This one's Dixie.

And this one is Polly.

And how do you tell the difference?

Because Polly has a white tail.

And Dixie has a black spot on her nose

and a black spot on her tail.

Oh, they're lovely. And what type of piggies are Polly and Dixie?

-Kunekune pigs.

-Kunekune pigs?

-They're all the way from New Zealand, aren't they?

-Yeah.

They're amazing.

-And what is their favourite thing to eat?

-Carrots.

What noises do your piggies make? Do they go, gnuff-gnuff-gnuff?

I can't believe how hairy they are, as well. Their hair is so long.

-Do you have to brush all this hair?

-Sometimes.

Yeah, to keep all the mud out of it.

Lots of people keep kunekune pigs as pets

because they make such wonderful company.

Rory, can you tell me a fun fact about my new piggy friends here?

Of course, Ferne.

One - the name "kunekune" actually means "fat and round".

Two - kunekune pigs come in lots of different colours.

Three - the grunting noise that pigs make

is actually them talking to each other.

Care time!

Having pets can be great fun.

But it's really important to take special care of them.

And you need to take time every day to do this.

Scarlett, you look busy. What are you doing?

I'm helping Mum mucking out my pigs.

-All the time.

And why do you muck out the pigs?

Because they like their bed all fresh and clean.

-Can I come in and help?

We have to keep their tails nice and clean.

Look at these big feet here. Do you know what their feet are called?

-Trotters.

They are made of the same stuff that our fingernails are made out of.

-And do they need water as well?

-Yes.

Playtime!

As well as all of that hard work,

pets can be really, really good fun.

And, very often, playtime is just as important

as feeding and grooming them.

And I think it is playtime now.

-Shall we try piggy in the middle?

-Yeah.

We have to just try and pass it over her.

They are not playing with this ball.

-Is there another ball that piggies like playing football with?

-Yes.

Do you want to roll it?

-Come on, Polly!

-And is this ball filled with pig nuts, is that why they eat it?

-Yeah.

Pig nuts are special food that pigs love.

As well as playing, they also love cuddles.

Look how happy she is! Oh, Polly!

Does she have a tickly spot?

-Is she like a dog with her belly being rubbed?

-Yeah.

Oh, so soft there.

It's really important to have cuddle time with pets, isn't it?

Because it makes them really, really happy.

And you can see that Polly is a really happy piggy, isn't she?

Pigs communicate with each other

by making lots of grunts and snorts, don't they?

-Like, gnuff-gnuff!

-Gnuff!

If Polly and Dixie could go anywhere, where would they go?

If my pets could go anywhere,

Polly and Dixie would go to the moon.

And they would have dinner on the moon.

They would have tomato pasta.

And they would see an aeroplane.

And they would wave to all the passengers on the aeroplane.

Scarlett is really lucky, because pigs are not her only pets.

What else do you have, Scarlett?

Horses.

-And what are their names?

-Indy and Hazel.

They're beautiful names.

-And what else do you have?

-Chickens.

-How many chickens do you have? Is that all of them?

Oh, it was so much fun. Let me tell you all about it.

Today I met Scarlett and her kunekune pigs, Polly and Dixie.

Scarlett showed me how to clean their stable.

And we gave them fresh food and water.

We played football with them in the field.

And then had a tea party with all the animals.

That sounds amazing!
