-that affects the blood.

-The cancer starts in bone marrow,

-right in the middle.

-It's where blood cells

-are produced.

-In our blood, we have white cells,

-they fight colds and infections.

-We also have red cells which carry

-oxygen all around the body.

-There are cells called platelets...

-..which are like internal plasters

-to stop us bleeding.

-If you have cancer in your blood,

-the white cells suffer the most.

-Instead of producing white cells

-like we saw earlier on...

-..we get these cells, cancer cells,

-which go around the body.

-They pretend

-to be white blood cells.

-They can't work the same way

-as white blood cells.

-They're bad cells which can't fight

-colds and infections.

-You get very ill

-if you catch a cold...

-..or if bacteria or viruses

-get into the body.

-The cancer cells

-can't fight them properly...

-..like healthy

-white blood cells would.

-The cold or virus

-goes around the body...

-..and makes you feel quite ill

-if you have cancer.

-What we have to do

-is give a special treatment....

-.like the one Alaw was given.

-It gets rid of the cancer cells.

-That means the white cells

-come back.

-The white cells, the red cells...

-..and the platelets

-travel around the body...

-..making everyone healthy again.

-So every now and then, Alaw has to

-come in and we take a little blood.

-We look for the healthy cells

-and make sure they are all there.

-We also make sure that there are

-none of these bad cells left.

-And make sure

-we got rid of them all.
