Hi, I'm Ellie.

Hi, I'm Donte and today we're going to learn how to beatbox.

-BOTH:

-Let's go!

This is Lee and Mark and they're going to show us how it's done.

'Beatboxing is when you use your mouth, lips,

'tongue and voice to make musical sounds.'

What should we do first?

First thing we're going to do is warm up our voices

to make sure we're ready to beatbox and sing, OK?

We're going to take a big bit of imaginary bubble gum

and put it in our mouths.

Let me see you chewing. Have a good chomp round.

Now we've stretched our faces, we need to loosen up our faces,

so I need you to put your hands together like this.

We need to relax our face. We're going to shake our hands

in front of our ourselves and go "ah" at the same time.

and we'll get something like this - ready?

ALL: Ah-ah-ah-ah-ah!

'We warmed up our faces.'

'We played some games, making funny noises.'

ALL: Chun-chun-chun-chun-chun chun-chun-chun-chun-chun-chun.

Before we do the beatboxing, Mark will head into the studio

and set that up for us, ready for us to record.

-So we can say bye-bye, Mark.

-OK, see you later.

-Bye!

What happens now?

I'm going to teach you the different sounds you need for beatboxing.

First thing I want you to do is learn the bass drum.

It sounds like this -

BOOF! BOOF! BOOF! BOOF! BOOF!

You need a nice loud "B" sound like this.

ALL: Buh! Buh!

After three, both of you at the same time, ready?

-One, two, three...

-BOTH:

-BUH!

Excellent. The next sound is the high hat.

The high hat sounds like this -

T-T-T-T-T-T-TT-T-T-TTT.

After the count of three, can you both say the word "tea"?

-Ready? One, two, three.

-BOTH:

-Tea.

Good. Now I want you to whisper the word "tea",

so you go (tea).

-Ready? One, two, three.

-BOTH:

-(Tea.)

Good. Now we're going to take the breathy sound off the end,

so you end up with T-T.

-OK? Ready, one, two, three.

-BOTH:

-T.

Perfect. That's the high hat.

The last sound we need to learn is that snare drum

and the snare drum sounds like this.

PFT! PFT! PFT!

After three, can you both say the word "push"?

Ready? One, two, three.

-BOTH:

-Push.

-Good.

I want you to make the "P" sound at the start as loud as you can.

-Here we go. One, two, three.

-BOTH:

-Push.

Good. This time we'll take out the letter "U".

So you just end up with "PSH", OK?

-Here we go. One, two, three.

-BOTH:

-PSH!

Altogether they sound like this.

Now we've got the beatboxes sorted,

we'll head through to the studio and get it all recorded.

It's just through there.

This is where we get all the sound from the live room

and put it all together

So, if I ask Lee to do some beatboxing, OK?

I press this and I give Lee the thumbs up.

and record some fantastic music.
