Episode 2 The National Lottery: Break the Safe

the money is won. Get it wrong, and it's gone forever. Who will have the

perfect combination to break the Lottery Break The Safe with

tonight's big money draws. Tonight three pairs will battle it out to

take up to �100,000 from this safe. Winning the cash will require

teamwork and precision timing. In a moments the safe will lock,

activating a countdown. It all sounds simple. But it's tougher than

you think. As tonight's players are about to find out. So let's meet

them. First it's firefighters Emma and

Tommy from Liverpool. Emma is the watch commander, so she's the boss.

If they win Emma wants to bungee jump off the Grand Canyon and Tommy

wants to fly into space. Will they extinguish the competition? Next

it's Dionne and Sonia. Will this mother and daughter bond be strong

enough? Finally, it's Holy and James,

girlfriend and boyfriend from York. Both have long lists about each

other's bad habits but they're still in love enough to want to get

married. Will young love conquer breaking the safe tonight?

firefighters. I am going to put this up front, isn't it amazing what our

firefighters do for us every day, rescuing lives, fantastic. Emma, you

are the boss. I am, yes, watch commander. Why have you brought

Tommy, as the boss you had an entire fire station to choose from. Yeah.

Tommy was probably one of the most intelligent ones - or one of them

work colleagues like yourselves going to do better than any of the

so. We will see whether it does do better than mum and daughter, Dionne

break from it is completely down to how well they play the game. Lock

last two can only be unlocked by our contestants. OK, with 35 minutes on

countdown hits zero and only when it hits zero will the cash banked be

available to break from the safe. But the window of opportunity to win

that money will be very, very small, literally just one second. Which of

our three pairs will make it to that moment? In this first round we begin

to put the relationships to the test. Each question has a two-part

answer, so you both need to give correct answers to earn �1,000. But

only one of you will have control of the buzzer. Emma, Dioone and Holly

earned. In last place at the moment is Dionne and Sonia. Second place

After two questions the scores are James and Holly ahead. This last

question could be the difference between leaving with nothing or

going on to try and break the safe. It's worth either �6,000 or �12,000.

Do you want to stay as you are or switch positions? The player at the

back is the one who could be answering for the larger amount of

money. Let's start with you Emma and Tommy. Front or back? We might need

the extra money. Back. OK. I will stay at the front, please. You are

staying. It's a difficult decision. If you are more confident you come

James and Holly. As soon as I heard the question, I knew. You were

surprised to make it to the second round and you did really well. You

tip, James, you are heading out of the game, so you might want to give

Holly a 20-minute warning. You are out of the game and so is the �8,000

To break the safe you both need precision timing because when that

countdown hits 30 seconds it will disappear from view and Emma and

Tommy, it's up to you to take over counting to zero. When you both

think it's hit zero, you then have a further three seconds to break the

safe. If one of you gets it right, you take home half the money. If

both of you get it right, the �45,000 is yours. In front of you

are your deactivation buttons, they're now live. So you can't be

infliensed when to press this -- influenced when to press this wall

will ensure you can't communicate. Can we have silence in the studio.

At zero, Emma and Tommy have a three-second window of opportunity

to break the safe. Press too early or too late, it's game over. The

seconds when you could have broken the safe, the lights will turn green

like so. The lock will release. If not, it will turn red, and your lock

will remain firmly shut. If one of you gets a green light you will get

half the �45,000. If both of you get a green light all the �45,000 will

be yours. If it's red lights all the way, you go home with nothing.

There's a shiver of nerves went through you there. Didn't like the

sound of that bit. Good luck to both of you. Let me come between you and
