It's Friday, I'm Jenny, you are live with Newsround.

:00:00.:00:00.

Keep watching, because we've got all this on the way!

:00:07.:00:10.

And the town that still thinks it's Christmas.

:00:11.:00:19.

Schools in Orkney, Shetland and the Western Isles of Scotland

:00:20.:00:28.

have all closed today as Storm Gertrude hits the UK,

:00:29.:00:34.

strong winds measuring up to 70mph are due

:00:35.:00:36.

to arrive this morning, with many train companies taking

:00:37.:00:39.

the decision to cut services because of worries

:00:40.:00:40.

Strong winds and heavy rain are likely to affect people living

:00:41.:00:53.

in Northern Ireland and Northern England,

:00:54.:00:55.

More child refugees from the middle eastern country of Syria will be

:00:56.:00:59.

The government will invite kids who have been separated

:01:00.:01:03.

from their families and are currently living

:01:04.:01:04.

in refugee camps - not those who have already made

:01:05.:01:07.

War and conflict in Syria in the Middle East has sent

:01:08.:01:11.

thousands of people, many of them children,

:01:12.:01:13.

looking for safety in other countries.

:01:14.:01:15.

Some have travelled to Europe, making the dangerous journey

:01:16.:01:17.

Children can get split up from their families and end

:01:18.:01:22.

Others are living in refugee camps in countries neighbouring Syria -

:01:23.:01:26.

Here, they live in tents and shelters.

:01:27.:01:34.

Last year the government said that it would allow 20,000 people

:01:35.:01:36.

from camps like these to live in the UK.

:01:37.:01:39.

They have come under pressure to do more,

:01:40.:01:41.

especially for children who have travelled to Europe on their own.

:01:42.:01:45.

They said they will give more help but have not put a precise

:01:46.:01:48.

They want to focus on children in camps in places like Jordan

:01:49.:01:54.

and Lebanon but ministers say they do not want to encourage more

:01:55.:01:57.

families to make a very dangerous trip across Europe.

:01:58.:02:06.

Labour have said they need to help the children already here in Europe.

:02:07.:02:13.

Some charities like Save the Children are worried.

:02:14.:02:16.

The war in Syria has gone on for five years now,

:02:17.:02:19.

a long time and lots of children have already fled that area

:02:20.:02:22.

It is good news the government wants to help these children

:02:23.:02:27.

but it is important they also help those who have already fled

:02:28.:02:30.

The details are not clear but more vulnerable children will be able

:02:31.:02:36.

There are worries that many thousands more already in Europe

:02:37.:02:42.

Lots of you might have your own Barbie at home but take a good look

:02:43.:02:50.

The toy maker Mattel has introduced new different shapes

:02:51.:02:59.

of the well-known character - including curvy, tall and petite.

:03:00.:03:01.

As well as new skin tones and more than 20 different eye colours.

:03:02.:03:05.

Many people had complained that the traditional barbie

:03:06.:03:06.

It shows what is actually happening in the real world and helps people

:03:07.:03:12.

Changing the sizes and making them different, and they will not be

:03:13.:03:19.

Sometimes it can be quite boring to have them all blondes and perfect

:03:20.:03:26.

Next, to a little town in Kent, in the South of England,

:03:27.:03:35.

where it's still Christmas, and it could even continue

:03:36.:03:37.

I've been to Paddock Wood to investigate.

:03:38.:03:46.

A typical high street on a rainy day in late January -

:03:47.:03:49.

shopping bags, mums and dads rushing to and from work...

:03:50.:03:51.

Here in Paddock wood, it still looks a lot like Christmas.

:03:52.:03:56.

That's because there's a collared dove, nesting on her eggs,

:03:57.:03:58.

The mum-to-be was discovered when the council started to take

:03:59.:04:06.

All nesting birds in the UKare protected under something called

:04:07.:04:15.

the wildlife and countryside act, which makes it illegal to interfere

:04:16.:04:18.

with an active nest, even if it's in your back garden.

:04:19.:04:20.

That means the tree will have to stay in place until the eggs

:04:21.:04:23.

hatch and the chicks have flown the nest.

:04:24.:04:25.

So what do the local children think?

:04:26.:04:32.

It is quite good to bring a bit of Christmas spirit into January. I

:04:33.:04:39.

think it is cool because not many exciting things happening here. I

:04:40.:04:42.

think it is quite sweet to have some wildlife near the village. I hate

:04:43.:04:49.

that -- I hope that her chicks survive and she has more eggs later

:04:50.:04:54.

on. Hopefully it stays in the tree so that we can keep it up until next

:04:55.:04:59.

Christmas. You can do the call, can't you? Yeah.

:05:00.:05:02.

I went to the nearby wildlife rescue to

:05:03.:05:09.

Find out how long their feathered guest might stay.

:05:10.:05:14.

Once they have hatched, it normally takes from ten to 15 days before

:05:15.:05:18.

they're ready to leave nest. and tree, could be here

:05:19.:05:20.

past Valentine's Day. They make very basic nests but one

:05:21.:05:32.

of the most important factors is that they have lots of food around.

:05:33.:05:38.

You may find that there is a garden near by and for them it is quite a

:05:39.:05:40.

nice little site. Comedian Jo Brand has

:05:41.:05:42.

finished her massive She walked from Hull

:05:43.:05:47.

all the way to Liverpool. It took her seven days

:05:48.:05:54.

to complete the 135-mile trek. Newsround's back

:05:55.:05:59.

right here at 4.20pm.

:06:00.:06:01.
