Hello everyone, I hope you're all having a good weekend.

0:00:030:00:05

Here's what's coming up on Newsround:

0:00:050:00:08

Stay tuned for the incredible dinosaur discovery.

0:00:080:00:12

And epic weather pictures as a huge snow storm hammers

0:00:120:00:15

America's east coast.

0:00:150:00:17

But first to our top story, and it's a stinker.

0:00:250:00:28

A team in London are going to extreme lengths to try to stop

0:00:290:00:32

dog poo on our streets.

0:00:320:00:35

Ricky's been sniffing this story out.

0:00:350:00:39

Dog poo.

0:00:390:00:40

It's pretty gross, isn't it?

0:00:400:00:42

You're having a nice stroll in the park, then

0:00:420:00:44

all of a sudden, ugh!

0:00:440:00:45

You come across that!

0:00:450:00:47

Don't you just hate it when some people don't

0:00:470:00:49

clean up their dog's mess?

0:00:490:00:51

If only there was a way of finding out who did this?

0:00:510:01:00

I think this might be a job for the DPIU,

0:01:000:01:02

the Dog Poo Investigation Unit.

0:01:020:01:04

OK, so there is no such thing as a Dog Poo Investigation Unit,

0:01:050:01:08

but one local council in London is getting

0:01:080:01:11

tough on dog doo-doo.

0:01:110:01:14

Barking and Dagenham council have launched a scheme to test dog poo,

0:01:140:01:17

to try and catch owners who fail to clear up after their pets.

0:01:170:01:21

Park Rangers will collect samples of dog mess and send

0:01:210:01:24

it to a lab for DNA testing.

0:01:240:01:27

Scientists will be comparing the DNA found in the samples with a list

0:01:270:01:30

of registered dogs, and then the owner

0:01:300:01:33

will be tracked down and fined.

0:01:330:01:36

Getting DNA from dogs involves a simple swab,

0:01:360:01:38

taking just a few seconds.

0:01:380:01:41

It will also help if the dog is ever lost.

0:01:410:01:44

Registering for this scheme is voluntary at the moment,

0:01:440:01:47

but some people think that not all pet owners will sign up.

0:01:470:01:50

A responsible dog owner will walk around with a bag in his pocket

0:01:500:01:54

and pick it up.

0:01:540:01:58

I think this is a waste of money.

0:01:580:02:00

It's not realistic at all, in all honesty.

0:02:000:02:02

It's not going to work.

0:02:020:02:03

Barking Council say the doggy forensics will help keep the area

0:02:030:02:06

clean and mess-free, inviting other councils

0:02:060:02:09

to follow suit.

0:02:090:02:12

So is this idea barking mad, or will it actually stop owners

0:02:120:02:15

and their dogs leaving this mess behind?

0:02:150:02:17

Tell you what, I'm going home, that's enough dog poo for me today.

0:02:170:02:25

A ban on all fires has been issued in one state in Australia

0:02:250:02:29

as firefighters try to tackle blazes there.

0:02:290:02:31

It means that no open fires, such as campfires, will be allowed

0:02:310:02:34

over the next four days.

0:02:340:02:36

Authorities hope it will give fire crews a chance to bring more

0:02:360:02:39

than 70 fires burning across Tasmania under control.

0:02:390:02:44

Now, to the huge snow storm that's hitting the east coast of America.

0:02:440:02:47

A state of emergency has been declared across six states,

0:02:470:02:49

including the capital Washington, DC.

0:02:490:02:53

Public transport has been cancelled in many places and people have been

0:02:530:02:55

advised to stay indoors until the storm passes.

0:02:550:02:58

Forecasters are predicting it'll be the heaviest snowfall in 100 years,

0:02:580:03:01

with more than two feet of snow and winds of more than 50mph.

0:03:010:03:05

We've been sent this special report from two kids in Washington

0:03:050:03:08

where school has been cancelled.

0:03:080:03:09

I'm Kara.

0:03:090:03:10

And I'm Julia.

0:03:100:03:11

And we had a snow day today.

0:03:110:03:14

We live in Washington, DC.

0:03:140:03:16

Today we were supposed to be expecting 30 inches.

0:03:160:03:19

Of snow.

0:03:190:03:22

It would have been 12, but tomorrow we are going to have 30

0:03:220:03:27

inches of snow, right here in Washington, DC.

0:03:270:03:31

And for tomorrow, we are making a sledding path that goes

0:03:310:03:43

OK?

0:03:430:03:44

And then we're going to turn left and then we're going to do a

0:03:440:03:48

snow dance like this.

0:03:480:03:51

Go snow, go snow!

0:03:510:03:54

Next, wildlife presenter Sir David Attenborough says he has

0:03:540:03:57

uncovered the world's biggest dinosaur in his latest documentary.

0:03:570:04:01

Our Leah has been to meet him to find out more.

0:04:010:04:06

A digital version of a titanosaurus.

0:04:060:04:09

But could this computer-generated dinosaur ever become a reality?

0:04:090:04:16

Sir David Attenborough, who was recently

0:04:160:04:18

part of the team that uncovered the bones of this giant creature,

0:04:180:04:21

believes anything is possible.

0:04:210:04:22

Do you think there is a possibility that scientists could bring back

0:04:220:04:25

dinosaurs from extinction?

0:04:250:04:27

It would be very, very expensive to do.

0:04:270:04:31

He believes the money would be better spent looking after animals

0:04:310:04:34

around today.

0:04:340:04:36

Plus, there would be no space for them.

0:04:360:04:38

Where would the poor thing go?

0:04:380:04:40

Where are you going to put him?

0:04:400:04:42

You've got enough problems keeping elephants and

0:04:420:04:45

finding space for them.

0:04:450:04:47

Where are you going to fit a dinosaur that is ten

0:04:470:04:50

times bigger than an elephant?

0:04:500:04:55

But he was blown away by discovery made by a team of experts.

0:04:550:04:58

This is its thighbone.

0:04:580:05:01

They found over 200 separate bones.

0:05:010:05:05

So we can be pretty sure what the animal looked like.

0:05:050:05:09

It was very, very, very, big.

0:05:090:05:12

That was a real excitement to see that.

0:05:120:05:16

For Sir David, discovering fossils is still so exciting,

0:05:160:05:19

and he believes there is so much more to find.

0:05:190:05:24

Tennis, and Andy Murray is through to the fourth

0:05:240:05:26

round of the Australian Open after beating Portugals Joao Sousa

0:05:260:05:30

by three sets to one.

0:05:300:05:31

He will play either Bernard Tomic or John Millman in his next match.

0:05:310:05:35

If that wasn't exciting enough, Yohanna Konta has become the first

0:05:350:05:38

British woman since 1987 to make it to the last 16

0:05:380:05:41

of the Australian Open.

0:05:410:05:43

Konta thrashed Czech Republic's Denisa

0:05:430:05:45

Allertova 6-2, 6-2 in Melbourne.

0:05:450:05:49

That's all from me, Newsround's back right here at around 2pm.

0:05:490:05:54

See you then.
