Hi, Ricky here live from the Newsround studio | 0:00:06 | 0:00:08
this Friday afternoon. | 0:00:08 | 0:00:09
Coming up in the next few minutes... | 0:00:09 | 0:00:13
The lost teddy bear that found its way home. | 0:00:13 | 0:00:15
The summer camp with a difference. | 0:00:15 | 0:00:18
And the spectacular sights in store for us this weekend. | 0:00:18 | 0:00:28
If you've got a younger brother or sister, then the chances | 0:00:33 | 0:00:36
are they have one of these - a stuffed toy. | 0:00:36 | 0:00:39
Well, one boy in Texas, America, lost his at an airport | 0:00:39 | 0:00:42
and was devastated. | 0:00:42 | 0:00:43
Little did he know someone was keeping him safe. | 0:00:43 | 0:00:48
This is the young man. | 0:00:48 | 0:00:50
Look at that bear. | 0:00:50 | 0:00:53
This is four-year-old Luke and his teddy bear - | 0:00:53 | 0:00:55
and his name is Teddy Bear. | 0:00:55 | 0:00:58
Here they are, reunited at last at an airport | 0:00:58 | 0:01:00
in Dallas, Texas, in America. | 0:01:00 | 0:01:03
So, how did Luke and Teddy Bear get separated? | 0:01:03 | 0:01:07
Luke was on his way home from visiting his | 0:01:07 | 0:01:09
grandparents in Colorado. | 0:01:09 | 0:01:10
It seems like Teddy Bear might have fallen from a bench when the family | 0:01:10 | 0:01:14
were waiting for their car from the airport. | 0:01:14 | 0:01:16
And that's when he became lost. | 0:01:16 | 0:01:19
Luke and his family were really upset. | 0:01:19 | 0:01:21
I mean, he's lost his favourite toy. | 0:01:21 | 0:01:23
They searched for days. | 0:01:23 | 0:01:25
And Teddy Bear was missing for a whole week. | 0:01:25 | 0:01:28
Luke's mum put loads of posts on social media, | 0:01:28 | 0:01:31
asking if anyone had seen the beloved bear. | 0:01:31 | 0:01:35
And then the airport got in touch. | 0:01:35 | 0:01:38
Teddy Bear was found! | 0:01:38 | 0:01:41
He'd been picked up by an employee and put in a safe place in the staff | 0:01:41 | 0:01:45
room to wait for his owner. | 0:01:45 | 0:01:47
While waiting, he went on quite an adventure | 0:01:47 | 0:01:49
around the airport - lucky thing. | 0:01:49 | 0:01:52
So, Teddy Bear is back where he belongs at home. | 0:01:52 | 0:01:55
And hopefully, there will be no more airport adventures - | 0:01:55 | 0:01:57
without Luke, of course. | 0:01:57 | 0:02:02
Next, climbing ladders, putting out fire and helping | 0:02:02 | 0:02:05
to rescue people are just some of the duties of a firefighter. | 0:02:05 | 0:02:08
But in many countries around the world, more men do | 0:02:08 | 0:02:11
this job than women. | 0:02:11 | 0:02:12
In America, one summer camp with a difference | 0:02:12 | 0:02:14
is aiming to change that. | 0:02:14 | 0:02:15
Check this out. | 0:02:15 | 0:02:18
Welcome to Camp Heat. | 0:02:18 | 0:02:21
Do not let anybody tell you that a woman cannot do this job. | 0:02:21 | 0:02:24
There are more than 1.1 million firefighters in America, | 0:02:24 | 0:02:29
but only 7% of these are women. | 0:02:29 | 0:02:33
That is why Arlington County Fire Department started Camp Heat. | 0:02:33 | 0:02:38
Little boys play with fire trucks. | 0:02:38 | 0:02:41
They get introduced to it naturally, but girls just don't. | 0:02:41 | 0:02:46
So we decided as a group that having a camp for young women would be | 0:02:46 | 0:02:50
a good idea to expose them to what we do. | 0:02:50 | 0:02:53
It runs in the summer for teenage girls. | 0:02:53 | 0:02:58
They learn how to give emergency first aid and use equipment | 0:02:58 | 0:03:03
such as the jaws of life, which are used to cut into cars | 0:03:03 | 0:03:06
in rescue operations. | 0:03:06 | 0:03:07
It's all about technique, it's not about strength. | 0:03:07 | 0:03:10
We wanted to make sure they got to practise | 0:03:10 | 0:03:15
with our our real tools, in our real gear, carrying real | 0:03:15 | 0:03:18
equipment to see that it is totally doable with the right technique | 0:03:18 | 0:03:21
and right training. | 0:03:21 | 0:03:22
They taught me how much the hoses weigh, how hard it is, | 0:03:22 | 0:03:25
how hot these suits are. | 0:03:25 | 0:03:27
What do the girls think of their training? | 0:03:27 | 0:03:30
I wanted to prove that women are equally as strong, | 0:03:30 | 0:03:34
both mentally and physically, as men. | 0:03:34 | 0:03:36
Knowing you can save someone from a nine-storey building | 0:03:36 | 0:03:39
and you can save someone who can't help themselves. | 0:03:39 | 0:03:41
I think that's really rewarding. | 0:03:41 | 0:03:45
I really want to go out and help save people, | 0:03:45 | 0:03:47
save people's lives. | 0:03:47 | 0:03:50
I realised I can do it, she can do it. | 0:03:50 | 0:03:52
It's nice. | 0:03:52 | 0:03:53
Next, if you look up into the night sky this weekend, | 0:03:53 | 0:03:57
you might see some spectacular sights and that's because there's | 0:03:57 | 0:04:01
going to be not one, not two, but three meteor showers. | 0:04:01 | 0:04:05
The Perseid meteor shower, which happens every year, | 0:04:05 | 0:04:07
should be visible over the next few nights and it gives stargazers | 0:04:07 | 0:04:10
the chance to spot shooting stars. | 0:04:10 | 0:04:12
It's going to be overlapped by the Delta Aquarids | 0:04:12 | 0:04:16
and the Alpha Capricornids meteor showers, which are known | 0:04:16 | 0:04:18
for their bright fireballs in the night skies. | 0:04:18 | 0:04:22
It is thought they will be at their brightest tonight, | 0:04:22 | 0:04:26
with as many as ten to 20 shooting stars dashing across the night sky. | 0:04:26 | 0:04:29
Meteor showers are caused by debris from comets entering Earth's | 0:04:29 | 0:04:31
atmosphere at high speeds. | 0:04:31 | 0:04:37
For lots more information on this, head to Newsround online | 0:04:37 | 0:04:40
for the full guide. | 0:04:40 | 0:04:42
And while you're there, you'll also find our interview | 0:04:42 | 0:04:44
with TV superstar JoJo Siwa. | 0:04:44 | 0:04:47
We asked her your questions - so check out what she had to say. | 0:04:47 | 0:04:57
That's all from me, Newsround's back over the weekend. | 0:04:57 | 0:04:59
Have a great weekend. | 0:04:59 | 0:04:59
Hello, everybody. | 0:05:04 | 0:05:05
My favourite TV programme on CBBC | 0:05:05 | 0:05:06
is Whoops I Missed The Bus, | 0:05:06 | 0:05:08
because it's such a funny TV show, | 0:05:08 | 0:05:10
and I love all the bloggers | 0:05:10 | 0:05:13
and the What You Thinking, Pet? part makes me laugh. | 0:05:13 | 0:05:16 |
