We bid a fond farewell to the Winter Olympics in Sochi as the most

expensive Games in history comes to a close.

And it's goals galore as Liverpool and Swansea serve up a thriller at

Anfield. This is Newsround. But first to the Ukraine, where

after months of protests and nearly a week of violence, a temporary

President has been appointed. It comes after President Viktor

Yanukovych was forced out of power. The stand-in leader says he wants to

strengthen the country's relationship with Europe.

Politicians are meeting today to start working on a new government.

It's a big day in the world of tech as the world's mobile phone leaders

get together to outdo each other with their latest designs at the

Mobile World Congress in Barcelona today. Samsung are expected to show

off the Galaxy S5, an upgrade to its flagship smartphone. And wearable

tech is expecting to be big, with many companies set to show off new

smartwatches at the show too. Last night we bid goodbye to the

22nd Winter Olympics with a spectacular ceremony in Sochi.

Russia topped the medal table but it was a good Games for Team GB, who

passed the three-medal target set by UK Sport. Our athletes have been

promised extra funding for the next four years because they did so well.

So here's a look back at the icy highs and chilly lows of the past

few weeks. Not since 1924 have Great Britain

won four medals at a Winter Olympics, so as the ganes-mac were

brought to a close, Team GB could reflect on a job well done. -- as

the Games. Jenny Jones got the snowball rolling, with a bronze in

the snowboard slopestlye, Britain's first ever medal on the slopes.

Lizzy Yarnold then continued our fine tradition in the women's

skeleton, keeping the gold medal firmly in British hands. And then

the curlers had us all grabbing for our sweeping brushes, winning two

medals in this ancient and absorbing game. UK Sport invested ?13.4

million in funding to achieve their medal target at the Games, but they

could have had even more. Elise Christie's three disqualifications

in short track were hard to take. Highly-rated slopestyle skier James

Woods was hit by a hip injury in training. And John Jackson's

bobsleigh crew led briefly on a tense final afternoon in the Sochi

sun. But not everyone was happy with the decision to hold the Games in

Sochi. Some people protested about the lack of rights in Russia, and

particularly the way the government there treats gay people. On the

slopes though, things have gone well. There was enough snow, plenty

of world records and some memories that will last a long time. And if

you're missing the action already, don't worry, because the Paralympics

starts in just under two weeks' time.

But were you inspired by Sochi? Well, looking at your messages to us

on the website, it looks like you definitely were.

Cameron in Somerset was inspired by Lizzy Yarnold to take up skeleton

bobsleigh. He is aiming to compete at the 2022 Winter Olympics.

Lucy from Guildford says, "I'm already an ice skater. Seeing how

young some of the athletes were has pushed my dream to go to the Winter

Olympics further." Thanks so much for all those

comments, keep them coming in. In the Premier League, there was

brilliant entertainment at Anfield yesterday as Liverpool kept their

title hopes alive with a fantastic 4-3 win over Swansea, in a match

that went back and forth several times. Daniel Sturridge gave the

home side the lead inside three minutes. Jordan Henderson made it

two shortly afterwards, but Swansea hit back with two goals in quick

succession from former Liverpool man Jonjo Shelvey and Wilfried Bony to

make it 2-2. The two sides traded goals again before Henderson

eventually grabbed the decisive seventh goal, to complete a big win

for Brendan Rodgers' side. I don't think we are at our best.

But credit to Swansea as well, because they pressed us quite well.

They denied us spaces at times. So, we know we can score goals. We know

we were not on one of our better days. But we are a team that has the

resilience to keep fighting. Showbiz now, and he won the Sound of

2014 earlier this year and now singer-songwriter sam smith has got

himself a number one single. He's at the top of the UK singles charts

with "Money On My Mind". It's thought Sam's success at the BRIT

awards, where he won the Critics Choice award, helped him sell over

100,000 copies. It's the first time the winner of that award has done

this. Last up, to a special delivery at

Brussels airport in Belgium. Excited fans were waiting for the arrival of

a pair of pandas who made a long journey from China. Sing Way,

meaning "twinkling star", and How How, meaning "cute", are on loan to

Belgium for 15 years. They'll start a special breeding programme and go
