It always amazes me how things can change in an instant.

As my feet touched the cold water of the Thames last summer,

I never could have dreamt what would happen next.

I was in London's West End.

I wanted to try something with some of the people I met.

All they had to do was shake my hand.

but sometimes the secret is where the real magic lies.

It was here that I started filming my adventures with my mate, Marcus.

I'm a magician from Bradford, which is where we are now.

For many people, Bradford can seem like a bleak, rundown place.

But it's the people who live here that make the city's heart beat.

When I'm in town, I always drop in on my nanna and gramps

to see how they're doing.

He misses you a lot, love.

How's your love life?

-My love life? Um...

-Non-existent.

The Greenwood pub is my family's local.

It's always nice to make a surprise visit when I'm in town,

and it's my nan's second home,

I've been trying to impress my nan for the last 20 years.

My life has changed so much over the past few years,

It's that long ago I don't remember when I first, first met him.

and obviously he turned up, lived on t'estate over t'road.

On this particular evening, we were on our way to a nightclub

on the outskirts of Bradford.

What is this party?

My friend from London, Mr Simons, he's come up and he's DJing.

I don't really know what it is but, you know...

Have you got us some VIP tickets?

Yeah, we'll go up on the stage and DJ with him, innit?

-On stage?!

-Yeah.

When we were younger, it was always tough getting into places.

The bouncers would always hassle us,

and I used to perform just to get us through the door.

Now things are different.

The problem nowadays isn't getting into places,

it's the getting out.

But, no matter what's in front of me,

I always find a way to leave by the front door.

I travel so much nowadays,

it seems like my feet hardly touch the ground.

Sometimes, it all feels like a dream.

I often fall asleep and, when I wake up,

the whole world around me has changed.

Walking past, my wife says, "That's Dynamo."

We walk over and, the next thing we know, he's turned Coke into Tango...

..and Tango into Coke. That's unbelievable.

That was freaky. I mean, really freaky.

I was visiting a studio in North London

to meet one of my favourite recording artists, Labrinth.

He just signed my DVD with the wrapper on and it is pen,

cos I can see.

But he's done it with his mind. It's so weird!

Like, yeah, I'm trying to work it out. I'm a sceptic.

I've got to tell you, I'm definitely a sceptic,

but today he's made me a believer, man.

No strings attached.

It is literally magic!

I had the world at my feet.

I was living the dream, and it seemed like nothing could stop me.

But suddenly, everything changed and my life was turned upside down.

My grandpa, who had raised me

and given me the belief to follow my dreams,

became extremely sick overnight

and was given days to live by the doctors.

As soon as he found out, he was up North, at his side,

didn't hesitate to get back up.

Just came home and just spent time with him,

to be honest, just to say goodbye.

Ken brought him up from quite a young age,

taught him everything he knew.

He got him into magic.

He even taught him how to swim, ride a bike, everything,

you know what I mean?

Life and soul of the party, always smiling, always laughing,

joking, giggling.

On Wednesday, 29th February 2012, my grandpa, Kenneth Walsh, passed away.

You can tell when you speak to him,

he's a bit more subdued and a bit more thoughtful.

# I feel lost so I'm looking out... #

It's a brave face, I think.

I think it's affecting him more than he likes to admit.

It's been hard to know that someone that he's cared about so much

has gone and he's got to fill that void,

and it's just trying to help him, really.

I think Ken would have wanted him to have a bit of a cry and get over it

sooner rather than later and don't drag it out, and then obviously get

back to what he's doing, cos it's all thanks to him why he's doing it.

After my grandpa passed, I locked myself away in Bradford for weeks.

I didn't want to see anybody or hear from anyone.

It was like the magic had died with him.

It was a long time before I performed any magic again,

but slowly I started to venture out

and let the cameras back into my life.

A month later, I finally headed back down to London,

where Labrinth had invited me to his acoustic show

at London's biggest music store, HMV.

For some reason, being back in London didn't feel right.

Something had changed.
