Hello and welcome to Leinster,

0:00:020:00:04

a pretty market town in North Hertfordshire.

0:00:040:00:07

Put on the map by one of these chaps as an important woollen centre.

0:00:070:00:12

This is a Ryeland,

0:00:120:00:13

one of the oldest breeds of English sheep

0:00:130:00:17

and known locally by the nickname of Lemster Ore.

0:00:170:00:21

Think gold.

0:00:210:00:23

But will our teams today spin a profit

0:00:230:00:25

or will they have the wool pulled over their eyes?

0:00:250:00:29

Let's go Bargain Hunting.

0:00:290:00:31

Leinster is a charming town with medieval buildings,

0:00:550:00:59

book shops, cafes and, most importantly,

0:00:590:01:02

an abundance of antique stores.

0:01:020:01:04

And that's exactly what we're here for.

0:01:070:01:09

Now, as you know, each team gets £300

0:01:090:01:12

and one hour to buy three items

0:01:120:01:15

that, hopefully, will return them a profit when they take it to auction.

0:01:150:01:18

But before all that,

0:01:180:01:20

let's take a sneaky peak at what's coming up next.

0:01:200:01:23

The Reds won't splash the cash.

0:01:240:01:26

How much? £4!

0:01:260:01:29

Me thinks you're looking to spend low.

0:01:290:01:31

The Blues are getting up close and personal.

0:01:320:01:35

-Are you going to wash my back? As I pat...

-Oh.

-Yeah?

0:01:350:01:37

And at today's auction, will the gamble pay off for our Reds?

0:01:410:01:45

-Oh!

-There you go.

0:01:450:01:47

Or are the Blues in with a chance?

0:01:470:01:50

-Aww.

-Shame, shame, shame - in that order.

0:01:500:01:53

Well, all that is coming up later, but let's meet today's teams

0:01:540:01:59

and, today, we're keeping it in the family.

0:01:590:02:02

-For the Reds, we've got brothers, Ron and Sam.

-Hello.

0:02:020:02:05

For the Blues, we've got sisters, Doreen and Brenda.

0:02:050:02:08

-Hello. ALL:

-Hello!

0:02:080:02:10

-Ron.

-Yes?

-Tell me, what is it like being Sam's brother?

0:02:100:02:14

Not just brother, twin brother.

0:02:140:02:16

Twin - hang on, let me work this out.

0:02:160:02:19

-Twin brothers.

-Twin brothers.

-Oh, right.

0:02:190:02:21

-Two hours' difference. Mm-hm.

-So two hours extra to grow.

0:02:210:02:25

-Well, he made the most of it, didn't he?

-He did make the most of it.

0:02:250:02:28

-I've been waiting for him to shrink back, but he hasn't done yet.

-Right.

0:02:280:02:31

So you've retired now, but what were you doing in the way of a job?

0:02:310:02:35

I was a property maintenance manager at Shugborough Hall,

0:02:350:02:37

Patrick Lichfield's estate, yeah, for nearly 30 years.

0:02:370:02:41

What about hobbies and suchlike?

0:02:410:02:44

I love crown green bowling,

0:02:440:02:46

I've been doing that for about four years

0:02:460:02:48

and also indoor short mat bowling.

0:02:480:02:50

I like fishing, coarse fishing and I do like travelling as well.

0:02:500:02:54

So, Sam, what about your hobbies these days?

0:02:540:02:57

Gardening, trout fishing.

0:02:570:02:59

That's mainly about all I do at the moment.

0:02:590:03:02

-Right.

-I do enjoy my trout fishing.

0:03:020:03:04

So what did you do before you retired?

0:03:040:03:06

I was a CNC sliding head machine tool setter and programmer.

0:03:060:03:10

Hang on - CNC, forgive me, what is that?

0:03:100:03:13

Computer numerical control.

0:03:130:03:16

Oh, right. Did you know that, Blues?

0:03:160:03:18

-Not at all.

-Not a clue.

-OK. That makes me feel so much better.

0:03:180:03:21

-Makes you feel better, yeah.

-Right.

-Yeah.

0:03:210:03:23

Having said that, you're going to be putting your heart and soul

0:03:230:03:26

into the world of antiques today.

0:03:260:03:28

-Oh, yes.

-Definitely, definitely.

0:03:280:03:30

Have you come up with any form of tactics?

0:03:300:03:33

-We want the golden gavel.

-You do.

-Oh, that's the prime object.

0:03:330:03:37

Is it? Right.

0:03:370:03:38

-We're going for that, mainly.

-Going for gold.

-Yes.

-OK.

0:03:380:03:43

Well, we wish you the best of luck, but turning my attention

0:03:430:03:46

to the Blues and, Doreen, good morning.

0:03:460:03:48

-Good morning.

-Good morning.

0:03:480:03:49

So, you're now in the world of retirement.

0:03:490:03:52

-Yes.

-So what were you doing prior to all this time on your hands?

0:03:520:03:57

When I was 15, which is back a few years ago,

0:03:570:04:00

I trained as a hairdresser.

0:04:000:04:02

I did that for many years

0:04:020:04:04

and, of course, when the children came along,

0:04:040:04:06

I'd go part-time, casual, I also did some mobile hairdressing.

0:04:060:04:10

But for the last 12 years I've worked at the local pharmacy.

0:04:100:04:14

Now, I've heard you might be called a woman of adventure.

0:04:140:04:17

Oh. Well, I do like adventures.

0:04:170:04:19

I do like to be a little bit different.

0:04:190:04:22

I had an experience day, the kids bought me that, on the biplane,

0:04:220:04:26

where you actually fly the plane.

0:04:260:04:28

But this year on my bucket list is definitely

0:04:280:04:31

that I'm going to do a parachute jump.

0:04:310:04:32

-Are you sure about that, are you?

-Definitely. Yes, most definitely.

0:04:320:04:36

-OK.

-In fact my children have all said, "If you want to do it,

0:04:360:04:39

"we'll all put together and you can do it." So, there we go.

0:04:390:04:42

So, Brenda, you're living overseas, I believe?

0:04:420:04:44

Yes, I live in Spain for most of my time now.

0:04:440:04:46

Yeah, I'm retired.

0:04:460:04:48

I went out there to Spain to retire because of the pace of life.

0:04:480:04:51

It is so relaxed and so social,

0:04:510:04:53

and I'm a relaxed social type of girl.

0:04:530:04:56

Because I used to work for a bank in the City of London for 25 years

0:04:560:05:01

and that was quite stressful at the time.

0:05:010:05:02

So when I finished then I thought, "No, that's it, off to Spain,"

0:05:020:05:05

and have a nice relax and enjoy myself.

0:05:050:05:08

What are your tactics, ladies?

0:05:080:05:10

Well, the way we've been practising really,

0:05:100:05:12

when we go around the markets in Spain, at the bartering business.

0:05:120:05:15

-She's very good.

-Because we always barter at the Spanish markets

0:05:150:05:17

and save 50 cents here and there.

0:05:170:05:19

Well, before you can do any bartering,

0:05:190:05:21

both of you are going to need some money, isn't that right?

0:05:210:05:24

-ALL:

-Oh, yes, please.

-Blues, there's your £300.

0:05:240:05:27

-Thank you.

-Reds, there's your £300.

-Thank you.

0:05:270:05:31

This is where I say a fond farewell

0:05:310:05:33

because this is where you go off to meet your experts.

0:05:330:05:36

-So off you go.

-Cheers!

-Thank you.

-OK.

0:05:360:05:40

So talking about keeping it in the family,

0:05:400:05:42

I mean, what can possibly go wrong?

0:05:420:05:45

So let's meet today's experts.

0:05:470:05:49

Rocking along with the Reds, it's Caroline Hawley.

0:05:500:05:53

And thinking seriously about making a profit for the Blues,

0:05:540:05:57

it's Thomas Plant.

0:05:570:06:00

So, Ron, what are you looking for today?

0:06:000:06:02

Something collectible. Make a nice bit of profit.

0:06:020:06:05

I'm looking for something I think...

0:06:050:06:07

something unusual, but at the right price.

0:06:070:06:09

-SAM:

-Collectible things, small things.

0:06:090:06:11

Big profits on small items and a golden gavel at the end.

0:06:110:06:15

No pressure, then(!)

0:06:150:06:16

I'm not quite sure till I see the bargains.

0:06:160:06:18

Time to grind out a profit, teams, your 60 minutes starts now.

0:06:180:06:23

-WHISTLE BLOWS

-Let's go shopping.

0:06:230:06:25

-THOMAS:

-Let's go.

-Yeah!

0:06:250:06:28

Off we go, teams, there's plenty of choice here,

0:06:280:06:31

and help at hand from Stan and Steph from the Antiques Centre.

0:06:310:06:35

-Thank you.

-Here we are.

0:06:350:06:37

It looks like something rather small, priced up at £7,

0:06:370:06:40

has charmed the Reds already.

0:06:400:06:43

-The little mouse.

-The metal mouse.

0:06:430:06:45

Think we could have a look at it?

0:06:450:06:46

Yes. You want to see... That was very quick, wasn't it?

0:06:460:06:49

-We do make quick decisions.

-What attracted you to the mouse?

0:06:490:06:51

-I don't know.

-Cos it's cute.

-Just...

-Is it the price?

0:06:510:06:54

-Well, that helps.

-The price is one. Definitely the price is one.

0:06:540:06:57

Right. Shall I go and see

0:06:570:06:59

if I can find somebody to get into this cabinet?

0:06:590:07:02

-Yeah.

-Yes.

-One sec.

0:07:020:07:03

Off you go, Caroline.

0:07:030:07:05

Meanwhile, Thomas is putting his team through their paces.

0:07:050:07:09

What I want you to do is familiarise yourselves with what's going on.

0:07:090:07:14

-Get a good, you know, eye in...

-Yeah.

0:07:140:07:17

..and have a look because I can always help.

0:07:170:07:20

You certainly are in safe hands, ladies.

0:07:200:07:22

Back to the Reds, and Caroline has returned with Stan.

0:07:220:07:26

There we are.

0:07:260:07:27

That's unusual.

0:07:290:07:30

Have you got any information on what it actually is, was?

0:07:300:07:33

No. It doesn't tell us there on the ticket, just says "metal mouse".

0:07:330:07:37

-Yeah.

-CAROLINE:

-As opposed to Mickey Mouse!

-Yeah!

0:07:370:07:41

It's got £7 on.

0:07:410:07:43

-STAN:

-I'm sorry, we can't do anything about the price.

0:07:430:07:45

Items under £10 are not negotiable, I'm afraid.

0:07:450:07:48

Oh, dear, never mind.

0:07:480:07:50

So what does Caroline make of it all?

0:07:500:07:53

I have not seen a mouse blowing down a kettle before, I have to say.

0:07:530:07:56

-No, I haven't, no.

-STAN:

-Isn't a dormouse, is it?

0:07:560:07:58

You usually get a dormouse in a teapot in Alice In Wonderland,

0:07:580:08:01

-don't you?

-Yeah.

-CAROLINE:

-You do.

0:08:010:08:03

I mean, the tail almost looks like a hook for something.

0:08:030:08:06

-I do quite like it, actually.

-Yeah.

-We agree on something.

0:08:060:08:08

-Yeah, we do, for a change.

-You both like it.

0:08:080:08:10

So, what do you think?

0:08:100:08:12

-I'd go for that one.

-Yeah.

-You want to go for that one?

0:08:120:08:15

-Yeah.

-Whoa! That was quick.

-We do quick.

0:08:150:08:19

-Bloomin' heck, have you got somewhere you want to be?

-Um...

0:08:190:08:22

Hang on, what time is it? No, no, no, it's fine, no.

0:08:220:08:25

Nice work, gents.

0:08:250:08:27

First item purchased in just under five minutes.

0:08:270:08:29

Now, how are the Blues getting on?

0:08:290:08:32

What have you seen?

0:08:320:08:33

-No, we're only looking at the case.

-That vintage set.

0:08:330:08:36

-Vintage, it's in a case.

-It is in a case, a little manicure set.

0:08:360:08:38

-Yeah.

-Yes, £20.

0:08:380:08:40

-You can...

-Who's likely to want to buy that?

0:08:400:08:43

Is it a collectors thing or not?

0:08:430:08:44

It's a kind of thing which sells online, really, isn't it?

0:08:440:08:47

-Right.

-I just think you could do a bit better.

0:08:470:08:50

-Right, OK.

-OK.

-You could do a bit better.

0:08:500:08:52

-OK.

-We know there's something here.

0:08:520:08:53

-Well, it's a bit of a safe buy, isn't it?

-Oh, we don't want safe.

0:08:530:08:57

Do you know what these are?

0:08:570:08:58

-Pulling teeth.

-Yeah.

-Really?

-It is.

0:09:000:09:04

The thing is, things associated with pain never really sell.

0:09:040:09:07

Ouch! I wonder why?

0:09:070:09:09

Back with the Reds

0:09:100:09:11

and have they got their eyes on another pretty bargain?

0:09:110:09:15

What do you think of that?

0:09:150:09:17

Well, it's all right.

0:09:170:09:20

What is it? It's glass, isn't it?

0:09:200:09:21

-It's a nice pendant. The price is right.

-It's very...

0:09:210:09:24

-How much is it?

-Oh, I might've guessed.

0:09:240:09:26

Another price is right, how much?

0:09:260:09:28

£4.

0:09:290:09:31

Me thinks you're looking to spend low.

0:09:310:09:34

You do have £300.

0:09:340:09:36

-Yes.

-You think we should have a look around?

0:09:360:09:38

We have got an hour.

0:09:380:09:40

-Have a look around a bit.

-I'll remember where it is.

0:09:400:09:43

-OK...

-I know you won't forget.

-..so we'll come back to that, right.

0:09:430:09:46

So that's one for the back burner, then.

0:09:460:09:49

Meanwhile, are the Blues on to something special?

0:09:490:09:52

A bronze Victorian Indian Goddess.

0:09:520:09:56

So, have a look, hold it.

0:09:560:09:57

-Yeah.

-What do you think?

-Oh, it's heavier than I thought!

0:09:570:10:00

-It's going to be 19th century.

-Right.

-Yes.

0:10:000:10:02

It's not going to be super, super quality.

0:10:020:10:04

But they've got a huge amount of money on it.

0:10:040:10:06

-Right.

-How much?

-It's £195.

-Oh, no.

0:10:060:10:09

What would it likely to be selling for at auction?

0:10:090:10:13

That's the difference.

0:10:130:10:14

The interesting thing about these figures

0:10:140:10:16

is that sometimes they can fly.

0:10:160:10:17

-STEPH:

-Would you like me to phone the dealer for you?

0:10:170:10:20

-THOMAS:

-Yeah, we'll carry on looking, is that all right?

0:10:200:10:22

-Yes.

-STEPH:

-I'll phone the dealer.

0:10:220:10:24

Whilst the Blues are waiting for the price,

0:10:240:10:25

the Reds are sticking to their thrifty game plan.

0:10:250:10:28

-They're more than a fiver.

-Yep. 300...

0:10:280:10:31

-Oh, 420.

-Oh, gosh, right.

-How much?

0:10:310:10:34

-No, that's the number on it.

-Oh, is it?

0:10:340:10:37

-Are you sure?

-A420.

-Oh, sorry.

-Yes, definitely.

0:10:370:10:41

Well, that's too much for your thrifty tactics, Ron.

0:10:410:10:45

But is there good news for the Blues?

0:10:450:10:48

-The dealer has kindly said...

-Oh, hello.

-Hello, sorry.

0:10:480:10:50

-Come here, come here.

-The dealer says he'll do £150.

0:10:500:10:52

-150. Do you think he'll do £130?

-Oh, please.

-I think he might.

0:10:520:10:55

It's been pushed to £140,

0:10:550:10:57

but I'm going to override it and say £130.

0:10:570:10:59

-Good.

-Is that all right?

-DOREEN:

-Oh, yes!

0:10:590:11:01

-Oh, yes.

-Yeah.

-Do you want to do it?

-Yes, please.

0:11:010:11:03

-Yes?

-We think so.

-Definitely.

-STEPH:

-Is that a deal?

0:11:030:11:06

-Yeah.

-DOREEN:

-Thank you very much.

-Thanks for your help.

0:11:060:11:08

-Thanks, Stephanie, thank you.

-First item down.

0:11:080:11:10

-Yeah!

-That's lovely, thank you.

-We've got one!

-Oh, brilliant.

0:11:100:11:14

Well done, Blues, that's one item each in just 12 minutes.

0:11:140:11:18

Meanwhile, Caroline is daring the Reds to spend £38

0:11:180:11:22

on this jet brooch.

0:11:220:11:24

-How does jet do down here?

-Well, jet was very, very popular.

0:11:240:11:27

-It was.

-In Victorian times.

-Especially the mourning period.

0:11:270:11:29

-Yes, exactly.

-Yes.

0:11:290:11:31

Because when Queen Victoria went into mourning

0:11:310:11:33

for such a long period,

0:11:330:11:35

her subjects followed suit and it was very, very fashionable.

0:11:350:11:39

I mean, brooches, they're not really popular.

0:11:390:11:43

-No.

-You know bangles, necklaces, earrings possibly more so

0:11:430:11:48

but at that sort of money.

0:11:480:11:50

Do you want to have a think about that one?

0:11:500:11:52

-I'll have a walk round.

-Right.

0:11:520:11:54

Not sure you had a say in this one, Ron.

0:11:540:11:56

Moving on, team. Now what's taken the Blues' fancy?

0:11:560:12:00

-That looks quite nice.

-Japanese.

-That looks quite nice.

0:12:000:12:03

Can we have a...? Thomas, would you have a look at that for us?

0:12:030:12:05

-That one.

-OK.

-What do you think?

-What's it made of?

0:12:050:12:08

-What do you see?

-That vintage pincushion.

0:12:080:12:11

The vintage pincushion. That's rather fine,

0:12:110:12:13

-out of a coconut or nut, isn't it?

-Oh, right.

0:12:130:12:15

-A coquilla nut or something.

-Right, OK.

-It says here,

0:12:150:12:18

"Vintage carved coconut basket pincushion. £65."

0:12:180:12:23

-That's lovely and I like the fact you pointed it out.

-Yeah.

0:12:230:12:26

-But I think maybe you want something a bit more...

-Right.

0:12:260:12:29

-With a bit more gravitas to it, do you see what I mean?

-Right.

-Yes!

0:12:290:12:33

Well, you won't be pinning your hopes on that one, then.

0:12:330:12:36

Back to business,

0:12:360:12:37

and the Reds are still in pursuit of something pretty.

0:12:370:12:40

Do you know, you two chaps are very surprising.

0:12:400:12:42

It's all very... You're looking at very feminine things,

0:12:420:12:46

which is great.

0:12:460:12:47

-Women spend money.

-Women do spend money.

0:12:490:12:51

-What you have to remember is, ladies spend money.

-Yeah.

0:12:510:12:54

-Men spend money on ladies.

-Yes.

-You see.

0:12:540:12:57

So do you both shop a lot for your wives?

0:12:570:13:00

-No.

-Ah, right.

0:13:000:13:02

-She wouldn't let me.

-Wouldn't she?

0:13:020:13:04

No, because we don't buy the right things.

0:13:040:13:06

Well, on that note, I suggest we move on.

0:13:060:13:09

Meanwhile, it's looking very relaxed over with our Blue team.

0:13:090:13:14

Charles Horner here, a silver brooch.

0:13:140:13:17

-Yes.

-What do you think of that, then, Thomas?

0:13:170:13:19

-That's quite lovely, isn't it?

-It's a club, isn't it, as well?

0:13:190:13:22

-Yeah, and it's a golf club.

-Women's.

-Right, shall we have a look in this?

0:13:220:13:25

-Yes, please.

-So Charles Horner stick pin or pin.

0:13:250:13:29

-That's quite nice.

-Yeah.

0:13:290:13:31

-And it says "Chester 1907" on there.

-Yeah, that's good.

0:13:310:13:34

And the hallmark's just there.

0:13:340:13:35

-Oh.

-Yeah?

-Good.

-You can see the Charles Horner mark, just there.

0:13:350:13:40

I think that's rather good.

0:13:400:13:42

-Good spot.

-I'm happy with that. Quite happy to look at that.

0:13:420:13:45

-Good spot.

-If the price is right.

0:13:450:13:48

-Does the box come with it?

-STEPH:

-The box does come with it.

0:13:480:13:51

-It does come with it.

-That's even better.

-That's a bonus.

0:13:510:13:54

What's the very best, do you think? I mean, I know it's only £55.

0:13:540:13:57

-Please.

-£48.

0:13:570:13:58

48, can we round that up to make it simple for a simple mathematician,

0:13:580:14:02

like myself, and say £45?

0:14:020:14:04

-Please.

-I should think so.

-Please.

-I can manage that.

0:14:040:14:07

£45, what do you want to do? Do you want to buy it?

0:14:070:14:10

-Yes, please.

-DOREEN:

-Yes, I think that'll be lovely.

0:14:100:14:12

Thank you so much. Thanks, Stephanie.

0:14:120:14:13

I love her, she's now shaking.

0:14:130:14:15

-Thank you.

-Thanks for your help.

0:14:150:14:17

Well done, Blues, you've clinched the deal, two items netted,

0:14:170:14:20

just under the halfway mark.

0:14:200:14:23

While the teams carry on with their shopping,

0:14:230:14:25

I'm going to learn about the history of a local pharmacy.

0:14:250:14:28

There was once a chemist shop that stood on Worcester High Street

0:14:370:14:40

for almost 200 years.

0:14:400:14:43

One pharmacist who traded here was Alfred Steward,

0:14:430:14:45

who purchased the building in 1876

0:14:450:14:48

and kept the business in the family until it finally closed in 1973.

0:14:480:14:54

Recognising its historical value,

0:14:540:14:56

the local council decided to buy the entire shop

0:14:560:14:59

and move all the contents into one of the galleries at Worcester Museum

0:14:590:15:03

where it was accurately reconstructed

0:15:030:15:06

for future generations to enjoy.

0:15:060:15:09

Garston Phillips, from Worcester Art Gallery and Museum,

0:15:090:15:12

has headed over to Leinster to tell me more.

0:15:120:15:15

So, how was the shop saved when it closed its doors in 1973?

0:15:150:15:20

Basically, it involved three of us

0:15:200:15:22

and it took something like three years, on and off other jobs,

0:15:220:15:27

wrapping everything, moving everything,

0:15:270:15:31

putting it in exactly how it was,

0:15:310:15:34

we think, to about 1900.

0:15:340:15:37

Mr Steward decided he didn't want to come back and see it,

0:15:370:15:40

which was a great shame,

0:15:400:15:42

but some of the family came and they helped us out,

0:15:420:15:44

including his sister

0:15:440:15:46

and I think that was the point when we knew we'd got it right

0:15:460:15:50

was when she walked round the back of the counter and swore blind

0:15:500:15:54

it was just the same as it was when she actually worked there.

0:15:540:15:57

So, it was a great achievement and we're very proud of it.

0:15:570:16:00

So tell me more about some of these weird and wonderful objects

0:16:000:16:03

that you've brought along today from the shop.

0:16:030:16:06

This is a pill slab, which is used to make pills and tablets.

0:16:060:16:10

First of all, the ingredients would be mixed up

0:16:100:16:14

with a mortar and pestle.

0:16:140:16:16

We would then take them out, onto here,

0:16:160:16:20

they go on to this slab and they would be rolled.

0:16:200:16:23

Then they went into this lovely machine called a pill mould

0:16:230:16:27

and they would be put in long lengths like that and then, whoosh,

0:16:270:16:34

they would come out as basically pill-shaped but, as you can imagine,

0:16:340:16:39

they would not have been particularly round

0:16:390:16:42

or particularly cylindrical or whatever shape you wanted them,

0:16:420:16:45

so each pill was individually made with a thing called a pill rounder.

0:16:450:16:50

The pill was put on there and you would go...

0:16:500:16:53

until you got the right shape.

0:16:530:16:55

So why have you brought the door-knocker along?

0:16:550:16:57

The door-knocker, everybody calls it a door-knocker,

0:16:570:17:00

but in fact it's not, it's a cork squeezer and, erm...

0:17:000:17:04

when you had a bottle of medicine, like that,

0:17:040:17:07

the cork fits in the top,

0:17:070:17:09

but if the cork was too big...

0:17:090:17:13

it would go in there like that,

0:17:130:17:14

they would do it round and round and round

0:17:140:17:17

-till it fitted in the bottle and went like that.

-Oh, interesting.

0:17:170:17:21

-Yeah.

-So what about this bicycle pump?

0:17:210:17:24

This is one of the items that came in after we opened the chemist shop.

0:17:240:17:29

Mr Steward used to keep various veterinary pieces

0:17:290:17:33

and he also used to keep veterinary preparations,

0:17:330:17:35

but this is something we call a balling gun.

0:17:350:17:38

I'm not sure if that's the right word for it or not, I don't know,

0:17:380:17:40

but, as you can see, down there, the medication was put in there

0:17:400:17:45

and it would be administered to horses and cows

0:17:450:17:49

by opening the cow's mouth, pushing that down its throat

0:17:490:17:52

and pushing that to make sure it all came out

0:17:520:17:55

and went down into the horse or the cow like that.

0:17:550:17:58

Thank you, Garston, for sharing this fascinating story with us.

0:17:580:18:01

But, in the meantime,

0:18:010:18:02

let's go back and find out how our two teams are getting on

0:18:020:18:05

with the shopping.

0:18:050:18:07

We're over halfway through the shop and it's 2-1 to the Blues.

0:18:150:18:18

Come on, Reds, time to step up your game.

0:18:180:18:21

-I'm trying to work out how it goes.

-I think it could go either way.

0:18:230:18:28

-Yes.

-You could put four candles in there.

0:18:280:18:30

-Fork handles.

-Fork handles.

-Four candles in there.

0:18:300:18:32

Fork handles!

0:18:320:18:34

-Or you can turn...

-Handles for forks.

0:18:340:18:36

Or you could turn it the other way and put one candle, couldn't you?

0:18:360:18:40

-Yeah.

-Do you like that then?

0:18:400:18:42

-No.

-No, I don't either.

0:18:420:18:44

-Not over keen.

-No, I'm not over keen.

0:18:440:18:47

-No. We'll give that a miss, I think.

-Put it down.

0:18:470:18:50

That's another no then from the Reds.

0:18:500:18:53

Meanwhile, the Blues have stumbled across something really unusual.

0:18:530:18:56

Quirky and useful.

0:18:580:19:00

Do you want to get in?

0:19:010:19:04

-Shall we go in together?

-Yeah, go on.

0:19:040:19:06

We're going to have a shower together.

0:19:060:19:08

Get in there. One of you have got to pump.

0:19:130:19:15

-Right.

-I'll pump.

0:19:150:19:17

Then you can pull the cord.

0:19:180:19:20

-I'll pull the cord.

-Are you going to wash my back?

0:19:200:19:22

-Oh, I'll wash your back.

-Yeah.

0:19:220:19:23

-How much is that?

-£1,450.

0:19:270:19:29

-Oh, right, OK.

-It's well out of our range.

0:19:290:19:31

Simulated, sort of, bamboo here.

0:19:310:19:33

-Yeah.

-I can't believe I've had

0:19:330:19:35

a shower with a Bargain Hunt contestant!

0:19:350:19:37

Well, there's a first time for everything, Thomas.

0:19:380:19:41

But over with the Reds, it's a rather familiar scene.

0:19:410:19:43

-This is like a trinket type.

-Yes, like a trinket box.

0:19:470:19:50

From the teak of HMS Birmingham.

0:19:510:19:54

It's a spill holder, isn't it?

0:19:540:19:56

It is. It's almost like a spill holder, yes.

0:19:560:19:58

It says £35 on there.

0:19:590:20:01

Yes. Would you like me to make a phone call and see if we can do any

0:20:010:20:04

-better for you?

-Yes. £20 would be a lovely figure.

0:20:040:20:07

-OK.

-Whilst Stan is off to make that phone call,

0:20:070:20:10

Doreen has found another quirky piece.

0:20:100:20:12

It's quite nice with the alabaster and the mother-of-pearl and the hard

0:20:120:20:16

stone. I quite like you spotting things like this.

0:20:160:20:19

-How much, though?

-£125.

0:20:190:20:21

-Oh, that's not...

-You've got the money, you've got the money.

0:20:210:20:23

Yes, but what would it sell for?

0:20:230:20:25

-Yes, but it's not that.

-It's £60 to £80 lot.

0:20:250:20:28

-60 to £80.

-Yeah.

0:20:280:20:29

-That's what it's worth.

-Sadly, at that price, it's a no to the table.

0:20:290:20:34

So, will it be better news for the Reds?

0:20:340:20:36

Yes, I've got an answer for you.

0:20:360:20:38

Right. The ticket price is £35, but you can have it for £25.

0:20:380:20:42

£20 is a no go, I'm afraid, but £25 we can do.

0:20:420:20:45

I think we'll have to leave that, Stan.

0:20:450:20:46

-Fair enough.

-We wouldn't want to do more than £20 on that, would we?

0:20:460:20:49

-Yeah.

-No.

-Fair enough.

-Thanks for asking anyway.

0:20:490:20:52

-You're very welcome.

-Cheers.

0:20:520:20:53

So, can I just say, we need to look lively.

0:20:530:20:58

We need to make a decision, so what are your thoughts?

0:20:580:21:00

I think we ought to go back for the pendant.

0:21:000:21:04

The pendant, do you agree?

0:21:040:21:05

-I agree.

-The glass pendant at £4.

0:21:050:21:08

Right. Are you sure?

0:21:080:21:09

-Yes.

-Quick, go buy.

0:21:090:21:12

Yep, before they change their minds again.

0:21:120:21:14

You only have 15 minutes left.

0:21:140:21:16

-That one there.

-Ah-ha, here it is.

0:21:170:21:20

-That's the one.

-So it hasn't gone.

0:21:200:21:23

You're lucky. This is the one you want?

0:21:230:21:26

-Yes.

-Brilliant.

-We agree.

-Second one in.

0:21:260:21:28

-Second one in.

-Excellent.

0:21:280:21:30

The Reds are finally in agreement.

0:21:300:21:32

Hurrah! You must be very pleased, Caroline.

0:21:320:21:35

Well, it started off very, very well.

0:21:350:21:38

Inside five minutes, the first item bought and then things went very,

0:21:380:21:43

very badly downhill.

0:21:430:21:45

But fortunately we've just bought the second item, for all of £4.

0:21:450:21:50

I can't wait to see what they're going to do with number three!

0:21:500:21:53

With 15 minutes to go both teams now have two items and are on the home

0:21:540:21:58

straight.

0:21:580:22:00

So what's Doreen spotted?

0:22:000:22:01

Well, we were looking...

0:22:010:22:03

It was quite pleasing to the eye, the enamel butterfly.

0:22:030:22:06

-We're assuming it's enamel.

-It's lovely.

0:22:060:22:09

We need to ask you what you think.

0:22:090:22:11

-It's lovely, isn't it?

-I don't know what the price is.

0:22:110:22:14

What's the label say? It's a David Andersen silver and enamel brooch.

0:22:140:22:17

-OK.

-David Andersen was a jeweller in Norway.

0:22:170:22:20

It's all on the back here.

0:22:200:22:21

We'll have David Andersen

0:22:230:22:25

and sterling silver.

0:22:250:22:27

It's £89.

0:22:270:22:29

How well does he sell?

0:22:290:22:30

With a name that sells as well.

0:22:300:22:32

He sells very well. He does sell well.

0:22:320:22:33

It would be the name as much...

0:22:330:22:35

The butterflies are quite popular as well, aren't they?

0:22:350:22:37

-They are popular, aren't they?

-But it all depends on the right price,

0:22:370:22:40

so let's talk to Stephanie.

0:22:400:22:43

We know it's worth more, don't get me wrong, we're aware,

0:22:430:22:45

but we're going to an auction, obviously.

0:22:450:22:47

-From our view...

-To give you a chance, we'll do £50.

0:22:480:22:52

£48, just so they can do that extra one bid less, £48.

0:22:520:22:56

-OK.

-£48.

-Can we shake hands on that one again?

0:22:560:22:59

I think so, don't you? With the name. It's got a name.

0:22:590:23:01

-It's quality.

-I've got nothing to do with this.

0:23:010:23:03

Is that all right?

0:23:030:23:06

-You said you liked it.

-I love it, I'm impressed.

0:23:060:23:09

-How do you feel?

-Let me finish, I'm impressed.

0:23:090:23:12

-That's good.

-You negotiated from

0:23:120:23:15

£89 to £48 without me having any input,

0:23:150:23:19

I just stood there. Sorry, I'm just going to go now.

0:23:190:23:22

I'm done.

0:23:220:23:23

You've done it, all three items purchased ahead of the Reds,

0:23:230:23:26

in just under 50 minutes.

0:23:260:23:28

So with the Reds now under pressure, Caroline finally gives in.

0:23:290:23:34

Trinket box, £5.

0:23:340:23:36

-What about that, hey?

-You're talking his mind now.

0:23:360:23:38

I'm talking your language, I've been beaten down.

0:23:380:23:41

-Yeah.

-How does it feel to be dragged down?

0:23:410:23:44

If he sells that, he won't get less than £5.

0:23:440:23:46

Go, go.

0:23:460:23:48

No, you can't.

0:23:480:23:49

You can't. You can't.

0:23:490:23:51

Do it or I'll fall out with you.

0:23:510:23:53

That's fine.

0:23:550:23:56

It's continental.

0:23:560:23:58

-Yeah.

-And...

0:23:580:24:00

-It will open.

-It will if you're careful with it.

0:24:000:24:02

A little trinket box.

0:24:020:24:05

Very pretty. What do you think?

0:24:050:24:06

Definitely. It's a definite £10 worth.

0:24:060:24:09

-Is it?

-Yeah.

-Is it a yes from you as well?

0:24:090:24:12

-Go on.

-Go on.

0:24:120:24:13

Only because it's so late.

0:24:130:24:16

Brilliant. Thank you.

0:24:160:24:19

At last.

0:24:190:24:20

PHONE RINGS

0:24:200:24:22

OK, I'll tell them. Teams, your time's now up.

0:24:220:24:26

Well, do you think you're on the way to the golden gavel?

0:24:260:24:28

-Most definitely.

-I'd cry if we're not, after this.

0:24:280:24:30

Oh, I think I'm going to cry.

0:24:300:24:32

-Can we go and sit down?

-Do you want to cry together?

0:24:320:24:34

-Yes, come on.

-No, you stay here.

0:24:340:24:35

So let's remind ourselves what the Reds bought.

0:24:370:24:39

First, they were charmed by this

0:24:400:24:43

tiny mouse and teapot, costing them £7.

0:24:430:24:46

Then they took a shine to this glass pendant, price paid £4.

0:24:460:24:51

And the last of the big spenders was this pretty trinket box for £5.

0:24:520:24:58

Well, it all got off to a very good start, didn't it?

0:24:580:25:01

I mean, a lightning buy in the first few minutes.

0:25:010:25:04

-Definitely.

-But, in all fairness,

0:25:040:25:07

it did slightly go downhill from there,

0:25:070:25:10

gents, didn't it? The last two were impulse buys,

0:25:100:25:14

desperation buys or what?

0:25:140:25:16

-I think all of those.

-All those things.

0:25:160:25:19

-All right.

-Definitely.

-Excellent.

0:25:190:25:20

Tell me, what was

0:25:200:25:22

-your favourite buy?

-I think my

0:25:220:25:23

favourite buy was actually the first buy,

0:25:230:25:25

straight in, straight to the cabinet.

0:25:250:25:27

-A little mouse with a teapot.

-I'm the same.

-You're the same.

0:25:270:25:30

-I picked it, too.

-Oh, you did pick it, did you?

0:25:300:25:32

-Yeah.

-So which of the three items

0:25:320:25:34

you bought do you think is going to give

0:25:340:25:36

-you the biggest profit?

-I think possibly that one.

0:25:360:25:39

-Yeah.

-Yeah, I think.

-Yeah.

-I'd go with the first one.

0:25:390:25:42

-You're like minded on that one?

-Yeah.

0:25:420:25:44

So what was the total spend?

0:25:440:25:45

£16.

0:25:450:25:47

£16.

0:25:470:25:48

OK. So that means that you've got a whopping £284 to give to me.

0:25:480:25:55

-OK.

-There we are.

0:25:550:25:56

So there we go, Caroline.

0:25:560:25:58

-Thank you.

-For a bonus buy.

0:25:580:26:00

-Yes.

-Have you got your eye on anything in particular?

0:26:000:26:03

The guys don't really like spending much money, so I don't know,

0:26:030:26:06

I'm going to have to find something cheap.

0:26:060:26:08

OK. While Caroline goes off for a budget bonus buy,

0:26:080:26:14

let's find out how the Blue team got on.

0:26:140:26:16

First up, Doreen and Brenda were delighted with this Indian bronze

0:26:170:26:20

figurine, costing them a whopping £130.

0:26:200:26:24

Next they pinned their hopes on this beautiful Charles Horner brooch,

0:26:260:26:29

price paid £45.

0:26:290:26:31

And, finally, will they flutter away with a profit on this silver

0:26:330:26:36

butterfly, bought for £48?

0:26:360:26:40

So, Thomas, they were a steady buy, weren't they?

0:26:400:26:44

They were focused, these ladies.

0:26:440:26:45

They were very focused. The first item we sort of looked and found

0:26:450:26:50

together and the other two was all their own doing.

0:26:500:26:53

Doreen, tell me, what was your favourite item?

0:26:530:26:56

We did a Charles Horner brooch, golf, silver golf brooch,

0:26:560:27:01

I really like that. I really, really do.

0:27:010:27:03

What do you think is going to give you the biggest profit?

0:27:030:27:05

-That one.

-Do you think so?

-It's Chester silver as well.

0:27:050:27:08

-OK.

-So we had quite a good buy on that.

0:27:080:27:10

-Quite happy with that.

-Quite emphatic.

0:27:100:27:11

-Oh, yes.

-What about your continental sister here,

0:27:110:27:16

-what was your favourite item?

-Oh, I

0:27:160:27:17

went for a little butterfly which was Norwegian.

0:27:170:27:20

-Norwegian by David Andersen.

-David Andersen.

0:27:200:27:22

Which of the three do you think is going to give us the biggest profit?

0:27:220:27:25

-My brooch.

-Your brooch.

-My brooch. Sorry, not your...

0:27:250:27:27

There we go.

0:27:270:27:29

So what was the final spend?

0:27:310:27:33

£223.

0:27:330:27:35

Right, still £77 left over.

0:27:350:27:39

-OK. There we go.

-I will pass it over to Thomas.

0:27:390:27:42

Thomas, you can do OK with that amount?

0:27:420:27:45

I think I can do OK with that amount.

0:27:450:27:47

I can find something equally stylish for my stylish ladies.

0:27:470:27:50

-Thank you.

-Ah, thank you, Thomas.

0:27:500:27:52

While Thomas goes off to find a stylish bonus buy,

0:27:520:27:55

we're going off to the auction.

0:27:550:27:57

Well, we've gone down the road into Worcestershire and we're at the

0:28:080:28:11

Malvern Saleroom, and we're with none other than Mr Philip Serrell,

0:28:110:28:15

auctioneer extraordinaire.

0:28:150:28:17

-Good to see you, Eric.

-Thank you.

0:28:170:28:19

Good to see you. Getting straight

0:28:190:28:20

into our Red team, this is Ron and Sam,

0:28:200:28:22

starting with the miniature trinket of a mouse and a kettle.

0:28:220:28:28

I honestly thought that someone had raided the cracker factory

0:28:280:28:31

and they'd left the mottos and the fancy hats there and they'd brought

0:28:310:28:34

these along. They have entered into the spirit of things, haven't they,

0:28:340:28:37

really? I think that's going to make £2-£5.

0:28:370:28:41

I hate it when you sit on the fence like that, Phil, I really do.

0:28:410:28:44

But either way they paid £7 for it.

0:28:440:28:47

Let's go on to the next item, which is the glass pendant.

0:28:470:28:53

I've not seen anything quite like that before.

0:28:530:28:55

-That must be a huge relief, Eric?

-Yes.

0:28:550:28:58

I think that that's going to make £2-£5,

0:28:580:29:02

but who knows? Who knows?

0:29:020:29:04

Well, listen, £2-£5 is good news because it's a £4 spend.

0:29:040:29:08

-OK.

-Yeah.

-OK.

0:29:080:29:09

-Final item.

-This is the star buy, I think.

0:29:090:29:13

-Oh, you do.

-I think this is the star buy.

0:29:130:29:15

Little continental trinket box.

0:29:150:29:17

I think out of the three lots that they've bought,

0:29:170:29:19

if I was forced to take one thing home, that would be it.

0:29:190:29:21

I'd put £2-£5 on it.

0:29:210:29:23

If they have a lucky day it might go and make £10, you know.

0:29:230:29:26

So having paid £5 for it, I often see those priced at £15.

0:29:260:29:31

Yeah, they might be in with a chance with that.

0:29:310:29:34

No matter what, they're not going to lose more than £16 there, are they?

0:29:340:29:38

-They really aren't.

-No, no, no.

0:29:380:29:39

So whether they need their bonus buy or not,

0:29:390:29:41

let's find out what Caroline went and bought.

0:29:410:29:44

So, Caroline, you were left with £284 to spend.

0:29:450:29:50

-I was indeed.

-You've gone and spent,

0:29:500:29:52

so would you like to reveal your bonus buy?

0:29:520:29:54

Yeah.

0:29:540:29:56

-A box.

-A box.

-A box.

0:29:560:29:57

Ah!

0:29:590:30:00

Containing the most lovely little French silver set,

0:30:000:30:05

which would be a gentleman's set.

0:30:050:30:09

This is a pen knife, vesta case here and here is a pencil.

0:30:090:30:15

It's 900 silver and, can you see, it's beautifully,

0:30:150:30:19

beautifully decorated with lily of the valley.

0:30:190:30:22

How much did you pay for it, Caroline?

0:30:220:30:24

Oh, gosh, is it safe to say?

0:30:240:30:26

-Are you going to be all right?

-I might.

-I'll hold him.

0:30:260:30:29

Right, OK, it was £149.

0:30:290:30:32

-Oh, my.

-£149.

0:30:320:30:34

-Yes.

-What do you think it'll make at auction?

0:30:340:30:37

Maybe £150, £160, we'd have to see on the day.

0:30:370:30:42

Well, food for thought there, chaps, yes?

0:30:420:30:44

-Definitely.

-Meanwhile,

0:30:440:30:45

let's find out what our auctioneer

0:30:450:30:47

has to say about Caroline's bonus buy.

0:30:470:30:50

-Ah, it's just lovely, isn't it?

-It is lovely.

0:30:520:30:56

-Continental?

-Continental, it looks either German or Austrian.

0:30:560:31:01

Show me another. I mean, it's quite a rare thing.

0:31:010:31:03

-Never ever seen one.

-No.

0:31:030:31:04

So we've got a little pencil in a case, we've got a vesta,

0:31:040:31:07

a little pen knife. Right.

0:31:070:31:08

I have never ever seen one, so I've put £50-£80 on it.

0:31:080:31:12

Well, Caroline went bold out there and she actually spent £149.

0:31:120:31:20

-Wow!

-That's it for the Reds.

0:31:200:31:22

Now, for the Blues, this is Doreen and Brenda.

0:31:220:31:24

Their first purchase was this very stylish Indian brass figure.

0:31:240:31:30

These things are so difficult unless you're an expert

0:31:300:31:33

to, A, date them and, B, put a value on them.

0:31:330:31:35

I think that's probably 19th century.

0:31:350:31:38

I think it's £80-£120 worth.

0:31:380:31:40

Well, I mean, they paid £130 for it.

0:31:400:31:43

Well, that could motor. Let's see, as for the next item,

0:31:430:31:47

which is the Charles Horner brooch in the form of a golf club.

0:31:470:31:51

Now, golfing memorabilia, is it still doing good things up here?

0:31:510:31:55

It is. I mean,

0:31:550:31:58

there are a lot of people who collect golfing items.

0:31:580:32:01

Charles Horner is massively collectible.

0:32:010:32:04

I think that's going to make £30-£50.

0:32:040:32:06

£30-£50, £45 paid.

0:32:060:32:09

I dare say, in the heyday, 20 years ago, it would have done double that?

0:32:090:32:14

Oh, absolutely. Absolutely.

0:32:140:32:16

Finally, is their lovely enamel brooch by David Andersen.

0:32:160:32:21

You see, I love that.

0:32:210:32:22

I think that you've got two brooches here that are

0:32:220:32:27

similar in what they do, but a massive difference in today's taste.

0:32:270:32:31

I've put £30-£50 on that, again.

0:32:310:32:33

Well, it'll have to do well because they paid £48 for it.

0:32:330:32:36

-OK.

-So all things considered, will they need their bonus buy?

0:32:360:32:42

So let's find out what Thomas went out and bought.

0:32:420:32:45

Now, Doreen and Brenda, I have to say, when it came to your spending,

0:32:470:32:50

you like spending money, don't you?

0:32:500:32:52

We didn't do too badly.

0:32:520:32:53

-Yes.

-No, you didn't do too badly.

0:32:530:32:55

What's more, you left Thomas with how much to spend?

0:32:550:32:58

£77.

0:32:580:32:59

Bang on, £77 Thomas, what did you spend it on?

0:32:590:33:03

Well, you two girls, I found something immensely stylish,

0:33:030:33:06

just like you two here.

0:33:060:33:07

It's an Art Nouveaux photograph frame by WMF.

0:33:070:33:12

It's got great design and it's very functional.

0:33:120:33:15

You could put your loved one in there,

0:33:150:33:17

have it on the side of your bedside as you wake up, a picture of me.

0:33:170:33:20

-No.

-Oh, yes. Is it old?

0:33:200:33:22

Yes, it's 1910.

0:33:220:33:24

How much did you pay for that then?

0:33:240:33:26

It was marked almost three figures, but I paid £55 for it.

0:33:260:33:30

Yeah, but how much will it make at auction?

0:33:300:33:32

Well, they are collectible, it is collectible.

0:33:320:33:35

It's not so in your face as in flowery and Art Nouveaux,

0:33:350:33:38

it's quite stylish, £65-£70.

0:33:380:33:41

I do see a small profit in this.

0:33:410:33:43

-OK.

-You don't have to make your minds up now, do you?

0:33:430:33:45

-No.

-You have to wait until you sell your first three items.

0:33:450:33:48

-Of course.

-But, in the meantime,

0:33:480:33:49

let's find out what our auctioneer has to say about charming Tom's

0:33:490:33:54

WMF photograph frame.

0:33:540:33:56

Well, here it is, that's what Thomas came up with.

0:33:580:34:01

I think he's done a good job there.

0:34:010:34:04

WMF, which is German.

0:34:040:34:05

-Yep.

-Photograph frame.

0:34:050:34:08

Roughly about 1900.

0:34:080:34:10

I think it's not pure Art Nouveaux, in my eyes.

0:34:100:34:13

No, you're right, it's a bit of a compromise, isn't it?

0:34:130:34:15

Yeah. I think that compromise helps it, sort of,

0:34:150:34:18

become a bit of a today's item rather than a yesterday's item.

0:34:180:34:22

I think that's going to make £50-£80.

0:34:220:34:25

I think Thomas bought well, he paid £55 for it.

0:34:250:34:29

We hope it's going to do well when

0:34:290:34:31

it comes to the auction today. So who's

0:34:310:34:33

-going to be the auctioneer today?

-It's me today, Eric.

0:34:330:34:35

-It's you?

-Yes.

-Is it really?

-Yeah.

0:34:350:34:37

OK, well, in Philip Serrell, we trust.

0:34:370:34:40

At £35, back of the room.

0:34:470:34:49

So, Ron and Sam, are you regulars? Do you do lots of auctions?

0:34:490:34:52

-We've been to one or two.

-We've been to one or two, yes.

0:34:520:34:55

One or two. You wouldn't say you were seasoned.

0:34:550:34:57

-No.

-Definitely not. Definitely not.

-Your first lot is coming up now.

0:34:570:35:00

It's that little plated miniature of a mouse looking down the spout of

0:35:000:35:03

a kettle. You paid £7 for it.

0:35:030:35:06

Let's see if there's a profit to be had.

0:35:060:35:08

-Here it comes.

-Start me at £1 someone.

0:35:080:35:10

Come on. Yes, the lady bid.

0:35:120:35:14

£1 I'm bid. At £1 bid.

0:35:140:35:16

It's your bid, madam. At £1, I'll take 2 anywhere.

0:35:160:35:20

At £1. 2 bid.

0:35:200:35:22

£2. 3. At £3, 4.

0:35:220:35:25

4 bid. £4. 5, 5 bid.

0:35:250:35:28

-Keep going. Keep going.

-At £5, here's the bid and done then at £5.

0:35:280:35:31

And done.

0:35:310:35:33

It's nothing to lose too much sleep, a minus £2.

0:35:330:35:36

Let's not lose sleep. OK.

0:35:360:35:38

Second item coming up,

0:35:380:35:39

it's the glass pendant with the sort of flower head in it which you paid

0:35:390:35:44

£4 for and either way let's see what it's going to make.

0:35:440:35:50

-It's coming up now.

-Who's got a fiver for the pendant?

0:35:500:35:53

Fiver anywhere?

0:35:540:35:55

-Fiver for the pendant?

-Come on.

0:35:560:35:59

-If you don't bid, I can't sell it.

-Who's got a fiver?

0:35:590:36:02

£5. Thank you.

0:36:020:36:04

£5, £5.

0:36:040:36:06

You're mad. At £5, any bid at 5.

0:36:060:36:09

5 bid, £5.

0:36:090:36:11

£5.

0:36:110:36:13

I sell then at £5.

0:36:130:36:14

Done, thank you.

0:36:140:36:16

Your lucky day there.

0:36:160:36:18

OK. You're plus one.

0:36:180:36:21

It ends with a minus one.

0:36:210:36:23

Here's your third and final item,

0:36:230:36:25

it's the continental little trinket box for which you paid a huge and

0:36:250:36:31

princely sum of £5.

0:36:310:36:33

Either way, let's see if there's a

0:36:330:36:35

profit in it because it's coming up now.

0:36:350:36:37

A couple of pound to start me someone.

0:36:370:36:40

2 anywhere?

0:36:400:36:41

2 anywhere for the trinket box?

0:37:460:37:50

0:37:500:37:52

things we've been looking at today have been worth more,

0:37:520:37:55

some have surprised us.

0:37:550:37:56

-Yes.

-You're leaving us in a

0:37:560:37:58

positive mood because you're £4 ahead of

0:37:580:38:01

the game. All right.

Is it going to take much deciding?

0:40:460:40:48

No. I think I'd like to go for it.

0:40:480:40:50

It's taken your total to minus £43.

0:41:300:41:34

-It's not too bad, is it?

0:41:340:41:35

-No.

-Right, ladies, I think well done.

0:41:350:41:38

I mean, you know, just keep the expression neutral and not a word to

0:41:380:41:43

-the Reds.

-Oh, definitely not.

-OK.

0:41:430:41:46

-Before I say anything, have we had fun?

-Yes, definitely.

0:41:510:41:55

-Really had fun.

-Sadly,

0:41:550:41:57

there has to be a runner-up and there has to be a winner.

0:41:570:42:02

And I can tell you today that the winners are...

0:42:020:42:06

-the Red team.

-YES!

-Yes.

0:42:060:42:08

It wasn't a huge positive on their part.

0:42:110:42:14

-No, no!

-But it was more of a minus on yours.

0:42:140:42:18

In all fairness, ladies, I don't think you're going to be

0:42:180:42:21

praying to your Indian deity, are you?

0:42:210:42:23

-No.

-I mean, that was a big, big hit, wasn't it?

0:42:230:42:27

-Yeah.

-I mean, so much so that you ended up with minus £43.

0:42:270:42:33

-I know.

-Well, congratulations either way.

0:42:330:42:35

Thank you. Even more congratulations to you fellas.

0:42:350:42:38

I've got to say, you did play a very tactical game today, didn't you?

0:42:380:42:42

-We did.

-We did.

-Yeah.

0:42:420:42:43

-A little bit, yes.

-You did, yeah.

0:42:430:42:46

You could have gone with your bonus buy and you didn't.

0:42:460:42:49

-Yes.

-You would have lost big time on that, wouldn't you?

0:42:490:42:51

-We would, yes.

-The result could have been entirely different.

0:42:510:42:55

-Yes.

-So you've got to be commended on using your nouse there.

0:42:550:42:58

OK. So let me present you with your earnings.

0:42:580:43:01
