Hi, Ricky here with your Thursday Newsround update. | :00:11. | :00:14.
First up, it's a big night for English and Scottish women's | :00:15. | :00:17.
football teams tonight, as both will be battling to make | :00:18. | :00:20.
it through to the next round of Euro 2017. | :00:21. | :00:25.
BBC Newsbeat reporter Ben Mundy sent us this. | :00:26. | :00:31.
So, Scotland play Spain into Deventer, England face | :00:32. | :00:33.
Portugal here in Tilburg, where there is a huge | :00:34. | :00:35.
We have seen some football fans enjoying some of the rides. | :00:36. | :00:41.
England and Scotland can qualify for the quarterfinals. | :00:42. | :00:42.
England need just a draw against Portugal to finish | :00:43. | :00:45.
Scotland need to beat Spain by two goals and hope England win. | :00:46. | :00:52.
It should be a very interesting night football at Euro 2017. | :00:53. | :00:59.
More sport now and this guy, Adam Peaty, is shaking | :01:00. | :01:02.
up the swimming world with his superfast skills right now. | :01:03. | :01:05.
He won his second gold in the World Championships | :01:06. | :01:07.
And he keeps breaking so many records, we can hardly keep up. | :01:08. | :01:15.
Here's what you need to know about him.... | :01:16. | :01:17.
Superstar swimmer, record-breaker and hip-hop music fan, | :01:18. | :01:19.
I'll tell you more later, Adam Peaty. | :01:20. | :01:25.
He broke his own world record in the swimming pool not once... | :01:26. | :01:28.
Being the first swimmer in the world to go under 26 seconds in 50 metres. | :01:29. | :01:46.
There's not many things you can do in 26 seconds. | :01:47. | :01:48.
Maybe take a selfie, text your mum or watch a teeny | :01:49. | :01:51.
By the time you've done that, Peaty has already stormed | :01:52. | :01:58.
through the pool and is probably chilling at the side waiting | :01:59. | :02:01.
That's why we're giving him the nickname Super Peat. | :02:02. | :02:08.
OK, we might need to work on that but here are three other | :02:09. | :02:11.
He listens to hip-hop and grime music before he goes for a race. | :02:12. | :02:17.
And he used to be scared of sitting down in the bath. | :02:18. | :02:25.
But look at him now, a world-record holding, | :02:26. | :02:32.
hip-hop and grime listening, swimming machine. | :02:33. | :02:36.
Next, take a look at this little guy. | :02:37. | :02:44.
Recently, the numbers of these tiny mammals have dropped. | :02:45. | :02:49.
Whitney went to meet the people on a mission to help them. | :02:50. | :02:54.
The hazel dormouse weighs between 18 to 20 grams, fruits, | :02:55. | :02:58.
flowers, nuts and insects are what they like to eat | :02:59. | :03:01.
and woodland in parts of England and Wales is where they live. | :03:02. | :03:06.
I've come to these woods in Nottinghamshire where nest boxes | :03:07. | :03:09.
have been put up to help keep dormice safe and it's Ian's job | :03:10. | :03:12.
It looks like we've got a dormouse in there in a very deep sleep, | :03:13. | :03:18.
so we can take that off and have a look | :03:19. | :03:21.
So, they go into a large bag just to make sure if they are active, | :03:22. | :03:32.
that they can't escape, because they are very fast | :03:33. | :03:34.
It's in a very deep sleep probably because it's been raining | :03:35. | :03:39.
We've marked some of these animals with a small chip and we're just | :03:40. | :03:48.
looking to see if this one's got one in. | :03:49. | :03:52.
We're just putting him in a small bag to weigh him. | :03:53. | :03:57.
There's plenty of air in there for the time this | :03:58. | :03:59.
Simply because we don't manage our woodlands very well. | :04:00. | :04:13.
We used to cut our woodlands regularly to take timber out and | :04:14. | :04:19.
firewood out and we don't do that any more. So a lot about woodland is | :04:20. | :04:22.
becoming shaded. So the areas where dormice live, | :04:23. | :04:28.
the shrub storey is not so frequently found in our | :04:29. | :04:36.
woodland any more. So, now he's back inside that box | :04:37. | :04:41.
and we block the whole again so he can't escape and what we do | :04:42. | :04:44.
is we take this box and we put it back on the tree where we found it | :04:45. | :04:48.
and now we know he's back safely in his box, | :04:49. | :04:51.
we just take that away. That's all from me, Newsround's | :04:52. | :04:53.
back right here tomorrow Don't forget to check out | :04:54. | :04:55.
the website for all the rest | :04:56. | :05:01. |
