We've got a monster of a show for you today!

It's Halloween time, so top illustrator Korky Paul

is visiting the clubhouse to do some drawing.

I'll be showing you a frighteningly cool move!

And away from the monsters,

Let's-Goer Siya shows us how she'll be celebrating Diwali.

-Hi, I'm Rehab.

-And I'm Adam.

-Today, we're going to be lock-keepers.

-BOTH:

-Let's go!

This is the Leeds and Liverpool Canal.

When a boat needs to go up or downhill, along a canal or a river,

a lock is used to help them.

On each side of the lock, there are gates that let the water get

in or out, which helps the boats go up and down.

And the lock-keeper looks after the canals.

They welcome and help boaters travel along them.

Darren will be showing us what we need to do.

We need to listen very carefully, so that we stay safe.

Would you like to go to the locks so you're nice and safe?

I'd love to, and are you going to help?

Yes.

So, we're going to open this ground paddle,

which allows the water to come out underneath the boats,

and raises them slowly and gently -

-and safely, which is the main thing.

-Do the boats come up fast?

Not if we do it nice and gently, just nice and steady

and make sure they don't get banged about.

Darren is turning the paddle.

First, we set the water levels just right.

So, we just do three turns.

Put our safety hook on,

and then have a look and make sure there's not much going in.

Cos if you put it in too quickly and bash them about,

they start going, "Don't bash me about!"

Oh! Shall I help you?

-No!

-Sorry!

'We open the gates for the boat to go through.

'Two narrow boats can fit into this lock.'

Come on through!

This boat needs to go up the hill.

Now it's time to close the gates and let the water into this lock.

Darren closes the paddle.

So the boat is on the same level as the next part of the canal.

And off it goes to the next part of the lock.

The locks need to be looked after so they can be used for a long time.

These locks are over 240 years old.

We'll need these because you'll help me oil and grease the gates

-and the paddles.

-Thank you, Darren.

-You're more than welcome.

There you go, nice big bit of grease for you.

I'll turn, you get the grease on. That's it, get it all over.

Easier to use, is that. Fantastic job.

What is that big brush for?

This is a greasing brush that we use to grease

this type of gearing, so we can keep far away and not get it all over.

That's it. Bit down here, as well.

-Is that enough grease now, Darren?

-That's plenty.

We need to run the gearing up and down once, to make sure

it's all running beautiful for the future.

Oh, look at that! Lovely jubbly!

-Like it were brand-new. Thank you very much.

-You're welcome.

Now, we're going to do some painting.

We're painting the beam which helps to protect it.

Do you think you'll work for us when you get older?

-Yeah.

-Yeah, would you like it?

-Yeah.

-Adam, would you like to do some painting?

-Yeah.

You missed a bit there.

You're doing a really good job, though.

We're on a work boat.

We're not here just for fun, we're here for more jobs!

We're scraping the green moss off the wall.

This helps to keep the canal clear and tidy.

-Adam, what's been the best part of your day?

-Scraping.

Rehab, what's been the best part?

Scraping the walls and the gates.

Oh! Been good to have you, you've been a big help.

You're doing a good job!

Oh, great work, Rehab and Adam! You both made excellent lock-keepers.

Now, we're excited in the clubhouse today because we're joined

by illustrator Korky Paul and some book-loving Let's-Goers.

-Hi, everyone! ALL:

-Hello!

Korky, you've illustrated loads

of children's books, including the spooky Winnie books.

-Why do you love drawing so much?

-When I was your age,

I just loved drawing and I loved doing crazy drawings like cartoons.

Lovely. Hey, Soph, do you have a question?

Please could you give us some tips for our drawing?

Top tip, Sophie, is draw every day. Do you do that?

-Yeah.

-We would love for you to draw us a spooky picture.

-We can draw a monster!

-Draw a monster?

-Yeah!

-What shall we call the monster?

-Tusk.

-Tusk?

So now, the first thing we're going to do...

is give him some eyes. Right, so let's draw some eyes.

-I think he should have scary eyes!

-OK. So, he's got eyes.

-Who wants an elephant nose?

-Ooh!

-Elephant nose is good,

we like elephant noses. We've got an elephant nose here

and a little thing on the end.

Right, little thing on the end, like that.

-OK.

-Looking good.

Who wants floppy rabbit ears? Or shall we do big elephant ears?

-Yeah!

-Big ears.

-Yeah, big elephant ears, like that.

Who likes snappy crocodile teeth?

-Oh, me!

-Yes!

Chika-chika-chika...

OK, and then we have a big mouth like that. Chika-chika-chika...

-Wow.

-Do some little arms here.

-A body!

-And a body, yes.

-Let's give him a nice, round body here.

-Oh, well cool!

Ducks' legs? Will we give him one frog leg and one duck leg?

-Now, what's special about frogs' legs?

-They're green!

-And they've got those little...?

-Webs?

-Fingers!

-Well done.

Their feet have little webs. That little thing there.

You're going to have the other leg up here.

Shall we do that? Little ankle. How's that look?

-Shall we give him a tail?

-Yeah.

-Shall we give him little spikes?

-Yeah.

THEY GIGGLE

Look at that!

We've got some watercolours.

What's special about watercolour is it loves water.

The first thing to do is you do your light colours first, OK?

-Yellow!

-Let's do a little bit of yellow. Oh, look at that!

If we put blue on top of yellow, what colour's it going to go?

-Green!

-Well done. Let's take a little bit of blue.

-Oh, look at that. Little bit of green.

-It's green!

-Nice!

OK, a little bit of blue back there.

Oh, you see now, I didn't wash my brush.

You see how dirty it went? Clean the brush off again, let's take red.

-When you put red on yellow, what colour do you get?

-Orange!

Right! Now, what's a good colour for frogs' legs?

-ALL:

-Green!

-Green!

Look at that. Bit of green in there.

-What's a good colour for ducks' legs?

-Yellow!

Oh, look at that! Nice.

-Shall we give him a nice tongue?

-He looks really funny!

There you go. And then we put a little signature over here.

She's making more designs for her friends.

Here's four-year-old Lily doing a robot dance in her home-made

robot costume. Robo-brilliant!

And this is Let's-Goer Ronny,

who created a robot of his very own, called Robert!

Matthew, Sophie, Theo and Holly all loved getting messy,

making gooey robo-slime!

And Isla Rose had lots of fun gluing and painting her shiny silver robot.

Those were some fantastic facts about Diwali.

Boogieman!

Well, I'm dressed up as Frankenstein's Monster,

ready for today's Halloween Club Dance.

And the dance I'm going to be teaching you

is called the Monster Shuffle.

It's called this because it looks like a monster

that's having a bit of a boogie.

It's really simple to do.

Here's how. The first step is to put our arms up like this,

and then move from side to side.

Remember to be as stiff as you can,

so you look like a monster that's having a boogie!

And that's it! The Monster Shuffle.

I'm going to be using this in the Club Dance later on,

so keep on practising. But, before that,

let's take a look at some of your Send-Ins.

Leo and Chloe have made some spooky bats out of cardboard tubes.

And Jazzy and Rob have been having Halloween fun at the farm.

Hello. My name's Sia.

And these are my friends, Jenvi, Demi and Priya.

We love celebrating Diwali.

Here's something you can do.

When it's Diwali, we like to decorate diyas.

A diya is a traditional lamp that is made out of clay.

It's time to decorate!

I'm going to paint mine red.

You can paint them any colour you like.

I'm putting dots on mine.

We're putting jewels and sequins on our diyas.

Once the diyas have dried, we're going to place them

round the house.

Diyas always look very pretty when they are on the window ledge.

My family makes traditional sweets on Diwali.

Everyone can try these nice sweets that my mum made.

Lots of family and friends come to see us on Diwali.

-Oh, wow!

-Yummy!

This is good!

We're decorating our living room with traditional Diwali decorations.

Can you light the diyas now, please, Mum?

Of course I can.

The light from the diyas are to help Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth,

find her way to our house.
