Hi, I'm Martin and this is Newsround.

0:00:040:00:06

This afternoon we'll be talking about some sad news

0:00:060:00:09

from the country of Belgium.

0:00:090:00:11

We are starting today's programme with news from the country

0:00:200:00:23

of Belgium in Europe.

0:00:230:00:25

There were attacks in the capital city, Brussels, this morning.

0:00:250:00:28

Ayshah has the story.

0:00:280:00:31

People from around the world have been giving their support

0:00:310:00:33

to the people of Belgium.

0:00:330:00:36

It is after an attack in the city of Brussels this morning.

0:00:360:00:39

Emergency services were there quickly to help anybody affected.

0:00:390:00:44

Sadly, at least 30 people have died.

0:00:440:00:47

The Prime Minister of Belgium has asked everyone to show

0:00:470:00:50

calmness and pull together.

0:00:500:00:53

It is not known for sure who was behind the attacks

0:00:530:00:57

but the group that calls itself Islamic State has said

0:00:570:01:00

that it is responsible.

0:01:000:01:02

They carried out the attacks which took place in Paris

0:01:020:01:05

in France last November.

0:01:050:01:07

Last Saturday, the police in Belgium caught a man that they think

0:01:070:01:10

was involved in the Paris attacks.

0:01:100:01:13

They are now looking to see if what happened this morning

0:01:130:01:16

is linked to that arrest.

0:01:160:01:18

Now countries around the world have come forward to offer

0:01:180:01:21

support to Belgium.

0:01:210:01:22

We must be together, regardless of nationality

0:01:220:01:26

or race or faith.

0:01:260:01:29

British Prime Minister David Cameron has said the UK will do everything

0:01:290:01:33

we can to help.

0:01:330:01:34

We absolutely stand with them at this very difficult time.

0:01:340:01:39

And Ayshah joins me on the sofa now.

0:01:390:01:42

It's a very sad day for people in Belgium.

0:01:420:01:45

What's been put in place to make sure people there, feel safe?

0:01:450:01:48

There's loads of police and emergency services out

0:01:480:01:51

on the street, doing all they can, and reassuring people who are there.

0:01:510:01:55

For the moment Brussels Airport has been closed until tomorrow

0:01:550:01:59

and all public transport has been shut down.

0:01:590:02:02

And people in the areas affected have been going online and marking

0:02:020:02:06

themselves as "safe" on social media to let their friends and family

0:02:060:02:11

around the world know that they are OK.

0:02:110:02:14

What should you do if you feel upset by what you've heard?

0:02:140:02:17

It's natural to feel sad about what has happened.

0:02:170:02:20

And it's really important to talk to people about how you feel,

0:02:200:02:23

whether that's your mum, dad or a teacher.

0:02:230:02:26

There's also lots of advice on the Newsround website too,

0:02:260:02:29

on what to do if anything in the news upsets you.

0:02:290:02:32

And what about if you're worried that something might happen

0:02:320:02:35

in the UK?

0:02:350:02:37

Police say what's happened in Brussels today has not made them

0:02:370:02:41

more worried about the situation in the UK, but they're sending out

0:02:410:02:44

extra officers to keep people safe.

0:02:440:02:47

It's also important to remember that the reason this is in the news

0:02:470:02:51

is because it's a very unusual thing to happen.

0:02:510:02:54

These attacks are rare and although it's scary to hear

0:02:540:02:57

about, it's very unlikely that anything like this would ever happen

0:02:570:02:59

to you, your family or anyone that you know.

0:02:590:03:03

Thanks, Ayshah.

0:03:030:03:04

And there's a full guide to what's happened in Brussels online,

0:03:040:03:07

along with our report about who Islamic State are.

0:03:070:03:11

That's also where you can find our advice on what to do

0:03:110:03:14

if anything in the news upsets you.

0:03:140:03:16

Next, are you addicted to tech?

0:03:160:03:18

That's the question the latest Newsround special is asking.

0:03:180:03:21

We set a Year 7 class an epic challenge to find out if technology

0:03:210:03:25

is taking over their lives.

0:03:250:03:27

Here's a taster of what to expect.

0:03:270:03:29

Could you handle it?

0:03:290:03:32

We are going to split this class into three different groups.

0:03:360:03:42

The first group is going to be able to use technology whenever you want.

0:03:420:03:48

The second group will only be allowed to use technology for two

0:03:480:03:52

hours a day over the next three days.

0:03:520:03:56

The final group won't be able to use any technology whatsoever

0:03:560:03:59

for the next three days.

0:03:590:04:05

It says here that using tech before bedtime can also affect your sleep.

0:04:070:04:12

Mum!

0:04:120:04:15

I can't join in.

0:04:160:04:18

I miss it a lot.

0:04:180:04:20

I don't know what to do with myself.

0:04:200:04:23

I have not missed them as much as I thought I would.

0:04:230:04:29

Maybe we should take a step back from it and go outside.

0:04:290:04:37

That Newsround Special - Is Tech Taking Over?

0:04:370:04:41

- is on CBBC in just over an hour, so don't miss it.

0:04:410:04:46

That's all from me.

0:04:460:04:48
