Good afternoon.

0:00:040:00:05

I'm Jenny, and you're watching Newsround live on CBBC.

0:00:050:00:07

Don't go anywhere!

0:00:070:00:09

Will it be Andrew, Candice or Jane?

0:00:090:00:11

We've got your Bake Off predictions.

0:00:110:00:14

And fancy finding this in your front garden.

0:00:140:00:22

If you live near to an airport,

0:00:270:00:29

you're probably used to seeing planes flying above like this.

0:00:290:00:34

Well, for people living near the UK's busiest airport -

0:00:340:00:37

Heathrow in London - things could be about to get busier.

0:00:370:00:40

The Government has today approved a brand new runway there.

0:00:400:00:42

It would be the airport's third runway and could allow 260,000

0:00:420:00:46

more flights a year.

0:00:460:00:48

Businesses are keen for this to happen, as they say it will bring

0:00:480:00:52

them more work from other countries and more jobs.

0:00:520:00:55

But many people living near the airport are worried

0:00:550:00:58

about more noise and air pollution.

0:00:580:01:01

And some will need to move away because almost 800 homes

0:01:010:01:03

will have to be demolished.

0:01:030:01:05

Right now, planes take off and land at Heathrow Airport

0:01:050:01:08

about every 90 seconds.

0:01:080:01:10

For schools nearby, it can be very noisy.

0:01:100:01:17

When I sit inside, I like them,

0:01:170:01:20

but when I can't hear people talking, I do not like them.

0:01:200:01:24

When the aeroplanes go,

0:01:240:01:25

it makes lots of wind and I like the wind.

0:01:250:01:28

When people are playing their games,

0:01:280:01:29

they can't hear what each other are saying.

0:01:290:01:32

Heathrow has paid for this school to have special pods

0:01:320:01:34

to keep the noise out.

0:01:340:01:36

When you go in it, it's quiet.

0:01:360:01:40

They're nice and warm.

0:01:400:01:42

They don't make too much noise.

0:01:420:01:46

The runway isn't expected to be built for more than ten years,

0:01:460:01:49

but today's news brings Heathrow's expansion one step closer.

0:01:490:01:55

For the full story on what's happening

0:01:550:01:57

at the UK's biggest airport, then take a look

0:01:570:02:00

at our guide online.

0:02:000:02:02

Next...

0:02:020:02:03

The biggest refugee and migrant camp in Europe has today started

0:02:030:02:06

to be demolished.

0:02:060:02:06

Thousands of people have been living in what's called the Jungle

0:02:060:02:10

after escaping war and poverty in their own countries.

0:02:100:02:13

They were living in tents and huts in poor conditions

0:02:130:02:16

and now they're being moved out. It's a massive operation.

0:02:160:02:21

Calais, in the north of France.

0:02:210:02:23

Around 8,000 migrants and refugees,

0:02:230:02:26

including 1,000 children, settled in an area nicknamed the Jungle.

0:02:260:02:31

The makeshift camp has grown over the past few years

0:02:310:02:34

to cover about the size of 500 football pitches.

0:02:340:02:37

Earlier this year, authorities in France said they were shutting

0:02:370:02:41

the camp and an area was cleared.

0:02:410:02:44

Now the rest of it is being closed down.

0:02:440:02:46

More than 1,200 police are carrying out the clearance.

0:02:460:02:50

Already, thousands of people have left on buses

0:02:500:02:53

to stay at official reception centres

0:02:530:02:56

right across France.

0:02:560:02:58

Almost 200 children from the camp have been brought to the UK

0:02:580:03:01

to start a new life here.

0:03:010:03:04

Some people say that more should be allowed to come.

0:03:040:03:07

Children are the only group allowed to stay in Calais.

0:03:070:03:10

They will be housed in a special area of the camp,

0:03:100:03:13

while the rest of the Jungle is taken apart.

0:03:130:03:16

It's still unclear

0:03:160:03:18

where the rest of the migrants and refugees will go.

0:03:180:03:21

Some don't want to leave the camp.

0:03:210:03:22

They are worried that it means

0:03:220:03:24

they won't be able to reach the UK,

0:03:240:03:26

where many think they will have a better life.

0:03:260:03:30

Now, imagine finding this in your front garden.

0:03:300:03:33

Yes, really.

0:03:330:03:34

Simon in Luton was reversing his car out of the drive

0:03:340:03:38

when the wheel went into a hole.

0:03:380:03:39

A very big hole.

0:03:390:03:42

After a bit of digging, he discovered this air raid shelter.

0:03:420:03:45

Lots of homes had them in the Second World War

0:03:450:03:47

to keep people safe from enemy bombs.

0:03:470:03:53

My car went down one of the flowerbeds,

0:03:530:03:55

but as it turned out,

0:03:550:03:56

the ground was opening up underneath the front tyre.

0:03:560:03:58

Popped up, looked and I found this massive crater in the front garden.

0:03:580:04:02

It's quite unique, but if we can, I definitely want to keep it.

0:04:020:04:07

Cake lovers across the UK, listen up.

0:04:070:04:08

Tomorrow is The Great British Bake Off final.

0:04:080:04:11

It's the last series to go out on the BBC and it's thought

0:04:110:04:15

up to 15 million people will tune in to see

0:04:150:04:17

who will become the ultimate baker.

0:04:170:04:20

Will it be Andrew, Candice or Jane?

0:04:200:04:23

We're asking you to get in touch online and tell us

0:04:230:04:25

who you think should win and why.

0:04:250:04:28

Now, there's been a lot of love for Candice from you guys.

0:04:280:04:32

That's all from the team today.

0:04:560:04:57

Newsround's back right here tomorrow morning at 7.40.
