A first look at Henry the Eighth's warship that's been rescued

We hear from the 11-year-old star of the new BFG film

First, though, the UK have been experiencing the hottest

People all over the country have been enjoying it.

So what's causing these temperatures and will the sunshine

Our weather expert Simon King has all the answers.

Some people are calling this a heatwave and technically speaking it

is not really cheaply because it is not lasting that long but they have

had a heatwave in Europe. We have had a big plume of party coming in

from Spain giving tempters of that if I'd be Celsius, the hottest day

of the year so far. We have enjoyed some sparkling sunshine 30 degrees

to 33 degrees and a little cooler for the North and Scotland. --

south-east more sparkling sunshine in hot weather.

Next this afternoon, a warship that sank 491 years ago

today off the coast of Portsmouth is being shown off to the public

The historic Mary Rose was finally unveiled after millions of pounds

Back in 1982, this Tudor ship was brought back to the surface

She was a warship during the reign of Henry VIII.

But no-one's sure why or how the ship sunk

Was it human error, strong winds or gunfire from another ship?

For more than 30 years, experts have been busy restoring

the ship to her natural state and it's been a massive job.

Every inch of the Mary Rose has been sprayed with a special solution

to preserve it and the ship has been kept

in a giant glass hot box to dry it out.

The BBC's Duncan Kennedy was given exclusive access to the ship.

This is never been seen before, neither on television or online.

This is the side of the ship that was buried most deeply

All the white you see is the polyethylene glycol,

the wax-like chemical that they've been spraying it with

Scaffolding has been used to keep it in place

and giant pipes of air conditioning manage the temperature

From now on, the public will not only be able to get the history

and the sense of tragedy of this whole ship,

but they can get up close, breathe it, almost touch it,

in the way that Henry VIII would have himself.

From now on, this really is the final story

It's the only 16th-century warship on display in the world,

and it will remain here at the Mary Rose Museum in Portsmouth.
