It's Brits time tonight,

the biggest night in British music.

While Dua Lipa, Justin Timberlake

and Ed Sheeran are warming

up their vocal chords,

Ayshah's been finding out some weird

and fun facts about the event.

Five things you might not

know about the Brits.

Different categories come and go.

One year, there was the Best

British Comedy Record.

And in 2013, One Direction

got the catchy title of

Brits Global Success Award.

That's it, I'm making

up my own award.

Best Dancing Newsround Presenter.

The reason why we have the Brits

is because of the Queen.

Seriously, it all started back

in 1977 to mark her silver jubilee.

It's now in its 38th year

and showcases all of Britain's best

music talent.

Thanks, Ma'am.

The statue.

It's actually meant to be

a personification of Britain.

That's a big word.

Basically, it's meant to be a female

symbol of the UK which

is why it's shaped like this.

A famous British artist

designs it every year.

Most awards are voted

for by just 1000 people.

These guys are really

into their music.

DJs and record labels choose

who they think are the best artists

but this year, two

categories are up to you.

That's the British artist video

of the year and British

breakthrough act.

And finally, it's a massive

social media event.

In 2016, when One Direction won

Best British Band, they broke the

Internet.

Oops.

Well, they didn't actually

break it but it was the

most talked about event on twitter

that year in the UK.

I wonder what we'll be

talking about this year.

Hashtag Brits 2018.

And it's happened again.

Britain's Elise Christie

is out after an epic race.

You might remember she crashed out

in speed skating on the 500

and 1,500 metre races.

So what went wrong

this time in the 1000?

Away they go. And Christie goes down

before they reach the very first

corner.

The race was restarted after Elise

Christie foul early on. Then she had

a terrible start, looked like she

was barged, and nearly fell over

twice.

Just about manages to stay on

her feet.

Three were all that, she

managed to get back into place and

thought she had a spot in the

quarterfinals.

But then... I can't

believe that they've awarded her a

yellow card.

Disqualified, game

over. Ellies will not go through to

the next round. She may be out, but

she still found time to send a

message to you.

I'd just like to say

thank you to all the kids that have

sent me messages, I really

appreciate them saying they are

inspired by me. They have no idea

how much that means to me. It's

amazing that by the roads,

seven-year-olds can find me

inspiring. That brings death to my

eyes, you know.

It was a case of so near but so far

for Chelsea in the Champions League.

They drew 1-1 at home to Barcelona.

The Chelsea manager Antonio Conte

says his side nearly produced

the perfect performance -

with a goal from Willian.

But Lionel Messi made it 1-1 -

giving Barcelona an important away

goal going into the second leg.

Next - Doctor Who.

We have got our hands on a sneak

peek of the show's brand-new logo.

The BBC released this

video yesterday -

showing off the new look.

The 11th series features

the first female Doctor.

Jodie Whittaker is currently

filming new episdoes.

The new logo looks a lot different

to the old blue style!

I wonder what it all means?!!
