I am in east London,

about to surprise young fashion designer Neetu, who has ambitions

of having her creations clothe catwalk models and Bollywood stars.

Right now, she's at home with her family.

She has no idea that I'm about to Turbo Boost her.

-She has any idea I'm coming?

-Not at all.

and I'm here to supersize your fashion designing talent.

That's brilliant.

Now in the next four weeks,

you are going to design a spectacular piece of clothing.

-And during London's Fashion Week...

London Fashion Week.

You are going to showcase that creation to the

glitterati of the fashion world.

Oh, my...

Huge dream come true.

Hi, my name's Neetu. I'm 13 and I love fashion.

This is my mum Santosh,

my big sister Sonya, my dad Chata,

my crazy brothers Rahu and Venish.

And last but not least, this is my big sister Kaja

and she's busy holidaying in India.

She loves films, music, dance.

She's always on the internet searching for the new fashion.

And, of course, fashion is her passion.

My passion for fashion is something really special to me

and it really helps me express myself. Look at this.

My big sister Sonya, she always asks me,

"Does this look right?"

It's got a nice hem to it and some nice reflective fabric.

The green's really nice,

but as you can see it's got some dark colours like black and dark green.

When she's out shopping with me, she'll say,

"Mum, there's this fabric."

And I'll say, "No, Neetu, this isn't a good fabric.

"It's not going to look nice."

And she always judges me and says, "You watch.

"Once it's made, it's going to look really good.

So, I'm so happy and proud of her.

Fashion's become a part of myself and my identity.

Neetu was inspired to start sewing when she went to Threads,

a project near her home.

Threads is a really good project

and I'm really happy that I'm a part of it. It's helped me so much.

Every girl is talented, every person is talented,

but sometimes they just can't find it.

Threads' main aim is to teach fashion to girls in this

part of east London,

giving them a focus and keeping them away from trouble.

You need to trim it down so that it's slightly smaller.

Children in Need fund our projects because

the Pembury Estate had quite a lot of issues in the past

and we wanted to bring a new project

that was really exciting and really innovative,

and will actually lead to a career path.

Threads has definitely helped girls gain that confidence,

that talent, and really give them the right path to follow,

which is really important nowadays.

But now she's going to need some expert one-on-one mentoring if she's

going to go from sewing with her friends to stitching for the stars.

What's your biggest ambition with regards to your fashion designing?

I think I just want to see people wearing my brand,

wearing the clothes that I've made,

that would just make me feel like,

"Yeah, my dream has actually come true."

How hard are you going to work to make sure that you're totally

and fully Turbo Boosted?

I mean, 24-7 will be Turbo Boost, Turbo Boost, Turbo Boost.

I will definitely be working as hard as I possibly can.

However, before we meet, you've got one special challenge to do.

I need you to brush up on your technical skills.

I've given all of the details to Turbo,

so he's going to guide you through it.

And like I said, I can't wait to meet you.

It's going to be a lot of hard work but I know you can do it.

You are the woman for the job.

I'm... I'm amazed.

She's classy.

That's amazing. She's lovely and she's got a wicked sense of fashion,

and she's so stylish.

All you need to do now is jump into a cab

and head into the heart of fashionable London. Let's go.

Over the next four weeks, Neetu has to design

and create an amazing piece of clothing.

That's brilliant.

And if that's hard enough, she's then got to showcase it here

at one of the biggest star-studded fashion events in the world -

London Fashion Week.

For one week only, the world's fashion experts come to see

the latest creations from the best of the UK's fashion designers.

It's the biggest challenge of Neetu's life.

Neetu, this is Saville Row.

Well, this is the home of London's finest tailors and seamstresses.

-Let's go and impress.

-OK.

Great British Sewing Bee judge Patrick Grant knows

everything there is to know about tailoring.

I'm fortunate to work with the best sewers in the world.

His attention to detail is impeccable

when it comes to making clothes.

It is a difficult fabric and you've handled it extremely well.

He's a fashion designer and tailor to the rich and famous.

With customers like the Duke of Edinburgh on his books,

he's the perfect person to boost Neetu's tailoring skills.

So, let's have a look at the pieces you've brought in.

Patrick starts by assessing Neetu's sewing skills.

A couple of things. I mean, actually, it's very neat.

It's really nice and straight down the front edge.

That's really good. A little fraction of a wobble on that one.

What you've got here are a couple of the checks just

disappearing off the edge.

It's not a bad start, but he instantly sees how she can improve.

Darts on the front here...

a little bit uneven again.

A little bit of unevenness here when you've sewn that,

but it's really nice.

Patrick can see Neetu has some basic tailoring skills,

but they're nowhere near the level that's needed to

showcase at London Fashion Week.

She's got to go back to basics

and learn the first stage of tailoring to professional standards,

starting with pattern cutting.

If we grab a waistcoat pattern, we can get you to mark around it

on a piece of cloth and then we're going to move over and...

we're going to cut it out, aren't we? OK.

The first thing we have to do, once we have that pattern,

is transfer the pattern onto the cloth.

So, this is the cloth that ultimately

the garment is going to be made from.

Every bit of fabric that makes up a piece of clothing is cut to

a pattern. It may look easy but it can take years to learn.

It's a difficult skill to master, putting chalk onto cloth.

The nice thing about the chalk,

if you don't get it right you can rub it off and start again.

So, if there's a bit that looks a bit wonky,

which this one's starting to do, you can always just rub it out.

Neetu's lines around the pattern aren't precise enough.

Making a mistake here would make the garment the wrong shape and size.

-So, now we need to cut it out.

-Yes.

With the pattern drawn,

Neetu's shown how to use another tool of the tailor's trade.

Along straight lines you want to use the whole shears.

Nice, confident strokes.

And when you're cutting round a corner, if you use smaller,

more measured cuts, you'll get a better, more accurate line.

She's off to a slow start.

She needs to be confident

when she's following the smooth lines she's drawn.

That sounds more like it.

A good, firm crunch through the cloth.

Small...

..snips to get round the corner.

She's very confident with the shears.

These are big heavy objects and she's handling it very well.

So, we've gone from pattern cutting,

obviously vitally important, to equally important - tailoring.

One of Patrick's expert tailors, Rachel, shows Neetu

the essentials of sewing.

The first thing we do is to mark all the chalk with tailor's tacks

because the chalk can come out really easily.

It's taken Rachel six years to perfect this stage of tailoring.

She's got to teach Neetu in an afternoon.

How wide does the stitch have to be?

I can show you to start with.

Getting the stitches even is hard to master,

but it's a skill she needs to get right if she's to reach

professional tailoring standards in just four weeks.

You can carry on.

It's just practice, but also don't forget it's all about just

keeping it straight and following the line.

It's a lot to remember,

but the more you do it the more it becomes second nature.

It's the end of the masterclass and I want to know how she's got on.

I think it's clear she's good on the sewing machine.

You know, you can tell that from the way she's executed the skirt

and the jacket.

The hand sewing, I think, needs a little bit of work.

It's not a skill that comes easily.

I think she needs to just put the same meticulous care and

attention into the easy bits that she does into the difficult bits.

If it wasn't for Turbo Boost, I wouldn't never have felt that

feeling in a billion years.

It was so special, that moment, for me

and it really did make me feel so grateful and so lucky.

I think I'm not really going to find anything easy.

Patrick did really clarify that.

He really did tell me about certain fabrics, about certain techniques,

about how to stitch.

And it really did teach me how to pattern cut properly,

the proper equipment to use, and I learnt so much in the first hours.

Having given Neetu's tailoring skills a boost,

I've brought her to meet her mentor.

Hi, we're here to see Myleene Klass.

When Myleene Klass isn't presenting,

she's designing her own clothing range.

She's the perfect mentor to guide Neetu through the different

stages of her design.

-Myleene, this is Neetu.

-Nice to meet you. How are you?

-You good?

-I'm fine, thanks.

-Good girl.

Now we need your fashion expertise to help her designs

go from fabulous drawings to catwalk-ready.

So, show me, what have you got?

Neetu's created a mood board of ideas to show Myleene.

Fashion designers use these to help visualise their new collections.

-Oh! That's my favourite colour red in the world.

-Thank you.

That real sort of tomato red, cherry red.

-What have you got here? You've got your dress.

-Yeah.

I'm happy with the design and I'm looking at some Indian inspiration,

and I've been looking at the embellishment

and the embroidery that they use.

So, maybe a fishtail so it really looks big and...

-So, you're going for impact.

-Yes.

-OK.

Neetu's dress is still a drawing on paper,

but Myleene wants her to think about how she's going to make this

drawing into a dress that can be worn.

When you're going to be sewing a lot of embellishments,

you're going to have to choose your fabrics really carefully

cos you don't want the weight of those beads, for example,

just to tear or snag or pull that gown.

I'm planning to do lace at the top...

The lace is not going to be strong enough to hold the entire

body of work that you've got going on here.

Don't underestimate how much weight is going to be held

if you're going to put that much beading on.

Neetu's realising that if she wants her dream dress to become a reality,

choosing the right fabric is crucial.

I didn't really think about it.

It's come across to me that it's really important.

I can't wait to see what it's going to look like,

but I really do think you've set yourself quite a challenge as well.

What I think's really important to do is just...just get sewing!

Neetu has got some important questions she needs to answer.

It's the first time she's ever had to think about fashion in this way.

Today I really learnt about the practical side.

Because before I knew about drawing and labelling, but now you

actually have to go deep inside and see what the garment actually is,

and how it actually works to piece everything together professionally.

Today was fabulous and I feel so tired.

I mean, today was really, really great.

I can't believe I met Myleene Klass. I mean, she was so, so nice.

She talked about how the lace at the top will hold the dress,

because the dress will kind of hang cos the lace is quite weak

and the silk that I'm choosing is quite heavy.

I'm definitely going to act on my mentor's advice.

Neetu's been Turbo Boosted.

Her tailoring skills are being put to the

test by the best in the business.

That sounds more like it.

A good, firm crunch through the cloth.

Her dress has been scrutinised,

with potentially disastrous problems spotted.

The lace is not going to be strong enough to hold the entire

body of work you've got going on here.

With only two weeks until she needs to showcase her finished dress

at one of the biggest fashion events in the world,

Neetu's design skills still need work.

I think it's time for me to up her game and set her a mini challenge.

I've brought Neetu to the London College of Fashion.

She's about to find out how tough fashion design really is,

as Claire the course director sets her a challenge

she usually gives her degree students

-Hi, Neetu.

-Hi.

Your challenge today is to turn something quite ordinary,

make it really exciting and innovative.

Neetu has to make a piece of high fashion

clothing from bits of men's shirts.

Sleeves, cuffs, collars...

And as if that wasn't enough drama...

You have only got four hours to complete your challenge.

Good luck.

I don't know where to start.

'Fashion graduate Rachel Greek is on hand to help Neetu make sense

'of this complicated mini challenge

'and complete it in the time we've given her.'

You know this panel here? Can you turn that all into lace?

I wanted to use all the different types of lace somehow.

With the clock ticking,

Neetu is sewing under pressure for the very first time.

That's your lace panel.

I'm putting all the stuff in, but I don't know if they all match.

-We can have something more feminine going on here.

-Yeah.

On the neck. I really like the collar.

Neetu's trying to create a shirt with that extra creative

flair Claire was looking for.

-I'm cutting out a lace panel.

-Hmm.

-I'm going to put it there.

-Yeah.

-OK.

She's decided to put a lace panel on the back,

but one wrong snip and it could look a mess.

-I think it's quite nice.

-I think it's nice, too.

Neetu's designing is being seriously challenged.

Rachel, what time is it?

Erm, it's ten to three.

And at the last minute, she has a disaster with the sleeves.

I just want it to fit nicely.

Neetu has 20 minutes left, so there's not a lot of time,

and she still needs to do the hem,

and she needs to redo the sleeves because they're really messy.

Out of time and Neetu has just managed to finish her shirt.

I can't believe that we finally did it in time.

But will it be innovative

and fashion forward enough to impress Claire?

How are we doing?

So, I like the fact that you've got different types of lace

and you've also got the applique down here.

I really like the sleeves cos it actually gives the garment

the complete shape,

so you've got a real emphasis on the shoulder line,

finished with the sleeves on the end.

So, I think it's a really great creation.

Neetu's last minute change to her sleeves was spot on,

but were all her design choices right?

You've got so much happening in the shoulder line through

the sleeves and the lace going across the back,

it almost looks a little bit too plain around the neckline.

So, perhaps you pared it down a little bit too much.

After four hectic hours, Neetu finished her mini challenge

and designed a shirt with flair and innovation.

Now she needs to get her finger on the fashion pulse

and create something worthy of a premiere at London Fashion Week.

I only had four hours.

I used lace for a particular reason,

because I know I'm using lace for my final challenge,

so I wanted to work with lace to see how it all works,

how to sew it, how to bond the web.

So, I know what I need to do to reach my final goal.

It's the start of London Fashion Week

and for the first time in her life, Neetu is here.

Incredible. It's... It's indescribable.

I really can't believe it.

Today I want her to be inspired

so she can bring her ambitious design to life.

Look at everything. I mean, there's models on the catwalk.

It feels like a dream come true.

But first, it's time for Neetu to find out who is modelling her

London Fashion Week debut.

Henry Holland's one of the UK's hottest fashion designers,

dressing some of the most famous models in the world.

He knows it's not just the clothes that make a splash,

it's the whole look.

While the world's trying to get into his show,

Neetu's already backstage with Henry to find out how to take

a dress from coat hanger to catwalk.

So, you've designed this dress, have you?

It's so incredible. It's almost like a ball gown.

So, what do you think about accessories and stuff?

This lace has got a metallic feel to it,

so I think if you over accessorise you might

detract from some of this detail.

Maybe it's more about simple accessories.

Maybe a ring and a bracelet, or this bracelet that you've drawn.

You've obviously got real talent

and I think it's just about being really...

gaining confidence in that talent and really staying true to

what it is you want to say through your clothes.

Next, Neetu gets some tips from Henry's top make-up

artist on how to complete the look.

If you do like a real classic hairdo,

then I will probably just go for mascara on top

and a little liner, and then the lips.

She's been noting down everything she's learnt,

but there's no substitute for seeing how all this creativity comes

together at the catwalk show itself.

Henry Holland's show wows Neetu and the fashion crowd,

but he's had months to prepare for this.

Will Neetu's dress stand up to the fashion world's scrutiny

when she's had just four weeks?

Today was the best day of my life.

There were loads of people there who really inspired me.

I got loads of inspiration. Henry gave me a lot of advice.

I've really zoomed in on how I want my vision to be

and how I want the dress to look.

Henry said one thing to me.

He said that you need to use your imagination to create

a story about your garment and about the model.

Michelle Ackerley is on her way to be fitted with Neetu's

creation before wearing to the biggest fashion event of the year.

I'm really excited about it, but the fact that I'm wearing something that

I've never seen before and there's going to be

so many fashionistas there, slightly nervous.

Hey, Neetu...

-are you ready to see your model?

-Yup.

-Hello.

-Hi.

-Hi, Neetu.

-How are you?

-Nice to meet you.

-Is this the dress?

-Yeah, this is for you.

'With no time to lose, Michelle needs to be fitted.'

Oh, my gosh. I'm getting excited about trying it on now.

Oh, my gosh. Wow! You look gorgeous.

-Are you happy?

-Yes. I love it.

We just really need to finish this off now and start fitting it.

It's the first time Michelle's worn the dress, so Neetu

and Rachel need to make alterations to fit her figure perfectly.

Do you want it any tighter on the bum or are you happy with

-that shape?

-It feels fine.

Neetu is making her last minute alterations

and finishing touches to the dress,

because Michelle has to look amazing in front of those

experts at London Fashion Week.

The only problem is...

she's running out of time.

'As the dress takes shape, Neetu starts focusing on bringing

'her vision to life.

'Remembering the styling advice from her masterclasses,

'she now knows how Michelle's hair and make-up need to be done

'to complete the look.'

-What do you think, colour-wise?

-Yeah, I think that's nice.

-Hair up or down?

-Yeah.

After four long hard weeks, Neetu's creation has finally arrived

at one of the world's biggest fashion events -

I'm so happy. People are taking pictures continuously.

feel like all my hard work really paid off.

attention's turned to the designer and Neetu's in the spotlight.

The navy choice is actually really interesting

and from a commercial way of doing traditional evening wear gown.

I've brought Neetu to a star-studded red carpet evening event.

And Michelle, in Neetu's dress, is proving

just as popular as the designer glam of the other celebrities.

The paparazzi are loving it, too.

There are admiring glances from the stars.

I could do with something like that for tonight.

Neetu's really proving herself as a young fashion designer.

High-five.

She smashed it. As the day comes to an end,

there's no doubt that Neetu's taken the fashion world by storm,

and her Turbo Boost is complete.

It was the best moment of my life. It beat everything.

It beat all the Henry Holland shows. It beat everything.

It beat everything at London Fashion Week.

I think this is the best moment of my entire life

and this will always be the best moment of my entire life.

Today, Neetu's design took London Fashion Week by storm.

Her dress turned heads,

making model Michelle the belle of the ball on the red carpet.

Neetu pulled it out the bag at the very last minute

and totalled her Turbo Boost.
