First - awards news, and why these

guys are looking so very happy.

The stars of the small screen

were out for the National

Television Awards last night.

Ant and Dec were the biggest

winners, picking up three awards.

They were named Best Presenters

for the 17th time, which left

Ant feeling emotional.

Winning this tonight really,

really means a lot.

I personally would like to thank

all my family, all my friends,

some of you are here tonight.

I love you.

Thank you very much.

But thank you to all

of you for your support.

It really, really

means the world to me.

It's helped me get through.

Thanks to you, little guy.

I love you, man.

Hold it.

they recognise the best films

of the year and the nominations

have been announced.

One of the most popular categories

is the Best Animation Feature.

And the nominations are...

Coco.

All about a 12-year-old Mexican boy

who dreams of becoming a musician.

It's up against The Boss Baby.

Surprisingly, though,

no nomination for Despicable Me 3.

Disney's Beauty And The Beast

is in the running for two

Oscars, Best Production

and Best Costume Design.

Harry Styles's first film

Dunkirk has been nominated

for a massive eight awards.

Star Wars - The Last Jedi has

got four nominations,

including Best Visual Effects.

We'll find out who the winners

are on Sunday the 4th of March.

Where's my suit and tie?

Sport news next and Phil Neville has

been appointed as the head

coach of the England's

womens football team.

The ex-Manchester United star

is the most high profile

person to hold the job.

He's signed a three year deal

to coach the Lionesses.

Some critics say they're

dissapointed a women

didn't get the job.

You will recognise many of these

characters. They are from some of

the most loved children's books.

Have you ever wondered who the

person is behind the drawings? His

name is Axel Scheffler and we have

been to meet him.

Axel Scheffler is an illustrator

who has delighted fans

with his work for decades.

He was born in Hamburg,

in Germany, and came to the UK

to study art in 1982.

Axel spent much of his

childhood drawing.

This is some of his work

when he was just eight years old.

Since then, he's illustrated

over 100 books, many

written by Julia Donaldson.

These are just some of his most

famous creations - like Stick Man,

The Snail And The Whale and Zog.

The most famous of all has

to be The Gruffalo.

So, how does Axel bring

his ideas to life?

When I get the text,

I start doodling and trying

to develop the character first.

Quite often I have an idea

immediately what the characters

should look like.

But sometimes, like

with the Grufallo,

the editor says, "could

you do him less scary?"

So sometimes I have

to adopt it a little bit.

Usually like the smaller

rodent characters.

They're easiest for me to draw.

What is the best thing

about being an illustrator?

I see so many families who love them

and for whom the books

are really important.

It's the link between

parents and children.

It's a nice occupation to just draw.
