It's here that champion dog trainer Zak George is on a mission

to find the best young dog trainer in the country.

Hundreds applied,

27 made it to the Dog House

but there can only be one winner.

Today, Katie, Jake and Kimmy battle it out

for a place in the semifinal.

You will be part of the elite three if you win tomorrow.

So who will be top dog?

And who will be sent home with their tail between their legs?

She can't do that during Show Time. Has to be in her goal area.

Today on Who Let The Dogs Out?,

we meet an acrobatic internet sensation.

We suffer a serious wardrobe malfunction.

And three quarterfinalists attempt to save their place

in the competition.

Today, Katie and Twilight, Jake and Ice, and Kimmy and Milly

are all competing for their place in the semifinal

and they are facing a football challenge.

Let's take a look back at how they got on in the heats.

Just 27 teams made it to the Dog House for the first heats

where they had to jump, push, dive, balance

and even catapult their way to victory.

Today's quarterfinalists beat tough opposition after mastering

some of Zak's trickiest challenges to make it through.

Katie and Twilight, come on over.

In their heat, Katie and Twilight from Kent

faced the rigours of Zak's High Jump challenge.

Easily clearing 100cm!

When Show Time ended in a tie,

Twilight had to pull off something extra special to secure the win.

You clear 120cm.

Katie and Twilight are on fire today!

So far, Katie and Twilight have shown a high level of focus

but Katie knows success in the quarterfinal

depends on what type of challenge Zak has planned.

I think we can make it to the final.

We can if we get all the right things.

Kimmy, I'd like to see if she'll go in here and do a sit-stay,

allow us to close the door,

and then have you come just this far and ask her to come out.

Kimmy and Milly from Glasgow had to get their heads round

one of Zak's most complex challenges yet

when they were tasked with learning a magic trick.

Absolutely amazing.

At a very dramatic Show Time, Kimmy and Milly put on

an incredible performance.

Bibbety-bobbety-boo. Milly vanish!

Kimmy and Milly have great communication

but now the contest is getting serious.

Kimmy's not sure if she'll be able to handle the pressure.

Fantastic work. Very impressive. You guys look great.

If my nerves get in the way,

Milly gets the nerves as well

and that ruins our performance, I think.

I can see Ice really has her eyes focused on this ball right here.

Jake and Ice from Swindon made it into the quarterfinal

only after putting in some serious training.

Zak gave them a volleyball challenge.

Ice, Ice!

And after two weeks of hard work,

Jake and Ice put on a blistering display at Show Time.

Absolutely phenomenal performance from you guys today.

Jake knows that he'll have his work cut out

if he wants to get any further in the competition.

I hope I can make it all the way through to the final

but I don't know what any of the other contestants are like.

I'm quite worried because I don't know what it is, what we're doing.

Time for the teams to find out exactly what Zak has planned.

Today's going to be an exciting one. You probably have an idea

of what we're going to be teaching here, don't you?

That's right. Today, you guys are going to be teaching

your dogs to be goalkeeper.

For this stunt, your dogs will learn to stay in a goal and save

as many penalties as possible. At Show Time,

the winner will be the dog that manages to save the most penalties

kicked by our celebrity shooter.

We're going to start with Kimmy and Milly over here.

One of the most important things about this trick

is your dog has to be able to stay in goal while you walk away.

You're not there to coach them.

I want you to have her face that way.

Sit, stay, drop the leash and walk over here, please.

Go ahead and let go of the leash. I'll take it down here

because right now, the fact that she's staying

outweighs the fact that she didn't sit.

That is awesome. That looks beautiful right there.

Good, so she's right here. That looks good. Insist that she stay,

because I'm going to roll the ball back and forth right now

just to see how she does with distractions. Stay. Stay.

That was good. Did you see how she almost got up there?

-Stay. Stay.

-Really good. Really good!

Wow! Milly really wanted that ball but she listened to Kimmy

until she was told to get it.

You saw what we were doing over here, right?

Let's see how you guys can do with that.

Go ahead and have Twilight do a sit-stay in front of the goal.

-Come. Come, come on! Good girl.

-Then you're going to walk away.

Sit. Stay there. You're being good, Twi. Stay there. Good girl.

Now, we're going to introduce some distractions here.

See how she reacts to the ball. I'm going to kick it across.

She looks at it and she looked back at you.

You're letting her know that you liked it, that's good.

-I'm going to come back over there.

-You're being good, Twi. Stay there.

-Good girl.

-Really nice, good.

-Stay.

Will she be interested in this ball

if I kick it in her general direction? Will she get it?

-I don't know.

-Let's find out. Tell her to get it for fun. Ready?

Get it, get it!

It doesn't look like Twilight's very interested in football.

That could be a problem.

With you, the challenge is bringing out that drive in Twilight.

Get her in play mode right now.

-Come on!

-That's it, keep going.

We can do it. There we go!

Oh, that's good. That is some groovy dog training, baby.

That is looking good. Just got to figure out a way to get her

more energetic, more into this. Nobody can do this

better than you can, I'm sure. You really know how to do this

if you choose to. I'm going to move on

over here to Jake and Ice. You guys can keep working if you want.

Well done!

All right. Have her stay there for just a moment.

Be very clear about staying because I'm going to try and get her

to break it with this football right now.

-You better communicate with her.

-Ice, wait. Ice, wait!

Oh, dear. Just too tempting.

When we have the ball back here for the competition,

they are going to be so tempted to just run up and get the ball.

They need to know, "I have to leave that ball alone

"no matter what until my trainer says that I can get the ball." Make sense?

When teaching a new trick, it is vital that we keep it fun.

Remember, guys. It's not about the trick.

It's getting the most out of that precious time we have with our dogs.

The trainers really have their work cut out for them.

If their dogs are too interested in the ball,

they won't stay in goal, but too little interest is also a problem.

While these guys are practising their goalkeeping,

where the dogs take over the catwalks.

This season's designs have been inspired by the great outdoors

with outfits for both sunshine and showers.

Pink is this season's must-have colour

and fashionistas are going big on new designs

for both evening wear and sporty wear.

But this season no canine wardrobe is complete

without an ensemble from the animal range.

Here we have the cow.

The zebra, in pink, naturally.

The shark.

And finally, the bear.

Wild!

And at Show Time, our teams pit their wits against

a world record breaking freestyle footballer.

The teams have been practising hard

and now Zak's back to show them the next stage of training.

Kimmy and Milly, this is a little weird.

I'll explain why we're doing this.

I want you to get the goal now.

I want to see if she'll lay off of it.

The reason is we want to have control of our dogs.

We want them to listen no matter how much they want to break stay.

Ask her to let go.

I've got it, I've got it!

It is good that she'll go for the ball

but I want her to go for the ball only when you tell her to.

Go ahead and work on that.

Milly loves that ball and once she learns to leave it

when Kimmy asks, she'll be the perfect goalkeeping dog.

Not so sure about Twilight though.

Despite Katie's best efforts, she's still showing no interest.

Good girl! Stay there.

The reason you're having her jump is just to get her in that mode.

She needs to stay back! The reason that's important

is because we want to nip bad habits early.

We want them to stop early and you recognise that.

That's why you're the good trainer that you are.

Fetch it! Fetch it!

All right. Could you make it any easier for her?!

You see, you have a long way to go here, for sure.

At Show Time, our celebrity shooter will be doing his best to score.

Twilight is going to have to sharpen up her goalkeeping skills.

So far, Jake's challenge has been keeping Ice away from the ball.

I wonder how he's doing.

I want you to try and kick it past her

but I don't want her touching it. Just roll it past her.

Ask her to leave it alone.

Wait. Wait.

Oh, no, Ice. You've got to learn to leave that ball

until Jake tells you.

Jake and Ice still with work to do.

All right, guys. You did a fantastic job.

You've got five days left to work on this and we're going to have

another training session after that. I want you to impress me.

As training day one draws to a close,

some trainers are finding it harder than others.

When Ice was having her turn,

the distraction was quite hard to cope with.

When we were talking to Zak,

she kept pulling off towards the footballs.

Ice is a good dog and we work hard, put all the effort in.

She's good at her stays, but there is a problem

getting her quite active so we need to get her more hyped up.

We are at the early stages but I think we can get there.

I think it went really well because Milly is staying,

leaving the ball, not attacking it like she was at the start.

I think that was good knowing that we've improved a bit

in that training session.

Ice, Twilight and Milly may all look pretty different

but let's take a look at their mutt measurements

and see which of them might have the edge in goalkeeping.

Ice is a two-year-old Red Merle Border Collie

and true to her breed, she's always eager to learn new things.

Ice gave an impressive display in the first round

with her volleyball challenge, proving she had real ball skills.

If Ice is as good at goalkeeping as she is at volleyball,

she could go all the way.

Two-year-old Labrador Retriever Twilight

leapt into the quarterfinals

with a truly astonishing performance in the first round.

Jumping seems to come naturally to this sporty breed of dog,

so Twilight could have a distinct advantage

when it comes to keeping a clean sheet at Show Time.

Springer Spaniel Milly showed just how clever her breed can be

when she mastered one of Zak's most complex challenges yet,

the magic trick.

Milly booked her place in the quarterfinal by learning to vanish,

so saving a few footballs should be a doddle.

The teams have returned to the Dog House

for one final training session before Show Time.

You guys are looking good out here today. Look at this.

All the dogs very dialled in, focused on you.

Doing really well. I'm going to start with you, Katie and Twilight.

That looked excellent, really good.

Tell me about training, how's it been going over the last few days?

Good. She's got more confident with the ball.

Why do you think that is?

Because I've been rewarding good things with the ball

and when she makes contact with the ball.

Why don't you show me how you guys have been doing?

I just want to watch for a second here.

Stay there. Stay there, good girl.

Ready, three, two, one.

Good girl!

Katie's still not testing Twilight with her shooting.

It will be much tougher than that at Show Time.

You've done an amazing job getting her into playing with it

so just keep working.

The more fun you keep it, the better chance you have, all right?

Very good. I'm going to move on to Kimmy and Milly now.

Now these two were really impressive at the last session

but it looks like Milly's not focused on the training today.

Kimmy, tell me how training has been going for you guys.

Training has been going really well. Milly's been loving the ball,

but since we've come out here, she's lost interest in it.

I'm not sure whether it's maybe other sounds or something.

Yeah, that's very interesting.

Any time we change environment on our dogs, it's likely to throw them.

That's completely normal. You're keeping her on leash right now

-because she's been a bit distracted.

-Yeah.

-OK, that's fine.

Nothing wrong with that. I'm going to hold the leash.

Is she OK with me coming over? Let's try something.

Ask her to sit-stay over here.

Bring her over here. I want you to just kick...

Good, go back over here. Let's see if she gets back into training mode

when the ball comes at her.

-Get the ball.

-Really good! Excellent job!

Well, she doesn't look distracted any more, that was an amazing save!

For you guys, it's really a question of whether or not

she's going to be on at Show Time or if she's going to be distracted.

Either way, it'll be fine, but that's incredible progress.

I'm going to let you guys continue. I'm moving on to Jake and Ice.

I wonder if Ice has learned to stay away from that ball yet.

No, doesn't look like it!

She kind of broke there so you've got to reset her.

She can't do that during Show Time at all, so you guys have to have

that really tight. Nice stay. She's got to be in her goal area.

Looks like all the teams still have work to do.

This goalkeeping trick isn't as easy as it looks.

Has this been challenging for you at all?

It's been a bit challenging getting her to sit and wait,

not get distracted by the ball

and having the run-up to the ball.

If I were really looking for a place to give you advice on,

it would be really keep her in that goal area.

She does tend to creep out of it a little too often,

but you guys are looking very strong going into tomorrow.

Guys, Show Time is tomorrow. You have one more day of practice.

Remember, the winner of tomorrow's contest

will move on to the semifinals and you will be part of the elite three

if you win tomorrow. There is a lot at stake.

Take one dog, one football and a goal

and you are guaranteed hours of fun.

Here are Zak's four steps to teaching successful goalkeeping.

1 - Use play and rewards to get your dog interested in the ball.

2 - Practise "stay at distance" to make sure your dog

doesn't run after the ball too soon.

3 - Use a command to tell your dog when to go for the ball.

4 - Keep it fun and enjoy practice

and your dog will soon be a goalkeeping legend!

Today, I'm going to show you how to teach your dog a really fun trick.

Now remember, the whole reason we teach tricks like this

is to increase our dog's quality of life. After all,

a thinking dog is a happy dog. All I need is Nelly and a book.

Come here, angel.

That's great. Look at you!

I'm going to show you how to teach your dog

to walk on your toes right now. I'm going to put a book right here.

Since Nelly already knows how to come behind me,

That's how you teach your dog to walk on your toes.

And now it's time to meet a pretty special dog

whose trainer was inspired by this very show.

This is the story of Ozzy,

also known as the amazing acrobatic dog.

This is Ozzy, a dog who has become an online sensation

with his incredible displays of amazing acrobatics.

Ozzy's trainer Nick taught him these amazing stunts

after watching Zak in action

and now Ozzy is quickly becoming a star.

I was doing tricks around Norwich for about eight months.

Often, people were filming and I'd think,

"Oh, yeah, another person filming me,"

but this person filmed me doing the trick and put it on YouTube.

It went haywire very quickly.

Ozzy's first online video received 80,000 hits in one night

and he now has fans across the globe.

It's in Russia, it's in America. It's all over the place.

I've done searches all over YouTube and I've found ten million.

I can't come to an end on the amount of hits I've found.

Unfazed by stardom, Ozzy continues to enjoy learning new tricks.

For this dog, the sky is the limit.

Two weeks' goalkeeping training is over and it's time

for our three teams to go head to head for a place in the semifinal.

Just one thing stands between the teams and victory.

Introducing freestyle footballer Ash Randall.

Ash currently holds four world records for freestyle football.

When Ash is performing,

the ball can hit the soles of his feet up to 220 times per minute.

Get that!

I'll tell you what. I wouldn't like to be in front of goal

when Ash is shooting penalties.

You look amazing out there. Really, really nice.

Let's get this competition started.

The rules to the shootout are simple.

Each team will face three shots from Ash

but any dog leaving the goal area before the shot is taken

will automatically forfeit their turn.

The team that saves the most will take that semifinal place.

Just one team will progress.

For the others, the competition will end today.

I'm hoping to get a win.

I'm feeling a bit of pressure because I want to do quite well

and I'm pushing myself quite a lot.

-Who has the edge?

-I'm feeling a bit of pressure.

I don't really want to go home without winning.

It would mean everything to me to get into the next round.

It would just be amazing.

And who has saved their best for Show Time?

It would be so special if we got through and we won this.

It would just mean the world to us.

but Milly has a tendency to get distracted.

Jake has struggled to keep control of Ice during training.

Ice loves the ball so much

that she sometimes tries to get it before it's been kicked.

Remember, if she leaves that area, she'll forfeit her turn.

Ice, sit. Wait. Wait.

He saves it! Unbelievable save!

Nice job, fantastic!

Ice didn't budge off that line, and what a save!

Since the beginning, Katie has demonstrated fantastic control

over Twilight but she has struggled to get Twilight

interested in the ball.

She'll have to use every ounce of energy she has

if they're to beat the others.

-Sit. Stay there.

-Good communication.

Twilight didn't save that one.

Oh, no! Let's see that again.

Twilight comes off her line and Ash simply chips it over her head.

But at the end of the first round, it's still anybody's game.

Round two and Kimmy and Milly's chance to keep the pressure on.

Kimmy's going for the old throw and bounce routine

to keep Milly focused, but what's this?

Milly's gone walkabout.

That's a disaster.

That little stroll might just have cost them

a place in the semifinal.

Kimmy and Milly, that is the end of that attempt, so, Jake and Ice,

-get back up here!

-Can Jake and Ice keep another clean sheet?

Sit. Wait.

Wait. Wait.

Jake and Ice! Just tearing it up out here today!

That last save from Ice means Twilight has to make a save

to stay in the competition.

Katie's doing everything she can to get Twilight's energy up.

Twilight not reacting fast enough

and the competition for these two is over.

Jake and Ice have two saves but Kimmy and Milly just one.

Milly has to save this to remain in the competition.

Wow! A vital save and now the pressure is back on Jake and Ice.

A miss and the contest will go to sudden death.

A save, and Jake and Ice are in the semifinal.

It all comes down to this for you guys.

That's three out of three and these two are in the semifinal.

and you were just loving it and your dogs were enjoying it as well.

Obviously, we now know that Jake and Ice

are going through to the semifinals where they will be part

of that very special elite three.

I feel quite proud. We did work hard for it and it was a challenge.

You guys did incredible. Show your dog some love.
