually visiting Egypt for yourself,

or going on a journey through the human body, all whilst

staying in your classroom.

How's that possible?

Here's Martin...

Newsround HQ told me that I would be going on an incredible trip today -

but it looks like they've sent me back to school!

OK, guys.

We are going to be learning about Ancient Egypt.

Don't worry, Martin, you're going to enjoy

this.

Wow.

ALL: Wow!

This is virtual reality learning - where kids can explore

amazing places without even leaving the classroom.

I can see the great Wall of China!

It's part of a new project designed by Google to bring learning to life,

and allow kids to go on a virtual school trip

wherever their teacher wants to take them, using just a smartphone,

this cardboard headset and a selection of apps.

It is an amazing experience for these children.

Now we can go on a school trip under the sea, we can go on a school trip

to Mars, we can go on a school trip anywhere around the world

all without leaving London.

The experience uses 3-D and 360 degrees images and videos,

and is being tested in schools around the world.

So, what do these guys think?

People my age like this because you get to see

all the different parts of the world.

I'd rather have a school trip because you get to go in a place

more and you get to feel everything.

I've seen the stars, I've seen the sun,

I've seen the earth.

You can just see, like, what's under the sea

and if you can't swim you can just used the goggles.

It makes it more fun to come to school because you know that

every day you are going to get a surprise and at the same time,

you're going to learn.

Well, this group seemed to have enjoyed their lessons today.

And this might be how more classrooms work in the future.

But as for me - I'm feeling a bit lost!

Next up, and Arsenal's Mesut Ozil has visited Jordan's largest refugee

camp.

The German football star had a tour of the camp where he met

with Syrian children.

He was shown around by officials who explained the conditions

the children live in and much to their excitement,

couldn't help but join them in a short football match...

TRANSLATION:

To train with him and to learn is great.

We love football.

This is our favourite game and we love that he

teaches us and we learn from him.

TRANSLATION:

A player like Ozil in the camp,

someone famous like him, gives a motivation for

children that the big

players are thinking about them, and there

are players who think about

us.

Having a big player like Ozil who plays with them and joins

children as part of a football activity makes us feel that there

are people thinking about football in the camp.

There are 78 days to go until the Olympics

begin in Rio in Brazil.

But, closer to home, some of the stars of the track

and field are getting ready to compete this weekend,

on the streets of Manchester in the Great City Games.

Earlier, European champion hurdler Tiffany Porter

was on the Newsround sofa.

I'm so excited be here.

The street races are actually my favourite.

You actually beat Jessica Ennis Hill, didn't you?

Are you going to be facing her again?

Some stiff competition, isn't it?

Yes, she's not competing this year, I don't

believe.

It was a great competition last year and I'm looking forward to

racing the girls this year and hopefully

putting on a good show for

you guys.

It is of course a very important year with the Rio Olympics

taking place in August.

Does that put more pressure on you now?

Yes and no.

I mean, you want to kind of take each race, you know, at a time,

and focus on what you are trying to work on to get ready for the big

dance in August.

At the end of the day, it is an Olympic year.

Everybody is, you know, gearing up towards that big one

so I'm just looking forward to doing well at

Manchester and building on it throughout the season.

In football, there was disappointment for Liverpool last

night, as they suffered a 3-1 defeat to Spanish side Sevilla

in the Europa League final.

Jurgen Klopp's side had a hopeful start when England striker

Daniel Sturridge had put them into the lead.

But just 17 seconds into the second half Sevilla scored to draw level,

before two goals from their captain put the league title out

of Liverpool's reach - fans were devastated.

And it wasn't just the supporters who had travelled to see

the game in Switzerland who were disappointed.

Around 9,000 more fans watched the game on a big screen

at Liverpool's Echo Arena.

What started out as joy soon turned to despair as chances of a win

disappeared and fans couldn't bear to watch.

We weren't lucky today.

And it is one of those games where it could go

either way and in the second half I felt like they were clinical.

The first goal and especially the second

goal, it was a great finish.

And, as I said, we have to take it on the

chin.
