Today, and overseas visitor given me to -- given the of welcome he will | :00:21. | :00:24.
never forget. I did not know what number to call. And taking heroin | :00:25. | :00:30.
off the streets. The officers are looking for drugs and evidence of | :00:31. | :00:36.
conspiracy to supply. You are watching Crimewatch Roadshow. | :00:37. | :00:53.
Hello and welcome. It might be our last day of the series, but our work | :00:54. | :01:01.
is not quite finished. Stay with us and help get criminals off the | :01:02. | :01:04.
streets. Also coming up this morning, a hard-working shopkeeper | :01:05. | :01:09.
finds herself in the line of fire. Had it not been an air weapon and it | :01:10. | :01:15.
was a real gun, she would have been killed by that man. A couple who | :01:16. | :01:22.
returned to the UK to escape recession hit Spain find themselves | :01:23. | :01:27.
homeless. I cannot believe someone takes something so big. And Sian is | :01:28. | :01:31.
with Surrey Police spending the final morning of the series in the | :01:32. | :01:37.
village of Merstham. With the school holidays upon us, | :01:38. | :01:42.
many of us will be heading off on our travels. Security can be an | :01:43. | :01:46.
issue. We will have plenty of advice to keep you crime free. | :01:47. | :01:50.
First, we need to find a robber who took advantage of a man's good | :01:51. | :01:58.
nature. He was trying to be a nice man helping these people out. Did | :01:59. | :02:04.
not know what I should do. I guess they did not think he would fight | :02:05. | :02:12.
back. Jonathan had recently arrived in London from South Africa to start | :02:13. | :02:19.
a new job. I was lucky enough that my company offered me a transfer to | :02:20. | :02:25.
spend a few years here, just to see what life was like in a different | :02:26. | :02:30.
city. Jonathan lapped at the chance and whilst he was getting settled he | :02:31. | :02:37.
was staying with friends in Epsom. On the 19th of December last year, | :02:38. | :02:43.
Jonathan got off a train at Epsom Station at APM and began the short | :02:44. | :02:49.
walk back to his friend's house. -- at 8pm. I had done the route twice a | :02:50. | :02:57.
day for about two months. I felt the route was safe. I always listen to | :02:58. | :03:06.
music. Pictured here on CCTV, Jonathan is seen walking towards | :03:07. | :03:18.
Lane. He did not know he was being followed by two men. One of the men | :03:19. | :03:23.
asked him for directions. I was a bit startled. But there was nothing | :03:24. | :03:29.
untoward about him and I did not have any suspicions when he started | :03:30. | :03:34.
speaking to me. I said to him I was new to the area. Appointed in the | :03:35. | :03:41.
general vicinity I thought Epsom Downs was in. Despite his lack of | :03:42. | :03:46.
local knowledge, the man persisted. I felt was getting a bit much. I | :03:47. | :03:53.
thought the best option was to help him with directions and then move | :03:54. | :03:56.
on. At that point, I got out my phone and said I could look for | :03:57. | :04:02.
directions for him. Whilst he was looking at his phone, a second man | :04:03. | :04:10.
appeared behind him. He hit me, it was totally unexpected. I was dazed | :04:11. | :04:15.
and confused. One I came to, I was on my hands and knees and they were | :04:16. | :04:20.
trying to get my bag off my back. By adrenaline was surging. I was | :04:21. | :04:26.
thinking, put up as much of a fight as possible, make as much noise, try | :04:27. | :04:32.
to make it as difficult as possible for them. Jonathan's phone and | :04:33. | :04:37.
headphones landed on the floor. I stood up. I was making it a bit too | :04:38. | :04:44.
difficult for them. Luckily, Jonathan managed to grab his phone. | :04:45. | :04:49.
The attackers snatched the headphones and ran off towards the | :04:50. | :04:56.
station. I knew I had to get hold of the emergency services but I did not | :04:57. | :05:01.
know what the number was to call. I had to phone my friends and they | :05:02. | :05:09.
gave me the right number. I was just marked. | :05:10. | :05:13.
I was quite taken aback by being attacked in this way. Considering I | :05:14. | :05:20.
am coming from South Africa which has quite a bad reputation for crime | :05:21. | :05:28.
and violence. The injuries he received were cuts and bruises to | :05:29. | :05:31.
the face. A nasty punch to the cheek. A bloody nose. Cuts and | :05:32. | :05:40.
scratches to his hands. The problem is when people are wearing | :05:41. | :05:42.
headphones is that it gives a signal that you might be valuable to them. | :05:43. | :05:49.
What upsets me is that they were willing to really hurt me and cause | :05:50. | :05:56.
a lot of pain just for a set of earphones that are not worth that | :05:57. | :06:00.
much. Jonathan is such a nice fellow. He was trying to be nice. | :06:01. | :06:06.
This was a ruse by them to make him stop to initiate the attack. They | :06:07. | :06:09.
were preying on my good nature of trying to help someone out. This | :06:10. | :06:16.
really is a nasty attack. Jonathan was just trying to give directions. | :06:17. | :06:22.
DC Colin Snell is with me. What do you know about the attackers? | :06:23. | :06:26.
Jonathan gave us a good description of the main attacker. We produced an | :06:27. | :06:35.
e-fit. A black man, mid-22 Mac to early 30s, short, 5ft numeric tutor | :06:36. | :06:51.
5ft 6. -- 5ft 2 up to 5ft 6. The offenders were picked up on the | :06:52. | :06:57.
town's CCTV. They work monitored because they were acting | :06:58. | :07:01.
suspiciously. They have been captured on CCTV. It shows their | :07:02. | :07:06.
clothing and the second offender's distinctive jacket. They were | :07:07. | :07:10.
behaving oddly. The people monitoring the cameras picked that | :07:11. | :07:13.
up. That is correct. They were recorded. You want to catch these | :07:14. | :07:19.
people. You are afraid they will strike again. Jonathan is a lovely | :07:20. | :07:27.
fellow and he was acting as a good Samaritan. We need to get details of | :07:28. | :07:32.
who they are so we can arrest them and deal with the investigation. If | :07:33. | :07:36.
you can help, please do get in touch. | :07:37. | :07:40.
Time to take a look at a bunch of crooks who committed their crimes on | :07:41. | :07:45.
camera. Will you recognise anyone? This crime is no joke. Although it | :07:46. | :07:50.
did happen on the 1st of April of last year. A pub in Manchester is | :07:51. | :07:53.
serving bank holiday punters. A man with a backpack goes upstairs. He | :07:54. | :08:01.
enters a code on a keypad to get into the staff area. He heads to the | :08:02. | :08:05.
office where cash is stored in the say. He is stored in the say. Him in | :08:06. | :08:18.
the act. -- in the safe. The manager tries to grab a screwdriver. He | :08:19. | :08:24.
escapes empty-handed. A cyclist cruises up and down a | :08:25. | :08:28.
leafy street in the London borough of Southwark. Here comes his pal. He | :08:29. | :08:35.
has spotted an opportunity to do a quick food shop through a school | :08:36. | :08:38.
door that has been left open. The rider hangs around outside while his | :08:39. | :08:44.
mate in the baseball cap makes three trips to steal armfuls of food and | :08:45. | :08:52.
drink worth ?850. Who is this greedy fellow and his cyclist charm? -- | :08:53. | :09:01.
charm. Check out the couple in the dark glasses walking into this | :09:02. | :09:05.
jewellers. They saunter to the back of the shop where they spot a safe | :09:06. | :09:12.
that happens to be open. Police believe the woman in the white shirt | :09:13. | :09:15.
is shielding the man as he reaches into the safe and removes | :09:16. | :09:21.
valuables. An unsuspecting staff member approaches them and after a | :09:22. | :09:25.
short conversation he walks off. Officers think the man takes more | :09:26. | :09:28.
items from the safe before putting them into the woman's black bag. She | :09:29. | :09:34.
makes her excuses and walks coolly out of the store with valuables | :09:35. | :09:39.
worth more than 20 grand. The man follows her moments later. Recognise | :09:40. | :09:44.
these two? Be a treasure and give us a ring. If you can name any of that | :09:45. | :09:58.
lot, call us or send a text. Next, police in Surrey have been on a | :09:59. | :10:01.
mission to target criminals involved in the drug trade. | :10:02. | :10:07.
Police! It is an early start at Surrey's police HQ. More than 120 | :10:08. | :10:20.
officers are preparing for one of the force's a guest operations to | :10:21. | :10:27.
tackle a web of drug-related crime. -- biggest operations. We are going | :10:28. | :10:32.
to take bad people of the street in a professional way. The object is to | :10:33. | :10:39.
perform nine warrants at various premises across Surrey and also into | :10:40. | :10:45.
Hampshire. One address in London. Operation Leek is targeting the drug | :10:46. | :10:49.
dealers and those who commit crimes like burglary and robbery to fund | :10:50. | :10:54.
their drug habits. The officers will look for drugs and evidence of | :10:55. | :10:57.
conspiracy to supply Class A drugs and Class B drugs. There will be | :10:58. | :11:04.
rapid entry at a number of properties. We need to get in | :11:05. | :11:09.
quickly to secure the evidence. 6am and these criminals have just had a | :11:10. | :11:14.
rude awakening. Police are acting on a tip-off that these brothers have | :11:15. | :11:18.
been selling heroin. They are not the only ones getting an early | :11:19. | :11:23.
morning call. Elsewhere, other officers are making simultaneous | :11:24. | :11:28.
raids. This woman has been arrested on suspicion of supplying Class A | :11:29. | :11:42.
drugs. Hello. The raids are done and dusted. Police go from door to door | :11:43. | :11:45.
explaining what has been happening. We are the local guys. We will be | :11:46. | :11:53.
paying attention... It is an opportunity to reassure the local | :11:54. | :11:59.
community. Officers note the impact drugs related crime can have on | :12:00. | :12:03.
their lies. Why should anyone have to tolerate crime? Some of the | :12:04. | :12:10.
effects can be noise complaints -- the impact on their lives. The | :12:11. | :12:15.
impact on the community is heartbreaking at times. We will do | :12:16. | :12:20.
something about it. Two weeks later, it is time for the second phase of | :12:21. | :12:25.
Operation Leek. They have already raided those suspected of dealing | :12:26. | :12:31.
drugs. Now it is the turn of those who have committed burglary or | :12:32. | :12:39.
handle stolen goods. The subject of the warrant is in custody. We will | :12:40. | :12:47.
be back to the other houses again. It is all the time, keeping the | :12:48. | :12:52.
momentum up. Hitting them all the time. Across the whole operation, | :12:53. | :12:59.
Surrey Police made a total of 41 arrests. During a search of the | :13:00. | :13:06.
brothers' property, police recovered 28 grams of heroin with a street | :13:07. | :13:11.
value of around ?800. One brother was sentenced to three years and | :13:12. | :13:15.
four months for seven counts of supplying heroin. His younger | :13:16. | :13:19.
brother was handed a six-year sentence, also for the supply of | :13:20. | :13:26.
heroin. The two brothers who were led away were among six people | :13:27. | :13:32.
jailed for a total of 23 years as a result of this operation. Seven | :13:33. | :13:36.
others were given non-custodial sentences. That is talk to | :13:37. | :13:39.
Superintendent Duncan Greenhalgh about this. Quite a result. We are | :13:40. | :13:44.
really happy. Over 40 people arrested. That is active drug | :13:45. | :13:53.
dealers, thieves, taken off the streets. The intelligence came from | :13:54. | :13:57.
the community, the people affected by the crimes. Also people who are | :13:58. | :14:04.
stealing to fund their habits. Let us take a look at this. An array of | :14:05. | :14:10.
stuff you have brought along. This is a fraction. At headquarters, we | :14:11. | :14:14.
have more. There is everything you can think of. Pedal cycles, even two | :14:15. | :14:21.
violins. Power Tools. Electrical items. Weapons over year. This is | :14:22. | :14:29.
showing us that people will steal to fund a drugs habit -- weapons over | :14:30. | :14:35.
here. If we go up close to some of these items, some taken from | :14:36. | :14:40.
workshops or garden sheds, those are menacing looking items, weapons. Let | :14:41. | :14:45.
us take a look here. Right in front of us are all of these laptops and | :14:46. | :14:51.
gadgets. Just a fraction. This is really attractive stuff to thieves. | :14:52. | :14:57.
Portable high-value stuff. We have got a shipping container at our | :14:58. | :14:59.
headquarters which is crammed with this kind of stuff. Sat nows. What | :15:00. | :15:14.
happens to it all now? We will try and reunite all of the property with | :15:15. | :15:19.
its owners. If we cannot do that, sadly some of the stuff, we don't | :15:20. | :15:23.
know where it has come from, but we know it is stolen. We will auction | :15:24. | :15:28.
it and that money we reinvest in other operations like this. Good | :15:29. | :15:38.
luck. The incredibly rare Burmese Bantam hens at the centre of a crime | :15:39. | :15:44.
wave. The jewel thief who puts itself in | :15:45. | :15:50.
the frame with a Photofit. And if you are feeling sorry for | :15:51. | :15:54.
Andy Murray at Wimbledon, spare a thought for these guys who have lost | :15:55. | :16:02.
their clubhouse is because of an arsonist. | :16:03. | :16:04.
Police in Camden want your help identifying a man in connection with | :16:05. | :16:09.
a theft from a blind woman. In December last year, the woman was | :16:10. | :16:12.
befriended by a man who offered to carry his shopping home. Returned to | :16:13. | :16:17.
her flat the next day and her handbag containing more than 100 | :16:18. | :16:21.
pounds was stolen. Reese would like to speak to this man seen on a bus | :16:22. | :16:25.
in the Camden Road area. Do you recognise him? -- police. The number | :16:26. | :16:34.
is on the screen. We saw those stolen goods seized as | :16:35. | :16:40.
a result of Operation Leek. The challenge is sometimes to reunite | :16:41. | :16:42.
these goods with their rightful owners. Superintendent Chris Raymer | :16:43. | :16:45.
can tell us more, owners. Superintendent Chris Raymer | :16:46. | :16:50.
what should we do if we want to get our stuff back if it does get | :16:51. | :16:53.
stolen? We recommend a website called | :16:54. | :17:01.
immobilise. It is a modem -- it is a website free to use and it is safe | :17:02. | :17:06.
and secure and they can list their property, recording serial numbers, | :17:07. | :17:10.
except. If that property stolen, they can flag that is stolen goods | :17:11. | :17:15.
and when we conduct chat on the street or if we recover property, we | :17:16. | :17:21.
can identify it is stolen -- conduct checks. | :17:22. | :17:25.
What if somebody is trying to sell the stuff? Second-hand shops now use | :17:26. | :17:32.
this website and they will check the register and identify if something | :17:33. | :17:35.
is stolen and we can get the property back to the owners. And you | :17:36. | :17:39.
have had a recent success. There was a burglary in June in Walton on | :17:40. | :17:49.
Thames between 9:30am and 11am and by 1230, somebody. By police with a | :17:50. | :17:56.
suitcase full of stolen goods. -- was stopped by police. It flagged up | :17:57. | :18:02.
as being linked to this individual in custody and he has been charged | :18:03. | :18:07.
and prosecuted. There are a number of items here and | :18:08. | :18:13.
you need to reunite these with their rightful owners, tell us the story. | :18:14. | :18:18.
These are items recovered in relation to another burglary. The | :18:19. | :18:21.
individual has been prosecuted for that burglary but when he was | :18:22. | :18:27.
arrested and the house was searched, these items were found in his vacuum | :18:28. | :18:32.
cleaner. We have not identified who they belong to and we are hopeful | :18:33. | :18:36.
when people see these, they might ring a bell and they will let us | :18:37. | :18:42.
know who they might belong to. There are some pretty distinctive | :18:43. | :18:45.
pieces. You know what to do if you do think they do belong to you. You | :18:46. | :18:51.
can also go on to the police website. | :18:52. | :18:57.
Next up, the thieves that took everything including the kitchen | :18:58. | :18:59.
sink. For decades, Barry and his wife | :19:00. | :19:06.
Henrietta lived the Spanish dream. Life in the sun and a thriving | :19:07. | :19:10.
property development business. About 35 years ago, we wanted | :19:11. | :19:13.
somewhere we could holiday in the winter. When we went, we decided we | :19:14. | :19:20.
liked it so much we decided to stay there and eventually we set up a | :19:21. | :19:21.
business. But it came to an end when Spain's | :19:22. | :19:26.
property market crashed. The recession really hit and when it | :19:27. | :19:32.
hit, it hit bad. The market just froze. There was just no buyers, no | :19:33. | :19:40.
development work, nothing. So when the couple were offered the | :19:41. | :19:43.
opportunity to come back to Britain to work, they jumped at the chance. | :19:44. | :19:48.
Otherwise we would have had no income whatsoever. It was not a step | :19:49. | :19:52.
backwards, we were positive because we knew we were guaranteed 12 months | :19:53. | :19:56.
of work. The project was a barn conversion in | :19:57. | :20:02.
Surrey. The couple still had their home in Spain so while they were in | :20:03. | :20:06.
the UK, they bought a caravan to live on site. | :20:07. | :20:11.
It was a home for EU, it was like a small apartment and it had | :20:12. | :20:17.
everything -- a home for a year. These modern caravans have luxuries | :20:18. | :20:23.
so it was not as if we were camping. It is a luxury caravan. | :20:24. | :20:27.
Six weeks ago, the couple decided to go back to Spain, leaving the | :20:28. | :20:32.
caravan locked up on a friend's driveway. They thought it was safe. | :20:33. | :20:48.
But they were wrong. We had a phone call from the owners of the house, | :20:49. | :20:58.
saying they were very, very shocked and surprised and disturbed that our | :20:59. | :21:02.
caravan had been taken from their driveway. | :21:03. | :21:08.
I said straightaway, you are joking! I could not believe it. I still | :21:09. | :21:12.
cannot believe that somebody would come on private property and take | :21:13. | :21:15.
something so big. Police say whoever stole the caravan | :21:16. | :21:20.
knew exactly what they were doing. The caravan was secure, secured by a | :21:21. | :21:27.
wheel clamp, so they came prepared. They are expert at towing caravans. | :21:28. | :21:32.
After the bad news about their ?10,000 caravan being stolen, the | :21:33. | :21:37.
couple began to realise just how many of their belongings had been | :21:38. | :21:39.
inside. The biggest loss we have got is our | :21:40. | :21:45.
clothing, documentation, tax papers, stuff like that. They are in | :21:46. | :21:52.
a sense retrievable. Initially, you do not miss everything but as the | :21:53. | :21:58.
days go on, you think, I need that. It was in the caravan. Everything | :21:59. | :22:03.
was in the caravan, obviously. Had it been the empty caravan, that | :22:04. | :22:08.
would be one thing. To lose the whole lot and everything we had been | :22:09. | :22:11.
using over 12 months was quite a shock. | :22:12. | :22:17.
Very upsetting for that couple is virtually everything was inside that | :22:18. | :22:23.
caravan. Paul, to many people, one caravan looks very much like another | :22:24. | :22:28.
but this was distinctive. It was a Wyoming 2007 series five | :22:29. | :22:33.
caravan with notable adaptions. The rear window on the caravan were | :22:34. | :22:38.
frosted instead of clear. And it had a registration plate. On | :22:39. | :22:45.
the day of the theft, it was... It is most likely discarded now but | :22:46. | :22:49.
it was on the caravan on the day of the theft. | :22:50. | :22:52.
Thank you. Caravans are very expensive and that makes them a | :22:53. | :22:57.
target for thieves so let's find out how to protect them with Sean | :22:58. | :23:02.
Bailey. Tell us about the registration scheme. | :23:03. | :23:06.
The central registration and identification scheme, it is | :23:07. | :23:12.
registered against yourself as the owner. You have a registration | :23:13. | :23:20.
document you can carry with you. What else can you do to protect your | :23:21. | :23:23.
caravan? The best thing before you buy the | :23:24. | :23:28.
caravan is to carry out a Cris check for history. After buying it, in | :23:29. | :23:35.
Short, check for security, and the Cris kit which comes with items like | :23:36. | :23:39.
microdots. Tell is about microdots, how do they | :23:40. | :23:42.
work? You get an applicator like this full | :23:43. | :23:51.
of microdots, 500 in a pack with the VIN number of your caravan. Painted | :23:52. | :23:56.
over any part of the caravan not easily removed and they show up with | :23:57. | :24:00.
ultraviolet light by police and they can look under a microscope to show | :24:01. | :24:05.
the real VIN number. What about that gadget, how does | :24:06. | :24:08.
that work? This scanner, every caravan since | :24:09. | :24:14.
1992 in the UK has been fitted with a chip. And it has information. | :24:15. | :24:21.
Police scan the caravan and they can see the real VIN number regarded of | :24:22. | :24:27.
what the thieves have attempted to do. | :24:28. | :24:31.
Plenty of advice and I hope it is useful. | :24:32. | :24:35.
Now it's time to have a look at today's Wanted Faces. | :24:36. | :24:40.
We start with this man, Ashley John Entwistle. The 30 year old was | :24:41. | :24:43.
jailed for an attack on a taxi driver in 2002 and released early on | :24:44. | :24:46.
licence. He has failed to stick to the conditions of his release and is | :24:47. | :24:49.
now wanted back in jail. Entwistle has links across Bolton | :24:50. | :24:52.
and is known to be violent, so if you do see him, just call 999. | :24:53. | :24:55.
Next, do you recognise this man, Timothy Vincent O'Leary? | :24:56. | :24:58.
The 59 year old was serving a life sentence, but failed to return to | :24:59. | :25:01.
Ford Open prison after a day release, and is now on the run. | :25:02. | :25:04.
O'Leary has links to the West Midlands, Warwickshire, | :25:05. | :25:06.
Leicestershire, London and Cork in Ireland. | :25:07. | :25:07.
He also uses the name Timothy McCarthy. | :25:08. | :25:12.
Next up, Dion Peter Lotriet. The 46 year old was charged with | :25:13. | :25:16.
fraud by false representation, but didn't turn up in court. It followed | :25:17. | :25:19.
an incident in Salisbury where a 77-year-old woman was promised | :25:20. | :25:21.
building work would be completed, and driven to a bank to withdraw | :25:22. | :25:26.
money to pay for it. She was then abandoned and the work never carried | :25:27. | :25:30.
out. Lotriet was born in Zimbabwe and now has links to Blackpool and | :25:31. | :25:35.
London. He has numerous tattoos, including a heart outline on his | :25:36. | :25:39.
left wrist and a Celtic band on his left arm. | :25:40. | :25:45.
And finally for this week, and the series, is this man, 39-year-old | :25:46. | :25:49.
Rafal Filonowicz. He was charged with possession with | :25:50. | :25:52.
intent to supply amphetamines and was due to appear in court, but he | :25:53. | :25:54.
never turned up. He has links across London, but | :25:55. | :25:58.
officers want your help in finding out where he is now. | :25:59. | :26:03.
If you recognise any of these men, make sure you pick up the phone. You | :26:04. | :26:07.
can call us on 08000 468999. Calls are free from most landlines. Some | :26:08. | :26:10.
network and mobile operators will charge for these calls. Or you can | :26:11. | :26:15.
text us on 63399. Text CW, space, and then your message. And that | :26:16. | :26:19.
space is really important. If you don't put it in, your message won't | :26:20. | :26:22.
get through to us. Texts will be charged at your standard message | :26:23. | :26:24.
rate. Of course, you can e-mail us too. | :26:25. | :26:26.
The address [email protected]. The address [email protected]. | :26:27. | :26:37.
Criminals here in Surrey have been targeting people who put their faith | :26:38. | :26:42.
in the police. Nasty incidents here. Detective Inspector Richard | :26:43. | :26:46.
Haycock can tell us what has been happening. | :26:47. | :26:50.
People are targeting elderly and vulnerable residents, going to doors | :26:51. | :26:55.
pretending to be police officers, producing fake warrant and ID cards, | :26:56. | :26:59.
telling a story to get into people's houses. Distracting the | :27:00. | :27:05.
resident inside the house while stealing their property. | :27:06. | :27:08.
How many cases have you had? Six cases since the beginning of May | :27:09. | :27:14.
so it is a serious concern. Some cases particularly upsetting | :27:15. | :27:17.
because they have been targeting honourable people, there is one case | :27:18. | :27:21.
in particular. The victim was partially sighted | :27:22. | :27:24.
which made her more vulnerable than most, so a despicable crime. They | :27:25. | :27:30.
got into her house and stole her money and escaped. | :27:31. | :27:34.
They dressing up as police officers? We believe they are wearing | :27:35. | :27:38.
plainclothes but reducing fake cards to convince people they are police | :27:39. | :27:42.
officers. People are trusting and let them in. | :27:43. | :27:46.
What is the advice to people, what should they ask for? | :27:47. | :27:50.
If you have any doubt, do not let somebody into your house, do call | :27:51. | :27:53.
your local police on the national number, 101. It worried card will | :27:54. | :28:00.
clearly say police, it will have a photograph, and the force they are | :28:01. | :28:06.
from -- a warrant card. In Surrey, we have the crest. We also carry a | :28:07. | :28:12.
Braille strip for people who are partially sighted or blind to assist | :28:13. | :28:15.
them. That is really good advice, thank | :28:16. | :28:18.
you. The next appeal is for a robber who | :28:19. | :28:25.
left a shopkeeper terrified. I told him, don't do anything, I | :28:26. | :28:32.
will give the money. Suddenly, he shot me. | :28:33. | :28:37.
The level of violence used was unprecedented. | :28:38. | :28:46.
For the last seven years, Jenny has been running a shop with her | :28:47. | :28:50.
husband, open from morning till night, the hours are long but it is | :28:51. | :28:54.
a job she enjoys. This kind of right to speak to | :28:55. | :29:01.
people, it is relaxing as well. Jenny was getting to the end of her | :29:02. | :29:05.
shift on a Thursday night in February. | :29:06. | :29:06.
Jenny was getting to the end of her shift on She made the most of a | :29:07. | :29:12.
quiet moment by catching on -- catching up with her sister on the | :29:13. | :29:16.
phone. But somebody was watching and waiting outside the shop. | :29:17. | :29:22.
A man walked into the shop and went up to the till. He took a gun out of | :29:23. | :29:29.
his top pocket and he pointed it straight at Jenny. | :29:30. | :29:34.
Open the tell, but the money in the bag! | :29:35. | :29:37.
He just shouted things. But the money in the bag. | :29:38. | :29:41.
Police now know the robber was carrying a pellet gun. But at the | :29:42. | :29:46.
time, Jenny thought it was real. Shaking, panic. I cannot even speak | :29:47. | :29:53.
anything. So my mind is not working. I don't know what to do. | :29:54. | :29:59.
He kept repeating it, give me the money from the till, money now! It | :30:00. | :30:07.
excavated extremely quickly. -- escalated. Then the armed robber | :30:08. | :30:10.
does the unthinkable. Suddenly, he shot me. Had it not been an air | :30:11. | :30:17.
weapon and it was a real gun, she would have died, she would have been | :30:18. | :30:20.
killed by that man. The pellets hit her in the neck. | :30:21. | :30:26.
Terrified, she tries to protect herself by crouching behind the | :30:27. | :30:28.
counter. I told him, I want to do anything, I | :30:29. | :30:32.
won't call anybody, I will give the money. | :30:33. | :30:36.
The robber becomes increasingly impatient and fires the gun once | :30:37. | :30:42.
again. When I took it, I knew it was bleeding. Frustrated, he lashes out. | :30:43. | :30:51.
He just pushed the screen so that is why the power is off. That is why I | :30:52. | :30:57.
could not open the till to give the money. Undeterred, the robber makes | :30:58. | :31:02.
a grab for the till drawer, ripping the cable free before he makes his | :31:03. | :31:09.
getaway. Whilst this terrifying ordeal was taking place, Jenny's | :31:10. | :31:14.
spend was upstairs looking after their two young children, oblivious. | :31:15. | :31:27.
happening. I just found out something was wrong, she was | :31:28. | :31:30.
bleeding. I called the ambulance. Then my wife and daughter were | :31:31. | :31:35.
crying. Waited for the police to come. This was a very serious | :31:36. | :31:42.
incident. The level of violence used was unprecedented. We are desperate | :31:43. | :31:48.
to catch this man. He is very dangerous and poses a great risk to | :31:49. | :31:52.
the public. Whilst she was once happy to spend time in the shop | :31:53. | :31:58.
socialising with customers, Jenny now feels very differently about | :31:59. | :32:02.
life. I cannot concentrate on everything. I cannot even look after | :32:03. | :32:13.
the kids. I cannot even go out after it gets dark. I am really scared. | :32:14. | :32:20.
This was a shocking attack. Laura, this BB gun, a type of air pellet | :32:21. | :32:29.
gun. The pellets are still in the victim's neck and she will require | :32:30. | :32:34.
further treatment for that. What do you know about this guy? It is a | :32:35. | :32:42.
black BB gun. The attacker, on first look, the clothing looks quite | :32:43. | :32:47.
generic but it is distinctive. The trousers are read that Navy in | :32:48. | :32:51.
colour or black, combat style with pockets to the legs, black boots and | :32:52. | :33:00.
green jacket with a herd -- the trousers are either Navy or black. | :33:01. | :33:06.
It could be a uniform. If you know the uniform, please let us know. | :33:07. | :33:12.
Quite a bit of detail. He did not get away with the money in the end? | :33:13. | :33:17.
We found detailed discarded near the shop. He had not opened it. There is | :33:18. | :33:27.
a reward. Yes. Someone knows who this person is and there is a ?3000 | :33:28. | :33:31.
reward for any information leading to the arrest and conviction of this | :33:32. | :33:37.
individual. They must come forward. Come forward if you know who he is. | :33:38. | :33:43.
Can you help to find the ruthless thieves who threatened the very | :33:44. | :33:49.
survival of some of the world's rarest birds, just like these? | :33:50. | :33:53.
Philippe Wilson works for The Cobthorn Trust. And John Hayward | :33:54. | :34:00.
from the national register for exotic pets. Tell us what happened. | :34:01. | :34:07.
We had three hens stolen at the end of April. They were young and | :34:08. | :34:11.
healthy. All we have got left now are older birds. The three hens were | :34:12. | :34:17.
sat on eggs at the time they were stolen. The eggs spoiled and the | :34:18. | :34:22.
breeding efforts were over. How where are they? Category one. There | :34:23. | :34:28.
are less than 100 breeding females in the world. These bantam hens, | :34:29. | :34:34.
there are only 30 breeding females, less than 30, probably. Really rare. | :34:35. | :34:40.
John, in your experience, do you think the birds that were taken were | :34:41. | :34:46.
stolen to order? I have no doubt. When the thieves entered the centre, | :34:47. | :34:51.
they've broken toy number of poultry houses specifically targeting those | :34:52. | :34:55.
three hens. They wanted them and they would have had a buyer | :34:56. | :35:04.
already. They targeted those birds specifically for that purpose. This | :35:05. | :35:10.
is something that you have seen across the UK recently. These rare | :35:11. | :35:16.
and exotic birds being taken. We have collated at the register | :35:17. | :35:21.
upwards of a dozen similar thefts from Chester to the Midlands, | :35:22. | :35:26.
Warwickshire, all the way down to Kent, Canterbury, where we recently | :35:27. | :35:33.
had a number of very valuable rare Belgium and English game birds | :35:34. | :35:39.
stolen. It is worth saying, the fact these birds were taken, it is not | :35:40. | :35:44.
just that they were stolen, but the very existence of this entire breed | :35:45. | :35:49.
could be at risk. They were thought to be extinct until about 1970 when | :35:50. | :35:53.
the director of The Cobthorn Trust found a flock of them. He has been | :35:54. | :35:59.
breeding them for 40 years. The fact these three hens have been stolen, | :36:00. | :36:04.
they already infertile. So difficult to breed them. There is a | :36:05. | :36:09.
distinguishing mark. Yes. All three birds carry a metal tag with the | :36:10. | :36:15.
initials NPC, national poultry collection. It is permanently fixed | :36:16. | :36:24.
to the wing. If you are offered a bird, have a look at that. If you | :36:25. | :36:29.
have seen birds like these or have any information about the thefts, | :36:30. | :36:33.
get in touch. It is your last chance to help us catch the crooks who | :36:34. | :36:39.
carried out the crimes in the full glare of the CCTV cameras. October | :36:40. | :36:45.
last year, we are in an east London supermarket. A woman is adding up | :36:46. | :36:50.
her shopping but she forgets her purse which she leaves lying on the | :36:51. | :36:54.
checkout. Instead of handing it in, the shopper behind her in the queue | :36:55. | :37:01.
sneakily hides the purse among her groceries. You can see it inside the | :37:02. | :37:07.
bag. That is not nice. Do you know this shady shopper as give us a | :37:08. | :37:15.
call. -- shady shopper? Check out this compassionate crook. He is | :37:16. | :37:20.
looking at the odds in a south London betting shop. He thinks he | :37:21. | :37:24.
has hurt the jackpot when he sees the door to the counter is unlocked. | :37:25. | :37:28.
He nips in the office and told the staff member not to worry, he is not | :37:29. | :37:35.
going to hurt her. What a gentleman. He steals ?250 from the till and | :37:36. | :37:40.
strides out of the bookies. Let us reduce his odds of doing this again. | :37:41. | :37:49.
Check out the guy walking into this shop at Doncaster railway station. | :37:50. | :37:52.
Police say he waits until staff leave the counter and then those | :37:53. | :37:57.
inside a storeroom just off-camera and pinches and employee's bag. | :37:58. | :38:03.
Second later, he is out of the hiding the bag under his own bag. | :38:04. | :38:11.
Did you see him walking through Doncaster station last December? You | :38:12. | :38:17.
did? Picked up the phone. If you recognise any of that lot, | :38:18. | :38:21.
you know what to do. Over the past two weeks, there has been a spate of | :38:22. | :38:27.
arson attacks causing ?1 million of damage at three sports centres. Here | :38:28. | :38:31.
are just some of the people who have been affected by all of this. Let us | :38:32. | :38:35.
find out what has happened at the bowls club with Robert Allen. It is | :38:36. | :38:39.
not the first time you have been targeted. Ten years ago, we were | :38:40. | :38:43.
burnt to the ground. We survived that. We rebuilt. Now it has | :38:44. | :38:50.
happened again. All that is left is a pile of ashes. We lost all of our | :38:51. | :38:56.
equipment. All our honours boards, everything has gone. We have got to | :38:57. | :39:04.
start yet again and hopefully the council are going to rebuild for us | :39:05. | :39:07.
which is essential for the welfare and for the people. You will not | :39:08. | :39:17.
give up. What happened at the tennis club? An awful lot of damage. After | :39:18. | :39:25.
four years of hard fundraising. Two weeks until completion of the | :39:26. | :39:29.
brand-new club has, it was burned down on the 22nd of June. -- | :39:30. | :39:36.
clubhouse. In Wimbledon fortnight as well. We had so much planned for the | :39:37. | :39:41.
brand-new building. We have had to postpone everything. We will carry | :39:42. | :39:46.
on. That is the message strongly coming through. Let us talk to David | :39:47. | :39:51.
from the rugby club. A lot of kids involved in the rugby club. About | :39:52. | :39:58.
600 children come. But we are going to get out. We had training last | :39:59. | :40:03.
night. We are going to open on the 6th of September, come what may. | :40:04. | :40:09.
Excellent. Let us go and speak to the officer in charge, Detective | :40:10. | :40:15.
Inspector Antony Archibald. You are linking these. We are. Arson is | :40:16. | :40:20.
quite unusual. Three in such a short space of time in a concentrated area | :40:21. | :40:30.
is rare. What could be motive be? I don't know. These clubs are the | :40:31. | :40:33.
heart of the communities and I have no idea why someone would do it. | :40:34. | :40:38.
What is your message to the public? Please be vigilant. Report anything | :40:39. | :40:46.
to us. No matter how insignificant. We are getting a strong sense from | :40:47. | :40:50.
everybody here, and this is just a fraction of those affected by it, | :40:51. | :40:55.
about how damaging this is. What is your message to whoever is doing | :40:56. | :40:59.
this? It has had a significant impact on the community and we will | :41:00. | :41:04.
do everything we can to find who is responsible. Quite a difficult task. | :41:05. | :41:10.
It is and we need the public's help. Look again at the people. They are | :41:11. | :41:17.
very upset and they have been talking to us about just how much it | :41:18. | :41:21.
means to them for their sport centres to be opened again. | :41:22. | :41:27.
Finally, I have been bringing you appeals were common -- were | :41:28. | :41:35.
criminals happy making it hard for the police to catch them. This | :41:36. | :41:40.
suspect has been giving the police a helping hand. He went to a jewellers | :41:41. | :41:43.
and looked at three rings and ran out of the store with them. The | :41:44. | :41:47.
problem was, he left his mobile phone on the counter which contained | :41:48. | :41:52.
a rather clear selfie. Police believe his name is Germain Ibrahim | :41:53. | :41:59.
Fofana. A French national wanted for a number of other offences. It has | :42:00. | :42:05.
been a pretty action packed series, Sian, for you, hasn't it? | :42:06. | :42:11.
I can't believe we are coming to the end of our Crimewatch Road show. | :42:12. | :42:20.
Thanks to everybody who has helped us along the way. We have had great | :42:21. | :42:24.
fun and it has been an action packed adventure. | :42:25. | :42:31.
It looks like there is a really busy crime scene going on here. | :42:32. | :42:41.
There are 1500 weapons in here. This is the ultimate end of this | :42:42. | :42:50.
particular car. Technology in action. Wow! | :42:51. | :42:58.
Some great stuff there. That is it for this year. For more details on | :42:59. | :43:02.
today's programme, head to the website. We will leave you with | :43:03. | :43:08.
another look at the last of our Wanted Faces. The lines will stay | :43:09. | :43:12.
open until next Friday. Still plenty of time to call. Thank you for | :43:13. | :43:14.
