Week 10 Strictly Come Dancing

Last weekend on Strictly the performances were bigger and

brighter than ever as our seven remaining celebrities fought for a

place in the quarter-finals. Louis finally came out of his shell and

delivered the performance everyone's been waiting for.

Thank you so much. A lovely crowd. Aren't they good? Good evening,

ladies and gentlemen and children and welcome to Strictly Come

Dancing. It's nice to see you, to see you... AUDIENCE: Nice! It's

nice see you. Good. Tonight it's a Strictly first. Our stars are

taking two styles and fusing them together into one routine. That's

right. I heard about all of this. The couples have to either merge

two styles together or split the dance half and half. It sounds

great. But you have to be careful what you are doing. This afternoon,

I saw our professionals trying out different combinations. What

happened? They were combining the flashdance with a quickstep and all

I got was a quick flash. APPLAUSE Followed by a hot flush. I

thought I had passed all of that years ago. I really did. It's a

worry, isn't it, dear? Last week, we lost another star. And Maureen!

Sorry. Michael Vaughan - leave the audience alone. Michael was bowled

out of the competition in a dance- off against his best pal, Nicky

Byrne. That was sad. The competition is tougher than ever as

our six of the best fight for a place in next week's semifinals.

That's right. Can you believe it? It's going to be an explosive night

tonight. Saoeupl excited. It means it's time to meet our own

choreography! LAUGHTER. It went well. It won't go again. It's time

meet the stars of our show. From girlband Girls Aloud, pop

princess Kimberely Walsh and her partner Pasha Kovalev. From

Westlife, Nicky Byrne and his partner Karen Hauer. Soap star Lisa

Riley and her partner Robin Windsor. Olympic gymnast Louis Smith and his

partner Flavia Cacace. Star of CBBC's Tracy Beaker, Dani Harmer

and her partner Vincent Simone. And finally, presenter and performer

Denise Van Outen and her partner APPLAUSE AND CHEERING

Wonderful. There they all are. Yes, there they are. This is the first

for Strictly. They'll start doing one dance and and end up doing

something completely different. That's not really a first. Ann

Widdecombe did that all the time and Nancy Dell'Olio. The list goes

on and on. Believe me. If you want live commentary you can press your

red button and Karen Hardy is away this week and an - Anton is

standing in. He is there somewhere. We will see him in a minute. Good

news is, we don't have to see him! We saw him for a second there. He

is actually joined by Nancy tonight. Oh, no! LAUGHTER Tell me this!

Nancy, hello, dear! Sorry what I said before, dear. You were better

than Fiona Phillips. That's not saying much. Who knows what's going

to happen. Press your red button now and you are all set if you want

to join in. The first couple tonight is Denise van Outen and her

partner, James Jordan. APPLAUSE Now then, for their dance fusion

they're doing a jive and a quickstep. Wait a minute, we did

all this years ago for goodness sake! Don't you remember, Len, it

went on for years. I once combined a Riverdance with a tap dance and

flooded the place. APPLAUSE There's another line. Wait for this one. I

should have walked -- I should have worn my dancing pumps! Here they

are in training. Last week I was absolutely loving

it. There was one moment when we were spinning around and I just

thought, this is the most amazing feeling in the world. Then,

suddenly, there was a look in his eyes, he had gone blank. Literally

nothing. I remember saying to Denise, don't worry! I didn't know

what to do. I just launched Mitch at him -- launch myself at him into

the routine. It was nothing like it should have been but you can't

necessarily tell where we went wrong. It's how you recover, I

thought you recovered very well. Well done. He feels bad and I don't

want him to feel bad. It feels like a setback but in a way it's good

because it's given us a drive to prove ourselves this week. We are

going to come back fighting. This week is dance fusion week. I am

hoping it's not going to be dance confusion. You look like you

remembered that time. Our fusion is a quickstep and the jive.

routine is so fast. Denise literally has to move like

lightning to keep up. Get up! There's two different ways you can

do a dance fusion. The first way you can do half of one dance and

half of another dance. The way I want to do it is starting with jive,

into quickstep, back into jive, back into quickstep. Finish with

jive. Can we slow it down a little bit? No. I am glad we have two

difficult dances because we need to impress tphouf get through to the

semi-- impress enough to get through to the semifinal. Dancing a

What about that! That was wonderful. And the pace of it! I tell you,

look at him. Yes, it was wonderful. APPLAUSE AND CHEERING They can't

stop. Dance fusion. If I did that, I would need a transfusion. Let's

welcome our judges, Craig, Darcey and Len and Bruno. APPLAUSE Bruno,

I hope we don't get a repeat performance from you like last week,

where you fell off the chair. I mean, off his trolley, yes. But not

off his chair. Len, in dance fusion week are there different rules for

our dancers? You know, the fusion is a real challenge, not only for

the pros because they have to come up with two routines to one piece

of music but also for our celebrities, because there's

different techniques and characterisations. They're allowed

one lift throughout the routine. Unless it's a dance where you are

allowed more, in which case you can do the stipulated amount. I have to

say this, I thought the quickstep had go and the jive had show. It

was a proper fusion. It wasn't just a bit of this. You mixed it up

beautifully. The technique in the kicks and flicks in the jive were

different to the quickstep. You didn't quite manage that all the

way through, sometimes the quickstep flicks were jive-ified

and there was a slip-up. I got my heel caught in this. I had to kick

my skirt off. You can see where it went. What am I going to do? Could

you sew it back together for me? You were probably cocking your leg

up too high at the time. I enjoyed it very much. Bruno. Yes, that was

a high popping explosive jive. Morphing beautifully into a lively

quickstep. The momentum - you were going at the speed of light! That

moment when you caught yourself, you know, these things happen. It

was superb. Len is right, the the kicks and flicks were different.

The jive was incredible. The precision and accuracy was

outstanding. Craig? Yes, I agree. The jive part

was incredible actually. Your kicks and flicks are absolutely fantastic.

Really brilliant. Also, in the quickstep that could sometimes just

be a little bit smoother. It was a little bit bouncy for me. Again,

incredible spins. You are so proficient at that. All the

elements fused beautifully. It is a terrible shame. James remembered

the routine. James, thank you for remembering the routine. It was a

terrible shame you went wrong and you did finish late at the end.

your strength is the jive and the action and the attack is fabulous.

Wye say the same as Craig, too much bounce in the quickstep but I love

your determination. You go out there and you want to perfect every

move. It's fabulous to watch. you. You really do. Quite a team.

It was fun, I loved it. Apart from this, my heel was right through the

dress. It was a great recovery. Well done you. We might have to bin

the dress. Never mind. Have you been - do you feel the competition

is getting tougher now we are getting closer to the final? It's

so much you have toer. The standard is -- tougher. The standard is so

high. They've lifted their game. Have you enjoying combining the

ballroom and Latin? It's been exhausting, though. This week has

been tiring because it's the two fastest dances, quickstep and jive

but she worked so hard. Puts in so many hours and I am very proud.

training. Last Saturday we danced to Sunshine, it was a dream come

true. I thought nothing would top Wembley. But Len said... Eric and

Ernie are looking down. They're my idols, it's made my year.

was so lovely. Not only did you do a beautiful dance, you did air

conditioning for the whole place. It was wonderful. While you two

catch your breath it gives us a chance to welcome our fabulous

singers, Dave Arch and his wonderful, wonderful orchestra.

love the way you expose yourself, all that reveal. You were like a

glitterball under a searchlight. You were dazzling. The cha-cha-cha

suits you down to a tee. Cheeky, naughty, it allows you to express

yourself in fantastic ways. The tango was better than the usual

ballroom. The top line was better, you tried much harder to make it

work. Obviously, the cha-cha-cha was much stronger because it is you.

It is really suits you down to a tee. Now then, Craig? Yes, the cha-

cha-cha was better than your tango. Your top line is failing new the

tango and in all the ballroom stuff. Sadly, we do have to get really

specific now and look for these sort of faults. Also a little ahead,

you were anticipating some of the steps particularly up here. The

dance really took off when your clothes came off, of course.

dear! True. I loved the two characters, actually. It was really

good. Thank you, thaeug, for -- Craig, for your first cha-cha-cha

of the series. Darcey? Actually for me I thought your tango was the

stronger one, surprisingly with a partying beat you attacked it

really well and I thought your top line had improved and you held and

the shaping was better. I thought the cha-cha got loose and the

cleanness lost it and it was sharp and you needed sharper, stronger

legs and snappier moves. But always a fabulous performance. You always

give your all. Never let's us down. OK, Len? Your enthusiasm is

infectious. It's always fun. It's always joyous to watch. You come

out with such verve. You went wrong in the cha-cha-cha. I did. There

was an incident. It was one of those things. For me it was all too

predictable. I like the fusions to be a little bit, what's coming

next? Oh, what's coming next! However, as I said at the beginning,

for enthusiasm you are the kid. Well done. Thank you so much.

APPLAUSE Very popular. They're going to be dancing to a song by

Olly Murs and Flo Rida. Nicky asked me if I ever heard of Flo Rida? I

said, of course I have, I am not stupid, I went to Flo Rida once on

my holidays. APPLAUSE Allan Carr gave me that joke. Was he glad to

get rid of it! Here they are in training.

I was really, really up for Saturday night. I knew I had to

deliver a good performance. You got to be uber cool. A little bit too

sharp. It's because you put so much power into it. Everyone on the

panel is right, it was too aggressive and stompy. When I got

the score I knew that wasn't good enough at this stage of the

competition. The couple in the bottom two tonight is... Nicky and

Karen. Going up against my mate Vaughany was extra hard. Nobody

wants to go home, you don't want to knock your buddy out on the show

either. This couple were sensational. Nicky and Karen.

it's next, you move on. This week we are dancing a fusion of the

samba and the American smooth foxtrot to Troublemaker by Olly

Murs. Does that make sense? Good! Mixing two dances is very

complicated especially since you have to teach two different

techniques, two different timings to one track. Is that foxtrot or

samba? I am not even asking. It's a challenge. The reason I did this

show was for a challenge. One step away from the semifinals and two

steps from the final. Up and down every mountain that Strictly has to

offer. Dance fusion equals injury dance. I am still here. I am

literally going to give this absolutely everything because I

have no intention of going home. Dancing an American smooth-samba

Oh, well done you two. Some lovely little moves. The moves were

beautiful. Craig? You need a lot more bounce in the samba. There

wasn't any at all. BOOING. posture in the American smooth part

was truly dreadful, I have to be honest. Bent knees. It was very

haphazard. I suspect we are going to be seeing that dance again.

no. How cruel. Darcey? Nicky, you started really well. You present it

very well. It was very well staged. I loved the choreography and the

changes were very neat. Very clean. It is true, your shoulders let you

down. You do excellent lifts but they do, you know, get in the way,

sadly especially in the quickstep. You overexten the arms a lot in the

samba. A lot of that. In front. But your performance value was very

good. You sell it. APPLAUSE Now then, Len? To fuse these two dances

together, samba and the American smooth foxtrot was the greatest

challenge we have seen so far. That was a tough call. I think the samba

was terrific, you did get the bounce action. I told you before

about the ballroom dancing, you never straighten your knees, you

are always flexed too much. But I thought the mix was good. The lifts

were good. I thought you came out and did a good job. Very nice. Good

old Len. Good for you, Len. Bruno? Oh, you little troublemaker! Listen,

I have to say that was really a heroic effort. There couldn't be

two dances more different than the samba and American smooth-based

foxtrot. It's like, you know, the night and day and it's incredibly

difficult. There was a lot of technical shortcomings but you give

always 110 perbs and -- 110% and I commend you for it. Don't worry

because of the first two comments, I am going to make you my favourite.

I haven't said that - you are my favourite. Go on. APPLAUSE AND

CHEERING The most challenging fusion of the

night so far. Very challenging. would have to be me to pick that

one! Heroic, said Bruno. Credit where it's true. Michael went out

last week, are you doing it for the lads this week? He has been texting

me. And my mum's in tonight. Your mum's in the audience. Craig, look

out. His mum's coming to get you. enjoyed it. That's what it's all

about. It's about giving it everything you have on the dance

floor. Before Strictly you never really danced. Westlife, famously,

you barely left the stool. Sang beautifully, though! How would you

feel if it was to end before the semis? Devastated. Absolutely, the

work you put in and for me and Karen, you know, it's been a long

journey. We wobbled a bit at the start with the judges and we are

still wobbling! I would love to stay in, it's about giving it

everything you have and if everyone can vote, maybe I can go next week,

drink while still in the competition. Len should do that. At

this time of the year he gets through two bottles of alcohol a

week. He is not a big drinker, he just uses it to pickle his walnuts.

There you are, Len. Keep pickling! It's like a commercial on BBC,

would you believe. By the way, have a close-up here, that is not a

walnut. That's Len's face. APPLAUSE Why you?! Here they are in training.

Our dance last week was definitely Italian-based and Vincent grew a

mouse moustache especially for the occasion. Pwraoupb was just saying

-- Bruno was just saying beautiful, gorgeous, but he kept looking at me.

It was enchanting, my darling. was so nervous during the

eliminations so when our name was finally read out I was screaming.

was so proud of my little Dani. This week it's dance fusion. We are

dancing a quickstep and the Charleston. Oh! It's the same spot!

We are going to call it the quick- ston. Very clever. I think we have

been the perfect fusion of dance partners. No, bella, the perfect

fusion would be me and me. Bella! High-five. I am not sure about that,

Vincent. Go faster! It's the first time on Strictly that dance fusion

has ever been done. I am really, really terrified because it could

either work beautifully or it could be a dance disaster. I don't like

that bit. I want to be in the semifinal more than I have wanted

anything in my whole life, because honestly this has been the best

experience ever and I don't want it to end yet.

Dani, look, that's all for you, my love. Our first standing ovation of

the night. You got them on their feet. Come on, where's that smile?

That was wonderful. Well, Darcey, what did you think? That was

extraordinary. I mean, got it made with the two dances because they're

both from the 1920s so they mould perfectly together but you also

upped the technical ability. I mean, the most beautiful wave arched the

-- around the dance floor and that was stunning that in and out, that

was really beautiful. It was seamless. The transitions from the

cheeky, fun - I loved it. Sweet Charleston. Well done. Len? I would

have been more happy with your feet if I had seen the occasional heel

lead but having said that... Yum- yum, pig's bum, that was fun. I

loved it, well done! Well, Bruno? That really was an exuberant fusion

frenzy. It was like watching a flapper's greatest hits! The

Charleston and quickstep, are like two sides of the same coin and you

paid it full-time! It was brilliant. Styleistically it was absolute

perfection. The sequence, the runs, the whole sequence was a delight.

After last week with the Viennese, which was charming and a different

style and now to come out and do that, it was something. Craig, do

you agree? Yes, so far, I think the chory has been brilliant and --

choreography has been brilliant and you did a great job on that routine.

First standing ovation of the night. Bruno said perfection. You can't

get better than that, can you? really can't. How much would it

mean to reach the semifinals? Everything. I am having the best

time ever and I want to do it for this man here. First Charleston,

well done, Vincent. A first for you. It might be the last as well.

Remember, in their routine last week Louis was a doctor and after

the performance a woman from the audience rushed on and said, can

you examine me? I feel faint. He said, but I am not really a doctor.

She said, that's all right, I don't really feel faint. APPLAUSE Where

do these women come from? They never bother me. Here they are in

training. I really felt under pressure, so I

really had to go out and perform and luckily I did that. The

Olympics was obviously a different level, but last Saturday, wow. It

was unbelievable. Never experienced anything like that before in my

life. The reception from the audience, I couldn't believe it.

They got louder and louder and started stamping their feet. I was

thinking OK, maybe it will go up to a nine and Darcey's ten and I

couldn't believe it. I actually couldn't believe it. Oh my! I was

so used to getting those scores and Bruno gave me ten, it was

unbelievable. I managed to find a little bit of character in this

Charleston. I am on a roll and I need to keep this performance side

going. It was the best feeling. This week dance fusion, we are

combining tango and the rumba. rumba is a dance of love and Louis

really needs to act the part. have to act like a ladies' man and

I am not sexy, girls do not look at me that way. Louis has it in his

head girls don't fancy him. I am not exactly Brad Pitt. Hello, he is

hot! Am I wrong, ladies? Come on. To get to the semifinal I need to

come across as some kind of Romeo. I need a miracle. Hi. All right?

Girls don't even notice me. I don't know how I am supposed to get into

Louis, have a look at them. And around here. Look. You did it. You

two did it. I have always admired you so much as a tango dancer. You

are the best and always have been and you passed it over to dear

Louis. Len? Rumba and tango, two dances each end of the dance

spectrum and you pulled it off great. Well done. Bruno. I am with

you, the build-up from soft and sense annual -- sense annual to hot.

Yes, you are masterful! Keep it up, it's going the right way. Craig

looks pensive. Well, I have to say you danced that with effortless

dexterity. You really did. I have one complaint, however, your thumb

was newspaper the tango. -- your thumb was up in the tango. It will

probably finish up in your eye, but never mind! Darcey? The emotion was

perfect. It was expressive. Those arms were delicious. I loved it.

The tango, crisp. One of your best. It was. Be proud about that. It was

final couple tonight is Kimberley Walsh and her partier, Pasha --

partner Pasha Kovalev. Another wonderful couple. This week

Kimberley has revealed the secret of her success in Strictly,

chocolate. She loves chocolate, as I do. She's been getting through

loads of the stuff, that's apart from still having her five pieces

of fruit every day, three chocolate oranges, a bag of chocolate raisins

and a bar of Fruit and Nut. Here Our jive on Saturday night went

pretty well. We really went from it from the start of our routine. When

Darcey said that I kept up the energy levels with Pasha, I was

like, yes! I think I actually did celebrate on camera. Bruno's

comments were great. Great energy and timing. Side to side kicks and

flicks were excellent. We had a difficult trick which unfortunately

didn't go to plan. There was a couple of moments, something I

thought was -- spoiled something that was almost perfect.

are not going to stop fighting now. The semifinals are a week away.

This is dance fusion and we are dancing to The Weather Girls and

It's Raining Men. We are do a cha- cha and tango fusion. It's really

hard. You are switching between kind of going... Tango and cha-cha

this week has had an effect on Kimberley. It's like two dances are

controlling her personality. Woah! Doing the cha-cha Kimberley is all

sweetness and smiles. Hey, cha-cha- cha! As soon as we go to tango...

Let's work on tango now. OK. can turn so quickly and I never

know what's coming next. I don't think it's having much impact on me.
