For months you've been voting in your thousands. The votes have now | :00:47. | :01:36.
been counted and verified on behalf of the National Lottery. From seven | :01:36. | :01:39.
categories we have seven worthy winners. We'll also have very | :01:39. | :01:43.
special music performances from one of the hottest acts of the moment, | :01:43. | :01:47.
Union J, and none other than rock legend Mr Rod Stewart! In the last | :01:47. | :01:55.
19 years The National Lottery has generated a whopping £30bn for over | :01:55. | :02:02.
400,000 projects throughout the UK. Our first award is for best arts | :02:02. | :02:05.
project, and who better to present it than a star of stage and screen | :02:05. | :02:12.
for the past three decades? Please welcome Jason Donovan! | :02:12. | :02:30.
This year's first winner is a fantastic example of a community | :02:30. | :02:34.
coming together to get their collective voice heard. And what a | :02:34. | :02:38.
voice! The Misfits Theatre Company are a wonderfully charismatic group | :02:38. | :02:44.
who all have learning difficulties. I was intrigued by the project and | :02:44. | :02:48.
went down to Bristol to meet them Great | :02:48. | :03:03.
rehearsing and they have absolutely no idea that I am here. Let's go | :03:03. | :03:21.
upstairs. Sounds good. Fantastic! Congratulations! Come here. You are | :03:21. | :03:32.
the winner of the best arts project. Congratulations. Misfits Theatre | :03:32. | :03:42.
Company is a unique theatre company run by people with learning | :03:42. | :03:44.
difficulties for people with learning difficulties to explore | :03:45. | :03:49.
their own creativity. They can give out into the local community and | :03:49. | :03:52.
tell the world what it is like having a learning difficulty, and | :03:52. | :03:57.
show off and be the people that they are. You do more than perform. We | :03:57. | :04:05.
show off and be the people that they have experienced bullying and | :04:05. | :04:07.
name-calling in our lives, we want to change her sections of how we | :04:07. | :04:16.
want to be treated. -- perceptions. How do you do that? Send out | :04:16. | :04:23.
messages to organisations and schools to tell them that | :04:23. | :04:26.
name-calling is not on. Today we were rehearsing for a play that I | :04:26. | :04:33.
wrote myself. How would you feel if I played the Dragon? I can be angry. | :04:33. | :04:43.
I like coming here because I like my friends and I like acting. There are | :04:43. | :04:52.
characters I can become. Being part of Misfits is really | :04:52. | :05:14.
awesome. I really enjoy coming here, acting and performing. I | :05:14. | :05:22.
really love it. I have had a very special day with you so thank you | :05:22. | :05:26.
for sharing it with me. Shall we take a bow? APPLAUSE. | :05:26. | :05:42.
Hello, everyone. I would just like to say a big thank you to everyone | :05:42. | :05:50.
that has voted for us. Our family, friends, everyone that works with | :05:50. | :05:59.
us. It has meant such a lot to the Misfits and it also means a lot to | :05:59. | :06:04.
me. I would like to say thank you very much to Jason for coming to | :06:04. | :06:09.
Bristol and meeting us. He was amazing. | :06:09. | :06:17.
Education, education, education. Some things are worth repeating. We | :06:17. | :06:23.
all remember our favourite childhood book, mine was Ginger's Adventures | :06:23. | :06:26.
by AJ Macgregor, and how those books fed our imagination. Inspiring a | :06:26. | :06:30.
love of reading across generations, Seven Stories is the National Centre | :06:30. | :06:33.
For Children's Books. Their mission is to save, share and celebrate our | :06:33. | :06:36.
rich heritage of children's literature. When Mollie King from | :06:36. | :06:41.
The Saturdays heard about it she couldn't wait to get to Newcastle | :06:41. | :06:52.
and share their wonderful story. I'm here in Newcastle at the Place cold | :06:52. | :06:56.
Seven Stories who have won the national lottery award. They have no | :06:56. | :07:01.
idea that I'm here. I am so excited to meet them all. Let's go and do | :07:01. | :07:13.
it. I am going in. The Raft glided smoothly over the water. I am here | :07:13. | :07:19.
to tell you that you guys have won the national lottery award. I can | :07:19. | :07:28.
believe it, I am absolutely thrilled. Thank you so much. -- I | :07:28. | :07:37.
cannot believe it. I am dyslexic, I found reading really difficult. It | :07:37. | :07:45.
is a big part to make reading more enjoyable. Absolutely. We have | :07:45. | :07:51.
different exhibitions, we have this space where we have story telling | :07:51. | :07:56.
and performance, we have a creation Station downstairs where you can do | :07:56. | :08:00.
craft activities, and we have outreach work. It sounds like you | :08:00. | :08:04.
have so much going on. I have to take a look around. The biggest part | :08:04. | :08:10.
is creating a world for children, getting them to act and play, enjoy | :08:10. | :08:19.
themselves. I made an animal puppet. My little girl gets loads out of | :08:19. | :08:23.
it. She loves her books. It is worth coming. There is so much going on | :08:23. | :08:27.
here you never know what you're going to see. What are you up to? We | :08:27. | :08:36.
are sailing to a far-off land. Who is this? Dragon.My gosh! Have you | :08:36. | :08:47.
had a good day? Yes.I am going to tell you a story. Once upon a time | :08:47. | :08:52.
there were lots children just like you do realise how lucky they were | :08:52. | :08:57.
to have a place like this right on their doorstep, and they all lived | :08:57. | :08:59.
happily ever after. Congratulations. The podium is all | :08:59. | :09:14.
yours. What a privilege. As you know, these are the most inspiring | :09:14. | :09:21.
and inventive books in the world. With the help of the National | :09:21. | :09:24.
Lottery we have created a home for children's literature in Newcastle. | :09:24. | :09:26.
With this we hope we can share the children's literature in Newcastle. | :09:26. | :09:31.
joy and love of reading with families and children not just in | :09:31. | :09:35.
the north-east but across the UK. Thank you so much to everyone who | :09:35. | :09:36.
voted for us. Rod Stewart will be performing on | :09:36. | :09:47.
this stage soon but before that it's time for the Heritage Award. Here to | :09:47. | :09:54.
present it, please roll out the red carpet and give a very special Royle | :09:54. | :09:56.
welcome to Ricky Tomlinson. Hello! The last time I stood in | :09:56. | :10:16.
front of a crowd like this I got two years in jail. | :10:16. | :10:21.
Being an ex-builder I can truly appreciate how amazing the Gartnavel | :10:21. | :10:25.
Chapel Cancer Support Centre in Glasgow truly is. But don't let me | :10:25. | :10:31.
rabbit on, a couple of weeks ago I went to surprise them and had a look | :10:31. | :10:35.
around. I think the film speaks for itself. I'm Ricky Tomlinson and I am | :10:35. | :10:43.
here in Glasgow to prevent -- present this award. It is hard to | :10:43. | :10:49.
believe this chapel was once a derelict shell. Thankfully it was | :10:49. | :10:54.
restored and is now home to this charity. The volunteers are inside | :10:54. | :10:59.
having a meeting. I think we should gate-crash. Come and join me. | :10:59. | :11:06.
Welcome to Cancer Support Scotland. Thank you for turning out. Hello! | :11:06. | :11:14.
You are not expecting to see me today. You don't know why I am here. | :11:14. | :11:22.
Come here. I am here because you have won this very special award. | :11:22. | :11:24.
You have won the Heritage award. It is absolutely brilliant to win | :11:24. | :11:35.
this award. Without a building like this we cannot deliver the services | :11:36. | :11:38.
we offer to so many people affected by cancer. I have had a good look | :11:38. | :11:45.
around and as an ex-builder I am absolutely thrilled with the way you | :11:45. | :11:48.
have renovated this place. It is wonderful. It is fantastic we have | :11:48. | :11:53.
been able to bring a building back to use. The building when we walked | :11:53. | :11:57.
into it was on a per estate. The building windows were boarded up and | :11:57. | :12:05.
it was leaking. -- per estate. What we are doing is something very | :12:05. | :12:11.
unique. We provide services, relaxation, comp entry therapies, | :12:11. | :12:18.
support groups, other things. My dad died at the age of 55 with cancer | :12:18. | :12:22.
but we never spoke about it. It is important people share their | :12:22. | :12:28.
experiences. Tell me how Carnaval has helped you. I found I was | :12:28. | :12:33.
released or killing with my diagnosis. -- Gartnavel. Coming here | :12:33. | :12:40.
and being able to off-load things that I cannot say to my friends and | :12:40. | :12:46.
family is really useful. Coming here was like a haven. Getting a mass | :12:47. | :12:54.
as, forgetting what was going on. It is very expensive in the outside | :12:54. | :12:59.
world. You get it free of charge. You don't have to pay anything. | :12:59. | :13:06.
Congratulations to all here for the restoration work done on this old | :13:06. | :13:09.
building and I think you all deserve a cheer. Hip hip, hooray! | :13:09. | :13:25.
It looked like you had a wonderful day. I did. But looking at this | :13:25. | :13:35.
person, I lost my dad. To see the youngsters helping out, doing the | :13:35. | :13:39.
gardens. It was one of the best days out I have ever had. How does | :13:39. | :13:45.
it feel, to be voted the Heritage Award winner? Is has been fantastic. | :13:45. | :13:54.
One of the best aspects is that it has raised the profile of the | :13:54. | :14:01.
Glasgow building federation trust. We are thrilled that so many people | :14:01. | :14:08.
voted for us and we would like to say thanks for generating the votes. | :14:08. | :14:14.
It is nice to see a winner from Glasgow. I am Glaswegian myself. | :14:14. | :14:25.
Congratulations. It has been a great night there are plenty of | :14:26. | :14:28.
celebrity surprises to come. Union J are performing later. But now, | :14:28. | :14:32.
this is a man who has sold over 150 million records. From his platinum- | :14:32. | :14:35.
selling album Time, he is singing Can't Stop Me Now. Ladies and | :14:35. | :14:47.
gentlemen, Mr Rod Stewart. # I stood up straight and sang. For the | :14:47. | :14:51.
record company man. My enthusiasm filled the room. I was young and I | :14:51. | :14:58.
was keen. With a devil in my stream. As I hollered out an old blues tune. | :14:58. | :15:06.
We can't sign you, son. Cos you don't fit in the mould. It's your | :15:06. | :15:08.
We can't sign you, son. Cos you hair, your nose and your clothes. I | :15:08. | :15:14.
said thank you gentlemen for this opportunity and moved on down the | :15:14. | :15:23.
road. And I remember I used to say. They can't stop me now, the world | :15:23. | :15:27.
is waiting. It's my turn to stand out in the crowd. They can't stop | :15:27. | :15:30.
me now, the tide is turning. I'm gonna make you proud. So proud. It | :15:30. | :15:50.
was rough and it was tough. But I couldn't get enough of this rhythm | :15:50. | :15:52.
was rough and it was tough. But I and blues I craved. I was singing | :15:52. | :15:55.
in the pubs, singing in the clubs. Then along came Maggie May. All the | :15:55. | :16:03.
things they said to me and all the things I heard. I had a point to | :16:03. | :16:13.
prove. I will climb this mountain with this God-given gift. If it's | :16:13. | :16:16.
the last thing that I do. And I remember thinking. They can't stop | :16:16. | :16:21.
me now the world is waiting. It's remember thinking. They can't stop | :16:21. | :16:26.
my turn to stand out in the crowd. They can't stop me now the tide is | :16:26. | :16:41.
turning. I'm gonna make you proud. They can't stop me now the world is | :16:41. | :16:48.
waiting. It's my turn to stand out in the crowd. They can't stop me | :16:48. | :16:52.
now the tide is turning. I'm gonna make you proud. Born to ramble. | :16:52. | :16:57.
Born to sing in a new world of rock 'n' roll. One man in particular | :16:57. | :17:05.
filled my heart with pride. And he fired up my soul. Thanks for the | :17:05. | :17:15.
faith. Thanks for the patience. Thanks for the helping hand. Thanks | :17:15. | :17:22.
for the love. Thanks for the guidance. | :17:22. | :17:43.
Thanks for the tartan pride. They can't stop me now the world is | :17:43. | :17:46.
waiting. It's my turn to stand out in the | :17:46. | :17:50.
crowd. They can't stop me now the tide is | :17:50. | :17:52.
turning. I'm gonna make you proud#. APPLAUSE. The next award is the | :17:52. | :18:18.
favourite sports project. Here to present it, they truly | :18:18. | :18:23.
inspirational sporting star, gold medal winner at the London 2012 | :18:23. | :18:27.
Olympics and were then MBE, Nicky Adams. -- Nicola Adams. This is a | :18:27. | :18:38.
special award for me because I am president of the winning project, | :18:38. | :18:41.
US Girls. And it fills me with pride to see them honoured tonight. | :18:41. | :18:45.
In this film, one of my Team GB mates surprised them at a | :18:45. | :18:47.
In this film, one of my Team GB in Manchester. I am Victoria | :18:47. | :18:51.
Pendleton to surprise US Girls, which aims to get young women from | :18:51. | :18:56.
disadvantaged areas more active. Sport has been a huge part of my | :18:56. | :19:01.
life. I cannot wait to tell them they have made it on to the | :19:01. | :19:14.
winner's podium. Here goes. I am here to award you with the National | :19:14. | :19:31.
Lottery Sports Award. Well done! US Girls is a national programme aimed | :19:32. | :19:36.
to get girls involved in sport and it works in 60 locations in England, | :19:36. | :19:41.
mainly deprived communities, and the aim is to get girls who perhaps | :19:41. | :19:47.
have not played sport before to play sport. I know nothing about | :19:47. | :19:53.
football. Show me a drill and I will give it a go. Many have not | :19:53. | :19:59.
have the opportunity to take part in sport. They have had low | :19:59. | :20:03.
confidence, low self-esteem, and without the funding the programme | :20:03. | :20:08.
would not exist. I am lucky because I grew up in a sporty household. | :20:08. | :20:13.
Not many people are lucky enough to have the influence in the family. I | :20:13. | :20:17.
suppose that is what you are providing. The leaders are so | :20:17. | :20:21.
important. They have contact with the girls every day and that | :20:21. | :20:25.
relationship makes them feel important and gives them a sense of | :20:25. | :20:36.
achievement. Yd love coming here? I have a high functioning form of | :20:36. | :20:41.
autism. I suffer from anxiety. I would not ordinarily anticipate in | :20:41. | :20:47.
things. Because there is less pressure to socialise, I think I am | :20:47. | :20:52.
able to do it and enjoy it at the same time. I gained confidence by | :20:52. | :20:58.
coming here and I can take it into normal life, going to jobs, meeting | :20:58. | :21:02.
new people. I do not feel as nervous. It is great. A massive | :21:02. | :21:10.
congratulations to everybody at US Girls. It shows that with | :21:10. | :21:15.
determination and focus, everyone can be a winner. Isn't that right? | :21:15. | :21:26.
I am proud to be accepting the award. I would like to credit | :21:26. | :21:31.
street games, the national charity who work with young people in areas | :21:31. | :21:36.
of disadvantage. And US Girls was there to tackle the gender gap in | :21:36. | :21:41.
sport. I would like to say a massive thank you to the coaches | :21:41. | :21:49.
and volunteers involved. -- their work week in and week out to help | :21:49. | :21:54.
girls to succeed. And I would like to thank the girls involved. | :21:54. | :21:58.
Fortunately, they came out and voted for us and we are grateful to | :21:58. | :22:03.
them and everybody who voted. Thank you. London 2012 Olympics and | :22:03. | :22:13.
Paralympics were an amazing success. Team GB won its greatest medal | :22:13. | :22:17.
total for over 100 years. National Lottery players contributed £2.2 | :22:17. | :22:19.
billion that went into staging the greatest show on earth. Your money | :22:19. | :22:25.
made it possible for 1300 elite athletes to train full-time and | :22:25. | :22:27.
benefit from some of the best coaching in the world. It was not | :22:27. | :22:34.
all about sport, you also helped to fund the biggest national arts | :22:34. | :22:37.
festival ever staged. One year on, the question is, what is the legacy | :22:37. | :22:43.
of 2012 now? How has it inspired not just elite athletes but people | :22:43. | :22:47.
like you and me? I think you will enjoy this. | :22:47. | :23:02.
He has got to find something extra. I think he is going to get their! | :23:02. | :23:13.
Two gold medals. Beautiful! The place erupts. He is the double | :23:13. | :23:17.
Olympic champion. I was picked for the squad in | :23:17. | :23:31.
Atlanta. Watching the Paralympics and able-bodied. It came back, we | :23:31. | :23:42.
could still be doing that. Through lottery-funded disability sport we | :23:42. | :23:46.
have been able to set up the basketball club. It is the best | :23:46. | :23:50.
thing I have done since 1996. It got me back into sport. Sport gave | :23:50. | :23:55.
me focus and gives me a purpose to get up in the morning. It makes you | :23:55. | :24:02.
feel alive. They Lottery has funded by a London 2012 conditions. The | :24:02. | :24:08.
Olympics and Paralympics gave me the opportunity to do projects I | :24:08. | :24:11.
could not have believed could have been possible. I have had a lung | :24:11. | :24:18.
condition. For the past six years I have been losing my eyesight. There | :24:18. | :24:23.
are huge challenges. There is no doubt the Paralympics created the | :24:23. | :24:27.
biggest cultural shift in disability in the whole of the | :24:27. | :24:31.
world. We are individuals. It does not matter who you are. Everybody | :24:31. | :24:36.
is important. Each individual has gone through a journey to get to | :24:36. | :24:41.
where they are and for me, that is inspirational. To say it was a | :24:41. | :24:47.
defining moment would be an understatement. For me, it felt | :24:47. | :24:53.
like everything I ever work towards, ever -- every dream I had, it boils | :24:53. | :24:59.
down to six minutes on the platform. I can remember every moment and all | :24:59. | :25:04.
of the emotions, running wild. And the roar of the crowd, the details | :25:04. | :25:08.
that will stay with me for the rest of my life. When you watch on TV, | :25:08. | :25:14.
it inspires you. The first time I came here, there were a lot of | :25:14. | :25:20.
tyres around the track. It was a small space. Now they have built a | :25:21. | :25:25.
new track and more people are coming here. The aim is to become | :25:25. | :25:36.
new track and more people are an Olympic athlete. The aim was to | :25:36. | :25:41.
inspire a generation and I feel we have done that. I was inspired. I | :25:41. | :26:01.
was inspired. I was inspired. With me now is Natasha Baker, the | :26:01. | :26:04.
Team GB para-equestrian. You won double gold at the London 2012 | :26:04. | :26:12.
Paralympics. I have never touched a gold medal like that. How much of a | :26:12. | :26:18.
life changer is that? I never imagined that 15 minutes in the a | :26:18. | :26:23.
reader would change my life so much. I have been to Buckingham Palace | :26:23. | :26:26.
several times and I have met the Queen. Several times! And I now | :26:26. | :26:33.
have nd after my name. The most special thing is going to schools | :26:33. | :26:42.
and inspiring the next generation - - MBE. I am proud I have done this | :26:42. | :26:50.

Where is Mandy! I am here to tell year, Ichthyosis Support Group has | :28:38. | :28:43.
won the National Lottery health award. Congratulations to you and | :28:43. | :28:54.
to everyone. Well done. Ichthyosis is a rare genetic skin condition. | :28:54. | :29:00.
People with ichthyosis have extremely dry, flaky skin. People | :29:00. | :29:06.
do not realise the effort that goes into having a skin condition. If | :29:06. | :29:14.
you not -- if you do not use cream and treat your skin it becomes very | :29:14. | :29:19.
painful. Her did you come across the grim? Through the internet. | :29:19. | :29:29.
Own -- the group? I get to find out more about medication I contrive. | :29:29. | :29:44.
It is great. In it is lovely to talk to you. You are my favourite! | :29:44. | :29:50.
Are what would you say to somebody who asks about your skin? That your | :29:50. | :30:02.
works -- your skin works a little bit? Do friendly.That's right. -- | :30:02. | :30:16.
differently. What is going on? It is clear to see you have had a | :30:16. | :30:21.
wonderful time. Do you score a seven? | :30:21. | :30:34.
It is extremely overwhelming to win the award. Thanks for coming down | :30:34. | :30:39.
to see us at Reading. It is overwhelming. It is an amazing | :30:39. | :30:44.
opportunity to raise awareness for this rare condition, which can be | :30:44. | :30:50.
debilitating. It is so important for everyone to learn about it. We | :30:50. | :30:55.
would like to thank the national lottery and we would also like to | :30:55. | :31:00.
give a huge thanks to members, families and supporters for | :31:00. | :31:03.
campaigning and for voting for us and we would like to accept this | :31:04. | :31:09.
award on behalf of everybody with ichthyosis, and particularly for | :31:09. | :31:18.
those we have lost to the condition. Thank you very much. It means an | :31:18. | :31:25.
awful lot. And now for the 6th award of the | :31:25. | :31:29.
night, for voluntary charity. Here to present it is somebody who has | :31:29. | :31:35.
the X Factor. Please welcome, Jahmene Douglas. The winners of the | :31:35. | :31:48.
award are a special project, My Sister's Place. The ethos is simple, | :31:48. | :31:54.
women should have the right to live free of any violence. I feel | :31:54. | :31:59.
strongly because my mother witnessed domestic violence. A few | :31:59. | :32:04.
weeks ago, I surprised them with an award. Take a look. | :32:04. | :32:14.
This deals with the subject of domestic violence which I have dealt | :32:14. | :32:20.
with for many years. They are having a meeting inside and I am going to | :32:20. | :32:21.
surprise them. You have one the | :32:21. | :32:43.
voluntary project. We are a one-stop shop, woman only service, we see | :32:43. | :32:49.
women 16 years of age and over who have suffered or are suffering | :32:49. | :32:55.
domestic violence. The job today is how many people we can tell about | :32:55. | :32:59.
what we do, why it is important and what they can do. This is so close | :32:59. | :33:05.
to my heart. To do anything involving stopping domestic | :33:05. | :33:08.
violence, I am on it. For children it is really difficult. I know you | :33:08. | :33:12.
were quite young when you were quite young when you're going through | :33:12. | :33:18.
this. It was me and three of my other siblings, the help was not | :33:18. | :33:22.
there. I am trying to stress how important it is that children have | :33:22. | :33:24.
that environment and someone to talk to. The first time he hit me I was | :33:24. | :33:31.
shocked but I thought, I did go on a bit and he is tired. You just blame | :33:31. | :33:38.
yourself, but over the years you start to think it is not right. One | :33:38. | :33:43.
day I thought I could not do it any more and put the children through | :33:43. | :33:44.
it. They do not deserve it and they more and put the children through | :33:44. | :33:50.
were only little. I did not want to cry, it is because I feel so guilty | :33:50. | :33:56.
for not leaving earlier. In the ten years I have been here nearly a day | :33:57. | :34:02.
never goes by when I do not sit by someone and am not surprised by | :34:02. | :34:09.
their resilience. All the years of counselling, I have been on | :34:09. | :34:12.
confidence building courses, Freedom courses, it is the best thing that | :34:12. | :34:19.
happened to me and my children. Sorry. I would like to congratulate | :34:19. | :34:26.
this place on giving a voice to the voiceless and power to people who | :34:26. | :34:29.
cannot speak up themselves. Three cheers. | :34:29. | :34:45.
I am very proud of you guys, very proud. Is there anyone you would | :34:45. | :34:51.
like to say thank you to? I guess we would like to thank U because you | :34:51. | :34:56.
are a fantastic ambassador for would like to thank U because you | :34:56. | :35:03.
domestic violence. -- you. Working really hard to raise awareness. | :35:03. | :35:08.
Thank you to the lottery, it has been a fantastic opportunity to | :35:08. | :35:12.
raise awareness of domestic violence. We are a small independent | :35:12. | :35:17.
charity that, against the odds, made more progress than we thought we | :35:17. | :35:20.
would. It has been wonderful, thank you. Amazing. | :35:20. | :35:30.
The last award is for the environment full of -- the | :35:31. | :35:40.
environment. Sustrans is a charity that received a lottery grant for a | :35:40. | :35:44.
project to build new bridges and traffic and walking routes around | :35:44. | :35:47.
the UK. We went to see one of these traffic and walking routes around | :35:47. | :35:54.
amazing structures in Cardiff. Sustrans's project has transformed | :35:54. | :35:59.
travel across the UK with 84 projects like this one, this | :35:59. | :36:05.
magnificent bridge. Up there there is an event going on. What they | :36:05. | :36:09.
don't know is that I am sneaking in with this. Excuse me, sorry. I am | :36:09. | :36:16.
looking for Malcolm Shepherd. Very nice to meet you. I'd like to | :36:16. | :36:22.
announce to everybody that Sustrans got over 10,000 votes. You have won. | :36:22. | :36:38.
That's brilliant. That is fantastic. Can you explain what Connect To is? | :36:38. | :36:49.
They are project UK wide to Can you explain what Connect To is? | :36:49. | :36:55.
encourage people to walk and cycle more. There are bridges, tunnels, | :36:55. | :37:00.
people travelling from all around the UK to visit this. I am going to | :37:01. | :37:03.
try this bridge out myself. How has this bridge changed your | :37:03. | :37:13.
journey? It has transformed it. It has joined the two communities. | :37:13. | :37:18.
There is a dual carriageway and it was not safe for a child to be on. | :37:18. | :37:23.
Is it fun to be on the back of the bike with your dad? Is he quit? | :37:23. | :37:28.
Downhill. Is it good for non-cyclists? Fantastic. We don't | :37:29. | :37:35.
need to worry about traffic and it links us to a lot more routes. Does | :37:35. | :37:44.
it make it easier to make travel choices that are more environmental? | :37:44. | :37:49.
Yes, people think about getting on their bikes for a shorter journey. | :37:49. | :37:57.
We can all do it. Here in Cardiff, Connect To has literally bridged a | :37:57. | :38:01.
community. Let's raise our glasses and the bridge to Sustrans and a | :38:01. | :38:02.
great success story. Malcolm, I had no idea. I have a | :38:02. | :38:20.
house very near that bridge in Cardiff. I had no idea that was part | :38:20. | :38:25.
of the project. It is amazing. It is a great bridge. You enjoyed | :38:25. | :38:30.
yourself? We had an amazing day with Kate and the filming crew. All the | :38:30. | :38:34.
people joined in from the community as well. It reflected the impact it | :38:34. | :38:40.
had on the community. Who would you like to say thank you about winning | :38:40. | :38:49.
this award? Without the funding money from the National Lottery, | :38:49. | :38:52.
this would not have been possible, but also all the people who voted | :38:52. | :38:56.
for us, who made sure we could deliver these projects on time, | :38:56. | :38:58.
without them this would not have happened. Ike Machen graduation is, | :38:58. | :39:05.
and you look good on a yacht. -- congratulations. | :39:05. | :39:11.
