This tale is called...

0:00:410:00:43

The Racing Princess

0:00:430:00:47

Once upon a time, a long, long time ago,

0:00:470:00:50

there was a princess called Brightwater.

0:00:500:00:54

Princess Brightwater lived in a village in North America.

0:00:540:01:00

And she was a very fast runner.

0:01:000:01:03

She said she would only marry a man who could beat her in a race.

0:01:030:01:08

Ready?

0:01:090:01:10

0:01:150:01:16

But someone was coming to the village.

0:01:210:01:24

His name was Hot Foot.

0:01:240:01:27

Hot Foot was a very, very fast runner.

0:01:270:01:30

He even had to tie heavy stones around his ankles

0:01:310:01:35

to walk more slowly.

0:01:350:01:38

Hot Foot wanted to race against the princess.

0:01:380:01:42

If he won the race he would marry her.

0:01:420:01:45

On the way to the village,

0:01:490:01:51

Hot Foot met a man who had one ear to the ground.

0:01:510:01:56

How Foot asked the man what he was doing.

0:01:570:02:00

The man explained that he was listening to the plants

0:02:010:02:05

-breathing in the forest.

-What?

0:02:050:02:08

-Can you hear the sound of the plants breathing?

-Erm...

0:02:080:02:12

Listen carefully.

0:02:120:02:15

Wow!

0:02:180:02:19

The man was called Sharp Ear,

0:02:230:02:26

because he was so good at listening.

0:02:260:02:29

Hot Foot and Sharp Ear became friends.

0:02:300:02:34

Sharp Ear said he would travel to the village

0:02:340:02:37

to see Hot Foot run his race.

0:03:110:03:15

# You'll be there for them too. #

0:03:150:03:19

Further down the road,

0:03:260:03:28

Hot Foot and Sharp Ear met another man.

0:03:280:03:31

He was gazing up into the sky.

0:03:310:03:35

So Hot Foot asked him what he was doing.

0:03:350:03:40

The man explained that he had fired an arrow into the sky

0:03:400:03:44

at breakfast time.

0:03:440:03:46

And it hadn't come down yet.

0:03:460:03:48

Ah!

0:03:480:03:50

This man was called Straight Arrow,

0:03:510:03:55

because he was so good at firing arrows.

0:03:550:03:58

Hot Foot and Sharp Ear became friends with Straight Arrow.

0:03:580:04:03

Straight Arrow said he would travel to the village

0:04:030:04:07

to see the race as well.

0:04:070:04:09

0:04:310:04:33

# Morning till night You'll be there for them too

0:04:330:04:38

# Come rain, come shine

0:04:380:04:40

# A friend is there for you

0:04:400:04:42

# You'll be there for them too. #

0:04:420:04:46

When they got to the village

0:04:520:04:54

Hot Foot asked Princess Brightwater if he could race against her.

0:04:540:04:59

The princess said yes.

0:04:590:05:01

So they started getting ready.

0:05:010:05:04

Stop!

0:05:070:05:08

The stones, the stones!

0:05:090:05:11

Oh, yes!

0:05:110:05:13

Hot Foot had to take his stones off before the race.

0:05:130:05:16

Ready...

0:05:170:05:20

On your marks,

0:05:200:05:21

get set...

0:05:210:05:24

GO!

0:05:240:05:25

Hot Foot and the princess both ran very quickly indeed.

0:05:260:05:30

They were both excellent runners.

0:05:330:05:36

Sometimes one of them was in front...

0:05:380:05:40

..and sometimes the other.

0:05:420:05:44

Come on, Hot Foot! Come on, Hot Foot!

0:05:440:05:47

But when they got to the top of the mountain,

0:05:470:05:50

-the princess shouted...

-"STOP!"

0:05:500:05:54

The princess said, "Let's sit under this tree and have a rest."

0:05:540:06:00

Hot Foot didn't mind having a rest.

0:06:000:06:02

The princess said, "We'll carry on with the race in a minute."

0:06:020:06:08

But she waited, and waited

0:06:130:06:17

until Hot Foot was asleep.

0:06:170:06:20

Then the princess got up and carried on running.

0:06:200:06:24

Back at the finish line, Sharp Ear and Straight Arrow

0:06:260:06:29

were waiting to see who was in the lead.

0:06:290:06:32

Suddenly they saw the princess running on her own.

0:06:320:06:37

Where was Hot Foot?

0:06:400:06:42

Sharp Ear thought he would have a listen.

0:06:420:06:45

-SNORING SOUND

-Oh, no!

0:06:450:06:47

Sharp Ear could hear Hot Foot snoring!

0:06:470:06:53

He told Straight Arrow that Hot Foot had gone to sleep.

0:06:530:06:57

So, Straight Arrow fired an arrow.

0:06:570:07:00

The arrow hit the tree and Hot Foot woke up.

0:07:020:07:06

He knew that the princess had tricked him.

0:07:070:07:10

So, he started running again.

0:07:100:07:13

He ran as quickly as he could.

0:07:170:07:19

Come on, Hot Foot! Come on, Hot Foot!

0:07:210:07:24

Hot Foot ran faster than the wind.

0:07:260:07:30

And, guess what?

0:07:300:07:31

He won!

0:07:310:07:33

No way!

0:07:330:07:34

Hot Foot said thank you to his friends for helping him.

0:07:390:07:43

The chief said that because he had won the race,

0:07:430:07:47

he could marry Princess Brightwater.

0:07:470:07:50

But Hot Foot said no.

0:07:500:07:52

He didn't want to marry someone who played naughty tricks.

0:07:520:07:57

Huh?!

0:07:570:07:58

The princess knew she had done wrong and she said sorry to Hot Foot.

0:07:580:08:03

After that, Hot Foot and the princess became good friends.

0:08:050:08:10

Yay!

0:08:100:08:12

Hot Foot, Sharp Ear and Straight Arrow liked the village so much

0:08:120:08:18

they decided to stay.

0:08:180:08:20

And Hot Foot and the princess raced happily ever after.

0:08:200:08:26

The end.
