Hey, guys. Martin here. On today's show we have exciting new fossil

:00:00.:00:08.

finds, and a brand new way to play football. Stick around, cos this is

:00:09.:00:10.

Newsround. But first, to the peace talks aimed

:00:11.:00:20.

at bringing an end to Syria's brutal civil war that has raged for three

:00:21.:00:25.

years. The idea was to bring together Syria's government with the

:00:26.:00:28.

opposition forces who want them out of power. But so far, the talks in

:00:29.:00:32.

Switzerland have been troubled, with both sides making angry speeches,

:00:33.:00:35.

each side blaming the other for the conflict. Now, the Syrian government

:00:36.:00:39.

has threatened to quit the talks unless "serious" discussions begin

:00:40.:00:43.

by tomorrow. Next, it's known as the Jurassic

:00:44.:00:46.

Coast, and it's protected by the United Nations because its fossils

:00:47.:00:48.

provide an incredibly detailed record of millions of years of our

:00:49.:00:54.

planet's history. But after it was battered by the stormy weather over

:00:55.:00:57.

Christmas and New Year, it's revealed some very exciting new

:00:58.:01:03.

finds. Ayshah's got this one. The storms over Christmas and New

:01:04.:01:05.

Year damaged homes and businesses, attacking coastlines around the

:01:06.:01:11.

country. But here in Dorset, on the Jurassic Coast, the storms have

:01:12.:01:13.

revealed ancient treasures - fossils millions of years old, including

:01:14.:01:16.

whole skeletons of a prehistoric fish lizard known as an

:01:17.:01:18.

icthyosaurus. These are the bones of the

:01:19.:01:29.

icthyosaurus, similar to one the ones found in Dorset. Fossil hunters

:01:30.:01:32.

looking for new dinosaur bones are being warned to stay away because of

:01:33.:01:36.

the danger of mudslides and rocks falling. Britain and one sense

:01:37.:01:45.

because it has produced hundreds of these fossils like the one we found

:01:46.:01:50.

today. In turn, it has produced hundreds of fossil hunters coming

:01:51.:01:54.

here to look for these fossils. The message here is please come along,

:01:55.:02:00.

especially if you are young and eight first-time fossil hunter, take

:02:01.:02:04.

care of those fossils and of yourself. So how important are these

:02:05.:02:11.

new finds? You would be surprised at how common these fines are. People

:02:12.:02:16.

bring in small bones they found on the beach all the time, haps every

:02:17.:02:21.

40 or 50 years we find really spectacular. -- we find something

:02:22.:02:27.

really spectacular. If you're thinking of going hunting for

:02:28.:02:30.

fossils, it's worth remembering to always have an adult with you and to

:02:31.:02:34.

take care of areas that have been damaged by storms because the rocks

:02:35.:02:38.

could make it dangerous. It might be better to get a close-up look at

:02:39.:02:41.

amazing bones like these ones that have already been discovered.

:02:42.:02:44.

One of three possible replacements for NASA's Space Shuttles has been

:02:45.:02:47.

given its first launch date. November 2016 will be the first

:02:48.:02:50.

unmanned flight for what they call the Dream Chaser. It's much smaller

:02:51.:02:53.

than the huge shuttles that transported American astronauts into

:02:54.:02:56.

orbit and back again, but it could still carry seven people into space.

:02:57.:02:59.

Two other companies, Boeing and Space X, have also designed options

:03:00.:03:03.

for NASA. Tennis now. This morning in the

:03:04.:03:07.

battle of the giants, Rafael Nadal powered past Roger Federer to reach

:03:08.:03:09.

the Australian Open final. The Spaniard dominated from start to

:03:10.:03:12.

finish, beating Federer in three straight sets. Nadal, who is

:03:13.:03:17.

currently world number one, will face Stanislas Wawrinka in the final

:03:18.:03:19.

on Sunday. And for the first time in three

:03:20.:03:22.

miserable months, England's cricketers are celebrating a win

:03:23.:03:26.

over Australia! They set the Aussies a massive 317 runs to win in the

:03:27.:03:29.

fourth one-day international, and bowled them out for 259. All-rounder

:03:30.:03:35.

Ben Stokes was man of the match, with seventy runs and four wickets.

:03:36.:03:40.

But Australia still lead the five-match series 3-1.

:03:41.:03:48.

Next, we all know the plan in any footy match is to score the most

:03:49.:03:51.

goals, but when three teams are playing on the same pitch, at the

:03:52.:03:55.

same time, keeping a clean sheet becomes even more important. Check

:03:56.:04:00.

out three-sided football. Instead of two teams on a

:04:01.:04:04.

rectangular pitch, there are three teams on a hexagonal pitch. That

:04:05.:04:09.

means you form topical alliances, your enemy one-minute is your friend

:04:10.:04:18.

the next minute. Very chaotic scramble is with two teams

:04:19.:04:22.

converging on one goal. Last up, here's four words for your

:04:23.:04:25.

Friday afternoon - RAT INFESTED GHOST SHIP. It's the incredible

:04:26.:04:31.

story of an abandoned Russian cruise liner which has been drifting in the

:04:32.:04:35.

Atlantic Ocean since being cut loose almost a year ago. It's thought

:04:36.:04:40.

there may be thousands of diseased rats on board. But don't worry, the

:04:41.:04:45.

British coastguard says there's no sign of the vessel reaching our

:04:46.:04:49.

shores yet. Head to the website for more about this one, and don't

:04:50.:04:52.

forget you can always play our quiz of the week's news stories on there

:04:53.:04:56.

too! That's all we've got time for today.

:04:57.:05:01.
