Burke talks to me about the new X Factor judges.

First, BMX stars from around the world have been in action at the

London Olympic Park trying out the bumps ahead of the main event in

343 days' time? Something like that. It is only the second competition

to be held in the park itself. Every sport will have had its own

test run before the Games. It is to iron out the problems with venues

before the eyes of the world turn to London in 2012. 32 venues, 26

sports, two weeks and millions of spectators. Putting on the greatest

show on earth requires a lot of practice. Today BMXers have been

testing the Olympic Park's BMX track as part of the Supercross

World Cup. Organisers need to make sure every venue is up to scratch

and that people coming to watch can get in-and-out easily. It is not

the first Olympic test event. We have seen a triathlon, beach

volleyball and road cycling in London. Apart from a few bloopers,

things have gone to plan. At this week's basketball, China's National

Anthem sounded like the anthem from Chile. At the rowing, they

discovered the roads weren't wide enough for the TV trucks. I'm very

confident that what we have tested we will be able to move from a

seven out of ten to a ten out of ten. There are loads more test

events in the pipeline. The Olympic velodrome will host the Track

Cycling World Cup and the Aquatics Centre will have the Diving World

Cup. The Olympic Stadium will hold the British Student Sport

Championships. As the time ticks down, organisers hope the tests run

as smoothly as possible. Now people in Dorset are clearing

up after flash-floods yesterday. Bournemouth has been the worst

affected area with drains overflowing, shops flooding and

roads ripped up. It is drying out now. More rain is expected on

Sunday. Next to the mysterious decline of one of Britain's best-

loved birds, the number of cuckoos has halved in 15 years. Because

they migrate thousands of miles to Africa, it is difficult to work out

what is going wrong and when. Researchers have come up with a

creative idea. Have a look at this. CUCKOO CALLS the song of a cuckoo.

Some people call it the sound of spring because that is when the

birds come back to the UK after spending a winter in Africa where

there is more food. Fewer and fewer cuckoos are returning here and bird

experts are desperate to find out why. As it is about time for the

birds to migrate, they have hatched a plan. Using a fake female bird,

they lured five males into a trap and fitted each of them with a tiny

GPS backpack. The pack tracks the birds as they fly so for the first

time ever, we will know where they are all the time. Clement was the

first tagged cuckoo to make the journey. He flew to France, then

turned right through Spain and he landed in Africa in July. He is now

safely crossed the Sahara and arrived in Burkino Faso in the

south of the Continent. The other birds weren't far behind. If it is

found the birds are getting to Africa safely, it might be

something on their return journey stopping them getting back to the

UK. We are interested in finding out where the cuckoos are.

researchers hope the project will clear up the cuckoo mystery and

means this will remain a common sound in our countryside.

invited to brighten up an ugly road in the city by painting all over

the tower blocks. Their works used to be illegal but now the

authorities have changed their mind. The police station is getting a

Alexandra Burke, one of the most successful X Factor graduates.

Burke! Earlier this week I caught up with her. She is about to launch

her second album but before that, she wants to talk about the show

that made her a star. Having a fresh line-up will make it more

exciting. I am excited about it. I can't wait to see what happens.

Someone like Tulisa, you are still so young, she is 12? No. She's

older than me, 23. Is she really? think so. Would you like someone

like that as a mentor? She has not been through as much as someone

like Cheryl Cole. I get that point. What is great about her is she is

the youngest judge. She will give it that edge, that probably no

other judge has had before. # All night
