Hi, I'm Leah with another Newsround update. Coming up, the frogs that

:00:00.:00:08.

glow in the dark, and Jay Z and Beyonce rock the house at the

:00:09.:00:21.

Grammys. Now to the peace talks that are trying to bring an end to

:00:22.:00:26.

Syria's three-year civil war which has killed over 100,000 people. The

:00:27.:00:29.

Syrian government has agreed to allow women and children to leave

:00:30.:00:32.

the city of Homs, which has been gripped by heavy fighting for many

:00:33.:00:36.

months. It will also allow aid trucks to enter the city. The talks

:00:37.:00:39.

have been taking place in Switzerland, between Syrian

:00:40.:00:41.

president Assad's government and those who want them out of power.

:00:42.:00:46.

Today, people in the UK will remember the six million Jews and

:00:47.:00:50.

other people killed by the German Nazi party during the Second World

:00:51.:00:53.

War. Services are taking place all round the country as part of

:00:54.:00:56.

National Holocaust Memorial Day. I've been looking at what it means.

:00:57.:01:00.

It is never easy to think about what happened during World War II.

:01:01.:01:05.

Germany's leader, Adolf Hitler, thought Jews and other people from

:01:06.:01:09.

certain religions and groups were inferior and planned horrific ways

:01:10.:01:13.

to get rid of them. In what became known as the Holocaust, he had

:01:14.:01:18.

millions of people sent to special prisons called concentration camps.

:01:19.:01:23.

Families were split up, there was little food, extremely hard physical

:01:24.:01:26.

work and many people were killed there. It is estimated barely seven

:01:27.:01:32.

out of ten Jews from all across Europe died. Today is a mark of

:01:33.:01:39.

respect for all victims of the Holocaust, as well as victims of

:01:40.:01:42.

other mass killings around the world. It helps teach us about these

:01:43.:01:47.

terrible events and make sure they are not forgotten. But thousands of

:01:48.:01:54.

children did manage to escape Hitler's Nazi Germany and were sent

:01:55.:01:58.

to the UK for safety. They said goodbye to their families and were

:01:59.:02:04.

put on special trains, known as Kindertransport. And now two

:02:05.:02:07.

survivors of the Holocaust have come to this school in South Lanarkshire

:02:08.:02:15.

to tell their story. We were put on the train about our parents. We came

:02:16.:02:24.

to this country as refugees. Henry and Ingrid were two of the children

:02:25.:02:29.

lucky enough to escape. Do send your child on a train to a foreign

:02:30.:02:33.

country, there is no idea if the child will get there. It's a

:02:34.:02:37.

traumatic and courageous decision to take, but many of us survived. We

:02:38.:02:43.

were the lucky ones. Unfortunately, I lost quite a lot of relations in

:02:44.:02:48.

the camps. When Henry and Ingrid were children they had to leave

:02:49.:02:51.

everything they knew behind because life in Germany for them was too

:02:52.:02:55.

dangerous. They arrived in the UK and settled into life here. Over 70

:02:56.:03:00.

years later, they feel their story is an important one for children to

:03:01.:03:04.

hear about. It was really eye opening. Quite emotional, when you

:03:05.:03:11.

saw how important this was to them and how they thought it was

:03:12.:03:15.

important to spread the message. It was really interesting to see what

:03:16.:03:20.

really happened. Not what the historians say or anything from

:03:21.:03:24.

books. It was real life and real people. Henry and Ingrid think it is

:03:25.:03:28.

important for people to learn about the past to help stop terrible

:03:29.:03:31.

things like the Holocaust happening again. Back in the UK, and there's

:03:32.:03:40.

been more heavy rain in parts of South West England already badly hit

:03:41.:03:44.

by flooding. Somerset has been badly affected, the council there has

:03:45.:03:47.

declare a major incident There are 14 flood warnings in place across

:03:48.:03:50.

England and Wales and snow is also expected in part of the UK today.

:03:51.:03:59.

Music superstars from around the globe were hoping to grab a Grammy

:04:00.:04:03.

last night. Beyonce and Jay Z open the awards, where Daft Punk were the

:04:04.:04:17.

big winners. Lorde picked up the winner for single of the year. In

:04:18.:04:26.

the FA Cup, Chelsea beat Stoke 1-0 to win a tie away to Man City in the

:04:27.:04:32.

next round. The only goal of the game came from Brazilian midfielder

:04:33.:04:34.

Oscar with an incredible free-kick in the first half, to put Jose

:04:35.:04:38.

Mourinho's side into the last 16 - it was also Jose's birthday! Now to

:04:39.:04:42.

the frogs that glow! Take a look at these amazing pictures.

:04:43.:04:45.

Conservationists at Chester Zoo have come up with a way to keep an eye on

:04:46.:04:48.

critically endangered frogs all by injecting them with harmless strips

:04:49.:04:55.

of fluorescent silicon. It means conservationists can now track their

:04:56.:04:59.

whereabouts. Head to the website for our top stories.
