Hi, everyone.

0:00:100:00:11

Martin here with the top stories this Wednesday afternoon.

0:00:110:00:15

First, there's been a strong earthquake in central Italy,

0:00:150:00:19

around 65 miles north-east of the capital, Rome.

0:00:190:00:21

It's left at least 73 people dead and many more missing.

0:00:230:00:26

Naz has the story.

0:00:260:00:29

The earthquake struck in the early hours of this morning.

0:00:290:00:34

It was strong enough to destroy buildings in towns and villages

0:00:340:00:38

across this mountainous area of Italy.

0:00:380:00:41

The walls of homes have collapsed.

0:00:410:00:43

And roads have been left cracked.

0:00:430:00:46

BBC reporter James Reynolds is in the town of Amatrice,

0:00:460:00:51

one of the worst affected areas.

0:00:510:00:56

This is one of the town's main streets and as I look down it I can

0:00:560:01:00

see damaged buildings on either side of the road.

0:01:000:01:03

I just want to show you over here.

0:01:030:01:06

This is one of the biggest buildings that has been hit.

0:01:060:01:09

It hasn't collapsed, but it is now entirely uninhabitable.

0:01:090:01:16

Rescue crews are doing all they can to help people who've been affected.

0:01:160:01:21

But it's going to be a while before we know just how bad the damage is.

0:01:210:01:27

If you're upset by anything you see in the news,

0:01:270:01:29

remember there's loads of advice about what to do

0:01:290:01:31

at Newsround online.

0:01:310:01:34

In other news, a nine-year-old American boy who had a double-hand

0:01:340:01:38

transplant has talking about life with his new hands,

0:01:380:01:42

one year on from surgery.

0:01:420:01:47

Going back and forth.

0:01:470:01:52

Zion lost his hands and feet to a serious

0:01:520:01:55

infection as a baby.

0:01:550:01:55

He can already walk on his prosthetic legs,

0:01:550:01:57

but it's taken him some time to get to grips with his new hands.

0:01:570:02:01

Now, he says all he wants to do is play sport!

0:02:010:02:04

I feel happy about many hands.

0:02:040:02:11

-- my new hands.

0:02:110:02:12

I like now that I can throw a football further than when I

0:02:120:02:16

didn't have hands.

0:02:160:02:20

As we celebrate the victorious return of Team GB from Rio,

0:02:200:02:24

we here at Newsround HQ are delighted to say that diving duo

0:02:240:02:29

and Olympic gold medalists Jack Law and Chris Mears have been to visit.

0:02:290:02:32

So we thought we'd put them to the test, and find out a few

0:02:320:02:36

things you may not already know.

0:02:360:02:38

Jenny's got the questions

0:02:380:02:39

COMMENTATOR: Upper-80s needed, boys.

0:02:390:02:42

Come on!

0:02:420:02:48

Mixture.

0:02:480:02:51

I thought it was me.

0:02:510:02:53

Yeah, I thought it was me.

0:02:530:02:55

I was six and a half.

0:02:550:02:56

You were six?

0:02:560:02:57

I actually thought I was seven but

0:02:570:02:59

mum informed me I was six and a half.

0:02:590:03:01

OK, blimey.

0:03:010:03:05

Without a doubt.

0:03:050:03:06

If I could push it into the camera any further.

0:03:060:03:08

I cried.

0:03:080:03:10

Chris was shouting a lot.

0:03:100:03:11

He jumped onto me and cried.

0:03:110:03:12

Yeah.

0:03:120:03:13

I thought, OK, cool this is fun.

0:03:130:03:15

Like, 100%.

0:03:150:03:18

Put my head there.

0:03:180:03:20

Without a doubt.

0:03:200:03:21

I don't eat a lot of food.

0:03:210:03:23

Pretty much anything really.

0:03:230:03:24

No mushrooms.

0:03:240:03:25

No mushrooms for me.

0:03:250:03:26

No tomatoes and mushrooms.

0:03:260:03:27

Anything else though.

0:03:270:03:30

I don't know that is quite a tough one.

0:03:300:03:33

I am going to go there, halfway.

0:03:330:03:35

I'd go for me.

0:03:350:03:37

I hide it from you.

0:03:370:03:39

I'd try to play it off like I am cool.

0:03:390:03:42

Good.

0:03:420:03:49

Oh, what are you doing?

0:03:490:03:54

Jack.

0:03:540:03:59

I mean, he got two Olympic medals.

0:03:590:04:01

I can't, I mean, yeah.

0:04:010:04:06

He couldn't have done it without me.

0:04:060:04:08

You picked yourself?

0:04:080:04:09

I put myself.

0:04:090:04:10

I was number one last year.

0:04:100:04:12

Hats off, well done.

0:04:120:04:13

Now, I've got the big one.

0:04:130:04:14

As a team.

0:04:140:04:15

As a team we are Olympic champions together.

0:04:150:04:17

Don't scratch it.

0:04:170:04:19

We are a world number one together, which is good.

0:04:190:04:25

The world's largest aircraft has had a bumpy landing

0:04:250:04:27

during its second test flight.

0:04:270:04:32

The makers of the Airlander ten are trying to work out what caused

0:04:320:04:35

it to nose-dive earlier today in Bedfordshire.

0:04:350:04:37

But they say the 92-metre long airship managed to complete

0:04:370:04:40

all the tasks it was supposed to.

0:04:400:04:44

Thankfully no-one was hurt - but the Airlander did suffer a bit

0:04:440:04:47

of damage to the cockpit.

0:04:470:04:48

That's all from the team today.

0:04:480:04:51

Newsround's back on CBBC tomorrow morning at 7:40.

0:04:510:04:53

Have a great evening.
