Right, I'm on the Friday panel
and I've been tasked | 0:00:12 | 0:00:16
with finding a host - we've not got
much time left so give me | 0:00:16 | 0:00:19
what you've got. | 0:00:19 | 0:00:20
I was once strapped
to the sails of a | 0:00:20 | 0:00:25
windmill upside down. | 0:00:25 | 0:00:27
I can make a Tracey Island using | 0:00:27 | 0:00:29
an old cereal box
and some p.v.a glue. | 0:00:29 | 0:00:32
It's Blackpool week, so here's a
donkey I made earlier. | 0:00:32 | 0:00:35
Actually that's quite impressive | 0:00:35 | 0:00:39
And what are your credentials? | 0:00:39 | 0:00:42
Erm, I've only hosted 387 episodes. | 0:00:42 | 0:00:43
Yeah but Radzi here made a donkey. | 0:00:43 | 0:00:45
Fair point. | 0:00:45 | 0:00:49
Welcome in an Zoe | 0:01:56 | 0:01:57
welcome your host, Zoe Ball! | 0:02:02 | 0:02:06
Hello and welcome to It Takes Two! | 0:02:06 | 0:02:09
Where the pleasure
beach is all ours! | 0:02:09 | 0:02:11
Yes, we can't be beside the seaside
so we've brought the seaside to us - | 0:02:11 | 0:02:15
donkeys, deck chairs, the works. | 0:02:15 | 0:02:16
Can I also say a massive thank
you to Gethin Jones who was | 0:02:16 | 0:02:19
holding the fort while I was away. | 0:02:19 | 0:02:21
Just 24 hours, 42 minutes and 44
seconds until the live Blackpool | 0:02:21 | 0:02:24
extravaganza. | 0:02:24 | 0:02:28
We could not be more excited. | 0:02:28 | 0:02:30
Coming up, Kelly Brook,
Nikki Fox and Jason Manford give us | 0:02:30 | 0:02:33
their verdict on this year's
contenders, and Mr Manford will be | 0:02:33 | 0:02:36
singing for us, too! | 0:02:36 | 0:02:37
Plus, let's not forget
it's Children in Need night! | 0:02:37 | 0:02:39
We'll be speaking to three Blue
Peter legends, all in contention | 0:02:39 | 0:02:48
for the Pudsey Glitter Ball trophy. | 0:02:48 | 0:02:54
But now, we might be over 200 miles
south of the Tower Ballroom, | 0:02:54 | 0:02:57
And we just so happen to know a guy
who's always in the right place | 0:02:57 | 0:03:01
at the right time -
over to you Gethin! | 0:03:01 | 0:03:03
Tomorrow night promises to be the
greatest show on Earth. Halloween | 0:03:03 | 0:03:09
wasn't so scary, but this is what
they have all been focused on. They | 0:03:09 | 0:03:16
are all in the ballroom now doing
their last-minute preparations for | 0:03:16 | 0:03:20
the show and I will grab a word with
them. I'll see you in a bit. | 0:03:20 | 0:03:28
CHEERING | 0:03:28 | 0:03:32
Now, when it comes to spectacular
group numbers there's no better | 0:03:32 | 0:03:35
setting than the Tower Ballroom,
where this weekend our pros | 0:03:35 | 0:03:37
will recreate some of that
Northern Soul magic. | 0:03:37 | 0:03:39
Here's a look at rehearsals
at the modern-day Blackpool Mecca. | 0:03:39 | 0:03:43
It Takes two, get ready, because we
have a huge treat for you in | 0:03:43 | 0:03:48
Blackpool. Something totally
different. This time, Northern Soul. | 0:03:48 | 0:03:55
Blackpool isn't just famous for
ballroom dancing, it's one of the | 0:03:55 | 0:04:00
original homes for Northern Soul.
Every year we are looking for | 0:04:00 | 0:04:03
something different. We always take
people back to where things came | 0:04:03 | 0:04:07
from. So this is an opportunity to
create a link between ballroom and | 0:04:07 | 0:04:15
Northern Soul. We're also getting
the involved, as well. Blackpool | 0:04:15 | 0:04:19
will be very full. -- also getting
the dads involved, as well. It's | 0:04:19 | 0:04:29
been going on since the 70s. It's
very subjective, it is how you feel | 0:04:29 | 0:04:34
the music, there are no rules
whatsoever. My favourite part is any | 0:04:34 | 0:04:39
bit I'm in. I like a bit of street.
I like getting cool, down, a bit of | 0:04:39 | 0:04:49
Northern Soul, do you know what I
mean? My favourite part is when the | 0:04:49 | 0:04:53
girl is in the centre just spinning
on her head. That's amazing! This is | 0:04:53 | 0:04:58
going to be huge. We are not even
doubling up, we are tripling up on | 0:04:58 | 0:05:03
the amount of dancers. This could be
one of strictly bugs biggest group | 0:05:03 | 0:05:06
numbers of all time -- Strictly's
biggest group numbers of all time. I | 0:05:06 | 0:05:15
will be bringing the Northern. I'll
be bringing the soul. See you in | 0:05:15 | 0:05:20
Blackpool! | 0:05:20 | 0:05:21
So, we've got beach balls,
sand castles, | 0:05:22 | 0:05:24
and did I mention the donkey? | 0:05:24 | 0:05:25
But if this show is missing
anything, it's three | 0:05:25 | 0:05:27
Strictly super fans. | 0:05:27 | 0:05:28
Put your hands together for Kelly
Brook, Nikki Fox and Jason Manford! | 0:05:28 | 0:05:35
CHEERING
Welcome. | 0:05:35 | 0:05:40
Jason, you're the closest thing
we've got to a Blackpool expert. | 0:05:40 | 0:05:42
What's so special about
the Vegas of the North? | 0:05:42 | 0:05:44
It is our Vegas. It is as close as
you can get. You've never been. | 0:05:44 | 0:05:51
Never been. He was really selling
it. Really? He said forget Vegas, go | 0:05:51 | 0:06:00
to Blackpool. She said is it like
Margate, I said nothing is like | 0:06:00 | 0:06:03
Margate. It has heritage. It is
where all of our old entertainers | 0:06:03 | 0:06:08
used to go for summer season. It's a
great night out generally. It is | 0:06:08 | 0:06:15
putting a foot in the past, I love
it. My family went to Blackpool and | 0:06:15 | 0:06:21
we saw Brian Conley. Walking around?
Doing a show? He was doing a show. I | 0:06:21 | 0:06:28
love that, we miss you, Brian... And
Aston, we will have to mention all | 0:06:28 | 0:06:32
of them now. | 0:06:32 | 0:06:34
You're going to be performing for us
at the end of the show. | 0:06:34 | 0:06:38
What a treat.
APPLAUSE | 0:06:38 | 0:06:40
We know you can sing,
but can you dance? | 0:06:40 | 0:06:44
Comes up a lot on this show. There
is a difference between being able | 0:06:44 | 0:06:48
to dance and learn choreography. I
can do that. But I wouldn't, if I | 0:06:48 | 0:06:53
was in a wedding party, that isn't
me. OK. | 0:06:53 | 0:06:58
Kelly, we know you can dance! | 0:06:58 | 0:07:01
Welcome back. | 0:07:01 | 0:07:03
What are you making
of the current crop? | 0:07:03 | 0:07:07
I think they are incredible. We were
watching it on Saturday. My partner | 0:07:07 | 0:07:13
said, who is the professional, who
is the salinity? He is from France, | 0:07:13 | 0:07:18
he didn't know, and it was
Alexandra's Argentine Tango. -- who | 0:07:18 | 0:07:25
is the celebrity? My jaw hit the
ground. She has learnt to do that in | 0:07:25 | 0:07:29
a week. People don't understand,
it's so difficult, every week is | 0:07:29 | 0:07:33
like starting from scratch. Even if
you had experience... And she is | 0:07:33 | 0:07:38
smashing it. My cheap jacket has got
stuck... | 0:07:38 | 0:07:48
CHUCKLES | 0:07:48 | 0:07:50
Nikki, you're a self-confessed
Strictly nerd, what level of fandom | 0:07:50 | 0:07:53
are we talking about here? | 0:07:53 | 0:07:54
Do you have autographs of all of the
judges? I am a huge fan. So my | 0:07:54 | 0:08:00
family. They are here today. They
are our favourite audience members, | 0:08:00 | 0:08:04
they are very loud. They have never
cared about anything I've ever done, | 0:08:04 | 0:08:10
but It Takes two, they are here. I
am a huge fan. In my head, obviously | 0:08:10 | 0:08:16
I cannot dance... Not at all, but in
my head it would be with Kevin, if I | 0:08:16 | 0:08:21
could. With Kevin? Dreams can come
true. | 0:08:21 | 0:08:24 | |
Let's take a look
at our couples now. | 0:08:24 | 0:08:29
First up, it's Joe and Katya,
they're dancing the Salsa | 0:08:29 | 0:08:31
to 'Ride on time'. | 0:08:31 | 0:08:32
Often labelled a dark horse. A
unicorn. | 0:08:32 | 0:08:40
Where is this young stallion
in the running for you? | 0:08:40 | 0:08:43
Extra dancers, as well. | 0:08:43 | 0:08:45
# Ride On Time - Black Box # | 0:08:45 | 0:08:48
He stays in the middle. You don't
know which Joe is turning up. | 0:08:48 | 0:08:52
That looks good, just there. Are you
liking that? | 0:08:55 | 0:09:00
CHEERING
Lots of Joe van into night. Every | 0:09:00 | 0:09:03
contingency. | 0:09:03 | 0:09:04
They've got a 90's theme going on. | 0:09:04 | 0:09:06
Do you think they're
going to get the judges raving? | 0:09:06 | 0:09:10
I think so. It looks like he is
getting all of the moves. You need | 0:09:10 | 0:09:14
to put energy in. I love the
storytelling this year. Everything | 0:09:14 | 0:09:18
has a good narrative. Even if they
can't do the steps, they have so | 0:09:18 | 0:09:22
much expression.
LAUGHTER | 0:09:22 | 0:09:25
Not naming any names. He is a good
actor. Lastly, such a good actor, | 0:09:25 | 0:09:30
you were just in there. That rumba. | 0:09:30 | 0:09:37
Next up, it's Jonnie and Oti, they
were in the bottom two last week. | 0:09:37 | 0:09:41
He was in trouble last week. | 0:09:41 | 0:09:42
Can their Tango keep them safe? | 0:09:42 | 0:09:44
# Sweet Dreams - Eurythmics # | 0:09:44 | 0:09:47
Amazing team. I am a bit of a
traditionalist. -- amazing song. | 0:09:47 | 0:09:56
He's got to bring it. He could be in
danger of being in the bottom two. | 0:09:56 | 0:10:00
Come on, Jonnie. This could be his
dance, though. I thought it looked | 0:10:00 | 0:10:06
moody. And he is with Oti. It is
difficult for the boys, as well, | 0:10:06 | 0:10:13
because they have to lead the girl.
When you are a girl in the show, you | 0:10:13 | 0:10:16
get dragged around. You get so
disorientated. I don't know where I | 0:10:16 | 0:10:22
am, I could be in any country right
now, but the boys have to guide, so | 0:10:22 | 0:10:25
it is harder. It is. | 0:10:25 | 0:10:36
# Live And Let Die - Wings # | 0:10:38 | 0:10:42
I can see his confidence growing
every week. He looks in the zone, so | 0:10:42 | 0:10:48
intense, I love that. And that's
Tuesday. If he is that good on | 0:10:48 | 0:10:53
Tuesday, imagine. You have been
paying attention. | 0:10:53 | 0:10:58
Alexandra and Gorka now. | 0:10:58 | 0:11:02
Is that a positive? Here they are in
training, how is she looking? | 0:11:02 | 0:11:09
# We're In The Money
(The Gold Digger's Song) # | 0:11:09 | 0:11:13
It is difficult for Alexandra. She
has had the training. She has been | 0:11:13 | 0:11:16
in the West End. But when you turn
up, it is learn it and get it done. | 0:11:16 | 0:11:22
She has nailed it every single time.
Could it be 40 for her? She hasn't | 0:11:22 | 0:11:29
got it yet. I think so and so does
my mum. What is your mum's name? | 0:11:29 | 0:11:34
Stephanie. Stephanie knows her
stuff. Thank you for your views, we | 0:11:34 | 0:11:41
will be talking about the rest of
the couple 's late in the show, but | 0:11:41 | 0:11:44
first, give it up for my panel!
CHEERING | 0:11:44 | 0:11:55
Look who I have found, Susan,
Mollie, and Jonnie, who I know are | 0:11:57 | 0:12:02
very excited about tomorrow night.
Susan, your Joanne Clifton's dream, | 0:12:02 | 0:12:06
a five-year paso doble in the
making, are you nervous? Yes, but I | 0:12:06 | 0:12:11
am excited. It has been Kevin's
dream for more than five years, the | 0:12:11 | 0:12:15
paso doble a from Strictly Ballroom.
I have to look at him with passion, | 0:12:15 | 0:12:22
I had to imagine he is a bowl of
macaroni cheese. That works. Extra | 0:12:22 | 0:12:28
dancers, as well, how are you
dealing with that? It is meant to be | 0:12:28 | 0:12:33
like a come dancing competition and
they all said yes please. Very | 0:12:33 | 0:12:37
Strictly. Jonnie, you are used to
big stadiums, how does Blackpool | 0:12:37 | 0:12:42
compare? Slightly different. It's
amazing. Everybody has been talking | 0:12:42 | 0:12:47
about it for ages. To make it here
is incredible. You feel something | 0:12:47 | 0:12:51
special. It adds adrenaline. The
first time you walk into this | 0:12:51 | 0:12:56
ballroom, it just adds a little bit
of fire. Hopefully we can add that | 0:12:56 | 0:12:59
to that of the dance. We talked
about in the week, does it work? I | 0:12:59 | 0:13:06
hit the roof, I put my blade on, it
is extra bouncy, so I end up in the | 0:13:06 | 0:13:10
roof. We wondered where had gone.
You could be flying with your | 0:13:10 | 0:13:15
Charleston. Yes. I don't know where
I will end up, maybe in the judges' | 0:13:15 | 0:13:24
laps. Maybe that'll get me a better
score. How are you managing with the | 0:13:24 | 0:13:28
lifts? I'm all over the place. We
managed it once. Hopefully we can do | 0:13:28 | 0:13:33
it on the live show, fingers
crossed. When do I get to meet Nanna | 0:13:33 | 0:13:39
king? She is 93. It is a bit of a
long way for her. We went to her and | 0:13:39 | 0:13:44
gave her the Charleston in the
living room. Thanks, guys, get back | 0:13:44 | 0:13:48
to rehearsal. Thanks.
Love to Nanna if she is watching at | 0:13:48 | 0:13:53
home. | 0:13:53 | 0:13:55 | |
Now, for this year's Children
in Need, Blue Peter presenters | 0:13:55 | 0:13:58
past and present took to
the Strictly Ballroom | 0:13:58 | 0:14:00
to compete for the Pudsey
Glitter Ball trophy. | 0:14:00 | 0:14:02
Without revealing too much,
three of them are here tonight! | 0:14:02 | 0:14:04
Please welcome Mark Curry, Anthea
Turner and Radzi Chinyanganya! | 0:14:04 | 0:14:09
CHEERING | 0:14:09 | 0:14:11
Mark, my favourite blue Peter
presenter. Don't take offence! We | 0:14:22 | 0:14:28
all have our favourites. | 0:14:28 | 0:14:30
Blue Peter is celebrating
it's 60th anniversary! | 0:14:30 | 0:14:34
Could you diamond ju-believe it? | 0:14:34 | 0:14:38
I was not presenting it then. You
were not, let's make a point. That | 0:14:38 | 0:14:44
would have been 1958 it would have
been... Christopher Trace. Nina | 0:14:44 | 0:14:52
Williams who was Miss Great Britain
and he got a job because the BBC | 0:14:52 | 0:15:00
wanted everybody to be proper. Which
all of you were. | 0:15:00 | 0:15:02
Tim Vincent, Diane Lousie Jordan
and Konnie Huq also joined you. | 0:15:02 | 0:15:05
What was it like getting
the old gang back together, | 0:15:05 | 0:15:07
and for such a good cause? | 0:15:07 | 0:15:09
It was fabulous. It was like a
meeting of the school. We couldn't | 0:15:09 | 0:15:14
stop talking. Did we get round to
dancing? Just a little bit. It was | 0:15:14 | 0:15:19
like trying to control the kids. So
much to discuss, all of those | 0:15:19 | 0:15:24
challenges, when I jumped out of a
plane... We didn't want to compete, | 0:15:24 | 0:15:29
we wanted to dance together, that
was the great bit. Radzi, the year | 0:15:29 | 0:15:36
you were born, Mark started
presenting. You also nailed my | 0:15:36 | 0:15:46
surname live on TV. Thank you!
APPLAUSE | 0:15:46 | 0:15:52
It's a beautiful surname.
How excited were you when you got | 0:15:52 | 0:15:56
the call? Massively, it is Children
In Need, and for Blue Peter, so yes. | 0:15:56 | 0:16:07
You all danced together, then you
get 30 seconds each to impress the | 0:16:07 | 0:16:10
judges. It was the longest 30
seconds I have spent in my life! | 0:16:10 | 0:16:17
Amazing music to dance to as well. | 0:16:17 | 0:16:28
Jill Halfpenny did one, how great
was it to pay homage? I was | 0:16:29 | 0:16:41
thinking, "Energy, energy! Point!" | 0:16:41 | 0:16:48
On the Tuesday morning, we had done
a routine, there were good lifts, | 0:16:51 | 0:16:57
Brendan was lifting and throwing,
and I think we were going to do a | 0:16:57 | 0:17:01
little, and I dropped her... I had
time to turn my face, and Bruce | 0:17:01 | 0:17:07
might cheat, but she fell face
first. Were the teeth all right? She | 0:17:07 | 0:17:12
went like that... One came out...
LAUGHTER | 0:17:12 | 0:17:17
Before you tell me more stories,
here is a look at what went on | 0:17:17 | 0:17:21
behind the scenes. | 0:17:21 | 0:17:24
It's the Blue Peter 60th anniversary
this year, and we are performing a | 0:17:26 | 0:17:30
jive, and competing for the Pudsey
Trophy. We all haven't been in the | 0:17:30 | 0:17:35
same room together for five years.
It is a lot of catching up. I am | 0:17:35 | 0:17:40
excited. I used to watch the show
all the time, toilet rolls, | 0:17:40 | 0:17:45
washing-up bottles. You know them
all then? Yes! | 0:17:45 | 0:17:50
I am just about to try my frock on
and, all I can say is, here is one I | 0:17:50 | 0:17:55
made earlier. I was excited when I
got the shoes, but now we have | 0:17:55 | 0:18:00
got... | 0:18:00 | 0:18:03
That is lovely, Sir, go through
there. You look fantastic. | 0:18:04 | 0:18:13
All I can hear in my head is, "one,
two, three, four, five, six, seven, | 0:18:13 | 0:18:19

All the ladies might be taking up | 0:18:19 | 0:18:24
all the seats in the make-up room.
The boys are in the corridor. Smash | 0:18:24 | 0:18:31
it, good luck. Thank you, thank you,
thank you. | 0:18:31 | 0:18:36
I find the routine fast, really
fast, it is loads of energy in a | 0:18:36 | 0:18:40
short time. Having kids here is the
best in the world. The energy is | 0:18:40 | 0:18:44
fantastic, and we will love dancing
in front of them. Live in five | 0:18:44 | 0:18:48
minutes for our children In Need
spectacular. | 0:18:48 | 0:18:52
I'm really looking forward to Radzi
dancing, because he's my favourite | 0:18:54 | 0:18:58
Blue Peter presenter. | 0:18:58 | 0:19:01
I'm like a coiled spring ready to
go. Showtime! Children In Need time! | 0:19:03 | 0:19:12
Tune in to see how Blue Peter gets
on in there. Remember, keep giving! | 0:19:12 | 0:19:21
It looks so much fun. And injuries,
Anthea. Diane-Louise Jordan, smiling | 0:19:23 | 0:19:31
away, cracked two rips practising a
lift. This is how dangerous it is. | 0:19:31 | 0:19:37
Foolish! You did all sorts of
singing and dancing, but did you | 0:19:37 | 0:19:44
ever jive, Mark? I never jive. You
think you can dance, then when you | 0:19:44 | 0:19:49
are working with the pros, you
realise you can't. There is so much | 0:19:49 | 0:19:54
to it. Things like, Amy said to me,
when you put your hand on my back, | 0:19:54 | 0:19:58
don't splay your fingers. Craig
doesn't like it. So much to | 0:19:58 | 0:20:03
remember. Anthea, you does with
veteran Brendan. He said to me, | 0:20:03 | 0:20:10
apart from bending your knees, he
said the problem is I am a show | 0:20:10 | 0:20:15
dancer. Charming! I am just a bit of
a... Jazz hands. That is how I am. | 0:20:15 | 0:20:26
We all are. What is wrong with that?
Radzi, you have done some incredible | 0:20:26 | 0:20:29
challenges, what is more mortifying,
jumping out of a plane or dancing | 0:20:29 | 0:20:34
for the judges? Dancing for the
judges, I could feel my feet when I | 0:20:34 | 0:20:38
skydive, but not when I was dancing!
Chloe, I had to say, that girl is a | 0:20:38 | 0:20:43
legend, and she came on Blue Peter
with AJ before Strictly Come | 0:20:43 | 0:20:51
Dancing, dancing with her a few
years later on Strictly Come | 0:20:51 | 0:20:53
Dancing! Make sure you tune into
Children In Need on BBC One tonight | 0:20:53 | 0:20:59
from 7:30 to find out who was
crowned champion. Thank you so much | 0:20:59 | 0:21:04
to our Blue Peter stars! | 0:21:04 | 0:21:14
General Townshend is here, what is
it like in Blackpool? Blackpool | 0:21:29 | 0:21:33
everything is bigger and more
spectacular. The building, | 0:21:33 | 0:21:36
everything we do has to be bigger to
match that Golding and make the show | 0:21:36 | 0:21:39
looked even more special. It is not
just due in the corner of the studio | 0:21:39 | 0:21:44
on your own, how many in the team?
Five technicians working alongside | 0:21:44 | 0:21:49
me, and yeah, it is a good team. We
have to work hard together. Busy for | 0:21:49 | 0:21:53
everyone. What have you been
rehearsing so far? We have look at | 0:21:53 | 0:21:58
Davood's number, where he is James
Bond. We have helped him with a | 0:21:58 | 0:22:01
flame sequence to go with that. He
has seven flame units on the floor, | 0:22:01 | 0:22:06
chasing, and doing nice things. It
enhances all the performances. The | 0:22:06 | 0:22:14
couples in general react to it. It
really lifts them. It makes | 0:22:14 | 0:22:18
everything feel more special. When
we tell people we have pyrotechnics, | 0:22:18 | 0:22:22
they love it. It punctuates their
routine and makes it more special. | 0:22:22 | 0:22:27
One thing you do as a department is
made a massive mess. Who cleaned it | 0:22:27 | 0:22:33
up? That is asked as well. We make
the mess and we have one minute and | 0:22:33 | 0:22:38
20 seconds to clear it up. What you
don't see is the moment when we go | 0:22:38 | 0:22:41
across to the judges, and they say
what they thought of the dance. We | 0:22:41 | 0:22:46
are crawling underneath the cameras
with brooms, clearing up the | 0:22:46 | 0:22:50
confetti. You need a wide shot to
see us, but it is good you do not | 0:22:50 | 0:22:53
see us. There are no stairs either.
Claudia's area is on the same level, | 0:22:53 | 0:23:00
and we are literally on our Tom
Eaves clearing confetti away. Show | 0:23:00 | 0:23:04
me quickly how it all works very
quickly. Is this the headquarters? | 0:23:04 | 0:23:09
This is a wireless firing system, it
does everything from hand-held | 0:23:09 | 0:23:16
pyrotechnics, the flaming system, to
the Pyro at the end of the numbers. | 0:23:16 | 0:23:19
All we do... There is a key as well.
It doesn't fire unless you have the | 0:23:19 | 0:23:25
key. You pop the key in, turn it,
and we get a red button. The red | 0:23:25 | 0:23:31
button is flashing, and if I press
that, it all goes up! It does. Close | 0:23:31 | 0:23:37
it, it is too worrying for me. I
could have spoiled everything then. | 0:23:37 | 0:23:43
The stage may almost be set
for the main event, but how's | 0:23:43 | 0:23:46
the dancing coming along? | 0:23:46 | 0:23:49
Time to check in with Joe, Mollie,
Gemma and Susan as they prepare for | 0:23:49 | 0:23:52
the biggest night of their lives! | 0:23:52 | 0:23:53
We are doing salsa. It is an
ambitious routine. The thing that is | 0:23:56 | 0:24:02
challenging is being on the right
foot. The other leg! | 0:24:02 | 0:24:05
Not an easy dance for a man because
of the leading. | 0:24:05 | 0:24:09
You have to think, when you lift,
push me away. | 0:24:09 | 0:24:13
He's got to know his steps, my
steps. | 0:24:13 | 0:24:15
A bit more precise.
To lead me into the right direction. | 0:24:15 | 0:24:19
Watch me turn.
It is full of energy. If we can pull | 0:24:19 | 0:24:27
it off, it will be quite something.
Yes, good! | 0:24:27 | 0:24:33
The charleston is really fast. There
is so much to learn. Your mind feels | 0:24:33 | 0:24:37
it is going 100 mph.
Technically, it is difficult. The | 0:24:37 | 0:24:43
routine is complex. The main thing
for Wally is to get the swivels of | 0:24:43 | 0:24:47
the feed. It is OK when you are in
the swing of it, but sometimes, my | 0:24:47 | 0:24:53
feet had to cross but my arms Cross
instead. | 0:24:53 | 0:24:56
Oh, in front of the body.
You have to focus but looked like | 0:24:56 | 0:25:01
you are naturally doing it.
There it is! There it is, baby! | 0:25:01 | 0:25:09
This week, we are dancing the
American Smooth. It is a pace I feel | 0:25:09 | 0:25:14
I can do. Gemma is really taking on
board all of my tips about the | 0:25:14 | 0:25:20
business, and how to focus and what
to look at. | 0:25:20 | 0:25:22
My eyes have to look over the
rainbow from one side to the other. | 0:25:22 | 0:25:27
Over the rainbow, over the rainbow.
It is keeping the momentum going for | 0:25:27 | 0:25:31
the whole dance, so it glides
through. | 0:25:31 | 0:25:36
It is the first time I feel relaxed.
I may be enjoyed ballroom... | 0:25:36 | 0:25:45
That is a proud face, boom!
Paso doble is about styling and | 0:25:45 | 0:25:48
shaping. You have to fill the
ballroom with your presence, and it | 0:25:48 | 0:25:54
is about posture and how you hold
yourself. | 0:25:54 | 0:25:58
The paso doble is a strong dance, I
had to be strong throughout it. I | 0:25:58 | 0:26:02
didn't know the muscles in my four
arms could hurt so much! | 0:26:02 | 0:26:09
It is elongated and powerful, and
slightly arrogant. | 0:26:09 | 0:26:14
There, posture. I love the feeling
of the paso doble. | 0:26:14 | 0:26:20
Standing in the towel ballroom doing
that, it will be incredible. | 0:26:20 | 0:26:23
Now, dancers come and go around
these parts, but along with a fella | 0:26:28 | 0:26:31
named Anton Du Beke there's
one man who's been lighting up | 0:26:31 | 0:26:33
the Strictly dance floor
from the very start. | 0:26:33 | 0:26:37
It's time for
Brendan Cole's Strictly CV. | 0:26:37 | 0:26:40
Couple number one, Natasha Kaplinsky
and her partner Brendan Cole, | 0:26:44 | 0:26:48
please, come to the floor.
I did the very first dance on the | 0:26:48 | 0:26:51
very first Strictly Come Dancing
ever. | 0:26:51 | 0:26:55 | |
My first ever partner, the lovely
Natasha Kaplinsky, wow. We had some | 0:26:55 | 0:26:58
fantastic moments.
At first, the dance we did was the | 0:26:58 | 0:27:03
cha-cha-cha. It was exciting and
exhilarating. | 0:27:03 | 0:27:09
The first feedback from the judges.
For the most part, it was really | 0:27:09 | 0:27:14
positive.
I think it's fantastic. Go for it, | 0:27:14 | 0:27:18
girl! Go for it!
Then we get the fell on the end, | 0:27:18 | 0:27:23
what does he know?
Natasha, I am afraid I don't agree | 0:27:23 | 0:27:26
with the other judges. I thought you
were dull, dull, dull. I thought, | 0:27:26 | 0:27:32
get out of here!
Making the final with Natasha is a | 0:27:32 | 0:27:38
highlight of my career.
The winners of Strictly Come Dancing | 0:27:38 | 0:27:43
are... Natasha and Brendan.
The elation of winning was | 0:27:43 | 0:27:51
spectacular. I remember the stuff
coming down, and the feeling of | 0:27:51 | 0:27:54
euphoria.
What a way to start Strictly Come | 0:27:54 | 0:27:58
Dancing.
Kelly Brook, what a natural | 0:27:58 | 0:28:05
performer. One of the best answer is
to enter the Strictly arena. One | 0:28:05 | 0:28:09
week stands out in particular, we
did the American Smooth. It was | 0:28:09 | 0:28:13
effortless, it had beauty and magic.
You get a partnership that gels, you | 0:28:13 | 0:28:18
can do so much in this competition.
We finished the dance, we both | 0:28:18 | 0:28:22
looked at each other and went, wow.
It was almost perfect. | 0:28:22 | 0:28:29
Unfortunately, it did have to come
to an end with the sad passing of | 0:28:29 | 0:28:33
Kelly's father, so she withdrew from
the competition. | 0:28:33 | 0:28:38
Without a doubt, Kelly could have
gone all the way in that | 0:28:38 | 0:28:40
competition. For me, that is the
series that really got away. | 0:28:40 | 0:28:48
The lovely Lisa Snowdon, what a
girl. It was pretty epic. | 0:28:48 | 0:28:57
We were quite often in the dance
off. | 0:28:57 | 0:29:01 | |
This is the moment of truth...
When you are in a dance of | 0:29:01 | 0:29:06
situation, there are so me? That
enter your heads. Are people voting | 0:29:06 | 0:29:10
for me? Are we doing the right
thing? I think Lisa dealt with these | 0:29:10 | 0:29:18
things Brearley, and that's probably
why we made the final. | 0:29:18 | 0:29:21
It was a feeling of, wow, we are
here now, let's do this. Best do | 0:29:21 | 0:29:25
this for each other. Ten! We were
the first couple to score perfect | 0:29:25 | 0:29:30
scores in both our final dancers. | 0:29:30 | 0:29:32
Victoria Pendleton and Brendan Cole!
Victoria had just won gold. She was | 0:29:41 | 0:29:52
coming in and starting from scratch.
It was a very hard task. It pains me | 0:29:52 | 0:29:59
to say, but it didn't quite make it
to Spain, the bike. I learnt a lot | 0:29:59 | 0:30:10
about myself as a coach, a friend,
and support network, which we are on | 0:30:10 | 0:30:16
Strictly. It wasn't easy to give her
exactly what she needed to go about | 0:30:16 | 0:30:21
and perform on a Saturday night. I
just blew it so much. It doesn't | 0:30:21 | 0:30:24
matter. I'm so sorry. It's one of
the toughest challenges I've ever | 0:30:24 | 0:30:30
faced on Strictly. Sophie, your
partner is Brendan! In series 11 | 0:30:30 | 0:30:37
with the wonderful Sophie. I loved
that series from start to finish. | 0:30:37 | 0:30:45
Every single dance we I walked off
the floor thinking was amazing. -- | 0:30:45 | 0:30:52
every single dance we did. The mood
and the setting was perfect for the | 0:30:52 | 0:30:57
Argentine Tango. The energy started
from before we had even danced. It | 0:30:57 | 0:31:01
was so powerful. And it continued
right until that very last bit, we | 0:31:01 | 0:31:11
hit the floor, and it gave me
tingles. The fact we made it all the | 0:31:11 | 0:31:18
way through to the final, that was
just the icing on the cake. The | 0:31:18 | 0:31:23
euphoria you have, and that feeling
of, wow, that was special, you | 0:31:23 | 0:31:27
cannot create anywhere else in life,
only on the dance floor and Strictly | 0:31:27 | 0:31:30
allows us to do that. When you
finish with your partner it can be a | 0:31:30 | 0:31:35
really tough thing. 15 series of
Strictly. It has been euphoric. It | 0:31:35 | 0:31:45
has been tough. It is my life. I'm
very proud to have been a part of | 0:31:45 | 0:31:50
every single second of it.
CHEERING | 0:31:50 | 0:31:55
Was in that wonderful. I love that. | 0:31:55 | 0:31:57
"One of the best dancers who has
ever entered the Strictly arena", | 0:31:57 | 0:32:00
what's it like to hear that? | 0:32:00 | 0:32:03
I got really emotional. We had such
an amazing relationship. Such an | 0:32:03 | 0:32:10
extraordinary journey together. It
is ten years ago nearly. At the time | 0:32:10 | 0:32:13
he said I want you to wake up on
Sunday and look back at what you did | 0:32:13 | 0:32:18
and be proud of yourself. I look
back now. I'm so proud of what we | 0:32:18 | 0:32:23
achieved. Honestly. The dancers work
so hard. It is something that stays | 0:32:23 | 0:32:28
with you for life. And it's so
lovely to see you dancing again. So | 0:32:28 | 0:32:33
good! | 0:32:33 | 0:32:33 | |
Now, if Brendan's CV tells us
anything, it's that the Strictly | 0:32:33 | 0:32:36
journey is a veritable
"roller-coaster of emotions". | 0:32:36 | 0:32:38
So, in keeping with the Blackpool
theme it's time to play a | 0:32:38 | 0:32:41
game inspired by that very metaphor. | 0:32:41 | 0:32:42
I give you the It Takes Two
Emotional Rollercoaster Game! | 0:32:42 | 0:32:48
CHEERING | 0:32:48 | 0:32:50
There you all are! | 0:32:50 | 0:32:55
The aim of the game is to get as far
along the roller-coaster as you can. | 0:32:55 | 0:32:59
I'm going to read out a judge's
comment and to move up and down | 0:32:59 | 0:33:02
all you have to do
is correctly identify | 0:33:02 | 0:33:04
the celebrity
they're talking about. | 0:33:04 | 0:33:10
Little hint, it is only celebrities
left. | 0:33:10 | 0:33:14 | |
You each have a buzzer. | 0:33:14 | 0:33:17
I have a buzzer and I'm not afraid
to use it, and I'm not too disabled | 0:33:17 | 0:33:25
to use | 0:33:25 | 0:33:26 | |
CHUCKLES
There you go. Jason... Sorry about | 0:33:26 | 0:33:28
that. I am scared. | 0:33:28 | 0:33:33
Time's up when you this sound... | 0:33:33 | 0:33:36
So it's fastest finger first.
Let's begin... | 0:33:36 | 0:33:41
This came from Craig, he said... | 0:33:41 | 0:33:43
"Dull, dull, dull..." | 0:33:43 | 0:33:45
Who was it about? Peacock? It was,
off she goes. How very rude of him. | 0:33:45 | 0:33:57
Shirley said... | 0:33:57 | 0:33:57
"I'm going to give
you my 'Queen of Latin' | 0:33:57 | 0:33:59
crown because you deserve it.
You were fantastic..." | 0:33:59 | 0:34:02
Debbie. Indeed. Our next quote from
Bruno... | 0:34:02 | 0:34:10
"I loved the way you channelled
your dramatic persona, | 0:34:10 | 0:34:12
oh she had a kind of spout
and a snarl in the face, it was like | 0:34:12 | 0:34:16
watching Suranne Jones
in Doctor Foster." | 0:34:16 | 0:34:18
Susan? It was Susan in the tango.
You are so good at this. Bruno | 0:34:18 | 0:34:24
said... | 0:34:24 | 0:34:25
"There was the twinkle
of the eye of Gene Kelly, | 0:34:25 | 0:34:27
the strength of the Incredible Hulk
and the performance value | 0:34:27 | 0:34:30
of Fred Astaire." | 0:34:30 | 0:34:33
Davood? It was. Next, Craig said... | 0:34:33 | 0:34:37
"Well, I thought my ride on my mower
at home had more grace | 0:34:37 | 0:34:40
and elegance to be honest." | 0:34:40 | 0:34:43
Well out of order, it was about
Susan again. It was. Live it. | 0:34:43 | 0:34:49
Naughty Craig. Darcey said... | 0:34:49 | 0:34:59
"You gave me tingles down my back,
that was extraordinary, | 0:34:59 | 0:35:02
you are on par with
your professional, | 0:35:02 | 0:35:04
I don't think I've ever seen a tango
like that from a celebrity." | 0:35:04 | 0:35:07
Debbie? It does. Bruno said... | 0:35:07 | 0:35:08
"I think what happened is
you launched your boat | 0:35:08 | 0:35:10
on the wrong tide, and you looked
like you were walking | 0:35:10 | 0:35:13
the plank at times." | 0:35:13 | 0:35:14
Joe? Are you even watching the
series. I've got stage fright. It | 0:35:14 | 0:35:21
was Jonnie, sorry, it was Jonnie,
you must go back one. I've broken | 0:35:21 | 0:35:25
the game. I got it wrong? I got it
wrong. We are all wrong. Craig | 0:35:25 | 0:35:32
said... | 0:35:32 | 0:35:33
"There wasn't enough Rumba
in there really for us, | 0:35:33 | 0:35:35
but personally, I could sit
and watch that at home | 0:35:35 | 0:35:37
every day, darling." | 0:35:37 | 0:35:38
Who was that about? Joe? It wasn't.
Anyone else? Davood? Yes. That is | 0:35:38 | 0:35:50
who I meant. Darcey Said... | 0:35:50 | 0:35:58
"You gave us all the charm
of all the silent movies, | 0:35:58 | 0:36:00
never cheesy, amazing acting,
really kept in character | 0:36:00 | 0:36:02
all the way through." | 0:36:02 | 0:36:03
The game is up, which means Jason is
the winner. Kelly is furious. You | 0:36:03 | 0:36:08
are all brilliant, so you can all
have a stick of rock. No expense | 0:36:08 | 0:36:13
spared. William. Friday panel!
CHEERING | 0:36:13 | 0:36:20
Ok, earlier today,
Gethin caught up with | 0:36:20 | 0:36:22
Gemma and Darvood in an undisclosed
location in the Tower Ballroom. | 0:36:22 | 0:36:24
Let's see what he uncovered. | 0:36:24 | 0:36:31
I have found Davood van der Merwe in
wardrobe. First come happy birthday. | 0:36:31 | 0:36:35
-- I have found Davood and Gemma in
wardrobe, first of all, happy | 0:36:38 | 0:36:47
birthday. We are in the tower, it's
amazing, I've never been here | 0:36:47 | 0:36:53
before. Walking in this morning, it
looks like, you know beauty and the | 0:36:53 | 0:36:57
beast? The big ballroom? That is
what you and Aljaz remind me. | 0:36:57 | 0:37:04
CHUCKLES
Blackpool is a big night. We are in | 0:37:04 | 0:37:07
wardrobe. Have you your outfit? I
have, looks amazing. I haven't seen | 0:37:07 | 0:37:12
it, is it nice? Is it a pair of
trainers and a hoodie? I'm looking | 0:37:12 | 0:37:21
to it. | 0:37:21 | 0:37:22 | |
You have done rehearsal, how was it?
The first bit is a bit hairy. Yes, | 0:37:26 | 0:37:33
bit nervous. I'm glad it isn't just
me. It is a wonderful arena. But it | 0:37:33 | 0:37:40
is nervy, there is something about
it. Is it the bouncy floor? The size | 0:37:40 | 0:37:45
of it, the fact you are not used to
the floor. It is slippery. When we | 0:37:45 | 0:37:51
did our dance, my hold went every
single time. It should be out here. | 0:37:51 | 0:37:58
It is the emotional shoulders. I
have very emotional shoulders. You | 0:37:58 | 0:38:03
just tensed up? It is safer like
this. We have had a bad one in | 0:38:03 | 0:38:12
rehearsal, so hopefully we just have
the good ones left. Everybody | 0:38:12 | 0:38:16
supporting you tomorrow night.
Everybody will become even the kids | 0:38:16 | 0:38:21
this time, hopefully as much as
Jonnie this week, but we shall see. | 0:38:21 | 0:38:25
Good luck tomorrow, thank you for
your time. Thank you. Thank you. | 0:38:25 | 0:38:30
What's your problem? | 0:38:30 | 0:38:32
Now, Blackpool isn't just known
for its donkey rides | 0:38:32 | 0:38:34
and amusement arcades, it's
got a wonderful history of Ballroom. | 0:38:34 | 0:38:38
But why is dancing so special
in the Vegas of the North? | 0:38:38 | 0:38:41
We sent Joanne Clifton to find out. | 0:38:41 | 0:38:43
Who has eaten the props?
CHEERING | 0:38:43 | 0:38:51
Strictly has packed its bags and is
heading for the sandy shores of | 0:38:56 | 0:38:59
Blackpool. For a weekend of sun,
sea, and ballroom dancing. But what | 0:38:59 | 0:39:06
is it that makes this place such a
special fixture in the Strictly | 0:39:06 | 0:39:12
calendar? Blackpool is steeped in
dance history and home to not one | 0:39:12 | 0:39:16
but two of the most iconic ballrooms
in the country, the Empress | 0:39:16 | 0:39:19
ballroom, and the Tower ballroom.
The first open its doors was the | 0:39:19 | 0:39:24
Empress ballroom at the Winter
Gardens. With its barrel ceiling and | 0:39:24 | 0:39:31
a floor area of 12,500 square feet
it was one of the largest and most | 0:39:31 | 0:39:36
magnificent ballrooms in the world
when it opened in 1896. Competitive | 0:39:36 | 0:39:41
ballroom dancing was born right here
at the Winter Gardens won the first | 0:39:41 | 0:39:45
ever Blackpool dance festival was
staged in 1920. For nine days, | 0:39:45 | 0:39:50
dancers from over 60 different
countries compete, making it one of | 0:39:50 | 0:39:55
the biggest ballroom and Latin dance
contest in the world. And it is a | 0:39:55 | 0:39:58
place which is particularly
important to me because it is where | 0:39:58 | 0:40:01
Kevin and I won two British
championships together. In order to | 0:40:01 | 0:40:07
compete with the newly opened
Empress Ball, the owners of the | 0:40:07 | 0:40:10
Blackpool Tower commissioned Frank
match to design what would become a | 0:40:10 | 0:40:17
beacon of British ballroom dancing,
the Blackpool Tower ballroom. | 0:40:17 | 0:40:29
The ballroom has a custom-built
sprung floor that consists of over | 0:40:29 | 0:40:35
30,000 individual pieces of
mahogany, walnut, and oak which suit | 0:40:35 | 0:40:41
a number of different dance styles.
It was once described as the | 0:40:41 | 0:40:45
greatest social mix in the land
because of its ability to bring | 0:40:45 | 0:40:48
people from all social classes
together in one place. It estimated | 0:40:48 | 0:40:53
that over 100 million people have
walked their way across this dance | 0:40:53 | 0:40:57
floor within the first 40 years its
opening. -- waltzed their way | 0:40:57 | 0:41:08
across. Those who have danced in
this ballroom traditionally would | 0:41:08 | 0:41:12
have danced to organ music. With the
Tower ballroom's Wurlitzer being | 0:41:12 | 0:41:17
almost as famous as the ballroom
itself. Reginald Dixon played a big | 0:41:17 | 0:41:23
part in popularising organ music
during his time at the Tower from | 0:41:23 | 0:41:27
1930 to 1970. He was a hugely
popular musician who grew to be | 0:41:27 | 0:41:31
known affectionately as Mr
Blackpool. The organ that stands | 0:41:31 | 0:41:35
here in the Tower ballroom today is
the same one that was made to | 0:41:35 | 0:41:41
Reginald's exact specifications in
1935. | 0:41:41 | 0:41:52 | |
The ballroom is still open to the
public with tea dances held every | 0:41:55 | 0:42:00
day, which means anyone, young or
old, can come to this amazing dance | 0:42:00 | 0:42:05
space and experience it for
themselves. Two people who have done | 0:42:05 | 0:42:09
just that are David and Sue. They've
been coming here to dance for the | 0:42:09 | 0:42:13
last ten years. Do you have any
special memories of dancing here? We | 0:42:13 | 0:42:19
came for an event and Len Goodman
was here. He was dancing -- I was | 0:42:19 | 0:42:25
dancing with Dave, he tapped Dave on
the shoulder and I danced a foxtrot | 0:42:25 | 0:42:28
with him. That's amazing. I thought
you were going to say that he tapped | 0:42:28 | 0:42:34
you on the shoulder and said seven!
CHUCKLES | 0:42:34 | 0:42:37
Strictly is coming to town very
soon. How excited are you? Vary, the | 0:42:37 | 0:42:43
town is buzzing, because everybody
enjoys Strictly coming to Blackpool, | 0:42:43 | 0:42:47
because it is the mecca of dance. I
have one last question. Am I allowed | 0:42:47 | 0:42:54
to steal Dave for a little dance?
Certainly. Come on, then. | 0:42:54 | 0:43:00
CHUCKLES | 0:43:00 | 0:43:01
With such a rich and vibrant dance
history it easy to see how Blackpool | 0:43:03 | 0:43:07
became the home of ballroom dancing.
And why it is now Strictly's home | 0:43:07 | 0:43:11
away from home.
CHEERING | 0:43:11 | 0:43:18
Thanks so much. Beautiful. | 0:43:18 | 0:43:20
Right, let's head back over
to the only place to be | 0:43:20 | 0:43:23
this weekend, where Gethin Jones
has made himself right at home, | 0:43:23 | 0:43:26
and he's got company. | 0:43:26 | 0:43:30
The next time these guys will be
here they will be hoping for good | 0:43:30 | 0:43:36
comments from the judges. Fingers
crossed. Debbie, it will be the | 0:43:36 | 0:43:40
samba for you, but I feel like
nobody has found samba history as | 0:43:40 | 0:43:44
funny as you two. I know, but every
week is funny in our rehearsals and | 0:43:44 | 0:43:52
training. But this week has been
particularly. I cannot say why. It | 0:43:52 | 0:43:57
is just the fact I am playing a
Spice Girl. Wait until you see it, | 0:43:57 | 0:44:03
I'm sure you will be laughing. I
know this place is special to you. | 0:44:03 | 0:44:07
What is it like now you are here?
Better than I was thinking. I | 0:44:07 | 0:44:11
haven't been here a long time.
Walking in this morning, the room is | 0:44:11 | 0:44:16
so magnificent. No other word. The
fact all of this Strictly | 0:44:16 | 0:44:21
adornments, all of the crew are
here, it's exciting, I will wear | 0:44:21 | 0:44:24
myself out saying hello and talking
to everybody. The first thing you | 0:44:24 | 0:44:28
did here, gawker took you to the
gym, how about that? Exactly. -- | 0:44:28 | 0:44:40
Gorka to you. We also went to the
amusement arcade and we were big | 0:44:40 | 0:44:43
kids for a bit. It was nice to come
out of London. Come to this | 0:44:43 | 0:44:48
spectacular place. This building is
so beautiful. What a privilege and | 0:44:48 | 0:44:51
an honour to make it this far and
perform here. We have seen a sketch | 0:44:51 | 0:44:55
of the dress, how is it looking? I
love it. I saw it this morning. It | 0:44:55 | 0:45:01
is white, I'm like a little fairy,
it is cute. They always pull out all | 0:45:01 | 0:45:07
of the stops in wardrobe, massive
thanks to them. Where is your | 0:45:07 | 0:45:10
T-shirt? Has there been enough
practice and progress? We are always | 0:45:10 | 0:45:17
practising and progressing. I don't
have the T-shirt right now. You have | 0:45:17 | 0:45:22
a very prominent role in your dance.
I do. When it was being put | 0:45:22 | 0:45:29
together, it was amazing. To make it
to Blackpool, we are so pleased to | 0:45:29 | 0:45:34
be here. So many people on the dance
floor for the group dance. There are | 0:45:34 | 0:45:38
tonnes of them. They are all
amazing. Definitely worth the watch. | 0:45:38 | 0:45:42
Good luck for tonight and tomorrow. | 0:45:42 | 0:45:49
They are giddy with excitement, and
so are we. | 0:45:49 | 0:45:51
Now, it's no mean feat to make it
to the Tower Ballroom, | 0:45:51 | 0:45:54
but what have been the biggest
challenges our couples have faced? | 0:45:54 | 0:45:57
Let's hear from our
Blackpool stars themselves. | 0:45:57 | 0:45:59
I think my biggest challenge on the
show has just been the nerves, being | 0:45:59 | 0:46:04
up there waiting to go on, knowing
you are on next. Then thinking, I am | 0:46:04 | 0:46:09
going to go out and mess it up, and
feeling the fear. | 0:46:09 | 0:46:13
The biggest challenge of my Strictly
Come Dancing journey has been | 0:46:13 | 0:46:16
learning to dance.
It's tough being graceful, it's | 0:46:16 | 0:46:21
tough being elegant. It's tough.
During the American Smooth, when I | 0:46:21 | 0:46:29
actually didn't think I knew the
steps. Nadiya said I do know the | 0:46:29 | 0:46:35
steps, and we are going to go out
and enjoy it. | 0:46:35 | 0:46:38
The biggest part of my journey so
far has actually been last weekend, | 0:46:38 | 0:46:43
when I saw that people had voted for
us to go through. You have that | 0:46:43 | 0:46:47
moment thinking, oh, people do want
to see our stance, because I think | 0:46:47 | 0:46:52
when you are in the dance off twice,
it is hard to pick yourself up from. | 0:46:52 | 0:46:58
Every single week I drive myself
crazy with anxiety and worry, and | 0:46:58 | 0:47:03
fear, that something is going to go
wrong before the dance. Aljaz is the | 0:47:03 | 0:47:08
sole person on the show who I 1000%
trust and believe in. When he says | 0:47:08 | 0:47:13
to me, I could have done that
better, I know I could. When he says | 0:47:13 | 0:47:16
how proud he is, I know he is proud.
Feeling like it's gone well, and | 0:47:16 | 0:47:21
having to go to the dance off was
not a nicely on, but it was | 0:47:21 | 0:47:26
definitely an experience, and a good
opportunity, too, to show that we | 0:47:26 | 0:47:29
could improve on that dance.
When Gorka and I were doing the | 0:47:29 | 0:47:33
Argentine tango, there was a point
in the rehearsal where I did not | 0:47:33 | 0:47:38
recognise my sock, because I was so
upset and frustrated in myself. | 0:47:38 | 0:47:41
Gorka says to me, stop putting us
down. For me, it is really hard not | 0:47:41 | 0:47:47
to do that.
I wake up in the middle of the night | 0:47:47 | 0:47:50
doing whatever dance I'm doing that
week. Getting over the biggest | 0:47:50 | 0:47:54
hurdles and challenges every week,
it's really hard. | 0:47:54 | 0:48:00
Stop, it's been an emotional week! | 0:48:02 | 0:48:06
Please welcome back my Friday Panel! | 0:48:06 | 0:48:08
We will carry on where we left off. | 0:48:08 | 0:48:13
Starting with Susan and Kevin. | 0:48:13 | 0:48:14
They're dancing a Paso
inspired by the movie | 0:48:14 | 0:48:16
Strictly Ballroom. | 0:48:16 | 0:48:19
This could be what legends are made
of, surely? Is one of my favourite | 0:48:19 | 0:48:23
movies. Flash Gordon. Stricker
ballroom, I love this and I... It is | 0:48:23 | 0:48:32
going to be incredible. Susan is
going to be amazing. I have asked | 0:48:32 | 0:48:40
Jason to be my friend, so I can
become Susan's friend. Just to get | 0:48:40 | 0:48:45
to her! He looked terrified! He ran
off, no, I love her. Mr Clifton's | 0:48:45 | 0:48:57
vision of five years to get this on
the show, Jason, what do you think? | 0:48:57 | 0:49:03
That is a big weight on your
shoulders. But he couldn't have | 0:49:03 | 0:49:06
anyone better with him. I adore
Susan from the comedy circuit, I | 0:49:06 | 0:49:10
have known her for many years.
Watching her, she did not think she | 0:49:10 | 0:49:14
would still be in it when it got to
Blackpool. She is the biggest | 0:49:14 | 0:49:19
improver from show number one until
now. And still joyous. | 0:49:19 | 0:49:26
Next, it's Mollie and AJ. | 0:49:26 | 0:49:27
They're dancing the Charleston. | 0:49:27 | 0:49:32
Here they are rehearsing. Kelly, how
is she looking? Has it got the right | 0:49:32 | 0:49:36
amount of swivel for you? Yes. She
was great in the jive. You can see | 0:49:36 | 0:49:42
she is enjoying it and she is super
comfortable. She is great in these | 0:49:42 | 0:49:46
dances, because she has so much
energy. When she is the sexy zone, | 0:49:46 | 0:49:53
she gets self-conscious. She has to
forget that and have fun. I'm like | 0:49:53 | 0:49:59
that when I am in my sexy zone. She
is a sexy girl, but when you perform | 0:49:59 | 0:50:05
like that, you are out of your
comfort zone! Rumba is terrifying. | 0:50:05 | 0:50:12
If you can have fun, you can have a
laugh. | 0:50:12 | 0:50:17
Onto Gemma and Aljaz,
they're doing the American Smooth. | 0:50:17 | 0:50:22
MUSIC: "Downtown" by Petula Clark | 0:50:22 | 0:50:26
Here they are. It was her birthday
yesterday, she is a local lass. It | 0:50:26 | 0:50:31
is a good one for her. I don't know
how she is fitting it in. I listened | 0:50:31 | 0:50:36
to her on the radio, the Breakfast
Show. Early start. I do not know how | 0:50:36 | 0:50:44
she fits it in. She is doing
unbelievably well. She looks great, | 0:50:44 | 0:50:49
she's such a laugh, and it's been
great to watch her every week. She | 0:50:49 | 0:50:53
is joyous as well. And American
Smooth, Kelly, you were so good at | 0:50:53 | 0:50:59
this dance, you are an expert, how
does it look? It was my favourite | 0:50:59 | 0:51:04
dance. Looking at her there, her
whole is just unbelievable. She | 0:51:04 | 0:51:10
looks like a professional. It is so
hard to not look where you are going | 0:51:10 | 0:51:13
and keep the line. She licks
incredible. It is absolutely my | 0:51:13 | 0:51:18
favourite dance. Debbie and Giovanni
doing the Samba, she is being a | 0:51:18 | 0:51:26
Spice Girl. | 0:51:26 | 0:51:28
Are her samba rolls
spicing up your life? | 0:51:28 | 0:51:30
MUSIC: "Who Do You Think You Are?"
by The Spice Girls | 0:51:30 | 0:51:34
Debbie is one of my favourites, I am
a Debbie fan. I have never extended | 0:51:34 | 0:51:40
my leg like she extends her leg. She
is incredible and I know she is not | 0:51:40 | 0:51:45
as comfortable with these dances,
but she is so amazing. She trains so | 0:51:45 | 0:51:50
hard. I absolutely love her. She is
one of my favourites. | 0:51:50 | 0:51:54
The judges picked up a couple
of mistakes in her Salsa last week. | 0:51:54 | 0:51:57
She picks up and recovers so
quickly. How does it look to you? | 0:51:57 | 0:52:02
She sets the bar so high, they had
to find something wrong to say | 0:52:02 | 0:52:07
something sometimes with Debbie.
That's what has happened, the judges | 0:52:07 | 0:52:10
are guilty of trying to find
something to say. She made the Tango | 0:52:10 | 0:52:14
look effortless, didn't she. When
she did the tango... She made it | 0:52:14 | 0:52:19
look easy! I hate to ask the
question, but we must, who could be | 0:52:19 | 0:52:24
having their last arms this weekend
in Blackpool? Nikki? I think Mollie | 0:52:24 | 0:52:31
has been unfairly in the bottom two,
but I think she might go out. But I | 0:52:31 | 0:52:35
don't want anyone. I don't want it
to be Susan, she does so well. And | 0:52:35 | 0:52:44
she is full of life, so I think
Jonnie as well. Kelly? I don't know. | 0:52:44 | 0:52:52
Aston went out, you just don't know.
How can you call it? Sorry! | 0:52:52 | 0:52:59
Let's hear it for our Friday panel! | 0:52:59 | 0:53:03
Time now to head back oop North,
where Gethin has found some | 0:53:03 | 0:53:06
pros to play with. | 0:53:06 | 0:53:07
I'm here with three of Strictly's
all-time pros, a wise man once | 0:53:07 | 0:53:14
said... It's not all fun and games.
He was wrong because he has never | 0:53:14 | 0:53:19
played Blackpool ping pong. We have
ping pong and cups with names on | 0:53:19 | 0:53:23
them. They correspond to questions
and we want answers. Who is first? | 0:53:23 | 0:53:32
Gentleman first, Pasha, get the ping
pong in a cup. Come on. This is it. | 0:53:32 | 0:53:38
Oh! Oh!
It's a high octane game. | 0:53:38 | 0:53:49
Number three is, which celebrity has
