Morning, Ricky here with your Friday Newsround. | :00:08. | :00:09.
Coming up: A new type of dinosaur is found in Australia. | :00:10. | :00:12.
The baby eastern black rhino helping to save its species. | :00:13. | :00:23.
First, let's get straight to the football, with two English | :00:24. | :00:26.
teams involved in the Europa league last night. | :00:27. | :00:29.
World record signing Paul Pogba scored twice for Man United, | :00:30. | :00:33.
as they coasted to a comfortable 4-1 victory over Turkish | :00:34. | :00:35.
Ex-United favourite Robin van Persie got a consolation goal. | :00:36. | :00:49.
Despite creating loads of chances, they couldn't manage to find the net | :00:50. | :00:57.
and slipped to a 1-0 defeat. Church services took place last | :00:58. | :01:02.
night to mark 50 years since the Aberfan disaster, | :01:03. | :01:05.
when a waste heap collapsed in the Welsh mining | :01:06. | :01:07.
village of Aberfan. 144 people died, and there was a big | :01:08. | :01:09.
investigation into what happened. After the disaster, new laws | :01:10. | :01:13.
were brought in to make sure that nothing like this | :01:14. | :01:15.
would ever happen again. More than 50 years ago the region | :01:16. | :01:19.
was an important source of coal - the material used to heat | :01:20. | :01:25.
homes and power trains. The area was heavily mined, | :01:26. | :01:30.
and for years the leftover soil, dug out with the coal, | :01:31. | :01:34.
was heaped up in big piles But the ground the waste was piled | :01:35. | :01:37.
up on wasn't stable. It soaked up water, | :01:38. | :01:42.
loosening the rock below. Then on the 21st of October 1966, | :01:43. | :01:45.
the build-up of waste suddenly collapsed, and slid down | :01:46. | :01:50.
into the surrounding area covering Huge rescue efforts were made, | :01:51. | :01:53.
but a lot of people died. This memorial garden is one | :01:54. | :02:01.
of the ways people in Aberfan Jeff Edwards was at the school | :02:02. | :02:04.
when the disaster happened. How did it change your community? | :02:05. | :02:24.
In 1966 it was a very thriving community. If you look at it today, | :02:25. | :02:29.
it is still very bright -- vibrant, a new generation have come about, | :02:30. | :02:34.
and I think it is important for the people that the community has a | :02:35. | :02:36.
future. And those children are our future. | :02:37. | :02:40.
Before the disaster happened, there had been questions raised | :02:41. | :02:42.
about how safe the waste pile was - but nothing was changed. | :02:43. | :02:45.
Afterwards, an investigation found that the National Coal Board, | :02:46. | :02:47.
who owned the waste tip, were at fault for | :02:48. | :02:49.
The disaster here in Aberfan was devastating for many families. | :02:50. | :02:57.
People around the country were shocked about what happened. | :02:58. | :03:00.
As a result, new safety rules about mines and quarries | :03:01. | :03:02.
were made to make schools, villages and the areas around them | :03:03. | :03:05.
safe and to stop anything like this happening again. | :03:06. | :03:08.
At this school in Aberfan, children have been remembering | :03:09. | :03:10.
I think it is important, because it was a big thing that happened, and | :03:11. | :03:26.
we don't want it to happen again. We have Assembly, we do work on it | :03:27. | :03:30.
in class. It is emotional, because if you | :03:31. | :03:34.
think about all the people who lost their lives, at such a young age, it | :03:35. | :03:39.
is very sad. But we look at the happy side and look at the future | :03:40. | :03:44.
and remember them in that way, not in the past. | :03:45. | :03:51.
We have been doing a painting of the village's future. I painted the | :03:52. | :03:55.
Memorial garden and the yard. If you want to know more | :03:56. | :04:00.
about what happened in Aberfan, That's also where you can find | :04:01. | :04:02.
lots of info on what to do if you're A giant long-necked | :04:03. | :04:08.
dinosaur has been unveiled The new species was a tall | :04:09. | :04:10.
as a giraffe and half the lengh The fossilised remains | :04:11. | :04:17.
of the Savannasaurus elliottorum were first found in the state | :04:18. | :04:22.
of Queensland in Australia in 2005. This cute baby rhino has been | :04:23. | :04:25.
born at a zoo in the US. The endangered eastern black | :04:26. | :04:30.
rhino delighted keepers It's thought there only | :04:31. | :04:32.
1,000 black rhinos left in captivity and the wild - | :04:33. | :04:35.
making this birth extra special. Finally, two giant pandas will be | :04:36. | :04:39.
released back into the wild today after three years | :04:40. | :04:42.
of survival training. The pandas were raised | :04:43. | :04:43.
in China's Panda Protection and Research Centre, | :04:44. | :04:45.
but keepers now want the animals to return | :04:46. | :04:47.
to their natural habitat. That's all from me, Newsround's back | :04:48. | :04:54.
right here in about half an hour. | :04:55. | :04:59. |
