First to that huge snow storm in the US.

More than 85 million people have been affected by the fierce weather

and many places on the East Coast have been stopped in their tracks

18 people have died because of the weather so far.

This is Washington DC, America's capital.

The battle is on to clear the city's roads and pavements.

There's more than a metre of snow on the streets in some places here.

Not even the President could escape the wild weather as his home,

But here's someone who's managing to have fun in the extreme weather.

This is Tian Tian, a giant panda at the zoo in Washington,

The snowstorm has travelled 200 miles to New York,

whipping up high tides to bring flooding in several towns.

Normally, it's bustling with tourists and loads of traffic.

That is to allow officials to clearer. When the snow eventually

stops, that is what officials will be concentrating on. They want to

get the public transport back up and running but that could take some

time. They have two clear up the two feet of snow from city streets.

7,000 flights have been delayed and cancelled.

Many airports and train stations are closed and the snow has caused

As you can see, it is knowing pretty hard right now. It has been snowing

for 45 minutes. It is supposed to snow eight to 12 inches. We are
