:02:24.:02:29.

# I know you've never loved

:02:29.:02:32.

# The crinkles by your eyes when you smile

:02:32.:02:34.

# You've never loved your stomach or your thighs

:02:34.:02:38.

CHEERING AND APPLAUSE

:05:30.:05:39.

One

:05:39.:05:40.

One Direction,

:05:40.:05:41.

One Direction, everyone.

:05:41.:05:48.

One Direction, everyone. Hello, boys. Beautiful, thank you. I did

:05:48.:05:52.

read somewhere that you said for Children In Need and four Children

:05:52.:06:02.
:06:02.:06:03.

In Need only, you would shave your head. Is that right? Oh, No. I have

:06:03.:06:11.

clippers. You definitely did say that. Could you just shave off one

:06:11.:06:16.

little bit of his hair? I cannot be held responsible for this because

:06:16.:06:21.

girls around the nation will hate me forever. Go for it, if you want.

:06:21.:06:27.

I can't do it. I can't, because so many girls would be heartbroken, so

:06:27.:06:34.

I won't do it. Don't shave my head! Christmas is on the way as well.

:06:34.:06:42.

Five weeks to go. Are you ready? No. Not at all. Online shopping is the

:06:42.:06:52.
:06:52.:06:55.

key. Thank you so much for tonight. One Direction, everyone.

:06:55.:07:01.

For many of you watching, if you fancy a game of football, you would

:07:01.:07:04.

pop out for a kickabout. But sadly for some children in the UK,

:07:04.:07:08.

finding a safe place to play sport and enjoy themselves is very

:07:08.:07:12.

difficult. Match Of The Day's Alan Hansen would like to tell you about

:07:12.:07:22.
:07:22.:07:23.

a young boy called Michael who just somewhere

:07:23.:07:26.

But sadly, for many children in theUK, they just don't have that option.

:07:26.:07:31.

Michael's story will be familiar to a lot of us.

:07:31.:07:35.

# All my boys boys All my boys boys... #

:07:35.:07:38.

COMMENTARY: 'Good try! Fabulous try.

:07:38.:07:42.

'That is a wonder strike!'

:07:42.:07:43.

Many children dream about being a footballer.

:07:43.:07:45.

'And he scores!'

:07:45.:07:49.

And nine-year-old Michael is no exception.

:07:49.:07:51.

I like football because it gives us time to get fitter.

:07:51.:07:55.

Good, like, um, to see how you are now and then get better.

:07:55.:07:59.

Carry on and carry on and get better and better.

:07:59.:08:01.

But Michael and his friends struggle- to find a safe place to play.

:08:01.:08:05.

Suitable places are hard to find

:08:05.:08:08.

and playing in the street brings its own problems.

:08:08.:08:11.

The people, like, are worried about their cars,

:08:11.:08:13.

if they get smashed or something.

:08:13.:08:15.

We normally hit people's cars but we don't mean it.

:08:15.:08:16.

So they end up coming out and shouting at us.

:08:16.:08:19.

But help was on hand.

:08:19.:08:21.

Once a week, a local charity arrives

:08:21.:08:23.

and makes it their mission to give these kids something special -

:08:23.:08:26.

a safe space to play

:08:26.:08:28.

and the chanceto turn their dreams into reality.

:08:28.:08:33.

Kids In The Street is a mobile sports facility

:08:33.:08:35.

and it goes around the Greater Craigmillar area in Edinburgh.

:08:35.:08:38.

Um, we set up in various locations around the community.

:08:38.:08:42.

We are a totally free service.

:08:42.:08:43.

We get out there and offer the opportunity for young folk

:08:43.:08:47.

to come along and try out sports that they might not be able

:08:47.:08:49.

to access either through money or transport problems.

:08:49.:08:54.

In less than an hour,

:08:54.:08:55.

Kids In The Street turn a car park into a football pitch.

:08:55.:08:58.

And a no-go area for children has become a place to play.

:08:58.:09:03.

MICHAEL: Kev sets up like the barriers and the goals.

:09:03.:09:06.

It's an opportunity to get like better games with your pals.

:09:06.:09:10.

And, like, get fit.

:09:10.:09:13.

Funded by Children In Need,

:09:13.:09:15.

the project is making a real difference

:09:15.:09:17.

by bringing footballto the heart of the local community.

:09:17.:09:21.

Its benefits are felt by everyone. And, most importantly,

:09:21.:09:25.

it's providing kids with a safe place to have fun.

:09:25.:09:30.

I just think the kids nowadays,

:09:30.:09:31.

it's a lot about sitting and playing games and that in the house.

:09:31.:09:36.

So I think it's important for them to get out

:09:36.:09:38.

and have some healthy activities,

:09:38.:09:40.

get their hearts beating a wee bit faster.

:09:40.:09:42.

But, crucially, this is about giving kids a safe place to play.

:09:42.:09:47.

Apart from Kids In The Street, there isn't anything near

:09:47.:09:50.

that the kids can go and be watched- safely, I don't think.

:09:50.:09:52.

I like Kids In The Street because I get to play with my friends.

:09:52.:09:55.

What I like about Kids is that you get an opportunity

:09:55.:09:58.

to play football and dinnae get in trouble by people.

:09:58.:10:02.

# We'll never be afraid again... #

:10:02.:10:04.

The project lets children like Michael do what all kids

:10:05.:10:07.

should be able to do - play freely in a safe environment

:10:07.:10:11.

and keep those childhood dreams alive.

:10:11.:10:16.

Terry, do you have a chair? I did, but they took it away. Are you

:11:13.:11:20.

going to bring on a lion for me to tame? Not a lion. I am not tired.

:11:20.:11:24.

It only appears so. There is only one reason I would need a chair at

:11:24.:11:31.

this time of night. You have not? Think of it, a gift from me to you.

:11:31.:11:36.

She is not here in the building? could not do that in case you did

MUSIC ENDS, CHEERINGAND APPLAUSE CONTINUE

Thank you so much!

:26:12.:26:22.
:26:22.:26:24.

Thank you so much!

:26:24.:26:27.

Thank you SO much!

:26:27.:26:37.
:26:37.:26:41.

You

:26:41.:26:42.

You can't

:26:42.:26:42.

You can't beat

:26:42.:26:48.

You can't beat a bit of Kylie, can you. She knocked them dead, it was

:26:49.:26:52.

terrific. Now it is time to thank some of the people who have helped

:26:52.:26:59.

us this year. If you pop out to post a letter,

:26:59.:27:03.

parcel or package at your local post office, you probably put some

:27:03.:27:08.

money in Pudsey's pocket. All of this staff have been supporting the

:27:09.:27:11.

bare-faced campaign. While women have been coming in with no make-up

:27:11.:27:16.

on, the blokes have been keeping the stores looking nice and

:27:16.:27:22.

glamorous. That colour really suits you. Hello, what have we here?

:27:22.:27:26.

Don't worry, officers, it is just Rotary International of Great

:27:26.:27:31.

Britain and Ireland going above and beyond for Children In Need. In

:27:31.:27:35.

Horsham in Surrey they threw a fabulous fun day with Pudsey and

:27:35.:27:45.
:27:45.:27:52.

pals, with singing, dancing and That is truly fantastic. Please,

:27:52.:27:56.

don't forget the money you are raising is all spent here in the UK.

:27:56.:28:01.

Wherever you live, there is a Children In Need project near you.

:28:01.:28:08.

Like most people, I love dogs. Man's best friend, made for walkies.

:28:08.:28:13.

But sometimes they have a very special talents. Let me introduce

:28:13.:28:23.
:28:23.:28:23.

you to a dog called Grant and his Imagine how hard that becomes when

:28:23.:28:26.

This is what life was like for nine-year-old Adam

:28:26.:28:29.

until he received a helping hand from someone very special.

:28:29.:28:33.

Going to the shops, children's play- areas, parks - anything like that -

:28:33.:28:38.

things that would be a normal thing to do,

:28:38.:28:40.

would be very, very difficult for him.

:28:40.:28:43.

This is Adam. He sees the world differently to most children.

:28:43.:28:47.

When Adam was very small, he didn't really start speaking.

:28:47.:28:50.

He never slept through the night.

:28:50.:28:53.

We were concerned about

:28:53.:28:56.

his disinterest in playing with other children, really,

:28:56.:28:58.

and being aware of what was going on around him.

:28:58.:29:02.

Certainly by two, we were quite convinced

:29:02.:29:04.

that there was a lot more to it.

:29:04.:29:06.

In 2006, Adam was diagnosed with autism.

:29:06.:29:08.

It meant that everyday things

:29:08.:29:11.

that most children take for granted

:29:11.:29:12.

could cause him a huge amount of stress and even fear.

:29:12.:29:16.

But the hardest thing to cope withwas that Adam had no sense of danger.

:29:17.:29:21.

Whenever he is distressed, off he would run - across the road

:29:21.:29:25.

or anywhere - just to get away and have that sort of release.

:29:25.:29:29.

Very, very dangerous.

:29:29.:29:31.

Family life was a struggle and Adam was rapidly losing confidence.

:29:31.:29:36.

It's very hard that actually, slowly, slowly,

:29:36.:29:38.

your child is thinking, "I'm not good enough."

:29:38.:29:43.

He did ask me, "Why is it so difficult for me?

:29:43.:29:46.

"Why can't I do it?"

:29:46.:29:48.

And apologised for himself, which is...really just awful.

:29:48.:29:53.

But last year, Adam met Grant.

:29:53.:29:59.

Grant has come from the Support Dogs-charity, funded by Children In Need.

:29:59.:30:06.

He is trained to assist

:30:06.:30:08.

autistic children like Adam.

:30:08.:30:10.

He has helped us to rebuild Adam's self-esteem.

:30:10.:30:16.

I didn't know if that was possible.

:30:16.:30:17.

I think any parent would say that having your self-esteem

:30:17.:30:20.

is priceless.

:30:20.:30:23.

Just wait.

:30:23.:30:24.

But the biggest change for Adam and his family

:30:24.:30:26.

happens when they leave the house.

:30:26.:30:28.

'If Adam is about to run off, Grant will just wait.

:30:28.:30:32.

'He knows that he can't run off when he's attached to Grant.

:30:32.:30:35.

'He doesn't seem'

:30:35.:30:36.

really to want to any more, which is amazing.

:30:37.:30:40.

Sure you want to go on the train, Adam?

:30:40.:30:42.

Before Grant joined the family, days- out like this would be impossible.

:30:42.:30:46.

But with Grant by his side, Adam's more confident,

:30:46.:30:48.

he sleeps through the night and the world isn't so scary any more.

:30:48.:30:54.

I think as well as relying on him as a help and an assistant,

:30:54.:30:58.

he's just definitely fallen in love with him.

:30:58.:31:02.

He just is a completely different child.

:31:02.:31:06.

We say to him, "How have you been feeling today?"

:31:06.:31:08.

He says, "I'm a superstar." Yeah, he feels a lot better about himself.

:31:08.:31:14.

So many children could benefit from the help of a dog like Grant.

:31:14.:31:17.

Please call...

:31:17.:31:23.

Thank you.

:31:23.:31:30.

Grant

:31:30.:31:31.

Grant has

:31:31.:31:31.

Grant has made

:31:31.:31:35.

Grant has made a massive impact on Adam's life, made the world a safer

:31:35.:31:41.

place for him. The factors, there is a five-year waiting list. -- the

:31:41.:31:47.

fact is. So we need to train more dogs. It costs 70 for a day of

:31:48.:31:52.

training for support dog, so let's try to get the waiting list reduced.

:31:52.:31:56.

If you can spare it, or fancy clubbing together, pick up the

:31:56.:32:02.

phone and ring that number again, 03457 33 22 33. All I ask is that

:32:02.:32:07.

you give what you can for the children. Thank you. Right, time

:32:07.:32:15.

for some music. Are you up for that? With a gift for song writing

:32:15.:32:19.

and performing, they have cracked America. Their lead singer is a

Thank

:36:18.:36:18.

Thank you,

:36:18.:36:18.

Thank you, guys.

:36:19.:36:28.
:36:29.:36:35.

Thank you, guys. The Script, everyone. How are you? Not so bad.

:36:35.:36:41.

Ladies, breathe! We just got back from touring America. We spent

:36:41.:36:50.

seven weeks over there. Now we are back in Europe. We have the arena

:36:50.:36:56.

dates as well. Things have been going great. You are busy! Why is

:36:56.:37:00.

it important for you to be part of Children In Need and be here

:37:00.:37:05.

tonight? All of the bans are ambassadors for ChildLine back home

:37:05.:37:11.

in Ireland. It is for future generations. I feel that we want to

:37:11.:37:16.

lend a hand to something that is important, you know. Christmas day

:37:16.:37:22.

for me is a big one since I lost my father. We wanted to change how

:37:22.:37:26.

Christmas Day felt. We decided we would go in for a hospital on

:37:26.:37:31.

Christmas Day. That is what we are going to do this year. To go in on

:37:31.:37:34.

that day when it means so much. Sometimes the kids do not know who

:37:34.:37:43.

I am. But the nurses get a lift out of it, too. Hall of fame is about

:37:43.:37:50.

that. There is not a Hall of fame for nurses, for care workers, for

:37:50.:37:55.

volunteers. It is a testament to that song. It went to number one.

:37:55.:37:59.

Thank God a song with a message, trying to bring it back to basics,

:37:59.:38:04.

people are getting into a bit of positivity. And what you can do

:38:04.:38:08.

under adverse circumstances. People are proving that again and again

:38:08.:38:11.

tonight, which is brilliant. Tonight has been brilliant in so

:38:11.:38:15.

many ways. Some lovely entertainment as well. What has

:38:15.:38:20.

been your highlight? Getting to perform on it, and meeting Terry

:38:20.:38:27.

Wogan. The Legend! I don't know if you have seen the film the

:38:27.:38:37.
:38:37.:38:40.

commitments. He is a true legend! We love Terry. And you have already

:38:40.:38:47.

said yester coming back on The Voice as a judge again. We had a

:38:47.:38:51.

big meeting in La two weeks ago and it was great to see the cast as

:38:51.:38:55.

well. Everybody is back on board, so it is going to be bigger and

:38:55.:39:05.
