The Tommee Tippee Perfect Prep Machine. | :00:08. | :00:10.
It claims to have a filter that removes "any impurities" from tap | :00:11. | :00:13.
water, giving you "the very cleanest water" for your baby's formula. | :00:14. | :00:16.
Not according to our tests on machines used by real families. | :00:17. | :00:22.
We have something that is much, much more contaminated than tap water. | :00:23. | :00:34.
Hello and welcome to Watchdog, from our home at BBC | :00:35. | :00:49.
working as well as they say. claim to be healthy but aren't | :00:50. | :01:00.
the Fitbit fitness tracker and dietary supplements Juice Plus. | :01:01. | :01:03.
We reveal the problems that you need to know about. | :01:04. | :01:08.
The cost of the fuel to get you there might be | :01:09. | :01:19.
And that's what Team Watchdog are looking at tonight, | :01:20. | :01:22.
manufactures make? per gallon claims car | :01:23. | :01:32.
I upgraded because it will save me money. | :01:33. | :01:38.
Plus, Nikki Fox has set up camp outside the BBC. | :01:39. | :01:45.
I've investigated one of the biggest caravan park companies, | :01:46. | :01:47.
Park Dean Resorts, who have 73 parks across the UK. | :01:48. | :01:49.
We've heard from elderly owners who were told they had to leave | :01:50. | :01:55.
Maureen couldn't walk and we had to cut a hole and build a ramp. It was | :01:56. | :02:09.
a lot of stress that. And then two weeks after, she died. | :02:10. | :02:13.
And in tonight's Rogue Traders, a car dealer who knows | :02:14. | :02:16.
his responsibilities and completely ignores them. | :02:17. | :02:20.
I look at it that way, you sell it to an old lady, I would rather | :02:21. | :02:29.
straight cars and make money and that is it. | :02:30. | :02:33.
So why is the car we bought not fit for the road? | :02:34. | :02:36.
But first, we've been conducting tests on this, | :02:37. | :02:38.
the Tommee Tippee Perfect Prep Machine. | :02:39. | :02:39.
You use it to make bottles for your baby, but the results | :02:40. | :02:42.
of our tests have raised some interesting questions. | :02:43. | :02:48.
And feeding them with formula can be a military operation. | :02:49. | :02:52.
the kettle, fill it, wait for it to boil and then wait | :02:53. | :02:56.
Then there's the powder, which needs measuring and mixing in. | :02:57. | :03:02.
And finally you have to check it's all served up at a safe | :03:03. | :03:05.
All this because a baby's immune system isn't as strong | :03:06. | :03:09.
So the NHS and the World Health Organisation recommend parents | :03:10. | :03:13.
sterilise everything and only use boiled water. | :03:14. | :03:20.
Because Tommee Tippee claim to have come up with a revolutionary | :03:21. | :03:26.
It looks like an espresso machine and according to Tommee Tippee | :03:27. | :03:34.
it's the "smart" option for weary parents. | :03:35. | :03:41.
You can keep making every bottle the long and hard way, | :03:42. | :03:44.
juggling bottles and heating water while trying to keep baby calm | :03:45. | :03:48.
or you can get smart and let the Tommee Tippee Perfect Prep | :03:49. | :03:51.
Machine do all the hard work in just two minutes. | :03:52. | :03:55.
So how does the Perfect Prep Machine manage to make formula | :03:56. | :03:58.
doesn't use boiling water. waiting around because it | :03:59. | :04:08.
spurt of hot, but not boiling, water that the company says "kills | :04:09. | :04:15.
Then cold tap water is added that's passed | :04:16. | :04:20.
Tommee Tippee claims the filter "removes any impurities" giving | :04:21. | :04:26.
you "the very cleanest water for baby's formula". | :04:27. | :04:30.
It all sounds, well, perfect. But is this machine doing the job | :04:31. | :04:33.
as well as using the traditional method of boiling your water? | :04:34. | :04:38.
And is it worth paying out around ?100 for it? | :04:39. | :04:43.
We decided to test it out for ourselves. | :04:44. | :04:47.
And to help interpret the test results I've enlisted the help | :04:48. | :04:49.
We sent five machines used in the real world by real parents | :04:50. | :04:55.
They contained filters that had been used regularly in ordinary | :04:56. | :05:03.
households for between six and nine weeks - well within the three month | :05:04. | :05:06.
limit that Tommee Tippee advise before replacing the filter. | :05:07. | :05:10.
with sterile cold water. filled the machines | :05:11. | :05:16.
Well we know that the water that the lab's put into the machine | :05:17. | :05:21.
So if we do find bacteria coming out at the other end we know that it's | :05:22. | :05:26.
It could be very interesting. could be very telling. | :05:27. | :05:35.
that came out of the machine, cultured and incubated them to allow | :05:36. | :05:39.
In all of the tests the lab carried out the bacteria level | :05:40. | :05:44.
of the sterile water AFTER it had passed through the machine | :05:45. | :05:46.
was HIGHER than levels you'd expect to find in cold tap water. | :05:47. | :05:51.
In some cases only slightly higher, but some tests found levels | :05:52. | :05:53.
contaminated than tap water. actually much much more | :05:54. | :06:05.
claims their filter "removes any impurities from the water". | :06:06. | :06:08.
But our test shows that those used filters | :06:09. | :06:10.
The exact opposite of what the filter should do. | :06:11. | :06:14.
But what about filters fresh out of the box? | :06:15. | :06:18.
To find out how effective they are - the lab filled a machine containing | :06:19. | :06:22.
called Pseudomonas. of a common bacteria | :06:23. | :06:26.
Well to be fair the lab did put a huge amount | :06:27. | :06:32.
of bacteria through the filter to really challenge it. | :06:33. | :06:35.
At first the filter worked really, really well and even | :06:36. | :06:38.
despite the amount of bacteria that we put through there were no | :06:39. | :06:41.
But unfortunately by the third and fourth test - bacteria | :06:42. | :06:46.
were starting to filter through and get into the water. | :06:47. | :06:50.
could build up over time. from the other test how this | :06:51. | :06:58.
We asked consultant paediatrician Ravi Jayaram to look | :06:59. | :07:03.
He told us that any risk to healthy babies is incredibly low. | :07:04. | :07:08.
However, he adds that although it remains incredibly low risk extra | :07:09. | :07:11.
for vulnerable babies. load" - could possibly be a problem | :07:12. | :07:16.
conditions such as immune deficiencies or cystic fibrosis may | :07:17. | :07:21.
be at higher risk by being exposed to higher bacteria loads. | :07:22. | :07:27.
Now even though the bacteria load is still low there is a potential | :07:28. | :07:30.
that the babies are exposed to a higher load and therefore | :07:31. | :07:32.
Tommee Tippee has produced a machine that doesn't use boiled water | :07:33. | :07:37.
But is it as good as making formula the old fashioned way? | :07:38. | :07:44.
We asked two of the biggest formula manufacturers which method | :07:45. | :07:46.
They both said just use boiled water. | :07:47. | :07:54.
So is Tommee Tippee's Perfect Prep machine really worth the price? | :07:55. | :07:57.
And isn't it time the company took another look at its claims? | :07:58. | :08:04.
We provided Tommee Tippee with the results of our tests | :08:05. | :08:06.
and asked them for their response to our findings. | :08:07. | :08:08.
They sent us the following statement. | :08:09. | :08:19.
We completely refute the allegations made by Watchdog, who, | :08:20. | :08:21.
despite repeated requests, have refused to provide us with | :08:22. | :08:23.
We have shared the limited data provided to us with a leading | :08:24. | :08:27.
professor of microbiology at a top UK university, who has stated that | :08:28. | :08:30.
Watchdog is "scaremongering", the microbiology is "fundamentally | :08:31. | :08:32.
flawed" and "the results presented simply do not stand scientifically." | :08:33. | :08:41.
You know what you're getting this time of year, a lot of calories. | :08:42. | :08:51.
But in January, when you're looking to get a bit fitter, | :08:52. | :08:56.
here's something that vould catch you out. | :08:57. | :08:59.
This is the Tesco Healthy Living range which sells itself | :09:00. | :09:02.
as being "low in fat" or "reduced fat". | :09:03. | :09:05.
But when you compare some of them to Tesco's Everyday Value range, | :09:06. | :09:09.
You find the Healthy option has more fat than the regular one. | :09:10. | :09:20.
Healthy Living option 7.3g of fat per pack. | :09:21. | :09:29.
Next, sweet and sour chicken with rice. | :09:30. | :09:36.
And finally, coleslaw which is described as "reduced fat". | :09:37. | :09:48.
Per tablespoon, the Healthy Living one contains 5.5g of fat. | :09:49. | :09:55.
And the Everyday Value one, just 3.5g. | :09:56. | :10:00.
And the Everyday Value products are cheaper. | :10:01. | :10:05.
We contacted Tesco about this, who said. | :10:06. | :10:08.
"Products are always clearly labelled with their nutritional | :10:09. | :10:10.
content so that customers can make informed decisions | :10:11. | :10:12.
Two more health and fitness products to watch out for coming up later, | :10:13. | :10:21.
Tonight's Rogue Traders are messing around with our lives. | :10:22. | :10:26.
Selling cars that don't just endanger the drivers, | :10:27. | :10:29.
but others who might be unlucky enough to share | :10:30. | :10:31.
Lancashire, north west of England, home to the beautiful Ribble Valley | :10:32. | :10:52.
But let me warn you, the north west also has a beguiling | :10:53. | :11:00.
The A57 meets M67, M60 and it all takes a place on top | :11:01. | :11:12.
And it's not to be attempted unless your vehicle is in tip top | :11:13. | :11:22.
Which it may not be if you bought it from nearby | :11:23. | :11:27.
Euxton Motor Company Ltd, which changed its name | :11:28. | :11:29.
from Euxton Car Sales as of June this year. | :11:30. | :11:34.
They've been selling cars since 2003 and claim to have a "Fantastic | :11:35. | :11:40.
selection of quality used cars", providing a "personal customer | :11:41. | :11:42.
Luke Hibbert and Curtis Black specialise in selling | :11:43. | :11:46.
Alongside the name change they've also moved premises, | :11:47. | :11:53.
presumably to keep one step ahead of the many unsatisfied | :11:54. | :11:55.
customers they've sold stinkers to, like Stevie. | :11:56. | :11:59.
I had a bit of inheritance money and I thought what better way to buy | :12:00. | :12:05.
Stevie really wanted an Audi A3, so she searched online | :12:06. | :12:09.
and found this one for sale from Euxton Car Sales | :12:10. | :12:11.
Then she went down to their forecourt to have a look. | :12:12. | :12:18.
The MOT was tricky, it was advertised as 12 months | :12:19. | :12:24.
but when I got there I realised it had three months he said | :12:25. | :12:28.
he was gonna get into the garage to get it MOT'd, which he never did. | :12:29. | :12:32.
But Stevie loved the car so went ahead and bought it. | :12:33. | :12:34.
It wasn't long though before the car had problems. | :12:35. | :12:37.
When did it start to go wrong and how? | :12:38. | :12:39.
I picked it up on a Saturday and after driving it | :12:40. | :12:42.
The warning light for one of the headlights, and the aircon | :12:43. | :12:48.
That was the beginning of the obvious faults. | :12:49. | :12:55.
Stevie took it to her mechanic who found dangerously | :12:56. | :12:57.
fitted suspension bushes, it had underside damage | :12:58. | :13:00.
and the aircon fluid was leaking into the engine. | :13:01. | :13:02.
Did the garage give you an idea of how much to put it right? | :13:03. | :13:08.
He said if I had got the car for ?1,000 I would | :13:09. | :13:11.
Having zero luck trying to contact Luke Hibbert for a refund, | :13:12. | :13:18.
Stevie put her evidence in front of a judge who ruled in her favour | :13:19. | :13:21.
and is now preparing to enforce that judgement, | :13:22. | :13:24.
which means the bailiffs could be calling on Euxton | :13:25. | :13:26.
I mean, how dangerous could a car be? | :13:27. | :13:39.
Malcolm Greenbury exchanged his old car for a Land Rover | :13:40. | :13:42.
His car nightmare started only 20 minutes after he'd left | :13:43. | :13:48.
the forecourt, as he was driving down the motorway. | :13:49. | :13:51.
About 22 miles away from the garage the car started filling up | :13:52. | :13:55.
with smoke, the smoke was building and building. | :13:56. | :13:59.
I put the hazard lights on and look for somewhere to pull off. | :14:00. | :14:03.
I could see smoke coming out the engine, I was on the road works | :14:04. | :14:07.
on the M6 motorway and couldn't to pull off. | :14:08. | :14:10.
Eventually I saw some cones further ahead by which time | :14:11. | :14:13.
So I've got no power steering, it's power assisted steering | :14:14. | :14:17.
so doesn't work particularly well, there's no brakes because they work | :14:18. | :14:20.
He was coasting down the motorway at 20mph so he pulled onto the hard | :14:21. | :14:25.
shoulder and used his handbrake to stop the car. | :14:26. | :14:30.
I jumped out of the car, and obviously there was a fire | :14:31. | :14:32.
minutes two police cars arrived, got the dry foam, then a few minutes | :14:33. | :14:41.
later two fire engines turned up and they got the hoses | :14:42. | :14:44.
It could've been a whole lot worse, if I hadn't have found somewhere | :14:45. | :14:48.
to pull off then I'd have had to jump out into moving traffic. | :14:49. | :14:51.
But this is on same day you bought the vehicle. | :14:52. | :14:58.
Another thing Malcolm wasn't prepared for was their reaction | :14:59. | :15:04.
I spoke to the dealer and he said it's your fault, | :15:05. | :15:10.
it's your problem, you sort it out, mate. | :15:11. | :15:12.
After spending near on 4 grand making the car safe, | :15:13. | :15:18.
Malcolm found some more worrying news concerning the car's history | :15:19. | :15:21.
when the V5 registration document arrived in the post. | :15:22. | :15:25.
It told me the vehicle had been written off and because it had been | :15:26. | :15:28.
involved in an accident, the cost of repair was more | :15:29. | :15:35.
The V5 showed that at some point in the past the car had been salvaged. | :15:36. | :15:40.
So they sold you a write-off and never mentioned | :15:41. | :15:42.
How close did you think you were to something really | :15:43. | :15:49.
You don't travel on the motorway at 20 miles an hour on the motorway | :15:50. | :15:57.
whilst still in a lane of traffic, people don't expect that. | :15:58. | :16:00.
Catching fire while you're driving, yeah, that's really dangerous. | :16:01. | :16:08.
So what we need to do now is buy a car from Euxton Motor Company, | :16:09. | :16:12.
Two of our team members are off to Euxton Motor Company Ltd in search | :16:13. | :16:17.
But will it need a little tinker, or be a proper stinker? | :16:18. | :16:26.
Time now to tell you about another heath product, these dietary | :16:27. | :16:31.
They are sold by reps who advertise heavily on social | :16:32. | :16:35.
media, using all sorts of extraordinary claims. | :16:36. | :16:38.
And because the reps use social media, some of them | :16:39. | :16:42.
As well as saying they aid weight loss, a claim even | :16:43. | :16:46.
the company doesn't make, some of the sellers also | :16:47. | :16:49.
say the tablets can, "help many medical issues such | :16:50. | :16:54.
as thyroid problems, depression, Coeliac disease, IBS and arthritis." | :16:55. | :16:58.
We weren't so sure about that, so we checked with dietician Anna Daniels. | :16:59. | :17:04.
They are huge claims with no hard evidence to back them up. What's | :17:05. | :17:15.
worrying is that on the Internet and Facebook, people are being targeted | :17:16. | :17:18.
and often they are desperate people who may have tried many things and | :17:19. | :17:23.
are having severe symptoms. Simply taking a tablet isn't the answer. | :17:24. | :17:27.
We also saw another rep claiming that, "Juice Plus capsules | :17:28. | :17:29.
make a great dietary supplement for diabetics." | :17:30. | :17:31.
Diabetes is obviously a disease and to make a claim like this, again, | :17:32. | :17:46.
could be quite damaging. Diabetics have to watch their diet very | :17:47. | :17:51.
carefully and ensure that the insulin levels are controlled. So | :17:52. | :17:58.
taking a capsule can't really substitute for a healthy balanced | :17:59. | :17:59.
diet. And finally, most worrying, | :18:00. | :18:00.
it's been claimed that you should, "Switch your children | :18:01. | :18:03.
from medications and multivitamins to Juice Plus", | :18:04. | :18:06.
which sounds plain dangerous. Medications and multivitamins | :18:07. | :18:16.
prescribed to children by their GP, what they should be taking, they | :18:17. | :18:20.
shouldn't be taking advice off the Internet from anyone who isn't their | :18:21. | :18:25.
GP or dietician and taking your children off medication could be | :18:26. | :18:31.
highly damaging. We put all this to | :18:32. | :18:32.
Juice Plus who told us. It does not claim that its capsules | :18:33. | :18:35.
have any benefits related to weight loss and it markets products | :18:36. | :18:38.
as support for healthy living rather It adds that independent brand | :18:39. | :18:40.
advocates occasionally stray off-message and it has a department | :18:41. | :18:46.
that takes swift, decisive action when it discovers | :18:47. | :18:50.
this, or it is brought So, if you do spot any claims | :18:51. | :18:52.
you are suspicious of, tell them, and tell us if you see any product | :18:53. | :18:57.
being sold with claims Now this week's nationwide poll | :18:58. | :19:00.
is all about things that you say really make a difference when you're | :19:01. | :19:09.
trying to decide what car to buy. For example, 81% of Brits say that | :19:10. | :19:14.
miles per gallon figures would be an important factor when choosing | :19:15. | :19:17.
a new car. And 77% say that the level of CO2 | :19:18. | :19:20.
emissions are important because of course this affects | :19:21. | :19:27.
which tax band your car is in. And to put this into perspective, | :19:28. | :19:31.
this compares to just 44% who said the colour of the car | :19:32. | :19:34.
would be important. So, since MPG numbers | :19:35. | :19:38.
are so important, I've asked Team Watchdog to investigate how far | :19:39. | :19:46.
they can trust their MPGs. We've recruited a Team of Watchdog | :19:47. | :19:51.
viewers from across the UK. And investigate how to get | :19:52. | :19:53.
us all a better deal. we are looking at your cars and just | :19:54. | :20:05.
how far a tank of fuel Now there's claim's made aren't | :20:06. | :20:22.
there about how many miles per gallon your motor will do, | :20:23. | :20:27.
and that can be a big Well we want you to go out | :20:28. | :20:30.
and test your real MPG compared to what's advertised, | :20:31. | :20:39.
so buckle up, everyone, So what do the team think | :20:40. | :20:41.
about their car's fuel economy? I think that in my family I'm | :20:42. | :20:48.
the only one that has a diesel car so I think that I'm getting | :20:49. | :20:51.
the best mileage. My husband has a gas guzzler | :20:52. | :20:54.
so that does tend to cost What we are promised it can do, | :20:55. | :20:57.
and what it delivers, and what it says it delivers | :20:58. | :21:02.
on the dashboard, none of it is suspicions by hitting the road | :21:03. | :21:10.
and keeping a fuel diary for us. If you want to try this at home, | :21:11. | :21:16.
here's how it works. We've asked our team | :21:17. | :21:20.
to fill their tank to the top then Then they drive until the fuel | :21:21. | :21:23.
gauge hits the red. Refill the car to the top again | :21:24. | :21:29.
and make a note of how many gallons Divide that up and that gives | :21:30. | :21:33.
us their real world MPG. They're then comparing this | :21:34. | :21:41.
to the "combined MPG" advertised When cars were first sold | :21:42. | :21:43.
to the masses MPG figures weren't a big selling point, | :21:44. | :21:54.
although they weren't that bad. In 1908, Henry Ford introduced | :21:55. | :22:00.
the Model T, the first mass-produced car, and it can do up to 25 | :22:01. | :22:03.
miles per gallon. But things started to change | :22:04. | :22:11.
during the fuel crisis of the 1970s, which put petrol and diesel prices | :22:12. | :22:22.
firmly in the minds of drivers. Led by this public mood, | :22:23. | :22:27.
manufacturers focused on making big improvements in fuel economy | :22:28. | :22:31.
through the 1980s and 90s. But despite these improvements, | :22:32. | :22:34.
even the most economical drivers will find these advertised | :22:35. | :22:38.
figures almost impossible And that's all down to how | :22:39. | :22:40.
these advertised MPG using what is called the | :22:41. | :22:45.
New European Driving Cycle tests, These are laboratory tests | :22:46. | :22:54.
and manufacturers have a few tactics up their sleeves to get | :22:55. | :23:03.
the best results. They don't use heating, | :23:04. | :23:08.
lighting and there are no weather They also push back brake | :23:09. | :23:14.
pads to reduce friction, which all help to give | :23:15. | :23:19.
an impressive MPG result. figures and what you can actually | :23:20. | :23:22.
achieve can leave drivers paying hundreds of pounds | :23:23. | :23:32.
more than they thought So how realistic are those | :23:33. | :23:34.
advertised MPG scores? When our team tested their real | :23:35. | :23:41.
MPG they told us that on average their results were 20% | :23:42. | :23:46.
below the combined MPG And the worst result saw a team | :23:47. | :23:49.
member telling us their real world MPG being recorded at 66% | :23:50. | :23:56.
less than advertised. Coming up, I head to Northampton | :23:57. | :24:00.
to help one member of our team try and get closer | :24:01. | :24:04.
to his advertised MPG. Steph, an average of 20% lower | :24:05. | :24:13.
than the advertised MPG, What can you find out | :24:14. | :24:15.
from these tests? I'm sure a lot of people are | :24:16. | :24:22.
wondering that. Well, they won't tell you what your | :24:23. | :24:25.
MPG in the real world could be, but they do allow you to compare one | :24:26. | :24:28.
car with another. The good news is, we | :24:29. | :24:32.
contacted the the SMMT, the industry body for car makers, | :24:33. | :24:34.
and they told us that there's a new test being introduced next | :24:35. | :24:37.
year which will better reflect And, Steph, we've had some more | :24:38. | :24:40.
interesting results from this Yes, we asked people to list some | :24:41. | :24:44.
of the things they've done over the last 12 months to reduce how | :24:45. | :24:50.
much they spend on fuel and they are trying a lot | :24:51. | :24:53.
of different things. 24% told us they have changed | :24:54. | :24:55.
to a more energy efficient vehicle. And 47% told us they have modified | :24:56. | :25:08.
the way they drive to use less fuel. Something that I've suggested one | :25:09. | :25:16.
member of Team Watchdog to try out. Your driving style can have a big | :25:17. | :25:19.
impact on your real MPG so I've come to Northampton to meet Arif Rahman | :25:20. | :25:25.
to give him, and you, some tips Arif bought his car several months | :25:26. | :25:29.
ago to travel to and from university and is far from happy | :25:30. | :25:36.
with his fuel economy. You haven't had this car long, | :25:37. | :25:47.
did you know the miles to Arif's car for a week, | :25:48. | :25:50.
to see exactly what fuel economy he was getting and whether his | :25:51. | :26:08.
driving style might First up, his car is | :26:09. | :26:10.
advertised as 74.3mpg. That's actually not | :26:11. | :26:17.
far off my old car. And one of the reasons I upgraded | :26:18. | :26:28.
to this is because it's going to be our experts have pointed out some | :26:29. | :26:32.
simple tips to help him and the rest First up, Arif's data | :26:33. | :26:38.
shows hard acceleration, Drive smoothly away from standing | :26:39. | :26:44.
starts to increase MPG. When your foot is off | :26:45. | :26:51.
the accelerator in modern cars, So when you know you're coming up | :26:52. | :26:54.
to a stop take your foot off the accelerator, | :26:55. | :27:01.
and let the car slow down at its own pace instead of | :27:02. | :27:06.
slamming on the brakes. As we're coming to these | :27:07. | :27:11.
lights, slow down. It goes green, so there | :27:12. | :27:15.
we go, straight off. Another obvious thing is speed, | :27:16. | :27:21.
so 10 mph can so reducing air resistance by 25%, | :27:22. | :27:26.
the more fuel you use. I leave Arif with his tips | :27:27. | :27:29.
and we continue to monitor his data for a week, to see if he can | :27:30. | :27:32.
make his car more fuel efficient. It's been going good, it feels like | :27:33. | :27:54.
a driving diet. LAUGHTER Overall, you're miles per gallon has | :27:55. | :27:58.
gone up by 6% because you are a better driver. That's good news. | :27:59. | :28:01.
Still work to be done. And that 6% improvement could see | :28:02. | :28:03.
a reduction of around ?160 Now, over the series we've been | :28:04. | :28:06.
telling you about some of the latest frauds affecting people | :28:07. | :28:19.
across the UK. Most of them start with | :28:20. | :28:20.
an email or a phone call. Tonight's is a bit different, | :28:21. | :28:23.
and it's particularly believable. It all starts when you get | :28:24. | :28:29.
a letter like this, claiming It's got the bank's logo, address | :28:30. | :28:31.
and also a signature from a customer The letter says there have been some | :28:32. | :28:39.
"unusual transactions" on your account and asks you to call | :28:40. | :28:45.
a number to confirm When you ring up you get | :28:46. | :28:48.
an automated message asking you to type in your card number, | :28:49. | :28:55.
account number, sort code, date of birth and digits | :28:56. | :28:59.
from your security number. Sometimes you then get passed | :29:00. | :29:04.
on to a call centre, possibly even a real Lloyds call | :29:05. | :29:08.
centre in some versions of the scam, which can also | :29:09. | :29:11.
make it seem legitimate. This is a particularly sophisticated | :29:12. | :29:14.
phishing scam and serves as a warning that you should always | :29:15. | :29:17.
question correspondence from your bank, no matter | :29:18. | :29:20.
how genuine it looks. Lloyds told us that | :29:21. | :29:23.
if you are suspicious about any letters you get, | :29:24. | :29:27.
contact them using the number on your bank card, as we've | :29:28. | :29:31.
said before this series. It's the only number | :29:32. | :29:33.
you can completely trust. And of course the same applies | :29:34. | :29:35.
to any letter you receive claiming Park Dean Resorts, elderly | :29:36. | :29:38.
caravan owners were told they could stay for good, | :29:39. | :29:49.
but we heard from many who were told they could be forced out | :29:50. | :29:52.
of places they call home. They drove over a hundred miles | :29:53. | :29:55.
to get the Christmas tree they wanted from B, | :29:56. | :30:00.
only to find it had a faulty plug. We're having a proper rummage around | :30:01. | :30:11.
at Exton Motor Company Ltd There may be other car companies | :30:12. | :30:14.
with a similar name out there. Unlikely, admittedly, | :30:15. | :30:19.
but if there are, then please don't mistake them for this one, | :30:20. | :30:22.
on the Preston Road. In Chorley, Lancashire, | :30:23. | :30:26.
we've rigged two members of our production team with secret | :30:27. | :30:28.
cameras and sent them to the Euxton Motor Company to buy | :30:29. | :30:30.
one of their motors. The car we're interested in is | :30:31. | :30:42.
a silver Volkswagen polo - oooh but that doesn't mean it | :30:43. | :30:45.
shouldn't be roadworthy. It's also being sold | :30:46. | :30:51.
as having 12 months MOT, out it out on the open road. | :30:52. | :30:53.
so not fine to drive it straight There we go, here's | :30:54. | :31:00.
Luke Hibbert and Curtis Black. For the VW, I got lost, | :31:01. | :31:06.
I was speaking to one Yeah the polo. | :31:07. | :31:10.
Is this your first Normally to get a car started you'd | :31:11. | :31:20.
use an ignition key. He has such low expectations | :31:21. | :31:25.
of what the car can do, he goes straight for a jump pack - | :31:26. | :31:29.
a portable battery with some Once he's given the battery a bit | :31:30. | :31:32.
of a boost it's ready It's a good job we're | :31:33. | :31:38.
not in a hurry. Now we know it works, | :31:39. | :31:52.
the next question. We know it doesn't have | :31:53. | :31:57.
a certificate, but that it's No, I'll get it in, I'll | :31:58. | :32:01.
get it booked in today, It's got a week and half left | :32:02. | :32:15.
on it, it's got a week But we know the certificate for this | :32:16. | :32:21.
car expired in March. He's lied to us, and is prepared to | :32:22. | :32:25.
let us drive the car out, illegally. It's got a full service | :32:26. | :32:29.
history this car. I didn't even know, | :32:30. | :32:31.
I don't really check them, Ah so that's 'personal customer | :32:32. | :32:36.
service that is second to none' Before we make a decision, | :32:37. | :32:43.
Curtis wants to show us Gonna need your jump | :32:44. | :32:50.
leads again aren't you? But this one doesn't have much life | :32:51. | :33:03.
in it either and even with his trusty jump pack Curtis | :33:04. | :33:06.
can't get it started at all. So back to the first | :33:07. | :33:09.
car - the Silver Polo. Has that one had any history | :33:10. | :33:17.
of accidents at all or is it? It's clear pal, I look it that way, | :33:18. | :33:20.
you sell it to an old lady with a family or anything like that | :33:21. | :33:23.
and something happens it's on me, I'd just rather, straight cars, | :33:24. | :33:27.
make money and that's it, Another lie Curtis, | :33:28. | :33:29.
remember, the car he's happy With our possible purchase | :33:30. | :33:32.
still running in the background our Although I'm a bit concerned | :33:33. | :33:36.
about the surprised it just made. If you put the fuel in there now | :33:37. | :33:43.
it'll be as sweet as a nut. us for our 500 quid. | :33:44. | :33:46.
what Curtis is going to sell Yeah yeah it's got tax yeah, | :33:47. | :33:51.
it's showing tax now. And I'll put it on my database now, | :33:52. | :33:56.
I'll put it on the insurance now. As there's no current MOT | :33:57. | :34:01.
certificate - any tax or insurance registered | :34:02. | :34:03.
on the vehicle is invalid. We soon find out the ?500 we pay | :34:04. | :34:05.
for the car is pennies in comparison to what Curtis has raked in in car | :34:06. | :34:09.
sales in the last 3 hours. I've sold 5 already this morning, | :34:10. | :34:16.
one 4 grand car, one a 1000 pound, one 4.5 grand and I've just sold two | :34:17. | :34:20.
online that adds up to 12.5 grand. And he's not the only | :34:21. | :34:24.
one raking it in. Luke Hibbert is also | :34:25. | :34:26.
benefitting in a big way. You know the Lake District - he's | :34:27. | :34:29.
got a million pound boat. by our purchase we want to get this | :34:30. | :34:40.
unMOT'd car off the road On Curtis' advice we head just down | :34:41. | :34:51.
the road to the petrol station to get some juice for our little | :34:52. | :34:55.
runner so that it will make it to the low loader we have safely | :34:56. | :34:59.
waiting for us around the corner. Though far from being 'sweet | :35:00. | :35:02.
as a nut' after we filled I've just gone to fill it up and now | :35:03. | :35:04.
the car won't start. But holy moly - look who's just | :35:05. | :35:09.
turned up at the petrol station!? By complete coincidence | :35:10. | :35:13.
he came to fill up too. Curtis' first tactic is to use brute | :35:14. | :35:16.
force to try and move I'll just chuck my | :35:17. | :35:21.
jump pack back on it. Where would we be | :35:22. | :35:27.
without Curtis' jump pack. Get it on the motorway and that | :35:28. | :35:33.
will charge that easy. I'm an honest company | :35:34. | :35:36.
I wouldn't sell you. That's matter of an opinion Curtis - | :35:37. | :35:40.
an opinion better given After a trip on a low-loaded | :35:41. | :35:43.
lorry it's time our Mike the mechanic and MOT expert | :35:44. | :35:52.
gave our run-a-round Mike has been working | :35:53. | :35:54.
with cars for over 30 years, and what he doesn't know about cars | :35:55. | :35:59.
isn't worth knowing. When I bought the vehicle | :36:00. | :36:02.
in the first thing I noticed The engine management light | :36:03. | :36:10.
is displayed which indicates a fault - even if they have no mechanical | :36:11. | :36:19.
knowledge they should've I'd expect the clutch to last maybe | :36:20. | :36:21.
a couple of weeks before it needs replacing - it's an expensive job | :36:22. | :36:26.
on any vehicle! Mike estimated the cost | :36:27. | :36:28.
of replacing the clutch at 290 Tyres quite badly perished, | :36:29. | :36:30.
you can see the cracking It must pass the MOT with a minimum | :36:31. | :36:35.
tread depth of 1.6 ml - this car would not pass the mot test | :36:36. | :36:44.
with that tyre fitted to it. The one thing I have spotted | :36:45. | :36:47.
straight away is the washer bottle. The washer motor is not even | :36:48. | :36:53.
connected electrically to anything. Because that's not working | :36:54. | :36:57.
that is an MOT fail We knew from the advert | :36:58. | :36:59.
that the car's windscreen had a SMALL crack, but this | :37:00. | :37:06.
is not small. As you can see there's a on this car | :37:07. | :37:09.
there's a continuous crack all the way through - if there's | :37:10. | :37:13.
a more than 40 mil worth of damage that's becomes an MOT fail - | :37:14. | :37:17.
as you can quite clearly see that area there itself is 400 ml so that | :37:18. | :37:21.
vehicle is not road worthy on the basis of that crack | :37:22. | :37:26.
on the windscreen. It's at this point you may be asking | :37:27. | :37:31.
yourself 'can this get any worse? If you pop round this side notice | :37:32. | :37:35.
the steering cowling is all missing. You've got the indicator | :37:36. | :37:41.
arm on this side. When we go for the wiper arm, | :37:42. | :37:45.
it's missing so we've effectively got no washers or wipers | :37:46. | :37:47.
on the vehicle at what point do you realise the washer and wipers | :37:48. | :37:50.
aren't going to work - is that at 70 miles an hour when you're | :37:51. | :37:58.
approaching the back of a truck? It's definite MOT fail - the washers | :37:59. | :38:00.
and wipers are a must. You paid 500 I'd probably pay 50 - | :38:01. | :38:03.
it's a scrap vehicle the price of the clutch and the other items | :38:04. | :38:08.
that need addressing to make the vehicle road worthy outweigh s | :38:09. | :38:12.
the 500 pound of the cost So, we another Euxton Motor Company | :38:13. | :38:15.
car that's not street legal, and isn't going to be | :38:16. | :38:24.
without spending Luke Hibbert has supplied us | :38:25. | :38:26.
with an accident waiting to happen. Not much, a pair of trainers | :38:27. | :38:38.
if they're on sale. But it's free to see what happens | :38:39. | :38:42.
when we take our car in compact form Stick around for | :38:43. | :38:46.
the next ten minutes. Now, Steph, who else has been | :38:47. | :38:55.
getting in touch this week? We've had a right mix, | :38:56. | :39:05.
including Paul Potts, remember him? Cracking voice and also | :39:06. | :39:08.
used to be a supermarket Well, he's a big fan of the show | :39:09. | :39:12.
and got in touch to say he couldn't believe that a supermarket had | :39:13. | :39:19.
swapped nappies for chorizo. First up is 41-year-old | :39:20. | :39:24.
Cheryl Aspinall. She booked a holiday to Portugal | :39:25. | :39:34.
for herself and her sister, They were due to travel | :39:35. | :39:37.
in September, but earlier this year Cheryl found out she has | :39:38. | :39:47.
a congenital heart condition Because Ryanair has a discretionary | :39:48. | :39:49.
policy to refund people who are seriously ill, | :39:50. | :39:55.
Cheryl applied to get her money back, but the airline refused, | :39:56. | :39:58.
despite Cheryl providing letters from her GP and consultant | :39:59. | :40:00.
cardiologist. We got in touch with Ryanair | :40:01. | :40:07.
who told us the letter from Cheryl's doctor did not say she was unfit | :40:08. | :40:10.
to fly or when the surgery But said it would look | :40:11. | :40:13.
into the matter further And I'm pleased to tell you, | :40:14. | :40:16.
Cheryl's also on the mend. Now if you've been on the hunt | :40:17. | :40:27.
for a good Christmas tree, We got an e-mail from James | :40:28. | :40:30.
Vannuffell, surname of the series, and his partner Martin | :40:31. | :40:38.
after they bought Here it is, the 6ft, | :40:39. | :40:40.
pre-lit LED pop-up Christmas tree. James Vannuffell did a 100-mile | :40:41. | :40:45.
round trip to collect the tree, but after getting it home, | :40:46. | :40:49.
realised the plug didn't work. In fact, it blew the main | :40:50. | :40:53.
fuse in the house. Then, when he put the tree back | :40:54. | :40:59.
in the box he noticed a returns label, stating the tree | :41:00. | :41:03.
did have a faulty plug. So he drove 100 miles round trip | :41:04. | :41:08.
again to return the tree, We got in touch with B who told us | :41:09. | :41:11.
it has apologised to James and are investigating how | :41:12. | :41:18.
he was sold the faulty tree. They've also refunded him | :41:19. | :41:22.
for the cost of his trips to B and found him a new tree, | :41:23. | :41:25.

a mix of holiday rentals But we've heard from some caravan | :41:54. | :42:01.
owners who were told they had Despite being previously | :42:02. | :42:05.
told they could stay Decorating your home | :42:06. | :42:08.
for Christmas is one And what we all want for Christmas | :42:09. | :42:15.
is time with our friends and family Most of those who visit | :42:16. | :42:22.
Parkdean Resort's 72 nationwide You can buy a caravan and rent | :42:23. | :42:29.
a pitch spending up to 10 months But some residents of | :42:30. | :42:41.
Parkdean Resorts have contacted us to say they've been told they'll | :42:42. | :42:46.
have to leave their caravans All this despite being | :42:47. | :42:48.
told they could stay So they'll be spending | :42:49. | :42:52.
their Christmas packing A lot of the residents we've heard | :42:53. | :42:56.
from bought their caravans when the sites were owned | :42:57. | :43:03.
by a company called Their initial contracts stated | :43:04. | :43:05.
that they could have their caravan or pitch for 10 years, | :43:06. | :43:12.
then they'd have to spend thousands of pounds on another | :43:13. | :43:15.
caravan or move on. This is known as the "age rule". | :43:16. | :43:20.
But then in 2004 the sites And the deal seemed to get a whole | :43:21. | :43:23.
lot better, Park Resorts told owners that this age rule didn't apply | :43:24. | :43:28.
and they could stay in their caravan Owners were told in person | :43:29. | :43:31.
and received a newsletter saying that the age rule had been removed | :43:32. | :43:40.
and, "You can keep your caravans But last year another merger led | :43:41. | :43:43.
to the creation of Parkdean Resorts. And unwelcome letters from both | :43:44. | :43:50.
Park Resorts and Parkdean suggested there had been a major | :43:51. | :43:53.
change of policy. Over the past two years owners have | :43:54. | :43:57.
been shocked to receive letters saying that the company will not be | :43:58. | :43:59.
extending their contracts. And they'd either have | :44:00. | :44:03.
to spend thousands to buy 74-year-old Valerie has been | :44:04. | :44:05.
on the Naze Marine site in Essex since 1999 and has many happy | :44:06. | :44:14.
memories with her family there. My children came | :44:15. | :44:28.
there in their teens. And then my grandchildren came | :44:29. | :44:29.
since they were a year old. They could run on the grass, | :44:30. | :44:32.
go on the beach, on to the pier and it was family time, | :44:33. | :44:35.
for all of us. And for 30 years we've always had | :44:36. | :44:38.
somewhere to go for fun. But despite having received | :44:39. | :44:44.
the newsletter saying she could stay on the site in her caravan | :44:45. | :44:50.
as long as she wanted, she has recently been sent a letter | :44:51. | :44:53.
saying she has to buy a new caravan What did it feel like | :44:54. | :44:56.
when you got the letter? I was really upset because I knew | :44:57. | :45:04.
I couldn't afford to upgrade and really I just thought my only | :45:05. | :45:12.
option is to leave, and you're My grandchildren, two | :45:13. | :45:15.
of them were in tears, because my grandsons | :45:16. | :45:20.
wanted their children to be down there and have the same | :45:21. | :45:22.
freedom that they'd had. What would you say to Parkdean | :45:23. | :45:25.
Resorts if they were here now? I would say to them please let me | :45:26. | :45:31.
stay because of all the wonderful They are getting their ground | :45:32. | :45:34.
rent every year, our I feel like I can't do anything | :45:35. | :45:38.
to alleviate apart from spending perhaps ?30,000 to buy a caravan, | :45:39. | :45:49.
which I don't have. Unable to pay, Val is packing | :45:50. | :45:54.
up her caravan and preparing to say goodbye to | :45:55. | :46:02.
the site at Christmas. Lynda Alexander who has | :46:03. | :46:06.
lived at the Camber Sands resorts since 2004, was also shocked | :46:07. | :46:10.
to receive a letter this autumn saying that she had | :46:11. | :46:13.
to leave within 90 days. Over the past two years she has | :46:14. | :46:15.
invested heavily in the caravan, spending ?7,000 on decking, | :46:16. | :46:18.
believing she could stay And we have heard from many more | :46:19. | :46:20.
residents across the country who are shocked to hear | :46:21. | :46:28.
they will have to leave too. And more concerningly, | :46:29. | :46:31.
it seems even if you have a very good reason to stay, | :46:32. | :46:34.
it doesn't mean Parkdean Last year Derek Hicks and his wife | :46:35. | :46:36.
Maureen received a letter from Park Resorts also asking them | :46:37. | :46:43.
to upgrade or leave their caravan on the Cresswell Towers | :46:44. | :46:46.
site in Northumberland. We'd been on the caravan | :46:47. | :46:48.
site about 19 years It was lovely, we adapted | :46:49. | :46:50.
the caravan the way we wanted it. We had some lovely times, | :46:51. | :46:56.
it was a great feeling Everybody spoke to you, | :46:57. | :46:58.
the atmosphere was terrific. But then in the last two | :46:59. | :47:03.
years Maureen got ill. Um, and she had quite | :47:04. | :47:06.
a few problems, she went We had to live in the front | :47:07. | :47:09.
room of our caravan, we had to sleep in the front room | :47:10. | :47:19.
of our caravan, she was so bad. But there was always hope | :47:20. | :47:22.
that she would get better in time. The physios were coming in, | :47:23. | :47:25.
trying to get her on her feet a bit. Maureen's doctor wrote a letter | :47:26. | :47:28.
stating she shouldn't be moved. But the newly-merged company, | :47:29. | :47:31.
Parkdean Resorts, refused to listen. It was a begging letter, pleading, | :47:32. | :47:39.
stating about the health that Maureen was in, | :47:40. | :47:42.
her mam was in. I would have thought they would have | :47:43. | :47:44.
looked at the situation and perhaps given us a bit extra time, | :47:45. | :47:50.
and they just didn't, In the end, they were | :47:51. | :47:52.
forced to leave the site. What we had to do to get | :47:53. | :47:58.
Maureen out of the caravan We had to cut a hole in the side | :47:59. | :48:01.
of the caravan door and we had to get a wheelchair and built a ramp | :48:02. | :48:08.
and we had to wheel her down the ramp into a taxi, got her home | :48:09. | :48:14.
that way and it was a lot of stress, that, then two | :48:15. | :48:18.
weeks after she died. Very unhappy times and I'm really | :48:19. | :48:24.
still very very raw, raw about it. So, are Parkdean Resorts allowed | :48:25. | :48:31.
to do this to their residents after the previous company | :48:32. | :48:41.
sent that newsletter? We asked contract law | :48:42. | :48:43.
expert Christina Perry that the newsletter is admitted | :48:44. | :48:45.
as what we call a side contract And the terms of this newsletter may | :48:46. | :48:54.
well overturn or override the terms But, it is very much an open | :48:55. | :48:59.
question and it is not something So will Parkdean's Resorts residents | :49:00. | :49:04.
have to leave by new year? Or will the company | :49:05. | :49:11.
have a change of heart? So, Nikki, what have Parkdean | :49:12. | :49:16.
Resorts said about your report? Parkdean say they are sorry | :49:17. | :49:20.
for any distress caused and has now confirmed, | :49:21. | :49:22.
in writing, that all those affected The company apologises | :49:23. | :49:25.
to Derek Hicks for how they dealt with his late wife, | :49:26. | :49:34.
admitting it handled It has offered Val the right to stay | :49:35. | :49:36.
in her caravan and is working to try to resolve Mr | :49:37. | :49:43.
and Mrs Alexander's complaint. And, Nikki, you've also got | :49:44. | :49:45.
some tips for anyone You are not just buying the caravan, | :49:46. | :50:02.
the annual fees of being on the site and also the maintenance costs, gas, | :50:03. | :50:08.
electricity. It can mount up. The contract as well, important that you | :50:09. | :50:12.
look at it closely. You need to know how long you can stay on this, the | :50:13. | :50:17.
minimum should be ten years. And people might want to sublet it, that | :50:18. | :50:23.
may not be allowed? You might be allowed, you might not, they might | :50:24. | :50:27.
sublet it for you. You must work out how much of the year you can spend | :50:28. | :50:30.
in it because you can't spend the whole time that Mac. Heavenly check | :50:31. | :50:35.
how long you can stay. And what if you want to sell it? Buying a | :50:36. | :50:41.
caravan, wonderful as it is, is not like buying a house, it is more like | :50:42. | :50:47.
buying a car, it is going to depreciate and you won't make any | :50:48. | :50:50.
money. If you are selling, you may only be offered the trade price. If | :50:51. | :50:57.
you sell it privately, you may not be able to or the site might take | :50:58. | :51:03.
commission. You buy it for love, don't you, not money. | :51:04. | :51:06.
A lot of these are going to be under the Christmas tree | :51:07. | :51:09.
It's a fitness tracker you wear on your wrist that records how much | :51:10. | :51:14.
But we've heard the Fitbit might not be fit for purpose, | :51:15. | :51:20.
with hundreds of people saying that the strap is prone to breaking | :51:21. | :51:23.
For example, Aisling Temperley bought a Fitbit Charge HR | :51:24. | :51:30.
Since then the strap has peeled away and needed replacing three times. | :51:31. | :51:38.
Although Fitbit has given Aisling the new straps free of charge, | :51:39. | :51:40.
she's tired of having to get in touch every few | :51:41. | :51:43.
So, is there a manufacturing problem with the Fitbit strap? | :51:44. | :51:49.
"The experiences reported are not typical and Fitbit conduct extensive | :51:50. | :51:57.
testing and apply stringent standards to their products. | :51:58. | :52:02.
It also says that when customers like Aisling report problems, | :52:03. | :52:05.
There's more information about maintaining your | :52:06. | :52:07.

the Tesco Healthy Living range and Juice Plus on our | :52:14. | :52:15.
Luke Hibbert and Curtis Black have been selling cars that could bring | :52:16. | :52:21.
If you're lucky, they'll break down like ours did and leave | :52:22. | :52:25.
But we've heard of them being dangerously unroadworthy, | :52:26. | :52:31.
and, in one case, even catching fire. | :52:32. | :52:33.
So, Curtis Black and Luke Hibbert sold us this car that they said | :52:34. | :52:45.
But before I confront Euxton Motor Company Ltd, there's | :52:46. | :52:55.
The first thing we need to do is deal with this, | :52:56. | :53:09.
our 50 quid's worth of car; chances are were not | :53:10. | :53:11.
going to get our money back so we need to the decent thing. | :53:12. | :53:15.
Crushing our car will ensure that it doesn't end up on the road | :53:16. | :53:19.
again or on the forecourt of another dodgy dealer. | :53:20. | :53:23.
And it doesn't take long before it's boxed and ready for transport back | :53:24. | :53:26.
to the company that flogged it to us. | :53:27. | :53:31.
We reach Euxton Motor Company Ltd's premises, the place | :53:32. | :53:34.
we bought our car from, and surprise, surprise, | :53:35. | :53:39.
driven by Luke Hibbert and Curtis Black is still there. | :53:40. | :53:45.
But our security expert told us they can be aggressive and advised | :53:46. | :53:48.
I'm adamant they need to hear what we have to say. | :53:49. | :53:52.
So, time to bring out the loud hailer. | :53:53. | :53:57.
Luke Hibbert, Luke Hibbert, if you're on the premises come | :53:58. | :54:00.
How can you sell cars to people when you claim they have | :54:01. | :54:07.
got MOTs when they haven't, it means they are taking them out | :54:08. | :54:10.
onto the road thinking they are safe when they are not. | :54:11. | :54:12.
Just as it seems my protestations are falling on deaf ears, | :54:13. | :54:17.
Curtis turns up, the man we bought our car from just days earlier. | :54:18. | :54:23.
Curtis, we are returning the car you sold us for ?500. | :54:24. | :54:32.
It's scrap, 50 quid, that's all it's worth it was sold to us | :54:33. | :54:35.
completely un-roadworthy with no MOT it shouldn't have been on the road | :54:36. | :54:38.
at all and you're doing it for other customers other customers whose cars | :54:39. | :54:41.
let them down, and other customers whose cars in some cases | :54:42. | :54:44.
We'd love to hear explain why you can do that, Curtis. | :54:45. | :54:50.
And just as I was getting started, Curtis seeks to avoid | :54:51. | :54:53.
the confrontation and backs his car out and off down the road. | :54:54. | :54:56.
But I managed to speak to him on the phone a short while later. | :54:57. | :55:02.
Yeah it's Matt Allwright from BBC Rogue Traders. | :55:03. | :55:11.
BBC Rogue Traders, it's the country's leading motorcycle | :55:12. | :55:18.
themed investigative consumer programme. | :55:19. | :55:19.
You sold us a car, a VW Polo, a silver one, and it | :55:20. | :55:28.
home and it would never pass its MOT and we scrapped it. | :55:29. | :55:32.
And that's what you saw on the flatbed truck earlier today. | :55:33. | :55:36.
So can you explain to me why you are selling motor cars | :55:37. | :55:54.
which are unroadworthy and in some cases burst into flames | :55:55. | :55:56.
It seems my questioning has hit a nerve and Curtis hangs up. | :55:57. | :56:00.
I haven't managed to press Curtis Black or Luke Hibbert | :56:01. | :56:03.
for information on the dangerous cars they're selling, | :56:04. | :56:06.
but at least we've put the Polo we bought from them under pressure. | :56:07. | :56:09.
That is one less car that will be driven onto the roads | :56:10. | :56:17.
from either Euxton Car Sales, or Euxton Motor Company, and that | :56:18. | :56:19.
In a statement to us, Luke Hibbert said he was previously | :56:20. | :56:32.
employed for a short time by Euxton Motor Company, but that he | :56:33. | :56:34.
He says at no point has he had any involvement | :56:35. | :56:38.
He denied any allegation that he has had any knowledge of or been | :56:39. | :56:43.
responsible for or complicit in misleading any of his former | :56:44. | :56:45.
employer's customers, at point of sale or otherwise, | :56:46. | :56:47.
However, their involvement in selling cars which have no place | :56:48. | :56:56.
on the road means that they both find a place on our Rogues Gallery. | :56:57. | :57:00.
