battle it out on your behalf. Excuse me, you never checked those vehicles | :00:24. | :00:30.
when you sold them. We are here to fight your corner. | :00:31. | :00:40.
The 4x4S with some worrying rust problems! | :00:41. | :00:46.
It's dangerous and somebody's gonna get hurt. | :00:47. | :00:54.
Thomson's state-of-the-art Dreamliner promises | :00:55. | :00:56.
to "change the future of flying" sounds great - IF it turns up! | :00:57. | :01:02.
I didn't know how to tell my wife - this was our dream holiday | :01:03. | :01:08.
And it's every pet owner's worst nightmare - | :01:09. | :01:12.
we investigate the rise in dog thefts around Wales. | :01:13. | :01:17.
I don't know if he's alive, or I don't know if someone's got him | :01:18. | :01:21.
and if they're looking after him or if they're not looking after him. | :01:22. | :01:28.
First tonight - Rachel's been delving into a hidden problem | :01:29. | :01:31.
which is making some Nissan owners VERY nervous! | :01:32. | :01:38.
Sleek for the city and a popular off-roader too. | :01:39. | :01:49.
The D40 Navara's a 4 x 4 that not only looks good | :01:50. | :01:52.
but has some serious horsepower behind it too - | :01:53. | :01:57.
Since it went on sale in 2005, there's been no shortage of people | :01:58. | :02:05.
willing to fork out more than ?17,000 for one. | :02:06. | :02:15.
But underneath some of these 4x4s, there are flaws | :02:16. | :02:17.
that Nissan aren't quite so keen to shout out about. | :02:18. | :02:24.
Rust - causing serious weaknesses in the chassis, | :02:25. | :02:26.
The problem affects some models sold between 2005 and 2008. | :02:27. | :02:37.
But sheepdog trainer Malcom Jones from Swansea | :02:38. | :02:39.
He bought his 07 plate Navara five years ago. | :02:40. | :02:47.
Everything you wanted was in that car. | :02:48. | :02:51.
Sat nav, electric seats, electric windows and plenty of room | :02:52. | :02:53.
for my dogs in the back, so I couldn't wish for better. | :02:54. | :02:59.
Malcolm's Navara had served him well - until last November. | :03:00. | :03:04.
He and his wife were driving home when they heard a loud noise. | :03:05. | :03:08.
There was one hell of a mighty bang! | :03:09. | :03:11.
It was very frightening cos I didn't know what had happened. | :03:12. | :03:18.
And when Malcolm saw the damage, he couldn't believe his eyes. | :03:19. | :03:22.
All that was holding the car together was the tin | :03:23. | :03:29.
from the back where it's bolted onto the front. | :03:30. | :03:32.
Malcolm's daughter, Michelle, was shocked by her parents' close call. | :03:33. | :03:39.
They were going 60 on the motorway literally half an hour previous | :03:40. | :03:49.
to it snapping, so you know, dread to think | :03:50. | :03:51.
Nissan collected the car and agreed to pay Malcolm | :03:52. | :03:57.
And when Malcolm's family went online, they discovered | :03:58. | :04:05.
they weren't the only Navara owners with a problem chassis. | :04:06. | :04:12.
They found a facebook campaign, set up by Navara owners | :04:13. | :04:15.
Nissan has inspected - and offered to buy back | :04:16. | :04:22.
some vehicles with excessively rusty chassis. | :04:23. | :04:27.
But Gerwyn Davies from Pembrokeshire is far from happy | :04:28. | :04:30.
I dropped the car off down at the local MOT station. | :04:31. | :04:37.
The MOT inspector phoned me and said that there's a lot | :04:38. | :04:40.
Gerwyn, who bought his 55-plate Navara in May, | :04:41. | :04:49.
was surprised to learn of many other Navara owners | :04:50. | :04:51.
The problem was getting widescale, | :04:52. | :04:56.
and all of a sudden know I'm just thinking, | :04:57. | :04:58.
"Oh, my God, we've got a serious problem here." | :04:59. | :05:01.
I've got family who travel in the car with me. | :05:02. | :05:03.
I don't feel safe with them in there at all. | :05:04. | :05:06.
The local Nissan dealer arranged for the car to be inspected - | :05:07. | :05:10.
but Gerwyn says it was surprisingly brief. | :05:11. | :05:14.
He shuffled underneath my car with a camera phone. | :05:15. | :05:21.
Took photographs and told me the inspection was complete. | :05:22. | :05:23.
It's just not acceptable, in my own opinion. | :05:24. | :05:26.
And when Nissan delivered their verdict, | :05:27. | :05:28.
The car was fine to use and drive to which I replied | :05:29. | :05:37.
to Nissan how can you really tell that from a camera phone? | :05:38. | :05:43.
To which they reply I had also was that our technical team has | :05:44. | :05:47.
analysed the photographs and said it is fine. | :05:48. | :05:48.
So we asked independent vehicle inspector Gareth Rees | :05:49. | :05:54.
You can see there's quite a bit of corrosion | :05:55. | :06:02.
But Gareth suspects he's not seeing the full picture. | :06:03. | :06:09.
So he uses a special camera to look inside the chassis, | :06:10. | :06:13.
something Nissan didn't seem to do. | :06:14. | :06:17.
Immediately we can see quite a bit of corrosion | :06:18. | :06:22.
and deterioration on the interior of the chasis rail. | :06:23. | :06:26.
Now that's not displaying on the exterior of the chassis rail | :06:27. | :06:29.
so it's to a far higher degree on the interior. | :06:30. | :06:33.
There's aggressive corrosion going on. | :06:34. | :06:36.
There's a weakening from the inside out. | :06:37. | :06:39.
And it's only going to be a matter of time before that chassis | :06:40. | :06:43.
section's weakened to a point where it becomes unroadworthy | :06:44. | :06:45.
To me it seems to be a problem that's inherent from manufacture | :06:46. | :06:52.
because it's common to so many vehicles that I've looked at. | :06:53. | :06:55.
Gareth's urging Nissan to dig deep during their inspections - | :06:56. | :06:58.
because the extent of the rust could be well hidden. | :06:59. | :07:03.
I don't think in my opinion that taking external photographs | :07:04. | :07:08.
of the chassis is doing credit to the problem that's existing. | :07:09. | :07:14.
I think that there's got to be a more in-depth | :07:15. | :07:16.
examination and investigation to resolve this issue. | :07:17. | :07:22.
I think Nissan should recall these vehicles. | :07:23. | :07:34.
It's dangerous and somebody's going to get hurt. | :07:35. | :07:39.
Well, we asked Nissan what they're doing to reassure | :07:40. | :07:41.
worried Navara owners - and, crucially, | :07:42. | :07:45.
will they recall cars which could be affected? | :07:46. | :07:50.
Nissan insist there isn't a "safety issue", because corrosion | :07:51. | :07:55.
is a gradual process and routine maintenance should detect any | :07:56. | :07:58.
They admit they are aware of a "relatively small" number | :07:59. | :08:04.
of older D40 Navaras experiencing chassis corrosion. | :08:05. | :08:09.
They're offering free, independent inspections | :08:10. | :08:12.
"where appropriate" and, if issues are found, | :08:13. | :08:17.
which could include repairing or replacing the vehicle. | :08:18. | :08:23.
As for Gerwyn, who we saw in the film, they say their thorough | :08:24. | :08:26.
inspection didn't find excessive corrosion - but in light | :08:27. | :08:30.
of the concerns raised by our expert, Gareth Rees, | :08:31. | :08:33.
they're happy to look at the case again - | :08:34. | :08:36.
we've put Nissan's contact details on our website. | :08:37. | :08:46.
And if there's anything you'd like us to look into, | :08:47. | :08:49.
You can also send us an email [email protected] - | :08:50. | :08:58.
The angry Thomson's customers who didn't get the luxury trip | :08:59. | :09:09.
She said, sorry, we reserve the right to change the plane. | :09:10. | :09:13.
There's no compensation. There's no refund for the seating. | :09:14. | :09:16.
You can of course cancel but you'll lose all your money. | :09:17. | :09:21.
Next, I've been looking into a heart-breaking problem | :09:22. | :09:23.
affecting more and more families across Wales. | :09:24. | :09:31.
If you're a dog lover, you'll know all about that special bond. | :09:32. | :09:36.
They really do become part of the family! | :09:37. | :09:45.
We've had little Buddy here for about a year and a half | :09:46. | :09:48.
and I cannot imagine our lives without him. | :09:49. | :09:52.
But more and more pet owners like me are having to deal with | :09:53. | :09:55.
the sudden disappearence of the pet they love. | :09:56. | :10:02.
In the past three years, dog thefts have risen | :10:03. | :10:05.
and South wales is one of the UK's hotspots for dog-napping. | :10:06. | :10:16.
Two-year-old Sherbert is a Toy Poodle Bichon Frise cross | :10:17. | :10:18.
In October he was stolen from his home in Newport, | :10:19. | :10:24.
leaving owner Tricia Scott and her family devastated. | :10:25. | :10:31.
My son was only just 18 months when we got him | :10:32. | :10:33.
We'd had him from a puppy, brand-new, if you like. | :10:34. | :10:45.
My children kind of grew up with him, | :10:46. | :10:47.
so it was like having a third child, really. | :10:48. | :10:53.
So Tricia, this was the garden then that Sherbert was taken from? | :10:54. | :10:56.
He would come out to it from that cat flap, would he? | :10:57. | :11:00.
Yes, literally let himself in and out, as and when he needed to. | :11:01. | :11:03.
So I can see fencing and that gate doesn't open, does it? | :11:04. | :11:07.
No, that gate is actually nailed shut, and there's no way | :11:08. | :11:09.
it could have been left open accidentally, | :11:10. | :11:13.
So how do you think they got in then? | :11:14. | :11:18.
Well, on the other side of this fence is a public lane. | :11:19. | :11:21.
So I believe they would have come over the top of the gate | :11:22. | :11:24.
or the top of the fence, just down into the garden. | :11:25. | :11:29.
You wouldn't think that letting your dog out briefly | :11:30. | :11:31.
would put him in danger of being stolen. | :11:32. | :11:38.
Tricia has spread the word online and put up posters. | :11:39. | :11:48.
She's also sought the help of campaigner | :11:49. | :11:50.
and fellow Newport resident, Jayne Hayes. | :11:51. | :11:54.
Jayne set up her volunteer organisation from her home | :11:55. | :11:58.
In that time, she has dealt with 84,000 cases | :11:59. | :12:03.
Around a quarter of them were stolen. | :12:04. | :12:08.
I set it up after my own dog was stolen, | :12:09. | :12:11.
so I know exactly what these people are going through. | :12:12. | :12:13.
Though I had no idea how many other people were suffering. | :12:14. | :12:16.
Up to 20-25% more calls are coming in. | :12:17. | :12:21.
And trying to find these stolen pets keeps Jayne very busy. | :12:22. | :12:31.
Do you have much success reuniting dogs with their owners? | :12:32. | :12:37.
Yes, that's why I do it - that's why we all do it. | :12:38. | :12:41.
85% of dogs we get back. We believe nothing disappears into thin air. | :12:42. | :12:46.
You've just got to keep going and going. | :12:47. | :12:48.
Jayne shows me her list of dogs currently missing in Wales. | :12:49. | :12:51.
You get a whole profile, where he went missing, pictures, | :12:52. | :13:02.
posters, how many views - 10,547 so far. | :13:03. | :13:05.
That's amazing - there's been 10,000 views on him. | :13:06. | :13:09.
Then underneath, all the sightings, what's happening, | :13:10. | :13:14.
when the owner's posting updates and other dog owners | :13:15. | :13:16.
are coming on sort of giving encouragement. | :13:17. | :13:17.
Quite often people say that's the only thing | :13:18. | :13:19.
that keeps them going, knowing that someone cares, | :13:20. | :13:22.
total strangers willing to help them. | :13:23. | :13:24.
The most valuable targets for thieves are small, | :13:25. | :13:29.
pedigree breeds like French bulldogs and Chihuahuas - | :13:30. | :13:33.
along with working dogs in rural areas. | :13:34. | :13:39.
South Wales and Gwent police recorded more than 320 dog thefts | :13:40. | :13:42.
in the last five years - but only 14 people were charged. | :13:43. | :13:50.
The punishment does not fit the crime. | :13:51. | :13:52.
They hand out a sentence as though it were a mobile phone | :13:53. | :13:55.
And until we get those levels up of punishment, | :13:56. | :14:00.
we're going to see an increase even more and more. | :14:01. | :14:02.
In desperation, Tricia offered a reward for | :14:03. | :14:04.
Sherbert's safe return - but it brought more heartache. | :14:05. | :14:11.
We had one caller, literally a few days before Christmas, | :14:12. | :14:13.
And unfortunately it turned into more sort of harassment, | :14:14. | :14:18.
so he was constantly calling Christmas Day, Boxing Day, | :14:19. | :14:20.
In the end it was from five or six different numbers | :14:21. | :14:29.
and we did have to get the police involved in it. | :14:30. | :14:31.
He was claiming he had the dog | :14:32. | :14:33.
He sent a picture, one of my pictures in the house | :14:34. | :14:38.
of the dog, and was asking me to send the money up front. | :14:39. | :14:42.
It's been four months since Sherbert was stolen - | :14:43. | :14:45.
And not being able to tell my kids what's happening, | :14:46. | :14:55.
I don't know if he's alive, or I don't know if someone's got him | :14:56. | :15:02.
and if they're looking after him or if they're not looking after him. | :15:03. | :15:06.
Well, Becky Baker from the Dogs Trust is with me - | :15:07. | :15:13.
Becky, this is a nightmare scenario for any family, | :15:14. | :15:18.
who is taking these dogs, what are they doing with them? | :15:19. | :15:22.
So unfortunately buying dogs online is a massive trade at the moment. | :15:23. | :15:25.
They're stealing dogs to put them into that trade, especially, | :15:26. | :15:27.
if they are designer breeds such as French bulldogs, | :15:28. | :15:30.
dachshunds, they are going to be fuelling that trade. | :15:31. | :15:33.
What can people do to reduce the chances | :15:34. | :15:34.
So it's always important to think about making your garden secure. | :15:35. | :15:47.
No obvious gaps in your garden, padlocks on gates, | :15:48. | :15:49.
make sure they can't climb over the fence as well. | :15:50. | :15:52.
And what about signs like this that some people have | :15:53. | :15:54.
in windows of their homes, what do you make of that? | :15:55. | :15:57.
Not ideal - you're advertising that that a dog lives there. | :15:58. | :16:03.
If they notice your car's not on the drive | :16:04. | :16:05.
or no lights on, people may use that as a target. | :16:06. | :16:08.
Microchipping is now law, it's been the law since April last year. | :16:09. | :16:15.
It's really important that whether you purchase a dog or rescue | :16:16. | :16:20.
a dog, make sure it's microchipped before you take it home. | :16:21. | :16:23.
Dogs Trust do it for free, and also your vetinerary | :16:24. | :16:25.
service in your local area will do it for a small fee, | :16:26. | :16:28.
So microchips are usually in the back of the neck but it's | :16:29. | :16:32.
important to check the shoulders as well, because they can slip. | :16:33. | :16:35.
You can see a 16 or 14-digit code on the back of the neck there. | :16:36. | :16:39.
If I put that into a database that would show all my details | :16:40. | :16:41.
Her breed, her age, so they could reunite Sansa with me. | :16:42. | :16:52.
What should you do if the worst happens and your dog is taken? | :16:53. | :17:01.
It's important to contact the police. | :17:02. | :17:07.
It's also important to contact the dog warden | :17:08. | :17:10.
and local dog rescue centres and veterinary surgeries | :17:11. | :17:12.
to see if anyone has brought them in. | :17:13. | :17:14.
Becky, thank you. Next, it's time for a news update. | :17:15. | :17:16.
Remember those faulty Hotpoint, Indesit and Creda tumble dryers | :17:17. | :17:18.
Anyone waiting for a repair had been told they could continue using them, | :17:19. | :17:25.
But Trading Standards has intervened, and now parent company | :17:26. | :17:32.
Whirlpool are telling customers to unplug them and not use them | :17:33. | :17:35.
Check out Whirlpool's website for details. | :17:36. | :17:42.
Could you sleep through a noisy smoke alarm? | :17:43. | :17:45.
Well, it seems that due to their high-pitched frequency, | :17:46. | :17:47.
Now, researchers have developed a new alarm with a lower pitch | :17:48. | :17:53.
and a woman's voice, warning that the house is on fire. | :17:54. | :17:57.
Derbyshire Fire Service are looking for 500 families | :17:58. | :17:59.
And we're often urged to switch energy suppliers | :18:00. | :18:05.
But British Gas will be rewarding its customers with | :18:06. | :18:10.
Millions of people will be offered deals and discounts for things | :18:11. | :18:16.
Next, if you're booking a trip of a lifetime, | :18:17. | :18:24.
you want to make sure every detail is planned to perfection. | :18:25. | :18:30.
But Rachel's been looking into one travel company which doesn't always | :18:31. | :18:34.
deliver the dream it describes in the brochures. | :18:35. | :18:41.
Air travel has changed quite a bit over the years. | :18:42. | :18:45.
As propellers made way for jet engines, | :18:46. | :18:47.
planes became larger, faster and altogether more comfortable. | :18:48. | :18:55.
Now let's face it, if you're flying halfway around the world on holiday, | :18:56. | :18:58.
you want that journey to be as relaxing as possible. | :18:59. | :19:02.
And if you want to go that extra air mile, | :19:03. | :19:04.
you might even consider booking a seat | :19:05. | :19:07.
on the latest luxury airliner. | :19:08. | :19:10.
Like this one - the Thomson 787 Dreamliner. | :19:11. | :19:16.
The company boasts it's the most stylish way to fly. | :19:17. | :19:19.
Well, it's spacious - with more legroom and head room. | :19:20. | :19:35.
It's got mood lighting that mimics dawn and dusk. | :19:36. | :19:36.
And it even has lower cabin pressure clock, apparently. | :19:37. | :19:42.
so more oxygen can be absorbed into your blood. | :19:43. | :19:45.
It certainly appealed to Garth and Sandra Caswell | :19:46. | :19:54.
Living just a mile from Cardiff airport, | :19:55. | :19:58.
they wanted to book the trip of a lifetime. | :19:59. | :20:05.
Sandra and I had always looked forward to using | :20:06. | :20:07.
our retirement to do, like most people, certain things. | :20:08. | :20:09.
And one of those was travelling on perhaps long haul flights. | :20:10. | :20:15.
For years, Sandra has suffered from chronic pain in her hips - | :20:16. | :20:23.
and wouldn't be able to spend nine hours on a plane, | :20:24. | :20:26.
So Garth popped into a Thomson travel agent for some advice | :20:27. | :20:34.
So you know the cruise we've just booked? | :20:35. | :20:37.
It was a two week Caribbean cruise, costing ?5,000. | :20:38. | :20:46.
They'd be flying from Cardiff airport - on the Dreamliner. | :20:47. | :20:49.
What they've said is, it's definitely a Dreamliner. | :20:50. | :20:55.
It's got all the comfy seats, | :20:56. | :20:57.
so you won't have to worry about your hip. | :20:58. | :21:00.
This lady confirmed it's true, look at the brochure, | :21:01. | :21:03.
And it was that that allowed us to book the flight. | :21:04. | :21:08.
So it seemed the Caswells' dream of jetting off | :21:09. | :21:14.
on a Caribbean adventure was finally taking flight. | :21:15. | :21:18.
But just a few days before departure, | :21:19. | :21:20.
Garth phoned the company to double-check | :21:21. | :21:30.
a few details about the holiday and the flight. | :21:31. | :21:34.
When I first asked the question about the Dreamliner, she hesitated. | :21:35. | :21:37.
And that was my first clue that something might be wrong. | :21:38. | :21:40.
She came back and apologised and said, | :21:41. | :21:42.
well actually, it was never going to be a Dreamliner. | :21:43. | :21:44.
She said, Sorry, we reserve the right to change the plane. | :21:45. | :21:47.
You can of course cancel but you'll lose all your money. | :21:48. | :21:52.
this was our dream holiday and suddenly it was shattered. | :21:53. | :22:00.
Unfortunately, Garth and Sandra aren't the only Thomson customers | :22:01. | :22:07.
who've had Dreamliner nightmares. | :22:08. | :22:12.
Jason Edwards from Aberdare paid extra to fly from Manchester | :22:13. | :22:14.
airport, just so his family could have the Dreamliner experience | :22:15. | :22:16.
But the aircraft wasn't available on the way out | :22:17. | :22:20.
And spare a thought for Rebekah Ings from Narberth in Pembrokeshire. | :22:21. | :22:28.
Her dad had paid for the whole family to fly off to Florida, | :22:29. | :22:31.
on a holiday that cost more than ?12,000. | :22:32. | :22:33.
But when they all arrived at Gatwick, guess what? | :22:34. | :22:36.
In Cardiff, Vicky Ward only booked her cruise around | :22:37. | :22:44.
the Persian Gulf with Thomson because the Dreamliner came as part | :22:45. | :22:46.
My partner and I recently got engaged so it was going to be | :22:47. | :23:01.
a lovely holiday, the two of us, first time abroad together. | :23:02. | :23:03.
I was very disappointed. there and back on a 767. | :23:04. | :23:13.
It was just not what we thought it was going to be. | :23:14. | :23:16.
At one point I almost burst into tears. | :23:17. | :23:20.
It's the same story, over and over again. | :23:21. | :23:23.
Thomson brochures - and staff - seem to promise | :23:24. | :23:25.
But tucked away in the small print, | :23:26. | :23:33.
there's a get-out clause, which says... | :23:34. | :23:35.
"Occasionally it may be necessary to change the aircraft type". | :23:36. | :23:37.
And the customers we've spoken to insist that wasn't made clear. | :23:38. | :23:50.
Our holiday wasn't what it was supposed to be. | :23:51. | :23:52.
That it was going to start and finish with something | :23:53. | :23:55.
It left a nasty taste in our mouth. | :23:56. | :24:00.
And for me personally I'd always wanted to go on such a plane. | :24:01. | :24:04.
And I feel betrayed by Thomson for that reason. | :24:05. | :24:09.
they're sorry for any about this and they say | :24:10. | :24:15.
"misunderstanding and disappointment". | :24:16. | :24:16.
They insist they sometimes have to change their "flying schedule", | :24:17. | :24:19.
And they say their terms and conditions state | :24:20. | :24:24.
that the availability of certain aircraft is never 100% guaranteed. | :24:25. | :24:31.
So I'm afraid they won't be paying out. | :24:32. | :24:34.
Now if you're in the market for a new motor, you may | :24:35. | :24:37.
want to check out its history before you buy. | :24:38. | :24:42.
But one viewer from Aberdare wasn't too impressed | :24:43. | :24:44.
with the "deal" on offer at his local garage. | :24:45. | :24:51.
When Evan Macier spotted a Ford Focus he liked online, | :24:52. | :24:56.
he headed to Evans Halshaw in Treforest to take a closer look. | :24:57. | :25:01.
While I was waiting for the salesman to become available I was just | :25:02. | :25:04.
having a look at some of the other cars and then that's when I noticed | :25:05. | :25:08.
The notice on the windscreen advertised | :25:09. | :25:13.
a "vehicle administration fee" on top of the price of the car. | :25:14. | :25:18.
It said for ?99 they would tax the car, register the car, | :25:19. | :25:20.
but also carry out checks for you to make sure | :25:21. | :25:23.
there's no outstanding finance, the car wasn't stolen | :25:24. | :25:25.
and it wasn't involved in an accident. | :25:26. | :25:30.
But charging for these checks set alarm bells ringing for Evan - | :25:31. | :25:33.
who was once Wales' youngest magistrate! | :25:34. | :25:34.
I asked him, were any of the cars stolen - he said no. | :25:35. | :25:43.
I said have of these cars had outstanding finance - | :25:44. | :25:45.
I said so what's the ?99 fee for, and he goes, it's like an insurance. | :25:46. | :25:50.
That seemed a bit strange to me because surely | :25:51. | :25:53.
if you've done your checks correctly, that shouldn't happen. | :25:54. | :26:00.
the admin fee was "optional" - eye" noticed | :26:01. | :26:03.
but he says the salesman didn't agree! | :26:04. | :26:05.
He told me it was a compulsory thing. | :26:06. | :26:07.
So for them to charge this fee which for me was unjustified, | :26:08. | :26:10.
So Evan, I take it you didn't buy the car? | :26:11. | :26:14.
Well, we asked Evans Halshaw about this. | :26:15. | :26:20.
They insist their ?99 vehicle administration fee is optional. | :26:21. | :26:25.
They're investigating why our viewer Evan was told that it's compulsory | :26:26. | :26:28.
and say they'll carry out extra staff training if it's needed. | :26:29. | :26:32.
Well, motoring expert Tim Shallcross is with me. | :26:33. | :26:33.
but in my view it's definitely sharp practice. | :26:34. | :26:40.
The price on the windscreen should be the price you pay. | :26:41. | :26:44.
They're trying to charge you over some flimsy excuse over things | :26:45. | :26:49.
they would do for their own peace of mind like checking | :26:50. | :26:51.
no outstanding finance or checking the car hasn't been stolen. | :26:52. | :26:54.
They do that before they put it on the forecourt. | :26:55. | :26:56.
Registering the sale with the DVLA, that means putting a form | :26:57. | :26:59.
in an envelope and putting it in a letterbox. | :27:00. | :27:01.
They've got to do it by law, they're trying to charge you for it. | :27:02. | :27:04.
It takes ten seconds and you can do it online. | :27:05. | :27:08.
Yes, these are all checks we can do ourselves. | :27:09. | :27:10.
Yeah, you can check the entire MOT history of the car from a government | :27:11. | :27:13.
And if you do want to do a vehicle history check, which is important, | :27:14. | :27:18.
you can get those checks between ?10 and ?30. | :27:19. | :27:20.
And thanks to technology, a lot of these checks you can do | :27:21. | :27:25.
on your mobile phone yourself on the garage forecourt. | :27:26. | :27:29.
Absolutely. There are apps all over the place. | :27:30. | :27:31.
Standing on the forecourt, enter the registration | :27:32. | :27:32.
number and it'll tell you the complete history. | :27:33. | :27:34.
You pay a small charge for that, but it's well worth it | :27:35. | :27:37.
Brilliant, Tim, thank you so much. | :27:38. | :27:42.
And that's it for this week - but if you need our help | :27:43. | :27:45.
with anything at all, get in touch! | :27:46. | :27:47.
why did Clifford send thousands of pounds worth of music vouchers | :27:48. | :27:55.
They're very clever - you do feel as though you've been | :27:56. | :28:01.
hypnotised by them and you're completely | :28:02. | :28:03.
We'll see you at the same time next Monday. | :28:04. | :28:13. |
