This is Children in Need 2017.

0:00:100:00:14

Please welcome your hosts,

Marvin and Rochelle Humes!

0:00:140:00:16

CHEERING AND APPLAUSE.

0:00:160:00:25

Hello everyone.

0:00:250:00:32

I love it here.

0:00:320:00:34

We are so pleased to be back

on Children in Need for another

0:00:340:00:37

year, and there's loads of amazing

stuff to look forward to.

0:00:370:00:40

Although one of the highlights

so far has to be

0:00:400:00:42

the Queen of Mean Anne Robinson

working her magic

0:00:420:00:44

on The Weakest Link.

0:00:440:00:52

She gives that one look. That look.

You would not mess with her.

0:00:520:00:57

What do you think

your weakest link is?

0:00:570:00:59

Weakest link?

0:00:590:01:00

I don't have one!

0:01:000:01:03

I'm kind, generous, caring,

intelligent, modest.

0:01:030:01:07

What's your weakest link?

0:01:070:01:09

Probably my choice in men.

0:01:090:01:15

Let's see what's still

coming up tonight!

0:01:150:01:17

We are behind the scenes on the

EastEnders musical spectacular. Ore

0:01:260:01:32

Oduba sings live. It is no laughing

matter.

It is Michel Barnier tire.

0:01:320:01:39

Is this you?

Is it

0:01:390:01:43

Delivery. It is a Call the Midwife

exclusive. And stay tuned for show

0:01:440:01:56

stopping performances from Sam Smith

and The Vamps.

0:01:560:02:01

APPLAUSE

Entertainment coming right up. I

0:02:010:02:10

cannot wait for Rita Ora later.

Do

not do the dad dancing.

0:02:100:02:18

But let's not forget

the reason we're here

0:02:180:02:20

tonight is to help disadvantaged

children and young adults

0:02:200:02:22

throughout the UK.

0:02:220:02:23

And the film we're about to show

you sets out very clearly

0:02:230:02:26

how your support is

working just brilliantly.

0:02:260:02:30

Children In Need believes

that friendship is one of

0:02:300:02:32

the most important things

a child can have.

0:02:320:02:34

Thanks to your donations,

0:02:340:02:35

friendships are starting

all over the UK.

0:02:350:02:38

My name's Rudy.

0:02:380:02:41

No, you say me and I say you.

0:02:410:02:50

His name's Charlie, and he's nine.

I'm ten. Start again.

0:02:500:02:53

Is it this foot?

0:02:530:03:00

Rudy is funny, crazy,

and sometimes a bit annoying.

0:03:000:03:03

This is left, and that's right.

0:03:030:03:09

Charlie makes me laugh.

And he's great at football.

0:03:090:03:12

Aw, thanks!

0:03:120:03:14

I have cerebral palsy.

0:03:140:03:20

Rudy's very caring.

0:03:200:03:22

Sometimes he can guide me

which way to walk.

0:03:220:03:24

And then it will will

help me guide a way to the ball.

0:03:240:03:28

Charlie and Rudy became best friends

because of Children In Need.

0:03:280:03:30

They go to a football

club in Portsmouth for

0:03:300:03:33

children with disabilities.

0:03:330:03:35

It helps us, like,

build up our confidence.

0:03:350:03:36

We make friends together.

0:03:360:03:42

When we're playing football,

I wear a yellow helmet,

0:03:420:03:44

because I have a poorly head.

0:03:440:03:48

Charlie helps me, and he's

my best friend in the whole world.

0:03:480:03:53

He's my best mate.

0:03:530:03:56

More friendships are being formed

at Happy Hands in Liverpool.

0:03:560:04:02

A project for deaf children,

0:04:020:04:03

Alayna and Lucy come here

every week.

0:04:030:04:05

In Plymouth, Noor and Hari

became friends when they met

0:04:050:04:48

at Dare To Dazzle,

a drama group for refugees,

0:04:480:04:50

funded by your donations.

0:04:500:04:54

I'm Hari.

This is Noor.

0:04:540:04:58

She's ten.

0:04:580:04:59

She comes from...

(Iraq.)

0:04:590:05:00

..Iraq.

0:05:000:05:04

When I first came here,

I didn't know how to speak English.

0:05:040:05:07

I just felt lonely.

0:05:070:05:11

At Dared To Dazzle, I made

a lot of friends, and

0:05:110:05:13

when I made friends, I felt normal.

0:05:130:05:16

You never run out of stuff to do

when you have friends.

0:05:160:05:19

LAUGHTER

0:05:190:05:22

Hari's funny, and kind.

He's a good friend.

0:05:220:05:26

Ow!

0:05:260:05:30

So the thing about me is

I have cystic fibrosis,

0:05:300:05:35

and it affects all my organs,

mainly my lungs.

0:05:350:05:38

It makes me different,

it makes me not be able to go out

0:05:380:05:41

to play with my friends.

0:05:410:05:42

So because of Children In Need,

I have a friend called Sophie.

0:05:420:05:47

And Sophie is a befriender,

she's from the Butterfly Trust.

0:05:470:05:49

I really like her.

0:05:490:05:52

If I'm worried or scared

about something,

0:05:520:05:54

I would talk to Sophie about it.

0:05:540:05:56

She understands

what I'm going through.

0:05:560:05:58

She's awesome.

0:05:580:06:05

On behalf of all of us

who have made new friends,

0:06:050:06:08

we'd like to say a big thank you,

and please call 03457 33 22 33

0:06:080:06:12

to help other children like us.

0:06:120:06:13

Thanks.

0:06:130:06:19

APPLAUSE

A simple but vital thing.

0:06:190:06:26

And you've enabled that to happen.

0:06:260:06:28

So you're amazing.

0:06:280:06:29

On behalf of all the children you've

helped over the years -

0:06:290:06:32

and it's been many years now -

we want to say a massive thank you.

0:06:320:06:35

But of course there are more

children who need our help,

0:06:350:06:38

so in case you haven't heard it

before, this is how

0:06:380:06:40

you can donate tonight.

0:06:400:06:45

You can donate by phone -

call 03457 33 32 33.

0:06:450:06:48

charges from landlines and

0:06:480:06:49

mobiles will apply.

0:06:490:06:50

0:06:500:06:55

or you can text us -

where just one word

0:06:550:06:57

can make a huge difference.

0:06:570:06:58

And that word is DONATE.

0:06:580:07:00

You can choose to donate £10 or £20.

0:07:250:07:27

How easy is that?

0:07:270:07:34

Would you like music?

0:07:340:07:39

I absolutely love this woman.

0:07:390:07:40

Performing 'Anywhere', please

welcome the fantastic Rita Ora!

CHEERING

Will stop

0:11:010:11:10

What a performance from Rita,

thanks for doing your thing

0:11:100:11:13

thanks for doing your thing

0:11:130:11:14

Now Marvin, according

to a recent survey,

0:11:140:11:15

the quality women look

most for in a partner

0:11:150:11:18

is a good sense of humour.

0:11:180:11:19

I think that's why I'm with you.

0:11:190:11:21

And these great looks.

0:11:210:11:25

See, you're always making me laugh.

0:11:250:11:27

As is this man, it's

Michael McIntyre!

0:11:270:11:29

Hello, everybody.

0:11:310:11:32

I'm here at the Big Show.

0:11:320:11:34

Please keep your donations

coming in by calling:

0:11:340:11:42

Thank you so, so much.

0:11:420:11:43

And look who we have

in the Send To All box.

0:11:430:11:46

Here's a sneak peek

of what Marv and Roch got up

0:11:460:11:49

to on my brand-new series.

0:11:490:11:51

That's great, that works all year

round with my little

0:11:510:11:53

girl, the Santa app.

0:11:530:11:54

That is such a classic threat.

0:11:540:11:56

I do this thing where I go,

I'm phoning Father Christmas.

0:11:560:12:00

Yeah, he can actually call you back.

0:12:000:12:02

What?

0:12:020:12:03

I know, it's amazing.

0:12:030:12:05

RINGTONE: We Wish You

A Merry Christmas

0:12:050:12:10

It's so good.

0:12:100:12:11

Hello?

0:12:110:12:13

Ho, Ho, Ho.

0:12:130:12:15

Good evening.

0:12:150:12:17

It's Santa calling.

0:12:170:12:20

I've found out that you've

been a very good girl.

0:12:200:12:25

I'm so impressed that I've

put your name on my nice list.

0:12:250:12:32

How the hell did he find out?

0:12:320:12:34

I've been keeping that

secret for years.

0:12:340:12:38

Goodbye.

0:12:380:12:40

Goodbye, thank you, Santa.

0:12:400:12:43

Whoa!

0:12:430:12:46

This is obviously...is this you?

0:12:460:12:47

Is it Drake?

0:12:470:12:49

Have you put somebody

else's body here?

0:12:490:12:51

Look at the shape you're in.

0:12:510:12:54

You are loving yourself, aren't you?

0:12:540:12:56

This is you going to

collect the kids, is it?

0:12:560:12:59

Posh school?

0:12:590:13:00

School run, school run.

0:13:000:13:02

Perfect.

0:13:020:13:03

Oh, look.

0:13:030:13:04

There you are on a Saturday.

0:13:040:13:06

LAUGHTER

0:13:060:13:12

APPLAUSE

He is a bit naughty.

0:13:120:13:19

The brilliant Michael McIntyre

there, and I don't

0:13:190:13:22

think I'm ever going to live

that photo down, am I?

0:13:220:13:24

Absolutely not!

0:13:240:13:27

Michael McIntyre's Big Show

starts tomorrow night, but

0:13:270:13:29

right now a film about

a wonderful family.

0:13:290:13:31

Here's the one and only

Sam Smith to tell you more.

0:13:310:13:33

There is no doubt that

life can be cruel.

0:13:330:13:37

The family you are about

to meet know this.

0:13:370:13:39

They really know this.

0:13:390:13:42

I don't know how they begin to cope

with what's happened to them

0:13:420:13:45

and they cope with incredible love,

grace and dignity.

0:13:450:13:48

What I do know is that your

donations have helped them.

0:13:480:13:51

And for that they are grateful.

0:13:510:13:54

This is an upsetting film,

but please stay with it

0:13:540:13:57

because it is really,

really important.

0:13:570:14:01

Doing really well, Noah.

0:14:010:14:03

Six!

0:14:030:14:06

Looking at him, you wouldn't

have thought there was

0:14:060:14:09

anything wrong with him.

0:14:090:14:10

Yeah.

0:14:100:14:11

He maybe had an unsteady gait,

but apart from that he was

0:14:110:14:15

just perfectly normal.

0:14:150:14:20

Eight years ago, Noah was diagnosed

with a rare form of leukodystrophy.

0:14:200:14:26

It's a life-limiting neurological

disease that has affected every

0:14:260:14:29

aspect of his young life.

0:14:290:14:37

I think he would have been

an athletic wee boy.

0:14:370:14:39

I think he would have

been into his sport,

0:14:390:14:42

I think he would have been very

outgoing, very sociable, you know.

0:14:420:14:47

I would have imagined him coming in,

throwing the football boots down

0:14:470:14:51

and just those normal things that

you just really, you know,

0:14:510:14:54

take for granted.

0:14:540:14:55

Is that a wee bit better?

0:14:550:14:56

Noah is now 11.

0:14:560:14:58

Most children who have this

condition don't live

0:14:580:15:01

beyond their teenage years.

0:15:010:15:03

Are you going to look after me?

0:15:030:15:05

Yeah.

0:15:050:15:06

Would look after me, would you?

0:15:060:15:07

Yeah.

0:15:070:15:08

OK.

0:15:080:15:10

You're my best boy, aren't you?

0:15:100:15:14

We watch Noah and he's starting

to lose a lot of his abilities,

0:15:140:15:17

like even the ability to sit up

on his own.

0:15:170:15:19

And, yeah, cognitively,

he's still very much

0:15:190:15:22

aware of what's going on,

so that for us is heartbreaking.

0:15:220:15:27

Do you need some help, darling?

0:15:270:15:30

No.

0:15:300:15:31

Noah's sister, Gracie,

has witnessed her brother's decline.

0:15:310:15:34

As Noah's condition deteriorates

and he gets worse, it

0:15:340:15:36

affects our whole family.

0:15:360:15:41

Instead of moving towards life,

you're moving towards...

0:15:410:15:45

you know, this...

0:15:450:15:47

death.

0:15:470:15:54

A year after Noah was diagnosed,

our social worker said

0:15:540:15:58

to us about a hospice,

Horizon House.

0:15:580:16:00

I think initially we were like

petrified, weren't we?

0:16:000:16:02

It was just the word "hospice"

and what that meant.

0:16:020:16:06

We did go to Horizon House.

0:16:060:16:08

And it was just such

a fun place to be.

0:16:080:16:14

Horizon House is supported

by your donations and for the past

0:16:140:16:18

seven years, they have been

by Noah's side, giving him

0:16:180:16:22

and his family vital support,

a sense of normality and most

0:16:220:16:25

of all fun.

0:16:250:16:31

THEY LAUGH.

0:16:310:16:32

Noah!

0:16:320:16:33

Get her!

0:16:330:16:34

Get her!

0:16:340:16:35

Put it down.

0:16:350:16:36

The nurses are amazing.

0:16:360:16:37

And it's fun.

0:16:370:16:38

The children just do so much

together when they are there,

0:16:380:16:41

you know, they love it.

0:16:410:16:46

Gracie's been going for as long

as Noah's been going.

0:16:460:16:54

Leukodystrophy is

a genetic condition.

0:16:540:16:59

And a year after Noah's diagnosis,

the family discovered

0:16:590:17:01

that Gracie had it, too.

0:17:010:17:07

When we found out Gracie

had it, it was just

0:17:070:17:10

devastating all over again.

0:17:100:17:14

It's a very, very cruel disease.

0:17:140:17:16

She's watched Noah, so for her...

0:17:160:17:18

..to be watching that,

there's no words to describe

0:17:180:17:21

the heartache that you feel.

0:17:210:17:29

We had so many hopes and dreams

for what our family life

0:17:290:17:32

was going to be like before.

0:17:320:17:34

You know, you think about things

that people take for granted,

0:17:340:17:37

like your children going

to university, meeting a wee

0:17:370:17:40

girlfriend or boyfriend,

getting married and...

0:17:400:17:42

Yeah...

0:17:420:17:48

That's just...the kind of life that

you wanted for them.

0:17:480:17:58

You're such a beautiful family.

0:18:000:18:03

We are so sorry.

0:18:030:18:07

Not much we can say.

0:18:070:18:10

And we are so honoured

that you shared your

0:18:100:18:12

lives with us tonight.

0:18:120:18:13

We know you did this

because you are so grateful

0:18:130:18:16

to the wonderful support you have

been given by Horizon House.

0:18:160:18:18

We are too.

0:18:180:18:19

We must continue to support

children's hospices

0:18:190:18:21

like Horizon House.

0:18:210:18:22

And to do that, we need to ask

for your support again tonight.

0:18:220:18:29

Here now with their beautiful song

Wind Beneath My Wings -

0:18:290:18:31

and making their first ever TV

appearance - are the Leading Ladies

0:18:310:18:34

- Beverley Knight, Amber Riley

and Cassidy Janson.

0:18:340:18:38

And they have very kindly asked that

you call or text to donate

0:18:380:18:41

and support the work that Children

in Need is doing whilst

0:18:410:18:44

they're singing.

0:18:440:18:45

Thank you.

0:18:450:18:49

APPLAUSE

0:18:490:18:59

# It must have been cold

there in my shadow

0:19:010:19:10

# To never have sunlight

on your face

0:19:100:19:17

# You were content to let me shine

That's your way

0:19:170:19:24

# You always walked a step behind

0:19:240:19:33

# So I was the one

with all the glory

0:19:370:19:40

# While you were the one

with all the strength

0:19:400:19:46

# A beautiful face

without a name for so long

0:19:460:19:53

# A beautiful smile to hide the pain

0:19:530:20:02

# Did you ever know

that you're my hero

0:20:020:20:08

# And everything I would like to be?

0:20:080:20:15

# I can fly higher than an eagle

0:20:150:20:23

# For you are the wind

beneath my wings

0:20:230:20:31

# It might have appeared

to go unnoticed

0:20:310:20:38

# But I've got it all here

in my heart

0:20:380:20:45

# I want you to know

I know the truth

0:20:450:20:49

# Of course I know

0:20:490:20:54

# I would be nothing without

0:20:540:20:56

# You

0:20:560:21:03

# Did I ever tell

you you're my hero?

0:21:030:21:08

# You're everything

I wish I could be

0:21:080:21:15

# Oh, and I, I can fly higher

0:21:150:21:25

# Than an eagle Than an eagle

Than an eagle

0:21:250:21:27

# You are the wind beneath my wings

0:21:270:21:31

# Oh, the wind beneath my wings

0:21:310:21:34

# You, you, you

0:21:340:21:37

# The wind beneath my wings

0:21:370:21:44

# Fly

0:21:440:21:44

# Fly high above the sky

0:21:470:21:52

# So high I almost touch the sky

0:21:520:21:59

# Thank you, Thank you, Thank you

0:21:590:22:05

# Thank God for you the wind

beneath my wings #

0:22:050:22:10

APPLAUSE

0:22:100:22:19

That was absolutely

amazing, wasn't it?

0:22:250:22:26

So good!

0:22:260:22:29

Thanks to those Leading Ladies -

Amber, Cassidy and

0:22:290:22:31

of course Beverley.

0:22:310:22:36

That was immense, amazing.

0:22:360:22:40

And after seeing such an amazing

trio, it's got me thinking -

0:22:400:22:42

maybe three's not a crowd,

Roch...

0:22:420:22:44

Maybe it's...

0:22:440:22:45

The magic number?

I think you might be right.

0:22:450:22:47

So rather than just you and me hang

out for the night - thank goodness -

0:22:470:22:51

how about we bring in a friend

to liven things up!

0:22:510:22:55

What do you reckon? Yeah! All right.

0:22:550:23:00

Please welcome the brilliant

Matt Edmondson!

0:23:000:23:07

APPLAUSE

0:23:070:23:10

There he is.

I'm here to third wheel

it up.

0:23:100:23:16

Matt welcome, thank you for joining

us on Children in Need!

0:23:160:23:22

You look incredible. I thought it

was Instagram filters.

Stop it.

We

0:23:220:23:28

are bringing back the bow tie. You

look like James Bond. I look like a

0:23:280:23:33

child magician. I' happy to be here.

Thank you everyone for having me. I

0:23:330:23:36

love Children in Need. When I was

eight years old I queued up to meet

0:23:360:23:44

Pudsey Bear in Portsmouth. I'm sure

he remembers it.

He doesn't forget

0:23:440:23:48

anything.

0:23:480:23:57

and now to

0:24:050:24:05

be a part of his TV family

is really, really special - and

0:24:050:24:09

actually pretty humbling -

so thank you for having me.

0:24:090:24:11

APPLAUSE.

0:24:110:24:12

You're very welcome, Matt.

0:24:120:24:13

Consider yourself our special

guest for the evening.

0:24:130:24:15

Now, go and put the kettle on for us

while we say another big thank you.

0:24:150:24:25

Up and down the country,

0:24:310:24:32

Greggs have been giving

it their all for Children In Need.

0:24:320:24:35

Their staff and customers

have been amazing.

0:24:350:24:37

Can I help?

0:24:370:24:38

But there's one shop in particular

who feel a very special

0:24:380:24:41

connection.

0:24:410:24:42

Welcome to Pudsey.

0:24:420:24:43

Pudsey originated from here

in Pudsey, West Yorkshire.

0:24:430:24:44

So today, we're putting

on a very special day

0:24:440:24:47

for Children In Need.

0:24:470:24:48

He is the most famous

bear in Pudsey, and he's

0:24:480:24:50

really put us on the map.

0:24:500:24:52

Who would've thought of it,

a local celebrity from Pudsey.

0:24:520:24:54

I'm very proud, because I'm

from Pudsey myself.

0:24:540:24:56

Once again, the bakeries

across the UK have served up some

0:24:560:24:59

sterling treats.

0:24:590:25:00

And of course, the buckets

have been out in force.

0:25:000:25:02

But it's Pudsey Bear,

who is the talk of

0:25:020:25:04

the town.

0:25:040:25:05

I've seen him about,

but he tends to keep a low profile.

0:25:050:25:08

You can't miss him,

he's big, he's yellow,

0:25:080:25:10

and he brings a smile

to everyone's faces.

0:25:100:25:12

So, he's here today?

0:25:120:25:13

Do you think we can

get a picture with him?

0:25:130:25:15

So to all the staff

and customers around the UK,

0:25:150:25:18

a huge Pudsey thank you...

0:25:180:25:19

ALL TOGETHER:

..to Children In Need!

0:25:190:25:20

APPLAUSE

0:25:200:25:22

A massive thank you to the customers

and staff of Greggs for bringing

0:25:220:25:25

in the dough with their phenomenal

fundraising antics, it really

0:25:250:25:27

is hugely appreciated.

0:25:270:25:33

Let's see how much you've raised...

0:25:330:25:38

That is absolutely incredible,

thanks to everyone involved!

0:25:420:25:45

And while we're in process

of thanking people, we should also

0:25:450:25:49

congratulate Simon Reeve

and the team at The Big Life Fix

0:25:490:25:52

for doing their thing to help

change the lives of four

0:25:520:25:55

very special children.

0:25:550:26:00

And a big thank you to Nick Knowles,

his gang and all their fantastic

0:26:000:26:04

helpers at DIY SOS.

0:26:040:26:05

They have put their heart and soul

into renovating the premises

0:26:050:26:07

of The Roots Foundation in Swansea,

which offers support to children

0:26:070:26:10

in care or leaving care -

and they did an amazing job.

0:26:100:26:13

They did indeed.

0:26:130:26:14

You were donating throughout that

programme, so let's see how much

0:26:140:26:16

you've managed to raise

for Children in Need...

0:26:160:26:21

APPLAUSE

0:26:230:26:27

So good.

Thank you.

0:26:270:26:31

And to think, I can't

even put up a shelf.

0:26:310:26:33

Don't worry, neither can I, Matt!

0:26:330:26:39

Right, still to come we have

ourselves a Humes' House Party,

0:26:390:26:41

but time now for something very,

very special from the reigning

0:26:410:26:45

champion of Strictly,

Ore Oduba.

0:26:450:26:50

Yes, before I heard this man

was appearing tonight I thought

0:26:500:26:54

I was a shoe-in for the title

of Best Dancer on Children in Need

0:26:540:27:02

2017, but I think I'm

about to meet my match.

0:27:020:27:06

I think you might be right.

0:27:060:27:10

For one night only,

twinkletoes is back,

0:27:100:27:14

but this time he's a little out

of his comfort zone because he's not

0:27:140:27:18

just shaking his stuff

on the dancefloor, he's

0:27:180:27:20

singing as well.

0:27:200:27:21

He's singing?!

0:27:210:27:22

He'll be fine...

0:27:220:27:23

Won't he?

0:27:230:27:27

Performing his tribute

to Gene Kelly, it's

0:27:270:27:28

the brilliant Ore Oduba!

0:27:280:27:33

APPLAUSE

0:27:330:27:38

# Don't bring a frown

CHEERING

.

0:30:170:30:23

CHEERING

0:30:520:31:02

That was incredible!

0:31:050:31:14

Well done.

That was an amazing show.

Did you enjoy it? That looked like

0:31:140:31:22

it took a lot of work and effort and

also a lot of risk, coming out on

0:31:220:31:28

stage and singing.

Why were you

doing this? All of us have grown up

0:31:280:31:33

watching Children in Need and I have

had the best time working with this

0:31:330:31:37

incredible lot and we do it because

it is an honour to be on the stage

0:31:370:31:41

and do what we can for Children in

Need. The causes special for many

0:31:410:31:47

people and to inspire people to pick

up the phone, even £1 it makes a

0:31:470:31:53

difference to the kids out there.

Did you enjoy it? CHEERING

0:31:530:32:03

Rochelle.

Tonight we played you a film about a

0:32:030:32:14

little girl called Vanessa.

0:32:140:32:23

The thought of one of your children

being seriously ill is one

0:32:230:32:25

of life's true horrors.

0:32:250:32:27

As parents, we would give everything

on earth to make them well again,

0:32:270:32:30

everything for a smile.

0:32:300:32:31

I want you to meet

an extraordinarily wonderful little

0:32:310:32:33

girl called Vanessa.

0:32:330:32:34

She made me smile whilst my heart

was breaking because this

0:32:340:32:37

is a very sad film.

0:32:370:32:38

But Vanessa's brave family

wanted us to tell a story

0:32:380:32:40

because your donations

help their little girl

0:32:400:32:42

to smile and they wanted

to say thank you for that.

0:32:420:32:48

I'm Vanessa and I have cancer.

0:32:480:32:53

And I'm four.

0:32:530:32:57

For half her life, Vanessa has been

facing neuroblastoma,

0:32:570:32:59

a very rare type of cancer.

0:32:590:33:02

Her family have watched her

go through countless

0:33:020:33:04

painful procedures.

0:33:040:33:08

I've got two sisters,

and one's called Ruby

0:33:080:33:10

and one's called Zoe.

0:33:100:33:13

There're a bit of a handful, right?

0:33:130:33:18

Because of the treatments

Vanessa has come through,

0:33:180:33:20

she has spent over 800

nights in hospital.

0:33:200:33:24

I live in the hospital.

0:33:240:33:30

My sisters spend their time at home.

0:33:300:33:33

When Vanessa's away from us,

we call her all the time.

0:33:330:33:36

She's been through some

really rough times.

0:33:360:33:38

I'm tired.

0:33:380:33:43

She's really special.

0:33:430:33:45

What are you having for dinner?

0:33:450:33:46

Spaghetti.

0:33:460:33:47

I love mozzarella.

0:33:470:33:49

I especially love mozzarella!

0:33:490:33:57

Vanessa really has

been through it all.

0:33:570:34:02

She's really had every

type of treatment that

0:34:020:34:04

a cancer patient can have.

0:34:040:34:08

I think this is when you went

to intensive care.

0:34:080:34:10

My wife and I feel that

Vanessa deserves happiness,

0:34:100:34:12

given what she's been through.

0:34:120:34:15

Every time I do something

like a procedure or something

0:34:150:34:18

like that, I get one of these beads.

0:34:180:34:22

And each bead is very special.

0:34:220:34:27

These ones are how many

times I've lost my hair.

0:34:270:34:32

You've got how many times?

0:34:320:34:34

Four.

0:34:340:34:39

# Happy birthday to you!

0:34:390:34:48

Sometimes it's

super-duper-duper-trooper boring.

0:34:480:34:52

I love singing.

0:34:520:34:55

# La-laaa!

0:34:550:34:58

# Ahhhh!

0:34:580:34:59

I like to sing.

0:34:590:35:00

A lot.

0:35:000:35:01

A lot!

0:35:010:35:02

A lot, yeah.

0:35:020:35:05

It's just like another

world you can go to.

0:35:050:35:09

# On my own, pretending

he's beside me.

0:35:090:35:16

# All alone, I walk...

0:35:160:35:19

Because of your donations,

whilst she's in hospital,

0:35:190:35:24

Vanessa's love of music

is being nurtured.

0:35:240:35:27

This is Colette, she's

a professional singer

0:35:270:35:29

from Spread a Smile,

a charity that entertains

0:35:290:35:33

seriously ill children.

0:35:330:35:37

She's there to make Vanessa feel

like the star she is.

0:35:370:35:46

# In the rain, the pavement

shines like silver...

0:35:490:35:51

Spread a Smile are just brilliant.

0:35:510:35:52

They give you a little

break from worrying

0:35:520:35:54

about what's going to go wrong.

0:35:540:35:56

Every single child is so precious

in their own right.

0:35:560:35:58

And we want to make sure

that when we go in there

0:35:580:36:01

they know how special

they really, really are.

0:36:010:36:05

Shall we do this bit,

and then when we get

0:36:050:36:08

to I Dreamed A Dream...

0:36:080:36:09

They make every child happy.

0:36:090:36:11

10 million times happier.

0:36:110:36:17

# When I was young and unafraid...

0:36:170:36:21

Beautiful.

0:36:210:36:22

# And dreams were made and used

and wasted # There was no ransom

0:36:220:36:30

to be paid

0:36:300:36:35

# No song unsung,

no wine untasted.

0:36:350:36:41

Beautiful.

0:36:410:36:47

This summer, Vanessa started

a new course of treatment -

0:36:470:36:50

the last available.

0:36:500:36:54

and the last chance

of saving Vanessa's life.

0:36:540:36:59

This trial has only

just been launched.

0:36:590:37:03

And we're taking a risk by hoping.

0:37:030:37:09

But, realistically, it's very

unlikely that she'll make it.

0:37:090:37:14

Everyday counts now.

0:37:140:37:22

All through Vanessa's

painful treatments, Spread

0:37:220:37:25

a Smile were by her side.

0:37:250:37:28

And the difference

they made was amazing.

0:37:280:37:31

When she's in pain, singing

is like her magic potion.

0:37:310:37:35

When she sings,

she feels much better.

0:37:350:37:37

# Nothing can capture

a heart like a melody can!

0:37:370:37:42

Despite incredible work

of Great Ormond Street Hospital,

0:37:420:37:45

it became clear that there

was nothing more that

0:37:450:37:49

could be done for Vanessa.

0:37:490:37:53

On the 6th of September this year,

Vanessa left hospital for the last

0:37:530:37:57

time, to spend some precious moments

with her friends,

0:37:570:38:01

family and loved ones.

0:38:010:38:08

# I ask in all honesty,

what can life be...

0:38:080:38:18

I love singing.

0:38:180:38:22

It's fun and it relaxes me.

0:38:220:38:26

It makes me calmer,

when I get stressed.

0:38:260:38:36

What an amazing little girl, Vanessa

was and our love goes to your

0:38:570:39:03

family. And those who helped you. If

you can donate tonight, call... You

0:39:030:39:15

can also donate online... Send a

text.

0:39:150:39:28

Thank you very, very much. I have a

question. It is quite important. If

0:39:280:39:38

there is something strange in your

neighbourhood, who will you call?

0:39:380:39:42

Ghostbusters. But if there is

something strange in your

0:39:420:39:47

neighbourhood, and the neighbourhood

is in the 1960s, and you are

0:39:470:39:51

pregnant, who would you call? Is the

answer still Ghostbusters? You will

0:39:510:39:59

Call the Midwife. This is what to

expect ahead of their Christmas

0:39:590:40:05

special.

0:40:050:40:10

# It's a yum-yummy world made

for sweethearts

0:40:100:40:14

# Take a walk

with your favourite girl

0:40:140:40:16

# It's

a sugar date What if spring is late?

0:40:160:40:19

# In winter it's

a marshmallow world...

0:40:190:40:21

#

Are you sure you don't

want me to lend you my

0:40:210:40:24

thermal-lined galoshes?

0:40:240:40:25

Christopher and I aren't just

going skiing, Phyllis.

0:40:250:40:27

We're going apres-skiing, too.

0:40:270:40:34

And what does that entail?

0:40:340:40:35

My accessories coming under

quite a lot of scrutiny.

0:40:350:40:45

Good grief.

0:40:470:40:50

Fred!

0:40:500:40:52

It's a long time since we've

seen anything like this.

0:40:520:40:55

Morning, Nurse Crane.

0:40:550:40:57

Or should I say, baby,

it's cold outside!

0:40:570:41:02

APPLAUSE.

0:41:020:41:09

Yes, can't wait for that.

0:41:090:41:11

That show always brings back

memories of our first born -

0:41:110:41:15

the gas and air, the pain,

the screams, the tears...

0:41:150:41:18

And that was just me.

0:41:180:41:23

You did very well.

0:41:230:41:30

I like it when you share. It is like

I was there.

0:41:300:41:35

Still to come, we've got a global

exclusive from Jason Derulo,

0:41:350:41:37

The Vamps perform live and I host

a very special Humes' House Party.

0:41:370:41:41

Plus...

0:41:410:41:42

EASTENDERS DUFF DUFFS.

0:41:420:41:47

The EastEnders cast as you've

never seen them before...

0:41:470:41:49

Unless you were watching earlier.

0:41:490:41:51

Thanks for that.

0:41:510:41:53

Time now though, to say

another big thank you.

0:41:530:41:57

At Welcome Break,

the team and the customers

0:41:570:42:00

have been fundraising all year.

0:42:000:42:03

And we're here to give them

a welcome break of their own.

0:42:030:42:07

I've got this.

Next, please.

0:42:070:42:09

You look exhausted, come on.

Tea break for you.

0:42:090:42:11

I'll take over.

See if I can do anything.

0:42:110:42:15

Enjoy.

Children In Need, please.

0:42:150:42:18

OK, ladies.

Go and sit down.

0:42:180:42:20

You deserve a rest, OK?

I'll take over.

0:42:200:42:21

There we go!

0:42:210:42:22

Tour de France, here we come.

0:42:220:42:24

Eh! What are you doing?!

0:42:240:42:25

I'm having a sit down.

0:42:250:42:28

We haven't got time for a break,

we've got a performance to do.

0:42:280:42:31

Come on!

0:42:310:42:32

Oh! You're such a bully!

Come on!

0:42:320:42:33

# Bring me sunshine

0:42:330:42:35

# Bring me love

0:42:350:42:37

# Bring me fun

0:42:370:42:38

# Bring me sunshine

0:42:380:42:40

# Bring me love. #

0:42:400:42:43

To you, the team, and the customers

all across the country...

0:42:430:42:46

# Thank you! #

0:42:460:42:47

APPLAUSE.

0:42:470:42:55

APPLAUSE

.

0:42:550:43:02

Loving your work!

0:43:020:43:03

Thanks to everyone at Welcome Break

for their brilliant

0:43:030:43:05

fundraising efforts.

0:43:050:43:06

Let's see how much you've raised...

0:43:060:43:09

APPLAUSE.

0:43:090:43:17

Look at that. Incredible.

0:43:170:43:19

That is absolutely incredible.

0:43:190:43:20

Thank you to everyone involved.

0:43:200:43:24

That was satisfyingly beat.

0:43:240:43:26

Right, earlier tonight you might

have seen the East End transform

0:43:270:43:30

itself into the West End,

as Albert Square's finest performed

0:43:300:43:32

some musical classics.

0:43:320:43:33

If you missed it, don't worry,

there's another chance

0:43:330:43:36

to watch it coming right up.

0:43:360:43:37

But first, here's the story

of how your favourite Eastenders

0:43:370:43:39

turned into overnight singing

and dancing sensations.

0:43:390:43:43

It's Saturday morning,

and we're at Elstree,

0:43:430:43:45

home of Albert Square.

0:43:450:43:47

And it's not even eight o'clock.

0:43:470:43:48

It's still yesterday.

0:43:480:43:50

That's how early it is.

0:43:500:43:55

It's Children in Need,

East End meets West End.

0:43:550:44:00

It's really weird to come to work

and see everyone wandering around

0:44:000:44:03

in these period costumes.

0:44:030:44:07

Pudsey's watching you,

so give it some welly, yeah?

0:44:070:44:10

We are singing Who Will

Buy, from Oliver.

0:44:100:44:13

We have the flower seller,

selling her roses and then

0:44:130:44:16

the whole street comes alive.

0:44:160:44:18

It's awake, it's

a fantastic morning.

0:44:180:44:19

And it just makes you want to sing.

0:44:190:44:24

# Who will buy this

wonderful morning?

0:44:240:44:25

I'm running

down the square.

0:44:250:44:27

Like a maniac.

0:44:270:44:28

In Victorian costume.

0:44:280:44:29

# Who will tie it up with a ribbon,

and put it in a box for me?

0:44:290:44:33

Days like this are

really, really fun.

0:44:330:44:34

Because also you get

to work with everyone.

0:44:340:44:36

I'm never in a scene

with someone like Zachary.

0:44:360:44:38

But you get to actually

interact and work with

0:44:380:44:41

people you don't usually.

0:44:410:44:42

To be able to do something

that is this much fun

0:44:420:44:44

for Children in Need,

well, it's an honour and a privilege

0:44:440:44:47

and I'm thrilled to be here.

0:44:470:44:50

We're doing a bit from my fair Lady.

0:44:500:44:53

Get Me To The Church.

0:44:530:44:55

We're about to film now.

0:44:550:44:56

In this scene we're getting Richard

to the church to marry his bride.

0:44:560:44:59

Who will it be?

0:44:590:45:00

Guess who?

0:45:000:45:05

We have about 45

people in this scene.

0:45:050:45:08

It's a very busy street scene.

0:45:080:45:10

As you can see.

0:45:100:45:12

Lots of people backstage.

0:45:120:45:13

SHOUTING

0:45:130:45:14

Manic.

0:45:140:45:20

Good, innit?

0:45:200:45:22

OK, first positions, folks, please.

0:45:220:45:24

First positions, thank you.

0:45:240:45:32

We're in the Queen Vic.

0:45:320:45:33

We are zhuzhing up the bride.

0:45:330:45:35

There's a good, positive

energy going about.

0:45:350:45:37

I get to wear make up

for the first time.

0:45:370:45:40

Karen Taylor don't wear any make-up

or anything, so this is great.

0:45:400:45:42

And doesn't she look wonderful?

0:45:420:45:44

Thank you.

0:45:440:45:45

She looks amazing.

0:45:450:45:46

# Get me to the church on time.

0:45:460:45:49

Cut!

0:45:490:45:51

Dean does look pretty fit.

0:45:510:45:52

He looks gorgeous, doesn't he?

0:45:520:45:54

Pudsey, this is the last one, OK?

0:45:540:46:00

Any more trouble, I'm

going to have to kick you out.

0:46:000:46:03

We are on the infamous

roof of the Queen Vic.

0:46:030:46:09

It's the first time

I've been up here.

0:46:090:46:11

We're doing Step In Time.

0:46:110:46:13

From Mary Poppins.

0:46:130:46:14

Put a little bit of tap in there.

0:46:140:46:16

It's decent.

0:46:160:46:17

Oi!

0:46:170:46:18

Turn it in, what's

the matter with you?

0:46:180:46:20

Liberty.

0:46:200:46:24

OK, let's just clear

the area, please, thank you.

0:46:240:46:34

This song is from Les Mis,

it's called On My Own.

0:46:340:46:36

# When I lose my way I close my eyes

And he has found me.

0:46:360:46:40

I got a bit emotional, because,

well, it's the song.

0:46:400:46:42

It's what we're doing it for.

0:46:420:46:44

# Without me his world

will go on turning.

0:46:440:46:46

Yeah, want to do it

again now, it's great.

0:46:460:46:48

Children in Need!

0:46:480:46:51

Just realised, I actually look

like Paddington Bear.

0:46:510:46:54

Right now we're doing

Monday Morning.

0:46:540:47:00

# Monday Morning.

0:47:000:47:01

It's going really well,

and I'm really getting into it.

0:47:010:47:05

At the end of it we're

actually doing an air punch.

0:47:050:47:08

Which I think I've done many

a time in a Blue video.

0:47:080:47:11

I'm trying to school everyone

into how to really give it some,

0:47:110:47:14

bit of a raised eyebrow at the end.

0:47:140:47:16

That's a wrap!

0:47:160:47:17

Thank you.

0:47:170:47:18

Good job.

0:47:180:47:19

Good job.

0:47:190:47:21

Can I just show you my air grab?

0:47:210:47:23

That's a wrap!

0:47:230:47:28

APPLAUSE

0:47:280:47:32

Love the air grab.

We've done a few

of them in our Time.

I know.

0:47:320:47:39

Hats off to the cast of EastEnders,

that is one epic effort all in aid

0:47:390:47:42

of Children in Need.

0:47:420:47:43

And if you want to see the full

performance stay tuned,

0:47:430:47:46

their amazing West End tribute

is coming up a little later on.

0:47:460:47:49

Of course we do.

0:47:490:47:50

Time now though for a very special

performance from one of the biggest

0:47:500:47:54

names in music.

0:47:540:47:55

He's won Grammy's,

Golden Globe's and even an Oscar.

0:47:550:48:01

With a world exclusive -

this is a real treat -

0:48:010:48:04

it's Sam Smith.

0:48:040:48:09

Hello, everyone, it's Sam Smith

here and I'm so proud to be part

0:48:090:48:12

of Children In Need 2017.

0:48:120:48:13

Please, if you can,

do your thing and donate

0:48:130:48:15

Thank you.

0:48:210:48:25

# Ba-ba doo, ba-ba doo-oo

0:48:320:48:38

# Ba-ba doo, ba-ba doo-oo

0:48:380:48:44

# I choose me

0:48:520:48:55

# And I know

that's selfish, love

0:48:550:48:57

# You are a dream

0:48:570:48:59

# And I can't thank you enough

0:48:590:49:10

# But I give a little

piece of me away

0:49:160:49:19

# Every waking day that I'm with you

0:49:190:49:21

# Am I a monster?

0:49:210:49:22

# What will your family think of me?

0:49:220:49:24

# They brought me in

0:49:240:49:25

# They helped me out with everything

0:49:250:49:27

# But I give a little

piece of me away

0:49:270:49:29

# Every single day

0:49:290:49:33

# So I pick up the pieces

0:49:330:49:35

# I get on the midnight

0:49:350:49:38

# I got my reasons

0:49:380:49:41

# But darling I can't explain

0:49:410:49:44

# I'll always love you

0:49:440:49:49

# But tonight's the night

I choose to walk away

0:49:490:49:54

# Ba-ba doo, ba-ba doo-oo

0:49:540:50:04

# Oh-oh

0:50:040:50:05

# Ba-ba doo, ba-ba doo-oo

0:50:050:50:15

# Love you so much

# I'll miss your touch

0:50:190:50:23

# And the secrets we both know

0:50:230:50:25

# But it would be

wrong for me to stay

0:50:250:50:28

# And I'll just give you hope

0:50:280:50:32

# So I pick up the pieces

0:50:320:50:36

# I get on the midnight

train

0:50:360:50:38

# I got my reasons

0:50:380:50:40

# But darling I can't explain

0:50:400:50:43

# I'll always love you

0:50:430:50:51

# But tonight's the night

I choose to walk away

0:50:510:50:54

# I can't stop crying

0:50:540:50:59

# I hate that

I've caused you pain

0:50:590:51:01

# But I can't deny it

0:51:010:51:02

# I just don't feel the same

0:51:020:51:04

# I'll always love you

0:51:040:51:09

# But tonight's the night

I choose to walk away

0:51:090:51:12

# Ba-ba doo, ba-ba doo-oo

0:51:120:51:16

# Oh-ooh

0:51:160:51:19

# Ba-ba doo, ba-ba doo-oo

0:51:190:51:29

# And so I pick up the pieces

0:51:320:51:35

# I get on the midnight

train

0:51:350:51:37

# I got my reasons

0:51:370:51:41

# But darling I can't explain

0:51:410:51:45

# I'll always love you

0:51:450:51:51

# But tonight's the night

I choose to walk away.#

0:51:510:51:59

APPLAUSE

0:51:590:52:09

So good.

0:52:120:52:15

What an incredible performance

from Sam Smith, a beautiful song,

0:52:150:52:17

and thanks for doing your thing

for Children in Need.

0:52:170:52:21

Thank you very much indeed.

0:52:210:52:25

Right, I think it's about time

we opened the door to the Humes'

0:52:250:52:28

family home and had ourselves

a House Party.

0:52:280:52:31

I said it would work and it did.

I

mean, it shocked me all the same!

0:52:310:52:36

Sorry.

0:52:360:52:46

When it comes to house parties there

can only be one winner.

It wasn't as

0:52:470:52:52

good as yours. It wasn't.

I'm trying

to be dramatic.

0:52:520:53:00

Welcome to Humes HQ.

0:53:000:53:01

Casa Humes.

0:53:010:53:02

Maison de Marvin.

0:53:020:53:06

I love what you've done with the

place. I love it. If there is a mark

0:53:060:53:13

on the floor put down lino. Are you

excited to be in the Humes house

0:53:130:53:18

tonight?

CHEERING.

0:53:180:53:26

Now we have ourselves a House Party

predicament, don't we,

0:53:260:53:29

because you two can't agree

on the guest list?

0:53:290:53:31

That's right.

0:53:310:53:35

I wanted to invite the lads

round for a boys night.

0:53:350:53:45

into a bit of a ladies night.

0:53:480:53:54

I wanted to turn this

0:53:540:53:55

into a bit of a ladies night.

0:53:550:53:59

Well, the only way to settle this

is by playing a game.

0:53:590:54:02

Marvin, you go over there.

0:54:020:54:03

Rochelle, you're over here.

0:54:030:54:04

Looks like they've had a row.

0:54:040:54:05

Now, it's not much of a party

without some guests.

0:54:050:54:08

So, from Marvin's guest

list please welcome -

0:54:080:54:10

Peter Andre, Chris Hollins and Jay

McGuinness.

0:54:100:54:11

APPLAUSE.

0:54:110:54:21

You can smell the testosterone.

Is

that ha what it is.

Jay is going to

0:54:210:54:25

get so hot in that jumper!

0:54:250:54:36

And from Rochelle's guest list

it's - Kimberley Walsh,

0:54:360:54:38

Denise Van Outen and Kate Garraway!

0:54:380:54:39

APPLAUSE.

0:54:390:54:42

Welcome to my house.

Hello.

Welcome.

Hello.

Denise has come in full sofa

0:54:420:54:53

camouflage.

I got the memo.

0:54:530:54:59

Right, Marvin and Rochelle,

your guests are going to have

0:54:590:55:05

to help you win your party

via the gift of dance.

0:55:050:55:10

You have to guess what

they're dancing to.

0:55:100:55:12

The twist is you won't be able

to hear the music as you'll be

0:55:120:55:15

wearing some highly fashionable

noise cancelling headphones -

0:55:150:55:17

so essentially it's dance charades.

0:55:170:55:18

We understand, yes?

I think.

Highly

fashionable!

They are all the rage.

0:55:180:55:26

Lads, you're up first,

head on over to the dancefloor.

0:55:260:55:29

Put those on. We can do this. You

three have been on Strictly. A bit

0:55:290:55:36

of an advantage.

So have you? Oh,

yes. YES!

This will be the greatest

0:55:360:55:45

dance party of all-time!

0:55:450:55:48

OK Marvin, so there's 90

seconds on the clock.

0:55:480:55:52

If you're correct, it

will show up on the screen,

0:55:520:55:54

and we'll move on to the next song.

0:55:540:55:56

If you don't know the

answer, you can pass.

0:55:560:55:58

Please, put on your headphones.

0:55:580:56:00

Here it goes.

Come on. Boys your 90

seconds starts now. Get dancing and

0:56:000:56:07

miming.

Stop in the name of love!

That's correct.

0:56:070:56:16

Cunning-fu Fighting. Rocky. Eye of

the Tiger.

Yes.

Single Ladies.

It's

0:56:190:56:30

easy.

0:56:300:56:35

Titanic My Heart Will Go On.

Yes.

Next up.

Gangnam Style.

Very good.

0:56:550:57:03

That is correct. Let's move on.

0:57:030:57:08

We Are The Champions. Superman.

You

can pass. Let's move.

Pass, pass.

0:57:100:57:25

Shake It Off.

Can we squeeze in one

more?

MC Hammer - Can't Touch This.

0:57:250:57:38

CHEERING AND APPLAUSE

That was really good.

Good work,

0:57:380:57:43

boys.

You were on it.

0:57:430:57:48

That was really good.

I have to say,

that was absolutely phenomenal work.

0:57:510:57:55

It was. No pressure ladies. No

pressure.

Eight of those correct.

0:57:550:58:02

Can I apologise to everyone on the

front row who had Chris Hollins

0:58:020:58:08

doing the Birdie Dance. People don't

need to see that on telly. Face the

0:58:080:58:12

front. You guys got eight. Very well

done indeed.

Oh, OK.

0:58:120:58:18

APPLAUSE

Ladies how are we feeling. Can you

0:58:180:58:26

beat that

As long as ours are easy

like that.

Any excuse.

Just getting

0:58:260:58:31

it in there. Mint

Get up on the

dance floor.

Come on then. We can do

0:58:310:58:36

this.

0:58:360:58:43

Your 90 seconds start now!

0:58:430:58:51

Kylie Minogue, Can't Get You Out of

my Head. Umbrella.

0:58:510:59:06

Kate ??SPAC Bush. Oh, my gosh.

0:59:120:59:19

-- Kate Bush. Oh, my gosh. Tiger.

Roar.

0:59:230:59:36

Agadoo. Adele!

Yes, it's Adele.

Adele.

Hello.

0:59:400:59:56

Everybody in Love.

1:00:031:00:06

Footloose! BUZZER SOUNDS

Right at the end there you snuck a

1:00:151:00:34

point in.

I'm sweating. I was

desperate to win.

You were sweating.

1:00:341:00:39

Who was doing the dancing?

How

obvious, Adele - Hello!

I know. You

1:00:391:00:46

were amazing roaring. I want to see

it back slowly. So good.

You got

1:00:461:00:51

there in the end. The scores are

coming in. You are not going to

1:00:511:00:54

believe this everybody.

No way.

We've got a tie!

Surely not.

We plan

1:00:541:01:02

for these things on Children in

Need. We have a tie-break situation.

1:01:021:01:07

I need both boys and girls up on to

the dance floor, please.

1:01:071:01:10

In a second, Marvin and Rochelle

will put the headphones on and they

1:01:181:01:22

will dance to the same song and

whoever calls out the correct answer

1:01:221:01:25

first.

All right, imposition,

dancers.

This is intense. This is

1:01:251:01:36

like Christmas Day at our house.

Headphones on. Are we ready? Here

1:01:361:01:49

comes the track.

1:01:491:02:00

Walk Like An Egyptian. Yes. You were

already in there.

I feel you set

1:02:011:02:15

that up a little bit.

Congratulations to the boys. Well

1:02:151:02:23

done, Marvin.

APPLAUSE

1:02:231:02:35

Listen, thank you, ladies.

Thank

you.

1:02:351:02:50

# The winner takes it all.

Thank you to the guests.

1:02:501:03:01

Mr and Mrs Humes, the good

news is there's a chance

1:03:011:03:03

to play double or quits in another

game a little bit later.

1:03:031:03:10

Time now to say

a very big thank you.

1:03:101:03:15

First up, the car dealership chain

Lookers and their customers

1:03:151:03:18

have raised a huge amount of money

for Children in Need this year.

1:03:181:03:23

To tell us more, our roving reporter

Georgia is on the ground.

1:03:231:03:27

Hi, I'm here in London

where a few of the staff

1:03:271:03:30

are playing some very fun games.

1:03:301:03:32

We've got a Scalextric race

between staff and customers.

1:03:321:03:34

Everyone is just having a lot

of fun, there's a lot of buzzing

1:03:341:03:37

vibes in the showroom.

1:03:371:03:38

Wow, that's brilliant.

1:03:381:03:42

Now to our community groups,

and, once again, Rotary,

1:03:421:03:45

Ladies' Circle and Round Table have

been fundraising everywhere.

1:03:451:03:49

We have footage just

in of the Rotary Club

1:03:491:03:51

in Horsham, who have put

on another spectacular party.

1:03:511:03:56

Ladies' Circle have been collecting

nonstop on behalf of Pudsey.

1:03:561:03:59

And I'm hearing Round Table

are doing a cycle challenge

1:03:591:04:01

from Ireland to Wales.

1:04:011:04:02

It's all happening.

1:04:021:04:05

So, a huge CiN News thank

you to everyone involved.

1:04:051:04:07

Good night.

1:04:071:04:16

A huge congratulations to everyone

at Lookers and all the

1:04:161:04:19

community groups.

1:04:191:04:20

Thanks for all your hard work.

1:04:201:04:22

Now, you're all doing so many

amazing things across the

1:04:221:04:25

country for Children in Need

and it's all for one very

1:04:251:04:28

important reason - to support young

people who need your

1:04:281:04:30

help.

1:04:301:04:32

Here's the brilliant

Jim Broadbent to tell you more.

1:04:321:04:34

I'd like to talk to

you about a family.

1:04:341:04:38

I'm going to call them the Davis

family to protect their identity.

1:04:381:04:41

There's Mum, Dad, a teenage

son I'll call Peter,

1:04:411:04:45

and a six-year-old daughter

I'll call Betty.

1:04:451:04:47

Everything was going well for them.

1:04:471:04:50

Money was tight, like it is for many

families, but life was good.

1:04:501:04:53

Mum stayed at home to look after

the children and Dad went to work.

1:04:531:04:58

But then Mum was

diagnosed with cancer.

1:04:581:05:00

She had an operation

and there were complications.

1:05:001:05:03

Mum is now going to hospital every

day for chemotherapy

1:05:031:05:07

and radiotherapy, just

to stay alive.

1:05:071:05:13

Dad has had to give up work

to look after everyone.

1:05:131:05:16

This is a terrible time

for the whole family,

1:05:161:05:18

and their future is horribly

uncertain.

1:05:181:05:20

They've moved from one council

flat to another to be

1:05:201:05:22

closer to the hospital.

1:05:221:05:25

In their last flat, Betty

had her own bedroom with a bed

1:05:251:05:28

that was built in to the wall.

1:05:281:05:30

When they moved they couldn't take

the bed with them and,

1:05:301:05:34

because Dad has had to give up work

to look after everyone,

1:05:341:05:37

they can't afford to buy a new one.

1:05:371:05:39

It means Betty is now having

to share a bed with her Mum -

1:05:391:05:42

her mum, who is desperately ill

and weak after those daily

1:05:421:05:45

trips to the hospital

for life-saving treatment.

1:05:451:05:50

A family shouldn't have

to live like this.

1:05:501:05:53

Betty should have her own bed.

1:05:531:05:56

Mum's ill health means that,

even when Betty does go

1:05:561:05:59

to bed, she's not getting

a proper night's sleep.

1:05:591:06:02

This is a real family.

1:06:021:06:03

This is their life.

1:06:031:06:06

This is terrible.

1:06:061:06:09

But I'm so happy to be

able to tell you that,

1:06:091:06:12

through your donations,

BBC Children In Need have made

1:06:121:06:15

an emergency grant to this family

through an organisation called

1:06:151:06:17

Buttle UK.

1:06:171:06:21

A grant which will buy

little Betty a new bed.

1:06:211:06:25

It won't make her mum better,

it won't make this family's

1:06:251:06:28

future any more certain,

but it will, hopefully, mean that

1:06:281:06:30

Betty has a good night's sleep.

1:06:301:06:33

And everything, everything feels

just a little bit better

1:06:331:06:36

after a good night's sleep.

1:06:361:06:39

Betty's family aren't alone.

1:06:391:06:41

It's estimated that there

are 4 million children living

1:06:411:06:46

in poverty in the UK right now.

1:06:461:06:48

Please help us to continue

to support Buttle UK in the vital

1:06:481:06:51

work they do supporting some of this

country's most

1:06:511:06:53

disadvantaged children.

1:06:531:06:56

The number to call is...

1:06:561:07:05

Thank you.

1:07:161:07:21

That's just one example of a family

who really needs your help.

1:07:211:07:24

You have the power to change

lives and to make a

1:07:241:07:27

huge difference and we're asking

you to please do that

1:07:271:07:29

tonight.

1:07:291:07:33

There are so many ways to do your

thing and donate tonight...

1:07:331:07:43

Or you can text.

1:07:471:07:57

Texts will cost your donation

plus your standard network message

1:08:001:08:03

charge and all of your donation

will go to BBC Children in Need.

1:08:031:08:09

You must be 16 or over

and please ask the bill

1:08:091:08:11

payer's permission.

1:08:111:08:12

For full terms and

conditions and more

1:08:121:08:15

information visit bbc.co.uk/Pudsey.

1:08:151:08:16

Thank you.

1:08:161:08:22

There's still loads more coming up

1:08:221:08:29

Are you coping OK? With me being a

DJ, I am a night owl.

1:08:291:08:39

I own these mean streets after dark,

I am the Night King.

1:08:391:08:42

And will the Night King be

sucking his thumb later

1:08:421:08:45

to help him get to sleep?

1:08:451:08:47

Maybe.

1:08:471:08:49

Do you know what I

can't wait to see?

1:08:491:08:51

Don't do it Matt.

1:08:511:08:52

EASTENDERS DUFF DUFFS.

1:08:521:09:00

I have not got good rhythm.

1:09:001:09:02

EastEnders.

1:09:021:09:07

I know you want to have a go.

Later

on, we will do it together.

1:09:071:09:16

That's coming up in a bit but first

we've got some great music for you.

1:09:161:09:20

I watched them rehearsing earlier

and they were brilliant.

1:09:201:09:22

They had a rehearsal?

1:09:221:09:23

Why didn't we do that?

1:09:231:09:27

We did overlook that.

1:09:271:09:29

Performing Personal,

let's hear it for The Vamps!

1:09:291:09:31

APPLAUSE.

1:09:311:09:39

How are you feeling?

1:09:391:09:44

# Don't take it personal,

but personally

1:09:441:09:47

# I think you'd be better with

somebody like me

1:09:471:09:49

# But worst of all

1:09:491:09:53

# You don't even see

1:09:531:09:55

# I think it's time

I lay my heart out on the line

1:09:551:09:59

# I see you out with him

I say that I?m fine

1:10:041:10:09

I say that I'm fine

1:10:091:10:12

# It happens every time every time

1:10:121:10:13

# I'm sick and tired

of playing games,

1:10:131:10:15

# I'm sick and tired

of being second place

1:10:151:10:19

1:12:501:12:54

CHEERING

1:12:541:13:00

What a performance!

1:13:001:13:03

Thanks to Brad, James,

Connor and Tristan -

1:13:031:13:05

that was awesome.

1:13:051:13:12

That was great.

That was inspiring.

1:13:121:13:20

I'm going to suggest something big

1:13:201:13:22

now.

1:13:221:13:23

Big.

1:13:231:13:24

Something epic.

1:13:241:13:25

What?

1:13:251:13:26

Us three team up and

form our own band.

1:13:261:13:28

Been there, done that mate.

1:13:281:13:31

We've got the T-shirt Matt.

1:13:311:13:34

But this would be different -

not a boy band, not a girl

1:13:341:13:37

band but...

1:13:371:13:38

Something in between.

1:13:381:13:42

It would work.

1:13:421:13:44

What would we call ourselves?

1:13:441:13:50

You were in The Saturdays,

but we're here

1:13:501:13:52

tonight, so how about the Fridays?

1:13:521:13:53

Not in a month of Sundays.

1:13:531:13:57

Marvin, you were in JLS -

so how about JL-Yes?

1:13:571:14:02

JL-No.

1:14:021:14:08

Shall we just move on?

1:14:081:14:13

Tonight, when you pick

up your phone to donate,

1:14:131:14:15

it's technology that takes

you from your phone...

1:14:151:14:19

To a wonderful volunteer

in a call centre.

1:14:191:14:27

So, Mandeep, when I press dial

on my phone, where does the call go?

1:14:271:14:30

Well, Connie, it travels

along the telephone wire

1:14:301:14:35

into the intelligent network,

that we call the superbrain.

1:14:351:14:38

From there, it goes to the call

centre which is most appropriate.

1:14:381:14:40

Got you.

1:14:401:14:41

So, Raza, what happens

once I'm put through?

1:14:411:14:43

You get to chat to someone like me

and I'll process your donation.

1:14:431:14:47

But, Harry, who makes sure that it

all runs according to plan?

1:14:471:14:50

You don't have to worry about that.

1:14:501:14:52

We've got a team of experts watching

the donation system all the time.

1:14:521:14:55

Phew!

1:14:551:14:58

So, a massive thank

you to the clever-clogs here.

1:14:581:15:02

We couldn't do it without you.

1:15:021:15:04

PHONE RINGS.

1:15:041:15:05

Hello?

1:15:051:15:07

I actually know how this works now.

1:15:071:15:08

You want to donate?

1:15:081:15:09

Nice!

1:15:091:15:13

APPLAUSE

1:15:131:15:17

A big thank you to everyone at BT -

we could not do this

1:15:171:15:21

show without you.

1:15:211:15:25

You're all brilliant.

1:15:251:15:28

Let's make sure they're busy

and having to take a lot of

1:15:281:15:31

phone calls tonight.

1:15:311:15:37

Earlier you saw people coming

together from the 80s Rocks.

1:15:371:15:49

Throughout the night people were

donating so we can see how much you

1:15:491:15:52

raised from the concert itself.

Thank you for everyone involved. You

1:15:521:16:07

can watch that concert later on

tonight.

1:16:071:16:11

When Marvin and I first came on

tonight we showed you a film about a

1:16:191:16:28

family that has truly touched you.

We've been inundated by your

1:16:281:16:32

donations. Because tonight is about

raising as much as we can, we're

1:16:321:16:36

going to show it again. Here's Sam

Smith.

1:16:361:16:42

There is no doubt that

life can be cruel.

1:16:421:16:44

The family you are about

to meet know this.

1:16:441:16:46

They really know this.

1:16:461:16:48

I don't know how they begin to cope

with what's happened to them

1:16:481:16:51

and they cope with incredible love,

grace and dignity.

1:16:511:16:53

What I do know is that your

donations have helped them.

1:16:531:16:55

And for that they are grateful.

1:16:551:16:57

This is an upsetting film,

but please stay with it

1:16:571:16:59

because it is really,

really important.

1:16:591:17:01

Doing really well, Noah.

1:17:011:17:02

Six!

1:17:021:17:03

Looking at him, you wouldn't

have thought there was

1:17:031:17:05

anything wrong with him.

1:17:051:17:06

Yeah.

1:17:061:17:07

He maybe had an unsteady gait,

but apart from that he was

1:17:071:17:10

just perfectly normal.

1:17:101:17:11

Eight years ago, Noah was diagnosed

with a rare form of leukodystrophy.

1:17:111:17:14

It's a life-limiting neurological

disease that has affected every

1:17:141:17:16

aspect of his young life.

1:17:161:17:23

I think he would have been

an athletic wee boy.

1:17:231:17:28

I think he would have

been into his sport,

1:17:281:17:30

I think he would have been very

outgoing, very sociable, you know.

1:17:301:17:34

I would have imagined him coming in,

throwing the football boots down

1:17:341:17:37

and just those normal things that

you just really, you know,

1:17:371:17:40

take for granted.

1:17:401:17:43

Is that a wee bit better?

1:17:431:17:45

Noah is now 11.

1:17:451:17:48

Most children who have this

condition don't live

1:17:481:17:50

beyond their teenage years.

1:17:501:17:52

Are you going to look after me?

1:17:521:17:54

Yeah.

1:17:541:17:55

Would look after me, would you?

1:17:551:17:56

Yeah.

1:17:561:17:58

OK.

1:17:581:17:58

You're my best boy, aren't you?

1:17:581:18:01

We watch Noah and he's starting

to lose a lot of his abilities,

1:18:011:18:05

like even the ability to sit up

on his own.

1:18:051:18:11

And, yeah, cognitively,

he's still very much

1:18:111:18:13

aware of what's going on,

so that for us is heartbreaking.

1:18:131:18:15

Do you need some help, darling?

1:18:151:18:17

No.

1:18:171:18:20

Noah's sister, Gracie,

has witnessed her brother's decline.

1:18:201:18:25

As Noah's condition deteriorates

and he gets worse, it

1:18:251:18:27

affects our whole family.

1:18:271:18:32

Instead of moving towards life,

you're moving towards...

1:18:321:18:34

you know, this...

1:18:341:18:35

death.

1:18:351:18:43

A year after Noah was diagnosed,

our social worker said

1:18:431:18:46

to us about a hospice,

Horizon House.

1:18:461:18:48

I think initially we were like

petrified, weren't we?

1:18:481:18:50

It was just the word "hospice"

and what that meant.

1:18:501:18:53

We did go to Horizon House.

1:18:531:18:55

And it was just such

a fun place to be.

1:18:551:19:04

Horizon House is supported

by your donations and for the past

1:19:041:19:06

seven years, they have been

by Noah's side, giving him

1:19:061:19:09

and his family vital support,

a sense of normality and most

1:19:091:19:11

of all fun.

1:19:111:19:13

THEY LAUGH.

1:19:131:19:14

Noah!

1:19:141:19:15

Get her!

1:19:151:19:16

Get her!

1:19:161:19:17

Put it down.

1:19:171:19:20

The nurses are amazing.

1:19:201:19:22

And it's fun.

1:19:221:19:27

The children just do so much

together when they are there,

1:19:271:19:29

you know, they love it.

1:19:291:19:30

Gracie's been going for as long

as Noah's been going.

1:19:301:19:36

Leukodystrophy is

a genetic condition.

1:19:361:19:44

And a year after Noah's diagnosis,

the family discovered

1:19:441:19:46

that Gracie had it, too.

1:19:461:19:54

When we found out Gracie

had it, it was just

1:19:541:19:56

devastating all over again.

1:19:561:20:01

It's a very, very cruel disease.

1:20:011:20:03

She's watched Noah, so for her...

1:20:031:20:04

..to be watching that,

there's no words to describe

1:20:041:20:06

the heartache that you feel.

1:20:061:20:12

We had so many hopes and dreams

for what our family life

1:20:121:20:15

was going to be like before.

1:20:151:20:21

You know, you think about things

that people take for granted,

1:20:211:20:24

like your children going

to university, meeting a wee

1:20:241:20:26

girlfriend or boyfriend,

getting married and...

1:20:261:20:28

Yeah...

1:20:281:20:30

That's just...the kind of life that

you wanted for them.

1:20:301:20:40

What an incredible family,

and such a sad story.

1:20:531:20:55

We're all sending you our love.

1:20:551:20:56

The support that children's

hospices like Horizon House

1:20:561:20:58

provide is so important for families

like Noah and Gracie's.

1:20:581:21:00

That support would

not be possible

1:21:001:21:02

without your donations.

1:21:021:21:05

So please call...

1:21:051:21:13

Give anything. Don't worry about it

being small. Anything. It really

1:21:131:21:19

does help.

1:21:191:21:20

You can also donate by text...

1:21:201:21:26

Texts will cost your donation

plus your standard network

1:21:261:21:28

message charge and you'll find full

terms and conditions at

1:21:281:21:31

bbc.co.uk/Pudsey.

1:21:311:21:34

Thank you.

1:21:341:21:44

That was a powerful vt. Please give.

1:21:451:21:58

Earlier tonight Marvin you

won our House Party challenge,

1:21:581:22:00

a particularly convoluted

game involving a host of

1:22:001:22:02

celebrities dancing around

like they're in week one on

1:22:021:22:04

Strictly.

1:22:041:22:05

So how about we play

double or quits?

1:22:051:22:07

Now that's something I am up for.

1:22:071:22:09

I can handle that.

1:22:091:22:16

I'm going to win the whole thing.

1:22:161:22:19

In that case, I have just the game.

1:22:191:22:22

Let's find out who knows

"W-Humes" in a Mastermind

1:22:221:22:25

Children in Need special.

1:22:251:22:35

What's going on. Someone has greased

the wheels of this chair.

Nobody

1:22:361:22:41

noticed. Snide was trying to be

authoritative. Y --

I was trying to

1:22:411:22:54

be authoritative as well.

1:22:541:22:56

Welcome to a special

Children in Need version of

1:22:561:22:58

Mastermind, with me, Matt Edmondson

and four of the lushest

1:22:581:23:01

leather chairs you're ever

going to feast your eyes on.

1:23:011:23:03

They're comfy aren't they?

1:23:031:23:04

This is an episode with

a difference because we're

1:23:041:23:06

going to be finding out just how

well this dreamy celebrity

1:23:061:23:09

couple know each other.

1:23:091:23:13

How do we feel about this?

I'm

scared now. I've given it all mouth

1:23:131:23:18

now - if you don't get this right.

It could well be me.

Anniversary

1:23:181:23:23

dates.

Of course it is.

She will

wipe the floor with me on this one.

1:23:231:23:33

I'm expecting the car journey to be

awkward.

Five years of marriage

1:23:331:23:38

could be taken down by quizzing.

1:23:381:23:44

You will each have 90

seconds to answer as many

1:23:441:23:47

questions correctly as you can,

and your specialist

1:23:471:23:48

subjects are...

1:23:481:23:50

each other.

1:23:501:23:51

So without further ado can

we have our first contender.

1:23:511:23:54

That's you. That is you Marvin.

Strong start.

Take it easy on me,

1:23:541:24:01

please. I don't want to be in the

dog house all weekend.

What is your

1:24:011:24:08

name please?

Marvin humans.

Your

specialist subject.

My beautiful

1:24:081:24:14

wife, Rochelle Humes.

He is

buttering me up now. Your 90 seconds

1:24:141:24:18

starts now.

OK.

Who is Rochelle's

celebrity crush?

Anti-with a.

It's

1:24:181:24:25

Eamonn Holmes.

She does like Eamonn

she likes AJ more.

What is the name

1:24:251:24:31

of Rochelle's first pet?

No idea.

It's nutshell the rabbit. When is

1:24:311:24:40

Rochelle's mum's birthday?

Come on.

It was recently, wasn't it?

I need

1:24:401:24:45

an answer.

Pass.

It's today, mate.

What is Rochelle's favourite

1:24:451:24:51

dessert? Stop hitting your knee.

Eton Mess.

No apple crumble. What

1:24:511:25:00

musical instrument did she play?

Recorder.

How old was Rochelle when

1:25:001:25:06

she joined S Club

Junors.

16.

12. What.

What is her

1:25:061:25:15

special nickname for you?

Idiot.

No,

it's Marv. It doesn't sound that

1:25:151:25:21

special. What does she hate you

wearing?

The deep V's from JLS.

He

1:25:211:25:26

knows that!

When is your wedding

anniversary?

27th July 2012.

1:25:261:25:31

Correct.

What was the name of

Rochelle's primary school?

No idea.

1:25:311:25:38

What was your most annoying habit?

Everything.

No I need you to be

1:25:381:25:41

specific.

Probably not making the

bed when I get out of it

No leaving

1:25:411:25:48

cotton buds on the bed side. What is

Rochelle's favourite flavour - I've

1:25:481:25:54

started, so I will finish. Yes. That

deserves a round of applause. That

1:25:541:25:58

was epic. What was her favourite

flavour of ice-cream?

I would say

1:25:581:26:10

vanilla.

Oh, gosh.

No it's lemon.

That's incorrect. You have one

1:26:101:26:17

Rubbish.

You are a lemon.

One pass.

Rochelle's mum's birthday was of

1:26:171:26:24

course?

22nd July. It's not actually

today.

It's my mum's birthday today.

1:26:241:26:31

It is actually.

Happy birthday, mum.

A round of applause for Marvin,

1:26:311:26:36

please.

APPLAUSE.

I would say are you

1:26:361:26:45

feeling confident?

That is the stay

away sign. It can only go better

1:26:451:26:50

than that.

Yes. Only two points to

beat. It's very tense. Our next

1:26:501:26:55

contender, can you make your way to

the chair.

I had better be good now.

1:26:551:27:00

I had better be good now.

Nour name

place.

Row elhe Humes.

Your

1:27:001:27:08

specialist subject?

My husband. He

may not be for much longer.

What is

1:27:081:27:16

Marvin's favourite colour?

Green.

Correct. What is Marvin's favourite

1:27:161:27:20

JLS song?

Love You More.

It's

Everybody in Love. What did Marvin

1:27:201:27:28

wear on your first date?

Um...

Jeans.

And on the top half?

Like a

1:27:281:27:36

shirt.

OK. I'm not going to accept

that. It was a very deep V T-shirt.

1:27:361:27:44

No you didn't I would not have

called you back.

Who is Marvin's

1:27:441:27:49

favourite superhero?

Batman.

He's

put Pamela Anderson in Baywatch.

1:27:491:27:56

He's misunderstood the question.

What did he say his special aldish

1:27:561:28:02

was?

He only makes one thing, that

is a cooked breakfast.

A fu English

1:28:021:28:13

and a cup of tea. What is his

karaoke song?

21 Seconds. That is

1:28:131:28:21

mine. We share it. Hold on. I had to

back you. You.last time.

How many

1:28:211:28:27

times did Marvin take his driving

test?

Once.

That is correct. What

1:28:271:28:30

did he say his signature dance move

was?

Moonwalk.

No, it's lifting up

1:28:301:28:37

his top. What actor would he say

would play him in a movie of his

1:28:371:28:42

life.

Jamie Foxx.

Zac Efron.

Are you

sure?

All right.

Let me do the line,

1:28:421:28:52

please. I' started, so I'll finish.

OK.

Was the worst present Marvin

1:28:521:28:59

said you ever bought him?

I know why

you wanted to finish that one.

1:28:591:29:07

Probably... I don't know.

It makes

him sound ungrateful. Tickets to a

1:29:071:29:13

Chelsea game, but he was sitting in

the Spurs end.

Oh, yes, sorry.

1:29:131:29:20

APPLAUSE. At the end of that we do

have a winner. It was weirdly close.

1:29:201:29:29

I was going to say.

Rochelle you got

three points, Marvin got two.

That

1:29:291:29:37

was hard. That was really hard.

Our

Mastermind Children in Need 2017

1:29:371:29:46

Champion is... Rochelle Humes

everybody.

I'm happy with that.

1:29:461:29:51

That.

So you should be. Exceptional

quizzing everybody. I tell you what,

1:29:511:29:58

we deserve a true prize. You weren't

keen on my band name earlier.

No.

Or

1:29:581:30:03

us becoming a band. I have given it

thought and created official

1:30:031:30:12

merchandise for our new band, Pudsey

an the bears. I'm Pudsey.

You put

1:30:121:30:19

the effort in.

I'm not interested in

joining the band.

Are you quitting

1:30:191:30:27

the band. It takes me back to when

Robbie Williams left Take That. We

1:30:271:30:31

could be a two piece. The dead wood

is gone. We don't need them. We

1:30:311:30:34

could be up there with the best

double acts of all-time. Simon and

1:30:341:30:40

Garfunkel. Robson and Jerome.

I'm

not feeling, it you know. I don't

1:30:401:30:45

want to be in the band.

You're

saying I should go solo. No hard

1:30:451:30:51

feelings. You can keep the T-shirt.

Wear them at PJs.

How about actual

1:30:511:30:58

music.

Let us move on. He's sold

more than 50 million singles, he

1:30:581:31:07

wracked up two billion views online.

A small start then.

Is it Chico.

It

1:31:071:31:13

is not. Absolutely not.

In a world

exclusive performing Tiptoe make

1:31:131:31:21

some noise for Jason Derulo.

It

makes more sense.

1:31:211:31:24

Hey, what's up, I'm Jason Derulo

CHEERING

1:34:551:35:05

Yes.

1:35:061:35:07

What a performance

from Jason Derulo.

1:35:071:35:11

I love that.

1:35:111:35:13

Thanks for being a part of our show.

1:35:131:35:15

Time now for another big thank you.

1:35:151:35:17

Cineworld have called action

on their fundraising

1:35:171:35:18

for Children in Need.

1:35:181:35:20

They've directed staff and customers

to become stars and raise

1:35:201:35:23

as much money as possible.

1:35:231:35:27

Donate for Children in Need.

1:35:271:35:31

They've sourced their props and put

on an Oscar-winning performance.

1:35:311:35:34

They've even hosted special

Children in Need screenings,

1:35:341:35:38

all in aid of Pudsey.

1:35:381:35:40

So the Thank You award

goes to everyone who's

1:35:401:35:42

been involved this year.

1:35:421:35:46

It's officially been 20

years of Children in Need

1:35:461:35:48

fundraising for Costco.

1:35:481:35:51

Once again, staff and customers have

been making a super effort

1:35:511:35:53

across all their stores.

1:35:531:36:00

And it's cake and coffee that's been

pulling in the pounds.

1:36:001:36:02

So thank you to all

the staff and customers.

1:36:021:36:05

Here's hoping for another 20 years.

1:36:051:36:12

APPLAUSE

1:36:121:36:14

and Costco, and thanks

1:36:141:36:17

1:36:171:36:25

young lives for the better. We can

1:36:251:36:29

see what you have been doing to

raise money for Children in Need.

1:36:291:36:36

Today we are singing to raise money

for Children in Need.

1:36:361:36:48

Thank you very much. We have had

lots of fun and made lots of money.

1:36:481:37:03

Thank you very much for braving the

elements. Pudsey especially

1:37:121:37:21

appreciates it.

1:37:211:37:24

Children In Need!

Any spare change

for Children In Need?

1:37:461:37:58

CHEERING

1:38:121:38:29

When is Pudsey coming?

1:38:391:38:41

CHEERING

Pudsey!

We like the charity Children

1:38:451:38:54

In Need and we know everybody likes

dressing up in their pyjamas for it.

1:38:541:39:09

I needed that.

1:39:281:39:34

I am semantic I am 13 years old and

because of view I can go to the

1:39:431:39:54

sports association where I can

compete with people my height on a

1:39:541:40:00

level playing field. Because of your

donations, I get to do something I

1:40:001:40:05

love. Thank you so much.

1:40:051:40:10

Well done and congratulations on

your gold medal. It is great to see

1:40:151:40:18

so many people doing their thing for

Children in Need.

You are absolutely

1:40:181:40:27

fantastic and so are this next lot.

1:40:271:40:30

It is so good. So satisfying.

1:40:361:40:38

EASTENDERS DUFF DUFFS.

1:40:381:40:45

It is amazing. We should hang out

more and keep doing that.

1:40:451:40:50

That's right, it's time

for another look at the cast

1:40:501:40:52

of EastEnders as you've

never seen them before.

1:40:521:40:54

Unless you watched it earlier.

1:40:541:40:55

Right, everyone.

1:40:551:40:57

Remember, this is for

Children in Need.

1:40:571:40:59

Pudsey's watching you,

so give it some welly, yeah?

1:40:591:41:02

Right, stand by.

1:41:021:41:02

APPLAUSE.

Wow. Unbelievable.

1:47:221:47:28

How good was that?

1:47:281:47:29

What a talented bunch.

1:47:291:47:39

Thank you so much, you always come

up trumps, you always

1:47:411:47:43

put your heart and soul

into Children in Need - you're all

1:47:431:47:46

absolutely awesome.

1:47:461:47:47

Shona McGarty - pick up that phone

and call me - Pudsey and

1:47:471:47:50

the Bears wants you.

1:47:501:48:00

Time for our final film of the

night. It's about a little girl that

1:48:231:48:27

none of us will ever forget. Here's

Olivia Colman to tell us more.

1:48:271:48:39

The thought of one of your children

being seriously ill is one

1:48:391:48:42

of life's true horrors.

1:48:421:48:43

As parents, we would give everything

on earth to make them well again,

1:48:431:48:46

everything for a smile.

1:48:461:48:47

I want you to meet

an extraordinarily wonderful little

1:48:471:48:49

girl called Vanessa.

1:48:491:48:51

She made me smile whilst my heart

was breaking because this

1:48:511:48:53

is a very sad film.

1:48:531:48:54

But Vanessa's brave family

wanted us to tell a story

1:48:541:48:57

because your donations

help their little girl

1:48:571:48:58

to smile and they wanted

to say thank you for that.

1:48:581:49:01

I'm Vanessa and I have cancer.

1:49:011:49:03

And I'm four.

1:49:031:49:03

For half her life, Vanessa has been

facing neuroblastoma,

1:49:031:49:06

a very rare type of cancer.

1:49:061:49:07

Her family have watched her

go through countless

1:49:071:49:09

painful procedures.

1:49:091:49:10

I've got two sisters,

and one's called Ruby

1:49:101:49:12

and one's called Zoe.

1:49:121:49:13

There're a bit of a handful, right?

1:49:131:49:15

Because of the treatments

Vanessa has come through,

1:49:151:49:17

she has spent over 800

nights in hospital.

1:49:171:49:18

I live in the hospital.

1:49:181:49:20

My sisters spend their time at home.

1:49:201:49:21

When Vanessa's away from us,

we call her all the time.

1:49:211:49:24

She's been through some

really rough times.

1:49:241:49:26

I'm tired.

1:49:261:49:27

She's really special.

1:49:271:49:28

What are you having for dinner?

1:49:281:49:29

Spaghetti.

1:49:291:49:30

I love mozzarella.

1:49:301:49:31

I especially love mozzarella!

1:49:311:49:37

Vanessa really has

been through it all.

1:49:371:49:40

She's really had every

type of treatment that

1:49:401:49:42

a cancer patient can have.

1:49:421:49:46

I think this is when you went

to intensive care.

1:49:461:49:49

My wife and I feel that

Vanessa deserves happiness,

1:49:491:49:51

given what she's been through.

1:49:511:49:55

Every time I do something

like a procedure or something

1:49:551:49:57

like that, I get one of these beads.

1:49:571:49:59

And each bead is very special.

1:49:591:50:01

These ones are how many

times I've lost my hair.

1:50:011:50:09

You've got how many times?

1:50:091:50:11

Four.

1:50:111:50:20

# Happy birthday to you!

1:50:201:50:21

Sometimes it's

super-duper-duper-trooper boring.

1:50:211:50:22

I love singing.

1:50:221:50:23

# La-laaa!

1:50:231:50:24

# Ahhhh!

1:50:241:50:34

I like to sing.

1:50:371:50:38

A lot.

1:50:381:50:39

A lot!

1:50:391:50:40

A lot, yeah.

1:50:401:50:45

It's just like another

world you can go to.

1:50:451:50:51

# On my own, pretending

he's beside me.

1:50:511:50:54

# All alone, I walk...

1:50:541:50:59

Because of your donations,

whilst she's in hospital,

1:50:591:51:00

Vanessa's love of music

is being nurtured.

1:51:001:51:05

This is Colette, she's

a professional singer

1:51:051:51:09

from Spread a Smile,

a charity that entertains

1:51:091:51:11

seriously ill children.

1:51:111:51:14

She's there to make Vanessa feel

like the star she is.

1:51:141:51:19

# In the rain, the pavement

shines like silver...

1:51:191:51:25

Spread a Smile are just brilliant.

1:51:251:51:28

They give you a little

break from worrying

1:51:281:51:31

about what's going to go wrong.

1:51:311:51:36

Every single child is so precious

in their own right.

1:51:361:51:39

And we want to make sure

that when we go in there

1:51:391:51:42

they know how special

they really, really are.

1:51:421:51:43

Shall we do this bit,

and then when we get

1:51:431:51:46

to I Dreamed A Dream...

1:51:461:51:47

They make every child happy.

1:51:471:51:50

10 million times happier.

1:51:501:51:53

# When I was young and unafraid...

1:51:531:52:00

Beautiful.

1:52:001:52:10

# And dreams were made

and used and wasted...

1:52:121:52:17

# There was no ransom

to be paid

1:52:171:52:19

# No song unsung,

no wine untasted.

1:52:191:52:26

Beautiful.

1:52:261:52:33

This summer, Vanessa started

a new course of treatment,

1:52:331:52:37

the last available.

and the last chance

1:52:371:52:39

of saving Vanessa's life.

1:52:391:52:40

This trial has only

just been launched.

1:52:401:52:43

And we're taking a risk by hoping.

1:52:431:52:48

But, realistically, it's very

unlikely that she'll make it.

1:52:481:52:50

Everyday counts now.

1:52:501:52:55

All through Vanessa's

painful treatments, Spread

1:52:551:53:04

a Smile were by her side.

1:53:041:53:07

And the difference

they made was amazing.

1:53:071:53:13

When she's in pain, singing

is like her magic potion.

1:53:131:53:15

When she sings,

she feels much better.

1:53:151:53:18

# Nothing can capture

a heart like a melody can!

1:53:181:53:27

Despite the incredible work

of Great Ormond Street Hospital,

1:53:271:53:30

it became clear that there

was nothing more that

1:53:301:53:32

could be done for Vanessa.

1:53:321:53:35

On the 6th September this year,

Vanessa left hospital for the last

1:53:351:53:38

time, to spend some precious moments

with her friends,

1:53:381:53:40

family and loved ones.

1:53:401:53:42

# I ask in all honesty,

what can life be...

1:53:421:53:51

I love singing.

1:54:001:54:01

It's fun and it relaxes me.

1:54:011:54:06

It makes me calmer,

when I get stressed.

1:54:061:54:14

We would like to thank Vanessa's

parents for sharing their story with

1:54:331:54:37

us this evening.

1:54:371:54:46

Here now with the official Children

in Need single, Fields of Gold,

1:54:461:54:49

it's the wonderful Katie Melua.

1:54:491:54:50

And please, if you can,

donate whilst she's singing.

1:54:501:54:57

# Ooh

1:55:011:55:11

# You'll remember me

when the west wind moves

1:55:111:55:20

# Among the fields of barley

1:55:201:55:25

# You can tell the sun

in his jealous sky

1:55:251:55:34

# When we walked in fields of gold

1:55:341:55:39

# So she took her love

for to gaze awhile

1:55:391:55:44

# Among the fields of barley

1:55:441:55:50

# In his arms she fell

as her hair came down

1:55:501:55:55

# Among the fields of gold

1:55:551:56:03

# Will you stay with me?

Will you be my love

1:56:031:56:11

# Among the fields of barley?

1:56:111:56:16

# You can tell the sun

in his jealous sky

1:56:161:56:20

# When we walked in fields of gold

1:56:201:56:29

# I never made promises lightly

1:56:291:56:36

# And there have been some

that I've broken

1:56:361:56:43

# But I swear in the days still left

1:56:431:56:46

# We'll walk in fields of gold

1:56:461:56:52

# We'll walk in fields of gold

1:56:521:57:00

# Ooh

1:57:001:57:09

# Many years have passed

since those summer days

1:57:111:57:19

# Among the fields of barley

1:57:191:57:24

# See the children run

as the sun goes down

1:57:241:57:32

# As you lie in fields of gold

1:57:321:57:37

# You'll remember me

when the west wind moves

1:57:371:57:41

# Among the fields of barley

1:57:411:57:49

# You can tell the sun

in his jealous sky

1:57:491:57:56

# When we walked in fields of gold

1:57:561:58:02

# When we walked in fields of gold

1:58:021:58:07

# When we walked

in fields of gold. #

1:58:071:58:17

APPLAUSE.

1:58:211:58:27

A really poignant, beautiful song.

1:58:311:58:33

Thanks to Katie, and the official

Children in Need single

1:58:331:58:35

is available for download now.

1:58:351:58:38

So please buy it and help to

raise even more money

1:58:381:58:40

for Children in Need.

1:58:401:58:44

Now we have had quite

an incredible night full

1:58:441:58:46

of the best entertainment,

but we're almost at the end.

1:58:461:58:49

There's been comedy,

there's been music, and of course,

1:58:491:58:51

there have been appearances

from some of the biggest

1:58:511:58:53

names on the planet.

1:58:531:58:55

And all of this has been for one

reason and one reason only -

1:58:551:58:58

to help children across the UK.

1:58:581:59:00

Here are some highlights from what's

been a truly brilliant night.

1:59:001:59:05

Right everyone, remember this is for

Children in Need. Puddy's watching

1:59:051:59:08

you. Give it some welly, yeah!

Welcome to Children in Need 2017.

1:59:081:59:19

CHEERING AND APPLAUSE.

Today is a

big day.

A long time since we've

1:59:191:59:23

seen anything like this!

1:59:231:59:27

It's a 10 from me!

I have arranged a

few surprises for some very special

1:59:331:59:40

children. Nice to see you.

You play

for England.

I do.

I don't have any

1:59:401:59:47

words, I'm speechless.

Nice to meet

you.

I couldn't believe it was her.

1:59:471:59:50

They spend a lot of time looking

after other people. This is a place

1:59:501:59:54

where they can be looked after.

There is still time for one last

1:59:541:59:58

surprise. Do me a favour and just

turn around.

SCREAMING.

I wanted to

1:59:582:00:05

scream and cry at the same It's been

the time.

Best day.

2:00:052:00:10

.

Who calls us that?

It will catch

on.

I doubt it!

We're here. The

2:00:182:00:35

total is £5,063,230.

Let us find out

a bit more.

Please welcome our

2:00:352:00:39

Children in Need stars.

You kicked

your legs higher than Darcey. Full

2:00:392:00:53

of energy and in syn. The lifts were

fantastic. You were brave to come on

2:00:532:00:57

to this and do that amazing lift. I

tell you why, it's only held

2:00:572:01:04

together with sticky-backed plastic.

Connie it was like watching

2:01:042:01:12

sparkling play-doh.

You can King of

Jive.

I'll take that.

Who will be

2:01:122:01:19

crowned Children in Need Champion.

Mark and Amy!

Mel, Mel...

Look at

2:01:192:01:27

that.

I don't get the opportunity to

do this.

No, once-in-a-lifetime.

Oh!

2:01:272:01:34

Shall we see what we can nick while

they are out? Hello, ladies.

What is

2:01:342:01:40

all this giggling I can hear.

Fantastic.

Oh!

Here they are.

Oh,

2:01:402:01:46

hello. How are you? You are

gorgeous.

Thank you so much for

2:01:462:01:52

joining us, and for all your hard

work.

Doing an actual scene for

2:01:522:02:01

Poldark.

A big thank you to Children

in Need.

One more minute.

That's not

2:02:012:02:06

the point. Stop showing me up in

front of Tess Daly.

He's singing!

2:02:062:02:15

Let's have some fun.

Indicate Bush.

Yes!

That's what I'm talking about.

2:02:232:02:32

We've had a good laugh, haven't we?

Have we?

That's a wrap!

2:02:322:02:38

APPLAUSE. We've had a good night.

2:02:382:02:52

What a night it's been -

full of joy, tears and laughter.

so hard up and down the

comes down to this!

2:03:122:03:19

I cue the totaliser?

2:03:192:03:23

On your first Children

in Need appearance?

2:03:232:03:25

No chance.

2:03:252:03:28

These newbies.

2:03:282:03:30

Honestly!

2:03:302:03:34

What if we did it all together?

2:03:342:03:36

What, as Pudsey and the Bears?

2:03:362:03:40

Now you are on board with it.

2:03:402:03:44

On three.

2:03:442:03:45

One, two...

2:03:452:03:50

2:03:502:03:59

APPLAUSE

2:03:592:04:03

Thank you so much.

Terry would be so unbelievable proud

2:04:212:04:28

would. APPLAUS Incredible.

2:04:282:04:32

Absolutely incredible.

2:04:322:04:35

It's been record-breaking. That's

you were totally and utterly

2:04:462:04:49

fantastic.

2:04:492:04:50

But most of all,

thanks to you at home.

2:04:502:04:52

That total is down to you,

your generosity and your kindness.

2:04:522:04:56

Thank you so much.

2:04:562:04:59
