Hi, I'm Hayley and

this is Newsround.

Coming up in the next few minutes:

Japanese schools are choosing

the next Olympics mascot.

We reveal the man Chelsea

are considering signing.

And -

the skier who thinks

she's Wonder Woman

Now, kids across Japan

are getting to choose a very,

very important part

of the next Olympic Games that

will be hosted in their country.

Martin's been finding exactly what.

What do most big sporting

events have in common?

Amazing athletes...

Superb sport?

Well, yes, but also

mascots, of course!

Every primary school class in Japan

is voting for the mascots they want

for the 2020 Olympics

and Paralympic Games, which is to be

held in their home country.

So who's in the running?

Could these be the next Olympic

and Paralympic mascots,

representing tradition

and the cutting edge tech that

Japan is famous for?

Or perhaps this Olympic hopeful

based on a cat and a fox,

partnered up with this Paralympic

hopeful, based on a dog?

And last but not least,

this fox and raccoon, red and white,

just like the Japanese flag...

His chubby cheeks are so cute.

Schools across Japan have

got until mid-February

to cast their votes.

The Olympics and Paralympics

are amongst the biggest sporting

events in the world,

so choose carefully, guys!

Chelsea are looking for a striker -

but I bet most of you didn't

see this one coming.

The club has been in touch

with the former England

international Peter Crouch.

He plays for Stoke,

but hasn't really featured

in the first team much this season.

The clubs are believed to be

discussing a possible move

for the very tall forward -

he's 6 foot 7.

Chelsea, have only scored one goal

in their last four games.

They're away to Brighton in today's

early Premier League kick-off.

Now, when you think of racing

drivers who are the names

that spring to mind,

Lewis Hamilton, Sebastian Vettel,

Fernando Alonso maybe?

One thing these guys

all have in common is that

they're, well, guys,

but Newsround recently went to catch

up with one girl who's

looking to change that.

This is Jamie Chadwick.

She started motor

racing when she was 11.

Aged 17, she became the first woman

and the youngest driver to win

the British GT championship and now

she's racing in Formula 3.

So, what is she doing today?

Taking me for a drive, of course.

Jamie, I'm really scared.

Am I going to be all right?

You'll be fine.

Are you sure?

Trust me, the last few people I've

taken out haven't dealt

with it well at all.

There's been fainting,

passing out, but...

Jamie!

I trust you'll be fine.

Oh, good.

Are you ready?

It's exciting.

Yeah, so this is Silverstone.

It's the home of

British motor sport.

It's where they have the Grand Prix.

We're going to go on the circuit

they do the F1 at,

which is really cool.

Yeah, coming out

onto the circuit now.

Oh, my gosh!

It's so fast!

How did you realise you had

a passion for racing?

I guess before, I didn't really

follow motorsport that much.

So I didn't really know much

about it, but as soon

as I first got in a go-kart,

it was like, pretty

much, that was me done.

That's exactly what I wanted to do.

Oh, I love this.

What would it be like

if you got into Formula 1?

I think an absolute

dream come true, really.

It's what you always work for,

it's what I think I really

want to achieve, it is what sets

the bar for every young driver.

You want to be there, you want to be

racing against the greats.

You want to be

the best in the world.

Do you want me to do

a faster lap, or...?

Yeah, go on then.

OK.

This is so fast!

Oh, my gosh!

It's so fast!

Jamie, that was so much fun.

I've got helmet hair, though.

How do you get rid of that?

You don't.

You just have it for life.

You are such an amazing driver.

Why do you think it's

so male-dominated, this sport,

and do you think it can change

in the future?

Yeah, I'm really

hoping it can change.

Obviously, there aren't

that many women involved

in the sport at the moment,

but when people realise that

women can be involved,

women can be just as good as the men

if not better in my opinion,

I'm hoping more women get involved.

Now how cool is this?

American downhill

skier Julia Mancuso

dressed as Wonder Woman

for her final

professional competition.

She wore a cape and tights

so she could go out in style -

she's won a gold, two silvers

and a bronze over the last

three Winter Olympics.

A real super hero - amazing!

But she didn't qualify

for for the next games

in South Korea, so she's decided

to hang up her professional skis

and will no longer compete.
