It's Sunday afternoon, Ayshah here with the top stories you need to | :00:00. | :00:08.
know. Coming up: we bring you one of the most extreme sports I've ever | :00:09. | :00:12.
seen - Downhill Ice Cross! And a baby gorilla makes a | :00:13. | :00:15.
remarkable recovery, after a tough start to life. | :00:16. | :00:23.
First though, to the search for the Malaysia Airlines plane which lost | :00:24. | :00:27.
all contact over two weeks ago. More and more countries are getting | :00:28. | :00:31.
involved in the effort to try to find any sign of the aircraft. | :00:32. | :00:42.
Satellite images have shown what appears to be debris floating in the | :00:43. | :00:46.
sea, but so far no actual sighting has been confirmed. It's important | :00:47. | :00:49.
to stress that a plane going missing is extremely rare. But why is the | :00:50. | :00:53.
search proving to be so difficult? I've been looking at the huge | :00:54. | :00:55.
challenges facing the investigation. Flying low over the South Indian | :00:56. | :00:59.
Ocean, all eyes are on the water... The search has been focused here for | :01:00. | :01:02.
the past four days. Satellite images showing objects in the water have | :01:03. | :01:05.
made investigators think this might be the area where they will find the | :01:06. | :01:08.
plane. We have eight planes in the area. | :01:09. | :01:11.
Some from Australia and New Zealand and the United States. Visibility is | :01:12. | :01:16.
key. The Australians are saying they are relying increasingly less on | :01:17. | :01:19.
radar and simply looking out of the planes and scanning the vast ocean. | :01:20. | :01:31.
But searching this vast area of ocean isn't easy. The search point | :01:32. | :01:42.
is over 1500 miles off the coast of Western Australia. It means planes | :01:43. | :01:45.
setting off from Perth have around a five hour journey just to get there | :01:46. | :01:49.
- meaning they only have enough fuel to search for two hours before they | :01:50. | :01:53.
need to turn back. The weather has also been a problem - rough seas, | :01:54. | :01:57.
storms and strong winds are common in the area. To help the search, | :01:58. | :02:00.
ships from America, Britain and China are on their way now too. It's | :02:01. | :02:04.
not known if the objects in the satellite pictures are from the | :02:05. | :02:07.
plane but they're the best clues investigators have so far. | :02:08. | :02:11.
And just a reminder that If you're worried or upset about anything you | :02:12. | :02:14.
see on the news, there's help and advice on our website. | :02:15. | :02:21.
Next up, if you've ever got your homework back with red pen pointing | :02:22. | :02:25.
out spelling mistakes, you might like the idea of this... | :02:26. | :02:27.
A pen has been invented which vibrates when you spell something | :02:28. | :02:31.
wrong. It uses a mechanism inside to work out what is being written. It's | :02:32. | :02:34.
connected to an app that flashes to let you know when you've gone wrong. | :02:35. | :02:39.
The pen uses normal ink refills but it does not need ink. Because there | :02:40. | :02:42.
are no sensors here, it does not need special paper. It does not need | :02:43. | :02:47.
paper at all. It will work in thin air. | :02:48. | :02:56.
Sport now: England cricket captain Stuart Broad has said his players | :02:57. | :03:04.
were put in danger when the umpires decided to play on during a | :03:05. | :03:07.
thunderstorm. It was in England's first match of the World Twenty20 | :03:08. | :03:10.
cricket tournament, which ended in defeat. As their opponents New | :03:11. | :03:13.
Zealand batted, huge flashes of lightning were seen in the night | :03:14. | :03:16.
sky. The match was eventually called off, but because New Zealand scored | :03:17. | :03:19.
their runs at a faster rate, England lost and are bottom of their group. | :03:20. | :03:23.
Captain Broad says that safety should always come first. | :03:24. | :03:29.
The health and safety of players and the crowd is very important. That | :03:30. | :03:33.
seemed like threatening lightning to me. It does not change what we have | :03:34. | :03:41.
to do as a team. We can take some good things from today. We must win | :03:42. | :03:48.
our next games. Next: a sneak preview to hear from | :03:49. | :03:52.
one of Team GB's newest stars. After becoming Britain's youngest Winter | :03:53. | :03:55.
Paralympian and flying the flag for Team GB in Sochi, Millie Knight is | :03:56. | :03:59.
back at school and caught up with Nel to tell her all about the | :04:00. | :04:02.
experience. You can see the full report tomorrow morning but here's a | :04:03. | :04:11.
clip from the interview. You were the flag bearer for Team GB. What | :04:12. | :04:17.
was it like? I walked out and the crowd were | :04:18. | :04:25.
roaring. It was amazing. To come top five was incredible. I was almost | :04:26. | :04:33.
crying. I just thought while. And if the Winter Olympics and | :04:34. | :04:37.
Paralympics all feels a bit like a distant memory, then I've got a real | :04:38. | :04:40.
treat for you right now. This is the Ice Cross downhill world | :04:41. | :04:44.
championship - one of the most extreme things I've ever seen. It's | :04:45. | :04:49.
just been held in Quebec in Canada in front of crowds of over 100,000 | :04:50. | :04:57.
people. The icy course runs through the streets of the city and includes | :04:58. | :05:01.
sharp turns, steep slopes and even sheer vertical drops. It was won by | :05:02. | :05:07.
Austrian Marco Dallago. Last up, a baby gorilla, whose birth | :05:08. | :05:11.
we featured on Newsround just over a week ago, has shown great | :05:12. | :05:13.
improvement after suffering from pneumonia. The baby girl was born at | :05:14. | :05:17.
a zoo in America by a rare animal caesarean section, as her mum was | :05:18. | :05:20.
having trouble giving birth. She's still not been given a name yet, but | :05:21. | :05:24.
her keepers at San Diego zoo are happy that she's well enough to come | :05:25. | :05:34.
home from the hospital. It is a very exciting day. We feel | :05:35. | :05:39.
confident about the baby's health. We brought her back. This is the | :05:40. | :05:48.
first time the other animals have seen her. | :05:49. | :05:52.
That is it from me but Ricky will be back tomorrow with that Millie | :05:53. | :05:55.
Knight interview and all the day's top stories. | :05:56. | :05:57.
Have a great day. | :05:58. | :06:01. |
