-HOWARD:

-This concert, we've got to sort of push the boundaries.

0:00:110:00:14

We've got to challenge ourselves each and every time.

0:00:140:00:17

GARY: We've been through many things, but losing another member.

0:00:170:00:22

It's brought back all those feelings of fighting for your place again.

0:00:220:00:25

-MARK:

-We want to prove ourselves like we did when we were 17,

0:00:250:00:29

playing to 20 people in a club in Newcastle.

0:00:290:00:32

You go through many worries when it goes from a four to a three.

0:00:330:00:37

"Are we being selfish? People are not going to like it.

0:00:370:00:39

"Is it over now?"

0:00:390:00:41

We couldn't continue unless the audience wanted us to.

0:00:450:00:50

They're keeping us alive and giving us a purpose.

0:00:500:00:52

It's like we're starting again.

CHEERING

0:03:420:03:46

If you go back a year, when Jason left, there was

0:03:460:03:49

that moment where I just thought,

0:03:490:03:53

"We've been through many things but losing another member!

0:03:530:03:56

"I mean, not just Rob not being with us this time, but Jason going.

0:03:560:04:01

"I don't know. I don't know about this."

0:04:010:04:04

I remember that night crying.

0:04:100:04:13

We hadn't had the best year,

0:04:160:04:18

personally.

0:04:180:04:20

It hit home, because we were still, like, a week before, going,

0:04:200:04:23

"Ah, Jay, it'll be all right. Just do another tour with us.

0:04:230:04:26

"You'll be fine."

0:04:260:04:28

There was a lot of uncertainty around whether it was going to be

0:04:280:04:31

three, whether it would be four, or even whether we were going to end up

0:04:310:04:34

being five,

0:04:340:04:35

so we started the year not very sure where we were going to be.

0:04:350:04:39

If we hadn't decided then, "Let's do this as a three or at least have a

0:04:390:04:42

"go at doing it as a three," that would've been the end of the band.

0:04:420:04:45

-Yeah.

-You know, the thought of doing it was quite daunting.

0:04:450:04:48

-The thought of not doing it was...

-Worse.

-Worse, yeah.

0:04:480:04:51

I was on the phone to you

0:04:510:04:53

and you said, "What about doing it as a three?"

0:04:530:04:55

And I thought, "Bingo!"

0:04:550:04:58

That's exactly what I've been thinking in my head.

0:04:580:05:01

And I've been really fighting with it,

0:05:010:05:03

thinking whether it's going to work.

0:05:030:05:06

This was us putting out Jason's statement.

0:05:060:05:10

And literally sitting for 48 hours watching social media.

0:05:100:05:15

This wave of support and, "You've got to carry on!

0:05:150:05:20

"Please don't say it's the end!"

0:05:200:05:22

And it was just like you wanted to cry, because you thought

0:05:220:05:27

"Oh, thank goodness for that." We can carry on.

0:05:270:05:30

It's one thing wanting to, but we had the support,

0:05:300:05:34

we had our audience behind us,

0:05:340:05:35

and it's not just an audience - it's like an army, our crowd.

0:05:350:05:39

And we all met one day for lunch.

0:05:390:05:41

I came out of there thinking, "It's going to be like a new band, this."

0:05:410:05:45

Because we hadn't talked like that, really, since the '90s,

0:05:450:05:49

and I came out really excited.

0:05:490:05:51

We had to stop thinking, "Oh, there's somebody missing."

0:05:510:05:54

Or, "There's two people missing from the last tour."

0:05:540:05:56

You're still getting the essence and the energy and the

0:05:560:06:00

vibes of what Take That have always been

0:06:000:06:02

whether it's a three or a four or a five.

0:06:020:06:05

I think we've somehow managed to make it work.

0:06:050:06:09

We've designed it for a three.

0:06:090:06:11

And Jason is sorely missed,

0:06:110:06:13

but most people have come away happy with the show.

0:06:130:06:16

It's probably made our music better, probably made our tour better.

0:06:190:06:23

I think it makes you better when you're faced with the fact, "Wow.

0:06:230:06:28

"People might not want you to do this any more."

0:06:280:06:31

And that... That I hadn't felt for a while.

0:06:310:06:34

You know, I miss him. Everyone misses him.

0:06:370:06:40

It still makes me the ugliest, whether he's in or not.

0:06:400:06:43

It's so nice to be here.

0:06:470:06:48

Thank you all for coming out and spending your Friday night with us.

0:06:480:06:51

We really appreciate it.

0:06:510:06:53

It has, however,

0:06:540:06:55

been brought to my attention that some people have not seen

0:06:550:06:58

a Take That concert before, so I thought it might be -

0:06:580:07:01

I know, I know.

0:07:010:07:02

I thought it might be a good idea if we introduced ourselves, OK?

0:07:020:07:06

So good evening, everybody. I am Mark.

0:07:060:07:08

CHEERING

0:07:250:07:29

I just want to express our love and gratitude to everyone.

0:07:290:07:32

For, you know, nearly 25 years there's been

0:07:320:07:34

so much support in this room.

0:07:340:07:36

Also so much support around the world, so thank you very much and

0:07:370:07:41

honestly we're still living our dream so keep supporting

0:07:410:07:44

and we'll be there for you, OK? Thank you.

0:10:590:11:01

CHEERING

0:11:010:11:05

You obviously haven't got a majority of teenage girls in the audience.

0:11:050:11:09

We have, like, 30-year-olds to 40-year-olds. That's the majority.

0:11:090:11:12

You see so many groups of guys in the audience now,

0:11:120:11:16

younger girls, kids with their parents, you know?

0:11:160:11:18

They just tickle me.

0:11:180:11:20

Your act in a way relies on there being an audience.

0:11:200:11:23

There's more time to appreciate what you've got

0:11:230:11:27

and appreciate what they've given to you

0:11:270:11:29

and the fact that they've supported you and followed you.

0:11:290:11:32

We started off building up our audience.

0:11:320:11:35

-Remember we used to throw flyers out?

-In a box, didn't we?

0:11:350:11:37

We had a box in the back of the van.

0:11:370:11:40

-Yeah.

-And we first started getting fan mail.

0:11:400:11:42

I think it was quite competitive.

0:11:420:11:44

-What, cos I had the most?

-No, no.

0:11:440:11:46

You didn't have the most. Mark started getting the most.

0:11:460:11:49

I used to put some of Mark's in my pile to make it look higher.

0:11:490:11:52

-I remember the first time our van got chased. Wasn't many.

-10.

0:11:540:11:58

It was about ten. It was about ten. They chased after the van.

0:11:580:12:02

And they followed us back to about Leeds and then thought,

0:12:020:12:05

"Hang on a minute.

0:12:050:12:06

"They're going home."

0:12:060:12:08

-Gone a bit far.

-Can't be bothered going the rest of the way.

0:12:080:12:10

-It was a health hazard, that van.

-We lived in that van.

0:12:100:12:13

We lived in it.

0:12:130:12:14

I seem to remember us breaking down on the motorway.

0:12:140:12:16

Oh, we did, at Portsmouth.

0:12:160:12:18

And we were running down in our Do What You Like outfits,

0:12:180:12:20

in our leather gear.

0:12:200:12:22

And we had mike stands and all that leather clobber,

0:12:220:12:24

running down the hard shoulder.

0:12:240:12:26

-We didn't run to the gig, did we?

-No, we got a taxi.

0:12:260:12:28

-Got a taxi there?

-We flagged a taxi down at the roundabout.

0:12:280:12:31

When they saw us, they wished we'd stayed on the hard shoulder, though.

0:12:310:12:35

Everywhere we were going, I think

0:12:350:12:37

we were going through the backs of the kitchens.

0:12:370:12:40

It was always hysteria, wasn't it?

0:12:400:12:41

There was never a chance, really, to kind of take it in.

0:12:410:12:45

I felt like we spent the whole of the '90s running

0:12:450:12:48

away from our audience.

0:12:480:12:50

Now they're running away from us!

0:12:500:12:52

But it's different now, though.

0:12:530:12:55

People are coming up to me all the time, but it's lovely.

0:12:550:12:58

Cos they only want to say nice things.

0:12:580:13:00

It's really warming when you see the people that have been

0:13:000:13:02

there from the very beginning and you see them on the front row.

0:16:180:16:20

# I guess now it's time that you came back for good. #

0:16:220:16:30

CHEERING AND APPLAUSE

0:16:320:16:35

I think every time I go on stage, I think

0:16:430:16:46

I go on with the feeling that this is my last show.

0:16:460:16:49

I didn't have that when I was young

0:16:490:16:50

because I thought it would go on forever.

0:16:500:16:53

You see here, me and Mark normally sit on this side

0:16:550:16:58

because Gary always put that sign there.

0:16:580:17:00

Reserved, because he doesn't want anyone sitting next to him.

0:17:000:17:03

I don't even know who's writing that is. It's your writing.

0:17:030:17:06

It's been four years since we've been on stage together, really.

0:17:060:17:10

We had to find our space again and our way to perform again

0:17:100:17:12

and that takes time.

0:17:120:17:14

If we were to come off stage after our first Scottish dates

0:17:140:17:18

and most of the people were saying, "Oh, I don't really like it

0:17:180:17:21

"that much" or, "The other tour was better," it would be so upsetting.

0:17:210:17:25

It would really get to me, it really would.

0:17:250:17:27

It would touch a nerve because we love doing live

0:17:270:17:30

more than anything else.

0:17:300:17:32

Essentially, the ideas come from the guys.

0:17:320:17:35

They always sit down and discuss

0:17:350:17:36

and talk about what they want to do and throw ideas about.

0:17:360:17:39

All are involved with every aspect.

0:17:390:17:42

I think Mark leads the creative process.

0:17:430:17:45

He draws a lot and comes in with a lot of sketches.

0:17:450:17:48

He's come up with some amazing stuff for this tour.

0:17:480:17:51

It started off with drawings, pencil drawings,

0:17:510:17:53

really bad ones on backs of disused paper, drawing plans.

0:17:530:17:57

We wanted something that was very colourful and positive.

0:17:570:18:00

I'm really, really proud of it, to be honest.

0:18:000:18:02

I think everybody has done really well.

0:18:020:18:04

We've got an amazing crew, amazing cast.

0:18:040:18:06

About 70% of our crew, they've been with us

0:18:100:18:13

since about '92 and they're with us because they're good.

0:18:130:18:16

They're not just with us because it's a habit.

0:18:160:18:19

That's a great working environment, that is.

0:18:190:18:22

They know what we want, they know what we don't want

0:18:220:18:26

and people make it work.

0:18:260:18:27

Kim, well he's our fourth member at the moment.

0:18:330:18:35

He just plucks ideas out and he takes our ideas and puts them into reality.

0:18:350:18:41

Their success has been their live show.

0:18:410:18:43

The longevity is there

0:18:430:18:44

because of the effort that they put into their shows.

0:18:440:18:48

He's eyes, because when you're up on the stage doing what you do,

0:18:480:18:51

you don't know how it looks but he's our eyes.

0:18:510:18:53

He's honest and will come up to us and say,

0:18:530:18:55

"That's not right, that's not working, this isn't working."

0:18:550:18:57

It's all the people who just care for us.

0:18:570:19:00

They just... They just look after us and they work hard for us.

0:19:000:19:04

It's so great to have that. It takes years, doesn't it?

0:19:040:19:07

Even though they were a put together band, there's a bond there

0:19:090:19:12

and an understanding which a lot of bands, equivalent bands,

0:19:120:19:16

don't ever really achieve and you have to have that.

0:19:160:19:20

I was the biggest Take That fan.

0:19:200:19:22

I went to my first concert when I was 11 at Wembley.

0:19:220:19:25

I remember crying when Robbie left.

0:19:250:19:27

I had the sticker books, I had the lot.

0:19:270:19:30

We've had quiz nights with Gary Barlow being the quizmaster,

0:19:300:19:33

so it's just really nice to get to know them on that level, as well.

0:19:330:19:37

They don't feel distant from you, you know,

0:19:370:19:39

you feel like they're actually part of the group and part of the cast.

0:19:390:19:42

They've always been about the show

0:19:420:19:43

and putting on the best possible two hours that they can.

0:19:430:19:48

To see them all willing us on, we feel like everyone is going,

0:19:480:19:52

"Go on, you can do it."

0:19:520:19:53

It's like watching the Grand National

0:19:530:19:55

and you're on that final lap and everyone is going, "Go on, go on!"

0:19:550:19:59

The three of us are one part of the show, but then every division,

0:19:590:20:03

every department of our company, which is a lot of people,

0:20:030:20:09

they all have their show, as well.

0:20:090:20:11

When we weren't sure and feeling a bit... Are we doing all right?

0:20:110:20:16

I think, probably, everybody at one point, came up to us and said,

0:20:160:20:20

"You've got another show here. You've done it."

0:20:200:20:24

And that was really nice for them to say, really nice to hear them

0:20:240:20:28

say it, because they know.

0:20:280:20:30

0:24:010:24:03

APPLAUSE AND CHEERING

0:24:030:24:08

I started in the working men's clubs.

0:24:100:24:13

Saw hundreds of acts over the years come through.

0:24:130:24:17

The ones that always stuck out, are the ones who went

0:24:170:24:21

that extra bit further.

0:24:210:24:23

They had a costume change, they had a little backdrop to

0:24:230:24:27

perform in front of and the audience always responded to it.

0:24:270:24:31

I was at Butlins with my mum.

0:24:310:24:34

I saw these Latin American dancers and I turned round to my mum

0:24:340:24:38

and said, "I want to dance." My mum said, "Yes."

0:24:380:24:41

My dad, once a year, used to take me to a circus called

0:24:410:24:44

the Bellevue Circus and I remember crowds of people,

0:24:440:24:47

people everywhere all around, and I remember

0:24:470:24:50

holding on to my parents or my brother and my sister and just

0:24:500:24:53

being in the whole atmosphere of people being swept along.

0:24:530:24:57

We want people to have that feeling when they come to our shows,

0:24:570:25:00

not quite knowing what to expect, not knowing

0:25:000:25:03

where the next thing is coming from.

0:25:030:25:05

We want to save thank you to the audience and to the crowd

0:25:110:25:15

and that's why we put so much into those shows.

0:25:150:25:18

It's like you want to give them all these lovely surprises,

0:25:180:25:20

these presents.

0:25:200:25:22

It's the best way we know how to say thank you for allowing us

0:25:220:25:25

to do this for all this time.

0:25:250:25:28

As much or maybe more than ever, people are just going,

0:25:280:25:30

"It is so deep, it is so rich. There's so much stuff going on."

0:25:300:25:34

MUSIC PLAYS

0:25:400:25:43

We want people to stand there in amazement at the lights

0:25:460:25:49

and the set and that's what we want.

0:25:490:25:52

That's a happy fan.

0:25:520:25:55

We want to give them a whole world of fantastical stuff.

0:25:550:25:59

The fans come and they see 14 shows, different cities

0:25:590:26:03

and they still see things that they haven't seen before.

0:26:030:26:06

We wanted to do something special for The Garden.

0:26:060:26:09

It is such a beautiful song and the words are great

0:26:090:26:12

and it evokes a lovely emotion and we thought, right,

0:26:120:26:16

let's create a little story that we're going under the sea.

0:26:160:26:20

# And the fishermen came back across the water

0:26:300:26:36

# And the people started running in the park... #

0:26:360:26:40

It's beautiful to see live puppetry.

0:26:400:26:42

When I first saw that, I choked up.

0:26:420:26:45

When I first saw them doing that, I was like,

0:26:450:26:47

"Oh, my God, that is so pretty, so beautiful and so simple."

0:26:470:26:52

It's the kind of music that I like. Sgt Pepper-ish.

0:26:520:26:56

It's a fun section for us to do. The imagery is fantastic.

0:26:560:26:59

It's very uplifting, as well.

0:26:590:27:01

It's lovely being inside there. It's such a beautiful feeling.

0:27:010:27:04

The lights and watching the guys do their thing.

0:27:040:27:06

And it opens up and it's all those people, the colour changes

0:27:080:27:13

and we're in our underwater outfits.

0:27:130:27:17

The curtain that closes and the puppet show and when it opens,

0:27:170:27:20

there's this magical, colourful garden and I think

0:27:200:27:23

that's a real magical moment.

0:27:230:27:26

# Let me love you

0:27:260:27:29

# This is the life we've been given

0:27:290:27:34

# So open your mind and start livin'

0:27:340:27:39

# We can play our part... #

0:27:390:27:40

The amount of stuff that's going on behind you

0:27:400:27:43

and how it's placed and stuff like that, it's...

0:27:430:27:47

It's mind-blowing.

0:27:470:27:50

We see in the people's eyes, the colours...

0:27:500:27:54

They burst and that's beautiful.

0:27:540:27:56

It's like going from black-and-white TV to when colour TV came

0:27:560:28:00

and it's so lovely to see.

0:28:000:28:02

I always think it's about making a connection with the audience.

0:28:050:28:08

The bike gave us the most amazing way to do that,

0:28:080:28:11

because we were literally hanging over everybody.

0:28:110:28:14

I remember the first time we took it up for a spin.

0:28:140:28:17

It lifted off and the three of us

0:28:170:28:19

were on this bike pedalling round this studio in London.

0:28:190:28:23

It was that ET moment when he's going, "No, no, is it?"

0:28:230:28:27

And it just takes off and it goes across the moon.

0:28:270:28:30

In my head, that was happening.

0:28:300:28:34

All these hardened roadies were waving at us

0:28:340:28:38

with big smiles on their faces.

0:28:380:28:40

I thought, our crowd is going to love this.

0:28:400:28:42

If it can do that to them boys, the audience are going to love it.

0:28:420:28:46

It's a funny feeling being above the fans and a great moment.

0:28:500:28:53

I've seen it every night and I'm like, "Oh, my God, this is amazing."

0:28:530:28:56

I look forward to it all night.

0:28:560:28:58

The greatest bit is always seeing the faces of the audience

0:29:000:29:03

and Howard in his cap, in the sidecar, steering the bike.

0:29:030:29:07

I'll remember that for a long time.

0:29:070:29:10

It's the 16th version of Relight.

0:29:170:29:19

It's always challenging to take a song that you've done several

0:29:190:29:22

times into a new area.

0:29:220:29:23

We thought it would be a great idea to go very Japanese.

0:29:250:29:28

MUSIC: Relight My Fire

0:29:280:29:32

# Because I need

0:30:500:30:54

# Oh, I need your love

0:30:540:31:01

# You gotta be sure enough to walk on through the night

0:31:030:31:06

# There's another new day on the other side

0:31:060:31:10

# But I got hope in my soul

0:31:100:31:14

# I keep on walkin' baby

0:31:140:31:17

# Whoa

0:31:170:31:19

# Strong enough to walk on through the night

0:31:190:31:22

# There's a new day on the other side

0:31:220:31:26

# But I got to have hope in my soul

0:31:260:31:30

# I keep walking baby

0:31:300:31:32

0:31:320:31:35

# Relight my fire

0:31:350:31:37

# Relight my fire

0:31:370:31:39

# Your love is my only desire

0:31:390:31:43

# Relight my fire

0:31:430:31:45

# Cos I need, need, need, need, need your love

0:31:450:31:51

APPLAUSE AND CHEERING

0:32:160:32:17

Wow! Thank you so much, everybody.

0:32:220:32:25

I want you to get your phones out of your pockets, light them up

0:32:250:32:29

because we need a London star cross for this song.

0:32:290:32:31

This is Rule The World.

0:32:310:32:32

# You light the skies up above me

0:32:440:32:51

# A star so bright you blind me

0:32:560:33:04

# Yeah

0:33:040:33:06

# Don't close your eyes

0:33:070:33:12

# Don't fade away

0:33:120:33:15

# Don't fade away

0:33:150:33:18

# Oh, yeah you and me we can ride on a star

0:33:180:33:25

# If you stay with me girl

0:33:250:33:28

# We can rule the world

0:33:280:33:32

APPLAUSE AND CHEERING

0:36:110:36:18

# You should know what you're fighting for

0:36:260:36:31

# Can't promise you all that perfect life... #

0:36:310:36:37

When we first started talking about this tour,

0:36:370:36:40

right from the word go, Howard wanted to step up

0:36:400:36:45

and do something which would showcase his movements.

0:36:450:36:50

He came in with the idea that it would be really nice to be

0:36:500:36:53

able to do something of that nature on this show.

0:36:530:36:56

I always knew how wonderful contemporary dance was.

0:36:560:36:59

I just thought, why can't we do something completely different

0:36:590:37:04

where no-one would expect us to do.

0:37:040:37:07

So the idea of doing it to Flaws, which, I'll be honest,

0:37:070:37:11

bit of a relief, because I thought, "Oh, that's funny, I've got to sing.

0:37:110:37:16

"OK, you guys get on with that."

0:37:160:37:18

# I have so many, so many flaws

0:37:180:37:25

# If you take me, if you take me, they're yours... #

0:37:250:37:32

None of us could dance in Jason's style.

0:37:320:37:34

Jason was always full of energy

0:37:340:37:36

and he would have been brilliant at this contemporary piece.

0:37:360:37:39

In a funny way, I feel like it is something we wanted to do for Jay.

0:37:390:37:44

I thought, well, contemporary is going to be a challenge.

0:37:450:37:49

We are either absolutely going to look rubbish or...

0:37:490:37:52

..or we're going to pass and get away with it.

0:37:520:37:56

At one point in rehearsals, we couldn't get it right

0:37:580:38:01

and we were getting all frustrated.

0:38:010:38:03

I remember Kim, at one point, saying,

0:38:030:38:05

"Stop thinking about the moves, stop thinking about it.

0:38:050:38:08

"Just listen to the words and express it."

0:38:080:38:11

For Kim to say that to us, usually, you're told, point, turn left,

0:38:110:38:14

turn right.

0:38:140:38:15

He was like, "It's not about that, it's about what you give

0:38:150:38:18

"and what you feel."

0:38:180:38:20

# Oh, I want to be a better man than I am

0:38:200:38:25

# Oh, I want to be the one who says he understands... #

0:38:250:38:32

It's very physical and it's again, trying to express your emotion

0:38:320:38:37

as you're doing it.

0:38:370:38:38

One of the worst things, is when you come off knackered

0:38:380:38:40

and you have to put these pants on that are really tight and you're

0:38:400:38:44

trying to pull them up your legs and your legs are all sweaty

0:38:440:38:48

and you're thinking,

0:38:480:38:49

"Oh, God, I just don't have the energy to even pull my pants up."

0:38:490:38:53

But, all worth it, so worth it.

0:38:550:38:57

Honestly, to see the work, the detail that they both put into that song,

0:39:070:39:13

right there, I knew we had the moment, then.

0:39:130:39:15

Where I'm stood, it's amazing. I love to watch it, as well.

0:39:170:39:21

It's a very fragile song, in a way, for us, and it gave us chance to

0:39:230:39:29

express ourselves and almost put the 20 years, the 23 years before,

0:39:290:39:34

into a piece. That's what I feel when I'm doing it.

0:39:340:39:37

I feel like it's our journey as a band.

0:39:370:39:40

And when Howard picks me up and I catch him,

0:39:400:39:42

I feel like that is what it's all about.

0:39:420:39:46

It's about friendship and looking after each other.

0:39:460:39:50

I guess we've done that, over the years, for each other, as a band.

0:39:500:39:54

All of us.

0:39:540:39:56

# Take me, take me, I'm yours. #

0:39:560:39:59

MUSIC: Million Love Songs.

0:40:110:40:15

# Oh man...#

0:40:180:40:22

The one thing I never used to do in the '90s,

0:40:220:40:25

was I never used to stop and go, "Wow, look where we are,

0:40:250:40:29

"We're in Denmark, we've started our European Tour."

0:40:290:40:32

I never did that. I was always a year ahead of everyone.

0:40:320:40:35

I know it used to drive the lads mad.

0:40:350:40:37

Everything was so fast and furious

0:40:370:40:40

and you didn't even have time to think. You didn't even have a life.

0:40:400:40:46

Life was Take That.

0:40:460:40:48

And because I was so busy looking ahead,

0:40:480:40:50

I never enjoyed what was right there.

0:40:500:40:53

I don't really remember having that time to take in where we were

0:40:530:40:56

or what we were doing.

0:40:560:40:58

I don't know whether I really, to be honest,

0:40:580:41:00

had the mental capacity to do that.

0:41:000:41:01

Everything was so fast. We were doing it for...

0:41:010:41:04

I don't know, I don't know what I was doing before that, then.

0:41:060:41:11

It was just like a machine, I think.

0:41:110:41:14

It always felt like everyone was out for themselves in the '90s.

0:41:160:41:20

It wasn't really bad, the first time, it was just really lost

0:41:200:41:23

when we were young.

0:41:230:41:24

You can just be more open, open with Mark and Gary and, you know, we talk

0:41:250:41:32

so much more about music and about writing and we're all so much...

0:41:320:41:36

So much more involved in everything.

0:41:370:41:41

I think the second time round, for us, it comes from down here,

0:41:410:41:44

you know everything comes and it hurts down here.

0:41:440:41:47

It never hurt the first time, but everything hurts here.

0:41:470:41:50

Right in the gut of your stomach and when something is great, you feel it

0:41:500:41:53

down here and when something is not great, you really feel it down here.

0:41:530:41:57

I've really made a point, nearly on a daily basis going,

0:41:570:42:01

"Wow, this is great, this is really brilliant to be here."

0:42:010:42:05

We used to go to them radio road shows

0:42:050:42:06

and there would be acts bigger than us on there.

0:42:060:42:09

But there was definitely a point, and I remember it, when we'd turn up

0:42:090:42:14

and I realised we're getting big now, because we were like...

0:42:140:42:18

They'd leave us till the end.

0:42:180:42:19

I remember that was the first time I sort of met Sonia, from the '80s.

0:42:190:42:24

-I was starstruck. She had a bit of a thing for you, didn't she?

-Shush!

0:42:240:42:29

Jimmy Somerville was in the audience, wasn't he?

0:42:330:42:35

I think word got around that he said, "They're not singing live."

0:42:350:42:39

You could tell we weren't singing live because we had these

0:42:400:42:44

little Tandy plastic microphones and some didn't even have the tops on.

0:42:440:42:49

Little wire dangling down at the bottom.

0:42:490:42:51

-We'd have one live mike between us.

-We'd pass it round.

0:42:510:42:54

We'd pass it round for different parts.

0:42:540:42:56

If Rob had to do a rap, we'd discreetly pass the mic

0:42:560:43:00

so he could do his rap and then to you.

0:43:000:43:02

Every time it came to me I'd go... And then it'd get taken away.

0:43:020:43:06

It would get taken off me quickly.

0:43:080:43:10

APPLAUSE AND CHEERING

0:47:590:48:04

The one piece I'm dreading, I do know it's round the corner,

0:48:090:48:14

is when nobody is interested in your new material.

0:48:140:48:17

It happens to everyone, it happens to the best artists in the world.

0:48:170:48:22

There's no band without the audience.

0:48:220:48:24

As soon as they step out and say, that's enough, it all collapses,

0:48:240:48:30

it's all over.

0:48:300:48:31

I have no idea what to do with myself if I wasn't doing this.

0:48:330:48:37

The only other thing I know, is going back to repairing cars

0:48:370:48:40

or DJ-ing and I don't want to go back to repairing cars

0:48:400:48:43

and I don't want to end up being a grandad behind the decks.

0:48:430:48:48

MUSIC

0:48:480:48:51

It'll be sad when the tour's over. It really will.

0:48:570:49:01

I walked into work today.

0:49:030:49:06

-How you doing?

-Good. Last night.

0:49:060:49:08

Oh, my! Howard!

0:49:100:49:14

Look at Howard up there with his hat on.

0:49:160:49:19

-We can let them off after. Sparklers.

-Can you really?

0:49:190:49:23

Do you always wonder, when will this just be a memory?

0:49:230:49:26

When will you be looking back, going, "Wow, I remember when we used

0:49:260:49:30

"to tour and we used to play Milan

0:49:300:49:31

"and we used to play all these places."

0:49:310:49:33

# All the things we had

0:49:350:49:38

# Never understood... #

0:49:380:49:42

# At times it cuts me up

0:49:440:49:47

# Thinking of you

0:49:470:49:49

# All the hopes I've got

0:49:490:49:52

# Wasted on you... #

0:49:520:49:55

She has to do my tie because I can't remember how to do them.

0:49:550:49:58

At school, I used to have one of those that clipped on.

0:49:580:50:02

Last time, dickie bow. Last time, waistcoat. Last time, watch.

0:50:020:50:08

Right, let's do this.

0:50:110:50:12

MUSIC

0:50:170:50:23

A lot of people here know it's the last show, so, should be a good one.

0:50:230:50:27

Thank you very much for everything. Cheers, mate.

0:50:310:50:33

I saw Howard had his eyes closed and he looked like he was almost

0:50:330:50:37

meditating and getting himself into a place

0:50:370:50:40

and I saw Gaz doing his thing to get himself ready.

0:50:400:50:43

I saw how much it meant to them.

0:50:430:50:45

I was seeing all the people milling around and all the wardrobe

0:50:450:50:50

and where the costumes are and I was thinking,

0:50:500:50:54

this is all for us three, this.

0:50:540:50:57

Sometimes you have to pinch yourself and get a grip of it.

0:50:570:51:01

So many months ago, it was all just starting with little ideas

0:51:010:51:05

and little drawings on pieces of paper and then it's travelled all

over Europe and so many people have been involved,

0:51:090:51:12

and then in it all comes to an end.

0:51:120:51:14

It's a little bit crazy, really.

# Get ready for it

0:51:390:51:41

# Oh

0:51:410:51:43

# Get ready for it

0:51:470:51:49

# Oh

0:51:490:51:52

# Get ready for it... #

0:51:560:51:59

It's been harder than most, this last 12 months

0:51:590:52:02

and we've got there, we've done it.

0:52:020:52:05

I'm proud of the fact that the three of us have got together

0:52:150:52:18

and we've made this show happen.

0:52:180:52:20

It could've been a different story.

0:52:200:52:22

I don't want it to be over now, because we're getting near the end.

0:52:280:52:32

Oh, well, all good things come to an end.

0:52:350:52:38

# We've come so far and we've reached so high

0:52:540:53:00

# And we've looked each day and night in the eye

0:53:000:53:05

# And we're still so young and we hope for more

0:53:050:53:11

# We've come a long way but we're not too sure where we've been

0:53:130:53:20

# We've had success and we've had good times but remember this

0:53:220:53:31

# Been on this path of life for so long

0:53:310:53:38

# Feel I've walked a thousand miles

0:53:380:53:44

# Sometimes strolled hand in hand with love

0:53:440:53:49

# Everybody's been there

0:53:490:53:52

# With danger on my mind I would stay on the line of hope

0:53:520:53:59

# I knew I could make it

0:53:590:54:03

# Once I knew the boundaries I looked into the clouds and saw

0:54:030:54:09

# My face in the moonlight

0:54:090:54:13

# Just then I realised what a fool I could be

0:54:130:54:18

# Just cause I look so high I don't have to see me

0:54:180:54:24

# Finding a paradise wasn't easy but still

0:54:240:54:28

# There's a road going down the other side of this hill

0:54:280:54:34

# Never forget where you've come here from

0:54:340:54:39

# Never pretend that it's all real

0:54:390:54:44

# Someday soon this will be someone else's dream

0:54:440:54:51

# This will be someone else's dream

0:54:510:54:55

# Safe from the arms of disappointment for so long

0:54:550:55:01

# Feel each day we've come too far

0:55:010:55:07

# Yet each day seems to make much more

0:55:070:55:12

# Sure is good to be here

0:55:120:55:15

# I understand the meaning of I can't explain this feeling

0:55:150:55:20

# Now it feels so unreal

0:55:200:55:25

# At night I see the hand that reminds me of the stand I make

0:55:250:55:32

# The fact of reality

0:55:320:55:36

# Never forget where you've come here from

0:55:360:55:41

# Never pretend that it's all real

0:55:410:55:46

# Someday soon this will be someone else's dream

0:55:460:55:53

# This will be someone else's dream

0:55:530:55:57

# We've come so far and we've reached so high

0:55:570:56:03

# And we've looked each day and night in the eye

0:56:030:56:09

# And we're not so young but we hope for more

0:56:090:56:15

# But remember this

0:56:150:56:18

# We're not invincible

0:56:180:56:20

# We're not invincible

0:56:200:56:23

# No

0:56:230:56:24

# We're only people

0:56:240:56:26

# We're only people

0:56:260:56:29

# Hey we're not invincible

0:56:290:56:32

# We're not invincible

0:56:320:56:35

One last time, come on!

0:56:350:56:37

# So again I'll tell you

0:56:370:56:39

# Never forget where you've come here from

0:56:390:56:43

# Never pretend that it's all real

0:56:430:56:48

# Someday soon this will be someone else's dream

0:56:480:56:55

0:56:550:56:59

0:56:590:57:03

# Never no never

0:57:040:57:06

# Never forget no, no

0:57:060:57:09

# Someday

0:57:090:57:13

# Oh

0:57:160:57:18

# Never

0:57:200:57:22

0:57:220:57:25

# Never

0:57:250:57:27

# Na, na, na, na, na, na, na

0:57:270:57:30

# Come on, come on

# Everybody, everybody

0:57:330:57:35

# Everybody, everybody

0:57:350:57:37
