It would have been the mid-'70s, I would reckon, and I,

at that time, worked in number two shipyard drawing office

at Harland and Wolff, and down in

the bottom of the filing cabinets,

I found the Titanic drawings,

and I was amazed.

I joined Harland and Wolff in 1956, as an apprentice draughtsman,

and Titanic was never mentioned.

It was as if they were ashamed of her.

When I see the particulars of the vessel, the length, the beam,

the draught, I can establish that it was a very fine shape water line.

They were always drawn by hand.

That was a skill inherited through years of experience.

Titanic was a thing of beauty,

and the DNA for Titanic will be buried in this particular drawing.
