The Final Cut The Next Step

Previously on The Next Step...

First round - done.

Now that we've all made it to the second round

I'm confident that the winning Regionals team will be

the Nationals team.

I know I did some terrible things at Elite as dance captain,

but I really want to start over at The Next Step.

I asked Emily to help me break up Michelle and Eldon.

The sooner Hunter and Michelle reunite,

the sooner Eldon and I reunite.

And that's all I really care about.

One, two, three, four...

Phoebe's choreography is really hard but it has to be.

After this round, I wouldn't be surprised if some of our original

A-Troupe members don't make the cut.

DANCE MUSIC PLAYS

Right now we're practising the choreography Phoebe gave us

for the last round of the challenge

and it's actually really hard.

Watching Thalia rehearse the choreography is nerve-racking for me

because she seems to be picking it up really well.

Seven and eight.

Um... I don't remember what's next.

-Seven and eight...

-I don't remember, me either.

Do you guys need help with the next part?

-Yeah.

-Kind of.

Uh, seven and eight.

One, two.

I know what it's like to be stuck and I just want them to see

a different side of me.

Amanda is so good.

-She's really strong.

-Yeah.

-We'll see, we'll see.

-She picks it up quick.

-Yeah.

I mean, she's a step ahead all of our dancers.

It's very impressive.

You can tell why she was dance captain at Elite.

Oh, yeah!

Right now Riley and I are trying to just work through the choreography

and get it down.

If I don't learn the choreo in time,

I'll lose my spot on A-Troupe.

I mean, there's so many other people that would be

happy to help her out, but she has to choose James.

It's kind of annoying just cause I'm spending time with just Riley

and she always seems to show up when it's literally just me and Riley.

Actually, me and Riley will help you together.

So now we both have to teach Beth the choreo?

I swear, if Beth takes my spot in A-Troupe,

James better run fast.

Tiff, Tiff, did you guys already learn the choreo?

Yeah, you missed the entire thing.

-OK, well, can you help me?

-I was at acting classes.

Going into the acting class, I mean, I knew it was going to be tight

but the class ended up running late and here I am.

-I don't know the routine. I have to keep going.

-OK.

-I'm so sorry.

Are you serious?

Like, you were late and now you want me

to teach you choreography that you should have been here to learn.

So you're just not going to help me?

What am I doing to do?

-OK, hurry up. Change your stuff. Let's go.

-But you have to follow along though cos I still don't even have it myself.

From the beginning I've always said I wanted us

all to make it together, so if that means helping her

to make it to the next step then, you know what,

I think it's what I'm going to do.

All right, everyone, listen up. You have five minutes left.

Daniel, will you get the other kids out of the music room?

-Sure.

What am I going to do in five minutes?

I'm freaking out right now.

I just don't know if I can learn this in time.

At this point, I pretty much need a miracle.

This is the biggest audition of my life.

If I don't make the team, I'm out of the studio

and I can't win Michelle back.

Everything is at stake right now

and I just really want to do the best I can.

I'm very nervous.

I mean, I'm shaking. My heart's pounding.

We really have to step up our game.

This is your last chance to prove yourselves.

I'm putting everything on the line.

I want this so bad and

I'm dancing like I've never danced before.

That fouette section is definitely giving me problems.

I'm a hip-hop dancer so this is not what I do.

OK, group two on the floor. Here we go.

DANCE MUSIC CONTINUES

I'm trying my best, I'm getting the steps down pat so...

my chances look good.

Being in Thalia's group is good because I'm in the front row

and she's in the second row,

which means she can watch how good I'm dancing the entire time.

And lastly we have group three!

I know I'm dancing my best,

especially because Hunter's in there.

That's making me dance twice as hard.

There's no question, Eldon is an unreal dancer,

but I'm not concerned.

I have things that, uh, I can do that he can't.

I can't remember anything.

It's like it went in one ear and out the other

and I'm freaking out because I'm a huge mess.

She has no idea what the choreography is. It's obvious.

I don't know how I'm going to handle this one.

I just wanted to say that for the good of the team we need to be OK.

And, honestly, if I can do that,

you should be able to as well, Eldon.

It kind of makes me feel a little better

cos now I don't have to worry about her, like, flipping out

in front of everyone again.

I'm really glad that Hunter finally came round

and sees that we can be friends.

I was really looking for that all along since he came here

and I'm happy that he said that.

You know, it's kind of great how cool you're being with Hunter.

I don't know if I'd be that confident

If we can make Eldon think Michelle still has feelings for Hunter,

he's going to regret ever breaking up with me.

who's going to make the cut and it makes me really nervous

cos I'm wondering when they're going to come out and let us know.

The problem I had with her just after,

A, working with her at Elite, she was a worse version of myself.

the final cut so everyone's kind of nervous.

OK, here's the thing about West though,

is he doesn't have the technique.

James can at least do some technique. West doesn't have any.

A-Troupe is everything to me. If I don't make it back into A-Troupe,

I don't know what else I'm going to do.

It's fine.

It's Emily, she wouldn't let anything happen to us anyway.

She didn't show up to the choreo. She wasn't there.

-I don't want that kind of attitude.

-It's just, it's tough guys.

She was part of the team that brought us to Regionals.

I have my best friend in there who I know will vouch for me

no matter what, and Miss Kate, and I know they have faith in me

and even though I had a bad audition

that doesn't mean that I'm a bad dancer.

OK, well, if we talk about Stephanie, what about Tiffany?

She didn't draw my eyes in a bad way.

-It's just she was kind of...

-She was just there.

-Yeah.

I think Emily sees that I'm more dedicated than Steph.

Daniel, I mean, we know he's an amazing dancer.

-He's got phenomenal technique.

-Yeah.

But he's just come off an injury.

Yes, I was injured but that was in the past.

I think she sees me as some damaged,

broken-winged bird or something and it's just really unfair.

OK, so are we happy with this choice?

I feel like this is our Nationals team.

I feel like it's really strong.

I think you guys are right.

We're going to have a lot disappointed dancers.

The dancers that came to audition were amazing.

There was just no way we could keep all our original A-Troupers.

This isn't the team that won Regionals...

but hopefully it will be the team that wins Nationals.

This is the final cut, so it's pretty nerve-racking.

I mean, if they don't call my name, then everything that I worked for

would have been for nothing.

It's official. We have our 12 dancers for A-Troupe.

I'm just really hoping that how I danced today and what I brought

to the audition was enough.

In A-Troupe we have...

Riley.

Hearing my name is a huge relief. I mean, I worked so hard to get here

and knowing that I can go to Nationals is really awesome.

Eldon.

Knowing that I'm on the Nationals team makes me feel so much better.

I'm so ready to get into this studio and just kill everything,

every number.

It feels so good to know that I get to go to Nationals.

I am so stoked for this year.

I cannot wait to work with this group of people

When I find out that Hunter's on the Nationals team,

I mean, that's going to be bad because of drama,

but he's got some stuff to add to the team, so whatever.

When I hear Thalia's name being called it pretty much sinks in

that not all original Regional members are going to Nationals.

The only question is -

how many cuts are there going to be?

That could have been my spot that she took, so...

it's making me all the more nervous.

I just want to jump and scream and be excited.

I can even contain it. I'm just...I'm going to Nationals.

I'm very relieved that I made the cut.

When there's one name left to be called and

I see that the only two names that haven't been called from A-Troupe

last year are me and Tiffany...

I'm really nervous.

I definitely feel that I'm more dedicated because, I mean,

she has so many things on her plate - she's acting.

She's trying to be a triple threat

when I'm really trying to be a dancer.

Emily is my best friend and I don't think that she'd ever

turn her back on me.

Either way...

someone's going to be let down.

Right now, Steph's standing beside me and

neither one of us have been called.

It's between me and Tiffany now.

And last but definitely not least...

..Amanda.

Amanda?!

I can't believe they chose Amanda over me.

I'm furious.

How could Emily choose Amanda over me?

That's, like, that's choosing your enemy over your best friend.

What is she thinking?

Why...why did I not make the team?

Look, I know this is really hard but it's a part of auditioning, OK?

I don't understand how she thinks that it's OK

to have us work so hard as a team and then just switch it up.

There were so many great dancers who didn't make the cut.

Tiffany, Stephanie, some of the J-Troupers, Beth...

But she should really be so proud of everything she's done

up to this point.

I'm going to miss Tiffany and Stephanie so much

but I think that adding some new talent to the team

will help us step up a little bit.

I'm so excited that I made the new Nationals team.

I cannot wait to dance with this new studio and show them

exactly what I can do.

I think she's an amazing dancer

and I think she'll be a great asset to our team at Nationals.

I just hope she doesn't cause any drama.

You know that I can learn it and so do they.

It's not just about knowing it, it's about wanting it.

I do want it.

You're about to take everything away from me.

I feel like my friendship with Emily was almost one huge lie.

And she really proved that she wouldn't do for me

what I've done for her.

And I just don't know if I could ever forgive her for this.

You have to look at this in a positive way.

This gives you time for acting classes, singing lessons.

It was a vote, OK?

Even if I did vote for you, you wouldn't have gotten in.

It would have been three against one.

Obviously I would have done my best to get her on the team,

but she didn't do her part.

Whatever.

A-Troupe is everything to me and...

I'm really disappointed that I let myself down.
