2012 New Year Live

Hello. Good evening and welcome to London.

CHEERING AND APPLAUSE Just a few hundred thousand of my

close friends lining the banks of the Thames, braving the cold, but

not the rain rain fingers crossed. We are waiting for Big Ben to chime

midnight and with it the fireworks that will go off behind us here.

12,000 of them lining the banks of the Thames and the London Eye. It

promises to be a spectacular and fitting way to say goodbye to what

has been a wonderful 2012 and say hello to 2013. Now, if you want to

be one of the guys here, you have probably been here for a good half

day or so and most of today has been wet as well. If you have got a

pitch, you really do deserve it, but nobody more than so than Mo and

Julie from St Helen's, whose plan has been in place for 12 months.

Explain. We have been planning it for a year. Last year, we came here

late so we were at the back. So we planned to come this year as early

on and we got here about 3pm so we get a nice place.

And And it was raining at 3pm? was chucking it down. We had our

our our ponchs on. Enjoy the party. And what a party

it promises to be. While you get your champagne and work out your

New Year's res resolutions, let's relive some of the great moments of

2012. A year ago, did you imagine that the Paralympics and the

Olympics would be the successes that they were? We will be looking

back at some of the sensational sport in a moment. Let's relive

Harry carried on partying in Las Vegas and he went back to

Afghanistan and the brilliant news that there will be a Royal baby.

Prince William and Kate Middleton will have their first child. The

speculation is mounting is it a boy or a girl or twins. Two people

people who might have an interest, they they love their Royals. You

were at the regatta. We were at the pageant.

A terrific atmosphere. You can get 1,000-1 on the Royal

baby being called Wayneta or Wayne. Are you going for that?

Hoi gets the gold medal. He becomes world. When our time came, Britain,

we did it right. Thank you. Paralympic, I would agree the Games

makers made it truly special, and the atmosphere on the streets of

London, and Karen and Kieran know all about that, because you looked

after a Games maker. He stayed at your house? We had the pleasure of

a Games maker with us for the Olympics. It was madness. They

loved it. You loved it. The best time to be in London was during the

Olympics. There was happy people and colour on the tube going into

work. I do think Boris Johnson has missed a trick - we should have

Gamesmakers all the time. What was your favourite moment? Going around

collecting pictures of the Wenlocks. That was so fun, finding them

everywhere. What about the sporting moments? I enjoyed watching it all

and all the happy people around and seeing all the time. Let's keep ill

going. Best thing to do in '13 is to do what we did in '12. It was an

amazing time to be in London. of luck. Taking the energy into
