We're live and we need your help to cuff some criminals! | :00:00. | :00:14.
The lone female students, terrorised by a serial attacker. | :00:15. | :00:22.
He said, "Can I come with you?" He leant over me inside my car, | :00:23. | :00:33.
and I was like, "Oh, my gosh, what is And I'm with police bikers, getting | :00:34. | :00:40.
to grips with riding pillion! Hello and welcome to | :00:41. | :00:44.
Crimewatch Roadshow. We're taking to the streets once | :00:45. | :00:55.

able to walk properly. A frightening ordeal | :01:11. | :01:14.
for a teenage girl, when a gang He was threatening me with it | :01:15. | :01:17.
and saying, "Where is the money? And if you don't know | :01:18. | :01:28.
where the money is we're We're in the West | :01:29. | :01:31.
Midlands again today. Rav, I'm at a police training | :01:32. | :01:35.
centre in Edgbaston, where many police bikers have | :01:36. | :01:39.
honed their riding This morning, they'll be showing off | :01:40. | :01:42.
some tricky manoeuvres and teaching me a thing | :01:43. | :01:52.
or two as well! First this morning, | :01:53. | :01:54.
police are appealing for your help to trace the man | :01:55. | :01:56.
behind a worrying series For many Birmingham University | :01:57. | :02:10.
students, the nearby Selly Oak area is a popular place to live. In | :02:11. | :02:15.
September last year, the community was shocked by a series of attacks | :02:16. | :02:22.
on young women. Second-year American history and literature student, | :02:23. | :02:27.
Julia Watkin Rees, moved to Selly Oak at the beginning of the academic | :02:28. | :02:34.
year. All seven of us were going out. Julia had been out with her new | :02:35. | :02:41.
housemates to celebrate the start of a new term. I could not get into the | :02:42. | :02:48.
mood of the night so I thought at 230 in the morning, I would go back | :02:49. | :02:52.
home. She walked home with a fellow student. Then parted company in the | :02:53. | :03:03.
end of her road. I headed up to my front door. At this point I thought | :03:04. | :03:12.
I was on my own. I proceeded to open my door. I thought I had got in | :03:13. | :03:20.
safely. As soon as I shut the door, there was a knock. Because I had | :03:21. | :03:25.
just left the club, I thought potentially could have been one of | :03:26. | :03:34.
them. I was -- and there was a very confused looking man. He was saying | :03:35. | :03:39.
he was looking for a lady called Helen. I said, there is definitely | :03:40. | :03:46.
no Helen here. I need to go. I started to close the door. Then | :03:47. | :03:51.
again he not. I kind of went great you need to leave me alone now. He | :03:52. | :04:01.
suddenly said, I am looking for sex. -- he groped Julia. I managed to | :04:02. | :04:07.
slam the door on him and that made him let go. I was still in absolute | :04:08. | :04:14.
shock but I was so thankful I had managed to do it. Sadly this attack | :04:15. | :04:25.
was not the only one. Just three weeks earlier, 23-year-old student | :04:26. | :04:27.
Katie had been on a night out with friends when they dropped her at | :04:28. | :04:31.
Selly Oak station to collect her car. There are two different sides | :04:32. | :04:38.
of the train station, there is a car park. I was dropped on the other | :04:39. | :04:42.
side to my car. I had to get out and cross over the bridge and platforms. | :04:43. | :04:49.
CCTV shows Katie walking along the platform. But she was not alone. I | :04:50. | :04:59.
did not feel that say. Katie started running, unaware she was being | :05:00. | :05:07.
pursued. -- that say. I got to the car park and noticed out of the | :05:08. | :05:09.
corner of my eye there was someone chasing me. I sped up and ran | :05:10. | :05:18.
quicker and unlocked my car. I jumped in my car seat. Before I | :05:19. | :05:25.
could shut the door, he was founded in my way saying, can I come with | :05:26. | :05:28.
you? Realised he was not really after my help. He came to me and got | :05:29. | :05:38.
inside the car. I thought, what will he do to me? She managed to fight | :05:39. | :05:43.
her attacker. I managed to shut the door and reversed out of the space. | :05:44. | :05:48.
He stood there, staring at me, rubbing his crotch. Then I thought, | :05:49. | :05:55.
oh, my God, I have really had a lucky escape. When police | :05:56. | :05:58.
investigated further, they realised they were dealing with a serial | :05:59. | :06:04.
attacker. Six in total in the Selly Oak area. Either in the early | :06:05. | :06:09.
evening or the early hours on young females. Each time he used a similar | :06:10. | :06:18.
tactic. One method of approaching females is, do you no Helen? Have | :06:19. | :06:23.
you seen Helen question gets him into a conversation and then the | :06:24. | :06:29.
assault. For the victims, catching the culprit means everything. Not | :06:30. | :06:32.
only would it be justice to me and the other girls who were attacked, | :06:33. | :06:36.
it would also be peace of mind he is not out there anymore and cannot do | :06:37. | :06:41.
things to other people who might not have been as lucky as we were. | :06:42. | :06:46.
Although Julia and Katie managed to get away from the attacker, the | :06:47. | :06:51.
events have had eight big impact. I'm a lot more cautious, more wary | :06:52. | :06:56.
of who is behind me. If I am going to my friends, can you walk me to my | :06:57. | :07:03.
car or my house? I became really ill. I did not want to get out of | :07:04. | :07:09.
bed. That was partly shock kicking in. I think it upset me, realising | :07:10. | :07:16.
how vulnerable I was. I have always been an Independent person. I have | :07:17. | :07:21.
loved to do things on my own. I cannot let myself get into a | :07:22. | :07:27.
situation like that again. Really frightening. Those six attacks all | :07:28. | :07:31.
happened within a couple of miles of each other in a four-week period | :07:32. | :07:35.
back in September. Did you notice anything suspicious around that | :07:36. | :07:40.
time, or do you recognise the suspect? Let's look at the CCTV | :07:41. | :07:43.
images. They are really clear. Any information, please get | :07:44. | :07:53.
in touch. And I'm heading backstage | :07:54. | :07:55.
for a little experiment. Many police forces now use | :07:56. | :07:59.
drones to help them solve And I'm joined by Inspector Andrew | :08:00. | :08:01.
Hamilton from Devon and Cornwall Police, | :08:02. | :08:07.
who are both police Andrew, this is an | :08:08. | :08:15.
impressive bit of kit. This is giving aerial support to | :08:16. | :08:36.
people in the tent and gathering evidence. We did some work at a | :08:37. | :08:40.
local school when they were looking at how GPS works and how the | :08:41. | :08:44.
helicopter work. It shows the vast coastline we have in our area. Some | :08:45. | :08:49.
sort of training exercise is going on. Firearms officers were working | :08:50. | :08:55.
in conjunction with the Ambulance Service. We can provide overhead | :08:56. | :09:02.
footage also discussed tactics. You can see so far from the air. Things | :09:03. | :09:05.
like missing persons would be brilliant with the use of the | :09:06. | :09:12.
groans, wouldn't they? My role is a fatal road traffic collision | :09:13. | :09:15.
investigator. We can look at that as well. We're not quite as auroral but | :09:16. | :09:24.
we will put this to the test. If you come in and start up the drone. We | :09:25. | :09:28.
have hidden some are a bag of money. It will not tell you where it is you | :09:29. | :09:33.
will try to find it. I will let you carry on and do that. Whilst he does | :09:34. | :09:38.
that, talk me through the benefits of using the drone in a situation | :09:39. | :09:42.
like this. Today we have money but it could a suspect. There is a big, | :09:43. | :09:54.
open space indoors. We can send in a drone. If someone has a gun or a | :09:55. | :09:59.
knife, I will not send my officers in. Here we can look at the doorway. | :10:00. | :10:05.
If there is a suspect, we can spot that straightaway. You have escape | :10:06. | :10:12.
routes. Safety is of paramount importance. Even if we sent in a dog | :10:13. | :10:17.
handler or a dog, there is obvious risk. Let's see how Tom is getting | :10:18. | :10:22.
on with the footage. He has found it straightaway. The purple bag of our | :10:23. | :10:28.
money. Had this been a real situation, that evidence is already | :10:29. | :10:33.
secured. We have not disturb the crime scene in any way. Any DNA | :10:34. | :10:38.
evidence or footprints, we have not disturb it. That is crucial, to | :10:39. | :10:44.
preserve that forensic evidence. The have had interest from other forces. | :10:45. | :10:49.
We sit on a forum where we discuss and share ideas. It is a brilliant | :10:50. | :10:54.
bit of kit. Thank you for sharing it with us. I wish I had had it when I | :10:55. | :10:57.
was on the job. Rav, I'm here at Tally Ho police | :10:58. | :11:00.
training centre in Birmingham. And it's here that police | :11:01. | :11:03.
motorcyclists hone their skills on obstacle courses | :11:04. | :11:05.
like the one behind me. West Midlands Police has used | :11:06. | :11:07.
officers on motorcycles There was even once a rather | :11:08. | :11:09.
fantastic-looking motorbike display Sergeant Richard Breeze is part of | :11:10. | :11:13.
West Midlands Police Traffic Unit. You don't have stunt drivers | :11:14. | :11:23.
anymore. But what kind of work are police | :11:24. | :11:29.
bikers typically called on to do? Anywhere where you need to get from | :11:30. | :11:38.
a to be quickly. We have all seen how dense our traffic is nowadays. | :11:39. | :11:45.
We have a rather tough course here. How important is the training for | :11:46. | :11:49.
these guys. Training is absolutely everything. Our chief instructor is | :11:50. | :11:56.
showing slow bike control, which is essential for him to be allowed to | :11:57. | :12:00.
go out onto the road and respond to an emergency situation. You can | :12:01. | :12:07.
really see him weaving in and out of the cones. What real life scenarios | :12:08. | :12:16.
does this extend to? Just about any emergency you can imagine. When the | :12:17. | :12:20.
Pope comes to visit and you have the royal family in Birmingham. These | :12:21. | :12:24.
guys will make sure the combo I is moving all the way through. These | :12:25. | :12:31.
guys will find the target vehicles. -- the convoy. It never stops. We | :12:32. | :12:38.
need to get the public to start to learn to do this. | :12:39. | :12:47.
And, Rav, we'll be back with these guys later on to find out how | :12:48. | :12:50.
they're using police-style training to improve motorbike | :12:51. | :12:52.
safety among members of the public, including me! | :12:53. | :12:54.
Next, can you help police trace a callous | :12:55. | :12:57.
gang which terrorised a teenager in her own home? | :12:58. | :13:03.
He said he would come back and her my family. We have not done | :13:04. | :13:19.
anything. They do not even know us. Destiny is a typical 14-year-old | :13:20. | :13:23.
girl with a zest for life. My daughter is an amazing person. She | :13:24. | :13:27.
is always full of energy. She is very sociable and loves her family. | :13:28. | :13:37.
She has a general knack with people. On the evening of 24th of March, | :13:38. | :13:47.
destiny was at home. Goodbye, Destiny. My family went to watch my | :13:48. | :13:54.
sister at her band recital. We went out that evening at 6:30 p.m.. | :13:55. | :13:59.
Destiny said, do not think that will be my thing. I detected her and she | :14:00. | :14:06.
text is me back to say she was fine. As the teenager relaxed alone, | :14:07. | :14:08.
masked men were approaching the house. | :14:09. | :14:31.
It was confusing and shocking. I thought it was a joke. One man went | :14:32. | :14:37.
upstairs while another demanded money. He had a screwdriver and he | :14:38. | :14:42.
was threatening me with it and saying, where is the money, if you | :14:43. | :14:47.
don't tell me where the money is we will rock you up. I felt like it was | :14:48. | :14:50.
not real. I don't know where the money is. Destiny was taken into the | :14:51. | :14:57.
kitchen and forced to search for cash. I said I don't know where it | :14:58. | :15:00.
is my parents would not leave around. They would have it in the | :15:01. | :15:05.
bank something, they would not just leave it out in the open. He was | :15:06. | :15:11.
saying, stop playing games, I don't want to have to rough you up. There | :15:12. | :15:16.
is nothing in here. As she was made to continue, a second man ransacked | :15:17. | :15:20.
the bedrooms. Until he found something valuable. Boxes full of | :15:21. | :15:34.
jewellery. Downstairs, Destiny was marched back into the living room. | :15:35. | :15:38.
He don't be to stay here and don't tell the police because we have | :15:39. | :15:42.
people watching and if you do, we're going to come back and kill your dad | :15:43. | :15:47.
or your family. My heart rate was really fast. Why would this happen | :15:48. | :15:51.
to us when we have not done anything? They don't even know us. | :15:52. | :15:55.
It was just horrible. As Destiny watched the men make the mistake, | :15:56. | :16:01.
she realised in horror that they were taking her grandmother's | :16:02. | :16:06.
jewellery. I saw them take it and I could do nothing about it. It got me | :16:07. | :16:18.
really upset. The timing of the raid could not have been worse. It was | :16:19. | :16:24.
the anniversary of my mother's passing. It would have been five | :16:25. | :16:29.
years on that day. Destiny and my mum were extremely close. She was | :16:30. | :16:37.
like my second mother. She was very special and... It is just horrible. | :16:38. | :16:46.
Horrible to think about them taking all that stuff that reminded me of | :16:47. | :16:53.
her. The burglary has had a huge impact on Destiny. She is withdrawn | :16:54. | :16:59.
and quiet. She does not want to go out and do things. I have had | :17:00. | :17:04.
nightmares recently about being hurt really badly. How could they do | :17:05. | :17:12.
that? It is not right. I didn't deserve it. | :17:13. | :17:14.
Such an ordeal for a 14-year-old to go through. | :17:15. | :17:16.
Here with me is Detective Sergeant James Ashcroft. | :17:17. | :17:22.
Detective, just remind us of what happened to Destiny. | :17:23. | :17:25.
The family live just off Hagley Road West, | :17:26. | :17:27.
On Thursday, 24th March, between 8 and 8.20pm, three men broke | :17:28. | :17:34.
Thankfully, they didn't use violence against Destiny, but they were armed | :17:35. | :17:39.
with a screwdriver and threatened to harm her family. | :17:40. | :17:41.
They took a large quantity of jewellery worth several thousand | :17:42. | :17:46.
pounds, and of significant sentimental value to the family. | :17:47. | :17:52.
And who do you believe could have done this? | :17:53. | :17:54.
We believe there are three individuals responsible. | :17:55. | :17:56.
All white males, one with an Irish accent, wearing a distinctive zip-up | :17:57. | :17:58.
jacket with lots of pockets, similar to a Barbour. | :17:59. | :18:04.
He was around 5 ft 6 and around 30 years old. | :18:05. | :18:08.
The others were taller, and one was wearing a green | :18:09. | :18:10.
And there's another man you're keen to trace to help | :18:11. | :18:14.
Yes, two days before the offence a man with an Irish accent | :18:15. | :18:21.
was reported as going door-to-door in the area. | :18:22. | :18:23.
It's very likely he was there completely legitimately. | :18:24. | :18:25.
However, we do need to identify him so he can be excluded | :18:26. | :18:28.
We have a CCTV image of him from one of the houses on the street | :18:29. | :18:32.
so if you recognise him please do get in touch. | :18:33. | :18:35.
And if you know anything about this case, if you can shed some light, | :18:36. | :18:40.
please get in touch. The usual details are on the screen. | :18:41. | :18:42.
Robbed in broad daylight - the brazen gang who beat | :18:43. | :18:47.
And we meet the man with one of the most unusual jobs | :18:48. | :18:53.
It sounds a bit mad really, you're getting bit by a dog and you're | :18:54. | :19:04.
going to enjoy it but I absolutely love working with the police dogs! | :19:05. | :19:07.
But first, take a look at today's criminals caught on CCTV. | :19:08. | :19:10.
Take a look at these two. They are trying to break down the door of | :19:11. | :19:21.
this business premises in north London. Once inside, the alarm | :19:22. | :19:27.
starts to go off but that doesn't stop them. They are clearly looking | :19:28. | :19:33.
for something. They aren't tidal research the office. One of them | :19:34. | :19:36.
grabs an envelope full of cash and the other swipes a laptop. Once they | :19:37. | :19:42.
have got what they came for, they exit. Important business assets were | :19:43. | :19:49.
taken and ?500 worth of damage was done to the door. Police would like | :19:50. | :19:53.
to hear from you if you have any information. Lunchtime outside a | :19:54. | :20:01.
shop in Toxteth in Liverpool. A security guard arrives to fill the | :20:02. | :20:05.
cash machine inside. Closely followed by this man in a green | :20:06. | :20:10.
hoodie and shorts. In the store, the man in shorts grabs the box before | :20:11. | :20:15.
letting it down the street with thousands of pounds in cash. It is | :20:16. | :20:20.
hardly subtle. Who is this quick cash thief? A quiet Friday morning | :20:21. | :20:30.
in Kirkcaldy. Two men are cycling through the town. Then they park. | :20:31. | :20:34.
They are careful to make sure the bikes are facing the right way. I | :20:35. | :20:39.
wonder why. They headed towards a local bank. The two men sprint in | :20:40. | :20:45.
with guns and demand the staff allow them entry to the office. Then they | :20:46. | :20:50.
change their demands and ask for access to the safe. When the tellers | :20:51. | :20:54.
cannot open the safe, the robbers settle for money from the tills. | :20:55. | :21:00.
They casually stroll out with cash in excess of ?11,000. One of the men | :21:01. | :21:04.
spoke with an eastern European accent and they cycled away towards | :21:05. | :21:11.
the rabbit braised area. Who are these two gun-wielding bank robbers? | :21:12. | :21:14.

Now, most of us would go out of our way to avoid | :21:31. | :21:41.
being on the receiving end of a police dog's bite. | :21:42. | :21:43.
But, for one man in West Midlands Police, | :21:44. | :21:45.
Seoul who let the dogs out? -- # Who let the dogs out. Meet Dave. A man | :21:46. | :22:04.
with one of the most unusual jobs in West Midlands Police. I am employed | :22:05. | :22:07.
here at the dog unit and one of my roles is getting bit and -- bitten | :22:08. | :22:14.
regularly by police dogs. I have always been passionate about dogs | :22:15. | :22:18.
and being able to work with police dogs and getting paid for it, it | :22:19. | :22:24.
seemed like a dream dog. Some of these springer spaniel puppies will | :22:25. | :22:28.
become specialist search dogs, tracking down drugs, firearms and | :22:29. | :22:32.
explosives. You build a bond very quickly and certain dogs, we have to | :22:33. | :22:37.
put in a little bit of extra work and care. It is hard not to get | :22:38. | :22:43.
affectionate. But Dave's main role is preparing operational police dogs | :22:44. | :22:46.
for the challenges they will face in the real world. For riots like this | :22:47. | :22:53.
and chasing down criminals. Today, he is working with a puppy called | :22:54. | :22:57.
Ned. We're going to be looking at him doing a basic assault course. | :22:58. | :23:01.
This is the beginning of a police dog's journey. He has a knotty | :23:02. | :23:05.
character so fingers crossed he has the potential to be a police dog. | :23:06. | :23:12.
Goodbye. At the moment he is showing a nice prospect and I know it is | :23:13. | :23:15.
early days but he looks like a very confident puppy. By the time a dog | :23:16. | :23:21.
in six months old, it needs to learn how to bite. Dave puts this dog | :23:22. | :23:27.
through its paces to make sure she is making the grade. We're looking | :23:28. | :23:31.
at the speed of the dog, the grip the dog. Good girl. Good girl. | :23:32. | :23:43.
Moving on a bigger. Again, getting the dog ready to be going on the | :23:44. | :23:49.
sleeve. I'm going to pull this tight and see if she readjusts. Good girl. | :23:50. | :23:53.
We let her take it now because she has a nice grip. At this stage, they | :23:54. | :24:00.
are only baby dogs so we are just building up their confidence. | :24:01. | :24:03.
Eventually they will be dealing with criminals that might try to attack | :24:04. | :24:07.
the dog or the handler. Next, it is the turn of Gilly to train on the | :24:08. | :24:15.
sleeve. As soon as the dog is settled and barking, I give the dog | :24:16. | :24:20.
bite. It has a firm grip and I allow the dog to take the sleeve. A lot of | :24:21. | :24:26.
hand movements over the dog. Someone is going to strike a dog on the | :24:27. | :24:30.
streets. You get the dog used to movement around him. It sounds a bit | :24:31. | :24:35.
mad but you are getting bitten by a dog and you enjoy it. I absolutely | :24:36. | :24:40.
love working with police dogs. I remember my first time was very | :24:41. | :24:44.
nerve wracking but once you -- but once you realise how trains they are | :24:45. | :24:48.
and how responsive they are, it is an enjoyable task to be doing. And | :24:49. | :24:51.
Dave is not the only one enjoying himself. He's very confident with a | :24:52. | :24:58.
nice, calm grip. He is very happy he's working. Dave also works with | :24:59. | :25:04.
fully fledged police dogs who need regular training to practice their | :25:05. | :25:09.
skills. Today, Ford is in the spotlight. It is time to suit up. | :25:10. | :25:17.
I'm going to be running away from the dog, making a determined effort | :25:18. | :25:23.
to escape. Wish me good luck. Hopefully he's going to obtain me. | :25:24. | :25:32.
Textbook. When Dave runs the weapon test, it is easy to see how he got | :25:33. | :25:38.
his nickname, Mr angry. Come on then! Come on then! Get him off me! | :25:39. | :25:46.
Get him off me! Forwards passes with flying colours. -- forwards passes. | :25:47. | :25:55.
You get a real buzz when you are joining these dogs. It is a great | :25:56. | :26:01.
experience when you are doing it. But even police dogs need some | :26:02. | :26:06.
downtime. Joining over, it is time to play with a favourite toy. -- | :26:07. | :26:13.
training over. Pretty special animals. | :26:14. | :26:15.
Well, Birmingham is famous for its jewellery quarter. | :26:16. | :26:19.
But the high value goods which change hands there each | :26:20. | :26:22.
day can make the area a target for criminals and, | :26:23. | :26:24.
in February, one diamond trader was viciously assaulted | :26:25. | :26:26.
Here to tell me more is DC Richard Marsh. | :26:27. | :26:29.
Richard, talk us through what happened. | :26:30. | :26:32.
At 3.30pm on Monday 22nd February, diamond dealer Jamie Doyle | :26:33. | :26:34.
was driving back to his office on Warstone Parade in | :26:35. | :26:37.
the Jewellery Quarter with high value jewellery in his car boot. | :26:38. | :26:40.
Usually he parks his car behind electronic gates, | :26:41. | :26:41.
but unfortunately on this day that space was taken, so he | :26:42. | :26:44.
As he got out, a Mercedes sped up, stopped alongside him and a gang | :26:45. | :26:52.
They assaulted him and tried to steal his jewellery. | :26:53. | :26:57.
And there's CCTV of this happening isn't there? | :26:58. | :26:59.
Yes, you can see here the gang as they beat Jamie with a baseball | :27:00. | :27:02.
In a bid to stop the men stealing the diamonds, | :27:03. | :27:06.
he threw the car keys into the middle of the road | :27:07. | :27:09.
but the gang retrieved them and stole a bag containing | :27:10. | :27:11.
around ?150,000 of diamond rings from the boot, | :27:12. | :27:13.
And you know a bit more about the car they were using? | :27:14. | :27:23.
Yes - it was a Silver Mercedes C63 S Edition - a high value and not | :27:24. | :27:27.
It was using the plates BT64 OOF which we now know were cloned. | :27:28. | :27:35.
This car was stolen in a nasty carjacking a month earlier, | :27:36. | :27:37.
Tell us more about the stolen jewellery. ?150,000 worth of | :27:38. | :27:53.
jewellery, still outstanding. We are appealing to anyone in the jewellery | :27:54. | :27:56.
trade who might have seen it. And there is a reward for this? There is | :27:57. | :28:03.
a reward of ?5,000 for anybody with any information that leads to a | :28:04. | :28:07.
conviction in this case. And how was the victim doing? He is fine. He was | :28:08. | :28:12.
a little hurt but he is very angry that these people have taken his | :28:13. | :28:13.
property. If you know the men behind either | :28:14. | :28:24.
the diamond robbery or that carjacking, please contact us | :28:25. | :28:37.
on the usual numbers. Next, to a tragic case | :28:38. | :28:43.
of a young woman whose Last August, Saima Ahmed left her | :28:44. | :28:46.
home in Wembley, North London. Her body was found five months | :28:47. | :28:50.
later, 400 miles away in Scotland. Joining me is Saima's brother, | :28:51. | :28:56.
Sadat, and DCI Martin MacLean Sadat, firstly, my deepest | :28:57. | :28:58.
condolences to you and your family. I know this is a painful thing to | :28:59. | :29:11.
speak about but thank you for coming in. | :29:12. | :29:12.
She was a very loving, caring person, part of a very close family. | :29:13. | :29:25.
On the day she left home last summer, everything seems to be | :29:26. | :29:30.
normal, nothing out of the ordinary? Everything was normal. She left home | :29:31. | :29:33.
and there was nothing that we know about that was any different. DCI | :29:34. | :29:39.
Maclean, what do we know about the journey she made from her London | :29:40. | :29:44.
home? After she left home on Sunday the 30th of August last year, we | :29:45. | :29:48.
have caught on CCTV boarding and overground train heading from | :29:49. | :29:52.
Wembley train station to Watford Junction at 10:18am. That is the | :29:53. | :29:58.
image and you can see her there with the handbag she was carrying. From | :29:59. | :30:04.
tickets recovered near to the body, we believe that she then travelled | :30:05. | :30:08.
to Hemel Hempstead and from there to Birmingham and from Birmingham on to | :30:09. | :30:11.
Edinburgh. The information we have today is that the ticket that occur | :30:12. | :30:15.
from Birmingham to Edinburgh was purchased just after 5pm on that | :30:16. | :30:19.
Sunday at Birmingham new Street train station. That leads us to | :30:20. | :30:28.
believe that she took one of two trains to Edinburgh, either the | :30:29. | :30:34.
5:15pm or the 5:32pm through your work, bringing her to Edinburgh at | :30:35. | :30:38.
around 10:20pm that Sunday. And from that point, there was no news for | :30:39. | :30:45.
several months until the New Year. Tragically on the 9th of January, | :30:46. | :30:49.
Saima's remains were discovered on the outskirts of Edinburgh. That | :30:50. | :30:54.
resulted in a major investigation being launched and detailed | :30:55. | :30:58.
forensics examination. Specialist forensic experts and other | :30:59. | :31:02.
investigations lead me to believe that she died close to the time that | :31:03. | :31:06.
she went missing at the end of August. Unfortunately the postmortem | :31:07. | :31:11.
has given us and an ascertainable cause of death. That leaves us with | :31:12. | :31:16.
a lot of unanswered questions for Saima's family so we need the | :31:17. | :31:21.
public's health. -- public's help. We do speak to anyone who might have | :31:22. | :31:25.
seen Saima on that train. Let's look at the image again. You want to hear | :31:26. | :31:31.
from people who may have seen her making their journey. Absolutely. | :31:32. | :31:37.
Maybe you are working in a shop or you are but sorry taxi driver. We | :31:38. | :31:43.
also have a new sighting on Portobello beach on the Monday | :31:44. | :31:47.
morning. Did she stay in a local guesthouse? Ultimately, how did she | :31:48. | :31:48.
get to that golf course. We have no idea why she would have | :31:49. | :32:01.
travelled to Edinburgh. We have no family links there. What everyone | :32:02. | :32:05.
needs is answers. Detective, Sadat, | :32:06. | :32:12.
thank you very much. If you can help, | :32:13. | :32:13.
please do get in touch. Next, detectives need your | :32:14. | :32:16.
help to identify a hit and run driver who left a young | :32:17. | :32:20.
motorbike courier with life- From a young age by Daniel was | :32:21. | :32:34.
fascinated with motorbikes. I started young, at seven. I wanted a | :32:35. | :32:39.
bike for Christmas. Never really got off one since. The first bike I had | :32:40. | :32:45.
was read. I got sent to bed early on Christmas Eve. When I woke up I | :32:46. | :32:50.
could not believe what I had. As he got older, his love of bikes was not | :32:51. | :32:56.
just a hobby. His skills as a rider led into the perfect job of a | :32:57. | :33:00.
career. I never found a job I could settle in. To work on my bike and | :33:01. | :33:09.
bike at the same time, it was perfect, fun. A few months ago, | :33:10. | :33:15.
Daniel bought his dream bike. The bike I had was a Yamaha. I had saved | :33:16. | :33:21.
and I had a brand-new, the day it was released. The day I got that | :33:22. | :33:26.
bike, I felt like I was young and free, seven again. I could do what I | :33:27. | :33:34.
wanted. It was a stress reliever. On 11th of April, Daniel had the day | :33:35. | :33:40.
off work. He decided to visit a friend, just a five-minute ride | :33:41. | :33:41.
away. Everything was fine. The traffic was | :33:42. | :34:10.
fine, it was not easy. When I got to a mini roundabout, I slowed down, | :34:11. | :34:15.
looked to my right and left it was fine. I carried on over. That is | :34:16. | :34:18.
when I saw a car coming. I did not really feel pain. I just | :34:19. | :34:46.
felt sleepy, really tired. Nothing seemed real. I did not believe it | :34:47. | :34:52.
had happened. I thought I was dreaming. When I woke up and the | :34:53. | :34:59.
ambulance was with me, I knew there was something wrong with my leg. | :35:00. | :35:04.
That is when I came back to my senses and realised I was in a lot | :35:05. | :35:09.
of pain I do not remember getting in or out of an ambulance, I just | :35:10. | :35:12.
remember the pain I was in. When I saw my leg in a brace, I was in | :35:13. | :35:16.
shock and horrified it was not nice to look at at all. My leg was open. | :35:17. | :35:24.
I could not move or get up. I did not know what to do. When they took | :35:25. | :35:28.
me to theatre, knowing I could wake up without a leg, that was the worst | :35:29. | :35:33.
part. I woke up, it was the first thing I was looking for, to see if | :35:34. | :35:38.
it was there. Luckily, for Daniel, the operation was a success. During | :35:39. | :35:41.
his stay in hospital, tragedy struck once more. After days of having | :35:42. | :35:50.
drugs pumped into me, the thirsty people there were my very close | :35:51. | :35:54.
friends. That night, after they went, my friend had an accident and | :35:55. | :36:00.
lost his life on a motorbike. That hurt me more than anything, not | :36:01. | :36:04.
being able to go where he died and put some flowers down. Daniel stayed | :36:05. | :36:10.
in hospital for nearly a month undergoing extensive reconstructive | :36:11. | :36:13.
surgery of the incident has left him with a leg so badly damaged his | :36:14. | :36:18.
whole life has changed. My leg will never be the same again. I have been | :36:19. | :36:22.
told I will never be able to walk again properly. My son lives quite a | :36:23. | :36:28.
long way away in Birmingham from where I am. I have not seen him | :36:29. | :36:33.
since I have come out of hospital. With my accident and losing my | :36:34. | :36:38.
friend on the same day it has changed my mind on things | :36:39. | :36:41.
completely. Even though it was not my fault, I do not want to get on a | :36:42. | :36:50.
bike again. It is one big nightmare. If the person who has done this to | :36:51. | :36:54.
me is watching, I would like him to come forward and do the right thing. | :36:55. | :36:57.
They do not realise how much they have wrecked my life and the turmoil | :36:58. | :37:00.
turning it upside down. This really has had | :37:01. | :37:03.
a huge impact on Daniel. I'm joined by PC Laura Loy | :37:04. | :37:05.
from West Midlands Police. Laura, just go over what you know | :37:06. | :37:08.
about this hit and run so far At about 1:20pm Monday the 11th of | :37:09. | :37:20.
April, Daniel was riding his motorcycle when we believe a dark | :37:21. | :37:26.
green Volvo estate, 2003 model, collided with Daniel. The driver | :37:27. | :37:31.
fell to stop at the scene. The collision was on hogs Lane at the | :37:32. | :37:37.
mini island. The vehicle was found burnt out in the hours of next | :37:38. | :37:42.
morning. What information I looking for? Any witnesses to come forward. | :37:43. | :37:47.
Anyone seeing the vehicle before or after the collision when leading up | :37:48. | :37:51.
to when it was burned at the following morning. Do you have any | :37:52. | :37:56.
information about the driver? An eyewitness saw a vehicle we believed | :37:57. | :37:58.
to have been involved. The driver was described as a white male | :37:59. | :38:04.
between 50 and 60 years with a fluorescent jacket. We would urge | :38:05. | :38:07.
that driver to come forward and we would like to trace him. Back to | :38:08. | :38:09.
you. Now it's time for a look | :38:10. | :38:12.
at today's Wanted Faces. Detectives want to question him | :38:13. | :38:15.
in connection with the kidnap, attempted rape and sexual assault | :38:16. | :38:19.
of a woman. Waheeb is 33 with | :38:20. | :38:20.
a Birmingham accent. He also has links to London | :38:21. | :38:22.
and Essex, although it's believed Detectives want to question him | :38:23. | :38:25.
about a stabbing at a flat in Romford in Essex | :38:26. | :38:30.
earlier this year. He's 20 and has friends | :38:31. | :38:32.
and family in London, He has a number of scars including | :38:33. | :38:36.
ones on the left side Detectives in Derbyshire | :38:37. | :38:41.
want to question him in connection with the indecent assault | :38:42. | :38:48.
and rape of a young girl. This photo of Jackson was taken | :38:49. | :38:50.
a number of years ago. He's now 62 and police believe | :38:51. | :38:53.
he may look similar to this drawing. He has a number of tattoos | :38:54. | :38:56.
on his left arm and back, Jackson has connections to Spain, | :38:57. | :39:01.
especially to Alicante. Finally today we have Stephen Healy, | :39:02. | :39:07.
although you may know him He was jailed for four years | :39:08. | :39:09.
for burglary in 2012 But he's failed to stick | :39:10. | :39:13.
to the terms of his release Healy is 39 and has links | :39:14. | :39:19.
to Ireland, south London and Kent. If you recognise any of these faces | :39:20. | :39:24.
make sure you get in touch. Well, I'm here with West Midlands | :39:25. | :39:30.
Police and this morning, we've appealed for your help to find | :39:31. | :39:39.
the driver who left motorcyclist Daniel with horrific injuries | :39:40. | :39:42.
in a hit and run. Sergeant Richard Breeze | :39:43. | :39:50.
from the force's Traffic Unit Talk me through the statistics. They | :39:51. | :40:00.
make terrible reading. 1% of the road users making up 20% of all | :40:01. | :40:05.
fatal road traffic collisions I investigate. We are talking around | :40:06. | :40:10.
600 people each and every year on motorcycles are getting themselves | :40:11. | :40:14.
killed. Extreme figures. We also saw earlier the training you do here for | :40:15. | :40:19.
police motorcyclists. How are you using that to help civilian riders? | :40:20. | :40:25.
Police riders are some of the best riders in the world. The advantage | :40:26. | :40:29.
of the training we have, we are giving back to members of the | :40:30. | :40:35.
public. Like Safe is a nationally run scheme for members of the | :40:36. | :40:41.
public. -- Bike. We would love to pass on some of our knowledge. | :40:42. | :40:47.
Talking about riding safe, we're also joined by Craig Jones, a | :40:48. | :40:51.
professional rider. I have never been on a motorbike and you are | :40:52. | :40:54.
going to take me through some safety things. Being on the back of a bike, | :40:55. | :40:58.
you to have the knowledge of where your body position needs to be as | :40:59. | :41:03.
important. You can help or hinder me. If you get body position right, | :41:04. | :41:09.
on a very easy exercise like this, I will not even know you are there. | :41:10. | :41:16.
350 kilograms, fully loaded, with a passenger on. It can be a problem | :41:17. | :41:21.
for the rider. Let's see how we go. I shall hop on. This will be an | :41:22. | :41:28.
interesting experience. This course is very simple. A series of six | :41:29. | :41:34.
metre diameter circles. The distance between any curve to curve on any | :41:35. | :41:38.
small road is way in excess of that. Believe it or not, many riders | :41:39. | :41:42.
cannot turn around a bike in a small area like this. If I get my body to | :41:43. | :41:49.
the outside, if you follow me to be outside in each case, then really | :41:50. | :41:54.
this bike becomes an extension of me. I am just mirroring you, aren't | :41:55. | :42:01.
I? Exactly. It is really interesting to see. I actually think I am | :42:02. | :42:05.
getting the hang of this. You are really into your motorbike, so maybe | :42:06. | :42:07.
I will join you on one sometime. Before we go, a quick look at what's | :42:08. | :42:15.
been coming in on the phones. We have already had some names | :42:16. | :42:22.
coming in relating to the Selly Oak attacks in Birmingham. You may never | :42:23. | :42:25.
yesterday when we show you the malicious attack on the retired | :42:26. | :42:33.
policeman. -- we showed you. Officers are chasing up a potential | :42:34. | :42:37.
lead as a result of your information. Where are you going to | :42:38. | :42:44.
be tomorrow? We're going to be leaving the West Midlands and | :42:45. | :42:47.
heading to south Wales, where I will be learning how to carry out | :42:48. | :42:50.
