Episode 6 Strictly - It Takes Two

Live from London, this is Strictly: It Takes Two. Please welcome your

host, Zoe Ball. Hello and welcome to your first

It Takes Two of the week. And, boy, do we have

a lot to talk about. It was an eventful weekend

to say the least - and I'm not referring

to Ed Balls' Charleston. So, in case you missed it,

in training before Saturday's show She was seen by a doctor

and advised to modify her salsa Her performance that night

aggravated her injury further. The decision was made

during the results show that she could not dance her routine

again in the dance-off. Now, as fans will know,

this is the first time But Strictly has rules for many

situations, including this one. And the Strictly rules state that

if a contestant finds themselves in the dance-off but they

are unable to perform, In this situation, the power goes to

the Strictly Come Dancing viewers - The couple in the dance-off with the

fewest viewer votes We're sending our love to Anastacia.

She'll join us with Brendan later in the week.

And tonight, they're here to say their goodbyes.

Yes, I'll be joined by Melvin and Janette.

Also on the show tonight, we have Louise and Kevin.

Plus, Karen Hardy will be casting her expert eye over

Saturday night's dances in Choreography Corner.

But first, they may have collected their suitcases

but we're here to welcome them with open arms.

Go crazy for Melvin and Janette! I do have to say as well, pulling out

the dab hand, the running man in your last dance. Why not. Ten from

all of us. Thank you. Tears from everybody. The pro dancers are

crying and all sorts. It's always tough leaving the competition.

Saying goodbye, especially in quite unique circumstances. Yes. How are

you feeling today? I feel better today. It was a really sad day over

the weekend. We just didn't want to leave and so soon as well. We had so

much work to still do. We knew what we were doing this week. It's really

sad to be in this position right now. You could still do that dance,

just come round to mine. Then I'll tell everyone how brilliant it was.

No problem. You were so gracious saying your goodbyes on the Results

Show. You must have been proud of him. I was. It was such a specific

situation. It's no-one's fault. Things happen sometimes and you have

to abide by the rules that are written for a reason. We love an

staysament we love Brendan -- Anastacia, we love Brendan. What can

you do. You have to bow down and say thank you very much.

Which you did so beautifully. Obviously the rules being the rules,

you didn't get to dance again. It would have been great to hear the

judges' advice and give your tango another whir. Were you really

disappointed? When we found out we were in the bottom two, she was

like, "Stretch, we're going on soon. " We were working on the final

dance. We just wanted to go out there and just dance like it was the

last dance ever in life. Yeah, but we can still do it. We said, we

never want to do that tango again and we didn't! You have to be

careful what you wish for. You've got close to your friends in the

show, close to Anastacia and that makes it tough. I love the guys on

the show already. Everyone messaged me. I had calls from that meeka, Ore

-- Tameka, Ore and my friends and family saying they're proud of me.

That's all you can ask for. Your mum as well. Mum was like, "Don't worry,

we're so proud of you. And your tango face was glorious!" She was

happiment I'm gutted I never got to meet your mum. Evening to Melvin's

mum. Due enjoy your performance on Saturday night? You know what...

There you are, it's great. I've never seen a baggage trolley used to

gracefully. Yeah, we tried. It was a really tough week. Getting the

routine down on the day was such an accomplishment, for me especially. I

had, I remember my fallaways were an issue. He knows the names - I love

that. You taught him well. For the whole week, we got there and did it

on the night. I was proud of myself. The fact that you're using a term

like fallaway... I don't know what it means! Janette kept saying it.

Are you going to hang up your ballroom and Latin dancing shoes?

You can catch me dancing in the clubbeds, Zoe. Yes. I'm not allowed

to clubs any more. I hear it's lots of fun. How has your experience

been? Amazing. I said on the night, look everyone on the show is

amazing, production, hair - not that I have it - make up, Janette, all

the pro dancers, the celebs. I've loved, it though it was brief,

everyone's been amazing. I couldn't have asked for more. You did say on

the Results Show, it's been a short and sweet your honoury. Here is your

very short and very sweet Strictly story.

It's Janette! We're going to be this little team going crazy on the dance

floor. I can't wait. What's going on. Shoes and shorts, I don't know.

It's fun. I said to the costume team, I want something real subtle

(! ) What do you think. Cha-cha is a fun dance. That's what you did. I'm

telling you, you forgot the hips. I'm finding the tango quite

difficult. You're not doing the right foot work. I love to please

people. I don't want to let anyone down. Your intentions are good. The

execution has to be more precise. It was mediocre, I'm afraid. When he

talks, all I hear is, "That was great, Melvin." I can reveal that

the couple with the fewest viewer votes is Melvin and Janette.

It's a blessing to be on this show. Thank you for Janette. It's been a

great experience for me. Thank you. I have to say, so much love for the

two of you. The Strictly family's loss is the Manrara's gain.

Morning. I woke up at 3. 30am. Full of nerves. I haven't been back to

sleep. It's now 9am. I would hate to be the first person to leave, so all

I can do is try and do the routine right, listen to everything Kevin's

told me and fingers crossed. It's going to be really sad to see

somebody go. It will be easier to go than see someone else go. No, no.

We've all become so close, especially all of us contestants,

wee like to text each other. It's a real experience. Just giving the odd

massage. Have you ever been massaged by an Olympian. Yes, yes, yes, thank

you. APPLAUSE

The idea that I would be chancing the charleston live on national

television is so absurd. There's lots of donuts here today thanks to

Rob. Trying to make us not fit into our costumes. I see what he's doing.

This is the daddy right here. How are you doing? Daddy, why because

I'm 50 No, no, like you're the don. There are certain crimes against

fashion and this is probably one of them. I've pulled my left bum cheek

muscle. So I'm now running around with a heat pack in my boxer shorts.

The atmosphere is getting slightly tenser now. Everyone is realising

they're going to perform and that somebody goes home town. It's show

time. Come on, gang. To the stairs. Shall we? Indeed. Preshow mayhem.

APPLAUSE Can I just say before we start,

lovely threads, I love your dress. Kevin, you're wearing a T-shirt with

a jacket. I feel weird without a tie. I like to think I'm down with

the kids now and again. I like this youthful look on you.

Congratulations at the weekend. Oh, the lighting and your frock. It was

so graceful and floaty. In fact, such a beautiful dance, on Saturday,

Gingy tweeted, "The whole aesthetic of Kevin and Louise's Viennese waltz

is the exact aesthetic I want for my life." We've never met, but I'm sure

she has wonderful taste. How did it feel on the dance floor? Yeah, do

you know, it was just nice to get out and do it. It had been a tough

week. I found the rehearsal part of the Viennese waltz extremely hard.

It was so alien compared to the jive. Yeah, I think Tuesday melt

down Tuesday I've named that now. This is not going to work. So to get

out there and do it was just good to get through it. Did I enjoy it? Not

particularly, I got through it. The spinning out there, did you have the

said bucket at the side, due master the spinning? I still felt nauseous.

I have a few counts to come out of it, by the time I walked to the

judges I was just out of breath. Now obviously, Lennie absolutely

delighted as were we at home for the first fleckerl of the series. Yes,

we've been waiting for it. Was that in there specially for him? I do try

to put something in for Len, a nice technical step for him to get his

teeth into. But there's only three steps in the Viennese waltz any way,

if you're not going to do one, you're cheating a bit. It was a

beautiful fleckerl though. You've done two dances and there you are

joint top of the leaderboard. I mean, it must be brilliant to be up

there. Can you believe it like, oh, this is fun. I'm loving it. I never

thought I'd love it like I do. I was expecting to enjoy the process, but

I'm genuinely loving it. Being at the top is scary, because there's

only one way to go. That's down! Which is a bit of a worry, but you

know, I just try to approach every week and make the most of my time

here and yeah, obviously I get to spend my days dancing with Kevin.

That's good. I know. From Grimsby. We have a laugh. He is an Adonis, I

tell you, even in pale blue. We have a stat alert here for you.

We have a rich history of girl group members on Strictly,

so we've tallied up their scores for their first two dances,

and here are the all-important numbers.

Let me introduce to you the greatest girl group of all time,

Mis-Saturdays Eternal Spice Child Aloud.

Emma Bunton, she got 66 points dancing with Darren Burnett. A got

67 points, Alicia. Michelle from destiny's child, Kimberly with 54.

Frankie got 60 with yours truly, Kevin. And Louise with 63, not bad

at all. So you are third only to champion and a Spice Girl. Some

pretty big boots to fill with those lot. We are not showing that to you

to scare you, by the way. It is Movie Week this weekend, which

always gets us excited. You have got a cha cha cha, what can you tell us?

I know you're not allowed to give too much away? What do you know

about the cha cha cha, Louise? Keep my legs straight and move my hips.

Those were my notes for today. I was going, two, three, four, one, two,

three, four, all day. Lock it in, which counts do you go forward? She

went, "Five?" It was like I had sworn, you must never say "Five".

And that knee thing, how are you going to follow the Star Wars dance

from last year's Movie Week? You have to follow that. The plan last

week was Jamie Redknapp came into training and Louise was all

frustrated and said, I can't do it, I have to do this, have to do that,

the posture is here, I have do stretch across the floor, and Jamie

goes, "Well, just do that, then." The Sportsman's mentality. Don't

moan about it, just do it. Music and outfit, I am so excited. Good luck

on Saturday, doing brilliantly, Louise and Kevin!

APPLAUSE Now, the judges have had their say, but what about Karen?

It is time for corner. -- we are loving that the remix of the

intro. Loving it. Karen, what a weekend. I have to say, for the

second week, their performances were just up there this weekend. We will

talk about Laura and Giovanni, she looked like Veronica Lake out on the

dance floor. The waltz, the joint highest scoring of the dads and Len

praised her "Beautiful, throw over sway", and I love those, if I knew

what one was. What is it? We will lead into it and as we lead into it,

we have to look at her beautiful head position. She goes away into

the throwaway position and even the change of the head, that is the

throwaway over sway. Normally by week two or week three, they have

looked at videos or seen this head position and they are overextending

and it feels uncomfortable. She just has all the bricks naturally sitting

on top of each other, beautiful. Warning, though, let's get a bit

spicy. I see they are doing a salsa next week, I want to see a bit of

spice in this girl. But gracious and beautiful. Stunning. Next, Ed Balls

and the Charleston! It was a huge hit with the audience. It was a huge

hit across the nation. I have to say, they said bring it, balls, and

he really did. How impressed were you? I loved it, it is clear that

nobody is putting baby in the corner. You know what, who started

of fear and what I love, if we watch closely, he is wearing out and then

he gets this new lease of life, as though catty at homing in on him and

saying do not slow down -- Katya. He did not stop from beginning to end,

he is the man who is not going to sit on the side at a wedding, he

will be getting up and having a go and that is what I love about the

show, the ones you think are going to sit back and crews and then you

get something like that. It is pure tele- joy, they were all smiling,

even pat on camera one. Anastacia and Brendan with a salsa, she had

this injury and they had to change the routine last minute, so she has

to learn it and then unlearn it just before going on. That is tricky for

a probe. -- professional. We have a routine for five years, so to learn

it in two minutes. So pressure and the trust factor is what I love with

these two. She rose to it and took it on. Here, they are coming towards

the end and as Brendan is preparing, they believe so much, he has started

before she has even gone down into the line to finish this number. The

trust factor, the teamwork between these two is unstoppable and it is

going to carry them through and we wish her well. We do wish her well.

It was a tough night for them. Moving onto Naga and Pasha. When

they came out, people were like, "Who's Batgirl?" Loving the Barnet.

Len did say the cha cha cha was full of mistakes. Can you talk us through

some of those? It is really tricky, it is like a scattering of little

mini mistakes everywhere, but not enough that you can say, it was

exactly that. We have a couple of things here, slightly out of sync,

just looks slightly behind, but you have do overlook all about. When she

comes out looking like that, glitz personified. I want to wrap her in

cotton wool, make her feel a bit special and put a beautiful big

smile on her. She is just a bit nervous at the moment. If we can

make her feel at home, the Strictly family say, come on, give us that

big smile, she will be amazing. It is that confidence thing, it is hard

enough to go out there anyway and then wearing a dress like that,

doing something she has never done before... That is stunning, the

look, their hair, even that, you have to have confidence to carry

that on the floor and I thought she was magnificent. It is week two.

Now, Gregg and Natalie's tango, his bottom was a major talking point of

the evening. What can you tell me? We can tell it is hurt and

beautifully shaped, but as we go into this line here, can you see the

curve at the back? He does the Contra check, he is going down the

line, going into a prominent position and you see the bottom is

slightly sticking back. What this basically means, in the first couple

of weeks, you have got to get used to going into each other's space, it

is quite a bizarre feeling. So much so, let's demonstrate. Queen of

tango, yourself. Now, don't get so excited, very, very simple. First of

all in tango, we have these knees that are really fret -- flexed. No

pigeon toes. It has been a long time. We just knock the feed

slightly back from each other. That is the easy beat -- bid. We have to

get up close and comfortable. My knee has to go in between your two

knees and I have got to grip, I am gripping. Now, you can see my knee

popping out the other side. This is like twister. If I move my knees

back a bit, you will see that I feel a bit uncomfortable. We get the

knees in, up close and comfortable and... Get into that. That, ladies

and gentlemen, is how you tuck your bottom, from the mistress. I love

that. Thank you, Karen, we will see you again to talk about our couples

tomorrow. Karen Hardy! That livened me up. They may have danced their

emotionally charged Viennese waltz like they were having relationship

issues but this is one partnership working in perfect harmony.

That was really like watching a waltzing heart-throb. It is elegant,

the way you held your top line. A very nice stands. You are a

fantastic dancer, you really are. Welcome Danny and Oti! Do you know

what? I have had so many messages with people saying I am in love with

Danny, say hello to Danny. Are you praise Brosnan, you Richard Keogh,

young Thom Cruise? -- Pierce Brosnan. An amazing performance of

your Viennese waltz and quite a wait to go right at the end. How was the

anxiety just before you performed? Compared to the week before, I was

terrified the first week but this week, it was a little bit easier

during the day, everyone was a little bit more relaxed but then

waiting for 14 dances, it got nerve wracking. I was nervous, I was

shaking. We changed the routine every day, even up to the dress

rehearsal. Two minutes before we went on and he was asking me, am I

doing this right? And I was like, you are asking me now? You need the

reassurance, though. Very exciting for you, Oti, Len in modern twist on

a Viennese waltz approval shocker! Taking a little bit of a risk

because he likes it to be quite traditional, but you must have been

chuffed. I was so nervous, I did not sleep the whole weekend we kept

changing it because we were saying, we have to dance more, we have to

dance more so for him to say that was a relief. Danny, I have to say I

loved the pulling Oti's leg move. We can see that again. Was that quite

hard to master? It looks quite scary. Maybe we just got a lucky one

there. Oti is so good, if I let go, she would probably hold herself up.

Amazing. The only critique that you had from the judges at all was that

there was a bit of skipping. Were you aware that she was skipping? It

was all choreographed, they just didn't like it! Obviously, you are

leading out there, Danny, and doing it so well but it does appear in the

training room, somebody else might be the boss. Here we go!

One, two, three. Bend your knees! Am I the boss? I am the boss. OK,

you're the boss, you are the boss. She really, really means business,

she is incredible. I will pinch you. What is next? I am not hurting him,

he is being dramatic as usual. That is really painful. What did I do?

Don't look so mad, smile about it. You are on Strictly Come Dancing! I

love it. Don't mess with Oti. It is Movie Week this weekend, you have a

paso doble. It is so exciting, how is it going? Apparently we have had

an hour today. We have done for things. Straight after this, I am

straight back into training. I like it, Monday night, taking it

seriously. Also, Oti, it is only your second Strictly Come Dancing,

last year you were paired with lovely Anthony and you were the

second to Ogogo! Are you feeling safe with Danny? I did have the best

time with Anthony, I must say, but I am feeling a little safer with

Danny, but you never know, because we could go home any time. One week

at a time, you can't be too comfortable. Tell me about the Danny

Mac dans I have heard is gripping the nation. Danny is like, what are

you talking about? When I concentrate, I seem to get very

moody and I get a very miserable face and Oti doesn't like that and

she prefers me smiling and happy, so to try and relax me, she does a

silly dance that makes me smile. Once in awhile, when he gets

something right, I say, "Go, Danny, go, Danny." And then I am smiling

and the pressure eases and we can get some work done. You are in your

happy place. Good luck being a matador on Saturday night, I think
