# When it washed to the beaches down all the rivers

# This was 5,000 years ago or so

# Where does sand come from?

# Everybody knows where you see sand the most

# You get a little bit at lakes but loads on the coast

# Cos erosion from the weather beats the rocks above

# And the waves smash the shells to make the beaches we love

# Desert sand is different cos there's no seaside

# The lack of water makes the soil oh so dry

# Soil and rocks get broken up and guess what's left behind

# That's where sand comes from

# There are beaches so unique I gotta speak about and teach you

# Every beach is different with its own special features

# Beaches in Bermuda are pink How terrific

# Lava makes Hawaiian beaches black by the Pacific

# Sand is super special and it's useful stuff

# Like for sandpaper when you smooth down something rough

# There is so much sand you couldn't count it if you tried

# But there are not as many grains as there are stars in the sky
