-Today, we're discussing

-he condition of Raynaud's Disease.

-We're also joined by Nia Selini...

-..who has had the condition

-for many years.

-Welcome to you both.

-First, what can you tell us

-about this common condition?

-It was described by a person

-from Paris.

-He was a doctor called Raynaud.

-It's all about the veins that lead

-to the extremities...

-..which means that the blood

-doesn't flow to the hands.

-The hands can go white

-at the start...

-..and then go blue...

-..before going very red.

-It can last for minutes

-or up to an hour.

-If this lasts for a regular

-amount of time...

-..then it can lead to bruises

-and cuts.

-This condition is very common.

-One in ten people...

-..can get worse

-from Raynaud's Disease.

-When did you realize

-that you had this condition?

-I was about 13 or 14.

-I remember it being very cold.

-I was very cold.

-I couldn't feel my feet.

-When I went back into the house...

-..I was in tears with pain.

-My hands were very red.

-I'd go into the sea...

-..and my hands

-would be very white...

-..before turning red again.

-It isn't as common now

-after having children.

-Is there anything you can do

-to help the condition?

-You should avoid smoking.

-The reason for the opening

-and closing of these veins...

-..is to ensure that the body

-remains warm.

-Smoking can make your body

-temperature drop.

-You should avoid carrying bags

-that are very heavy...

-..and will mark your hands.

-It's all about a change

-in temperature.

-You need to make sure

-that you keep warm.

-Some people may need blood tests...

-..to check that it isn't anything

-more serious.

-The condition has improved with Nia

-since having children.

-I know that the pill can affect it.

-Your emotional state

-can affect it too.

-A number of road workers

-can be affected.

-Does it affect your everyday life?

-I enjoy skiing.

-It doesn't happen.

-My hands do get cold...

-..but it isn't as serious.

-It's all about keeping

-the body warm.

-a book, wrap it in brown paper...

-and post clues on social media.

-In Kidwelly, we have a Book Club

-and want to encourage more to read.

-The idea came to us

-during the Pokemon Go craze.

-We decided to create

-a treasure hunt.

-In the beginning, we tried to keep

-it a secret and it was exciting.

-It all started in the rugby club...

-..and she had been telling people

-to keep an eye out for the books.

-She also told them that it was me

-hiding the parcels.

-It wasn't a secret for long!

-We've been very lucky and

-started out using our own books...

-..or purchasing books in sales

-or charity shops.

-But people have started

-to hear what we do...

-..and we've received books

-from Wendy White.

-I live in Kidwelly

-and I write children's books.

-I've given Bethan books

-for her project.

-I'm delighted to hear that people

-are finding the books in the town.

-Bethan contacted us.

-This community project has brought

-people together...

-..and has encouraged people to read.

-It has caused excitement

-in the town.

-Every person in the area

-has the right to a book.

-Reading is something

-for everyone to enjoy.

-It would be great for other areas

-to do a similar project.

-We've heard a lot of negative

-stories in the press recently...

-..and it's wonderful to see

-something creative taking place.

-People are doing kind things

-for themselves.
